Chapter 5- the Catalyst
I have been homeless for a week already and I can't stand it. I haven't bathed in a few days and I smell really bad. There would be no way to survive if ketchup packets weren't free. When you have all day to dumpster dive you actually find some nifty stuff. I found a cool pocket radio but the batteries are dead, maybe If I could steal some then at least I would have something to do. I'm not sure if I should resort to stealing, things are starting to look up for me I found a few orange groves and potato vines. Ugh I wish I didn't have to drink that crappy public water it tastes like its swarming with paramecium.
Wait a second I haven't spoken to Tom in awhile I wonder what's up. I've decided that whether or not he is okay with me being gay that I had to do this for my pride.
I approached Tom's mom's house and knocked on his door.
Tommy: Woah! its you
Tommy: you reek
Chase:
Tommy: did you drop out of school?
Chase: sort of
Tommy: what happened to you
Chase: its a long story
Tommy: come on in.
Chase: wow this place has changed
Tommy: yeah but I haven't
Tommy: so why did you.....
Chase: my dad kicked me out of the house
Tommy: why?
Chase: uhhh well umm
Chase: Tom I'm gay
Tommy: all of this because of who you're attracted to
Chase: yup
Tom laid his paw on my shoulder and told me "you can bunk with me for awhile until you get back on your paws."
Chase: thanks I appreciate it
Tommy: no problem but we might wanna get you bathed 1st
Tommy handed me a spare change of clothes and lead me to the bathroom.
Chase: so it doesn't bother you that I'm gay?
Tommy: not really, more chicks for me.
{same old Tom}
After I got out of the shower I joined Tom in the living room, he was watching a movie. After the movie we both head up to bed. He had a queen-sized bed but only 1 blanket. Turns out he likes to sleep in his boxers too, right now I'm trying hard to keep in mind "he's just my friend". Tom then turned off the lights we started talking.
Tommy: so thats why Rachel doesn't hang around us any more?
Chase: yup
Tommy: shame, you two have known each other for awhile
Tommy: I guess some people are just close minded
Chase: yeah I miss her too
The two hounds slept happily knowing that Chase was safe.
Awww I guess Tom likes to spoon. Should I wake him up for school early? Prolly not he might get mad. I crawled outta bed and prepared for school. I was going to make sure that I picked up where I left off. So I woke Tom up and he gave me some clothes to wear, brown khaki cargo pants with a black hoodie. Tom and I decided to walk to school today, it gave us more time to talk. When we came through the front of the school I saw the look on some people's faces I guess some people didn't expect to see me. I went to first period and a lot of people were staring at me like I just got out of the circus. I didn't think anyone even knew I was missing. The teacher entered the room and asked me where I was then it just hit me. I felt like I had to do I.... I just had to do it.
Chase: My dad kicked me out of the house because I'm gay
Silence spread throughout the class, as people jaws started to drop.
{o shoot I can't believe I just said that}
throughout the rest of the period people were just texting messages constantly. This made me nervous, I've never been the center of attention before, and now...
After class the teacher pulled me over and asked if I wanted to talk about things and I shrugged and said sure. Eventually she forced me into tears and I stood there hugging her.
When I head out to lunch I feared the worst. I was familiar enough with this school to know that news spread like wildfire. Though I wasn't picked on as much as I thought I'd be, getting shoved every other minute in the hallways got to be a pain.
When I sat down Mitch greeted me with a "how ya doin'" "so i heard you li...."
Chase: yup
Mitch: coo, coo.
Most of lunch we just sat there silently but at least everyone at our table was cool with... well... you know...
When I proceeded to the next class some bitch nailed me with ICED TEA from the balcony. Turns out it was Rachel, I noticed her scowling at me and I just shrugged it off.
I went to the campus library to check my email and then I saw the messages.......
I think I'm gonna be sick!
