Young Rabbits 1
#46 of Music Story
With Jay and Arya out of favor with the Pleasure Society, they have to get information on them however they can. The two rabbit secretaries seem like a good pair to tail, but can they be caught so easily?

The building that had once been the headquarters of Komodo's chapter of the Pleasure Society already sits gutted, a "For Sale" sign from a popular realty company hangs on the window. Across the street, Jay peers at the entrance, a half-empty bottle of iced tea sitting on a table next to him as he keeps the lookout. The rat had been there long enough to develop an itch to leave, but has worked in this business long enough to know not to let that happen. He produces his phone and sends out a call. "No activity on this end. How about you?"
Tobias sits at a nearby cafe, a small latte sitting unconsumed after he had ordered it. A sheepish waiter approaches him, trying to build up the courage to ask him to leave, but when he answers the phone, he growls. "Nothing. I've been sittin' here all day. How about our friend? She find anything, yet?"
"If she has," Jay says, bringing the bottle to his lips and taking a quick swig, "she hasn't told me."
The tiger taps his boot against the floor. "Shit sucks. These two are the the bottom bitches for the head of the club AND working with your cousin, and we haven't seen hair of them? There's no way we were marked already, right?"
"They got Uma in their grasp, at least for a little while," Jay admits. "There's no telling what sort of skills the Pleasure Society has accrued since I've been out of the picture."
Tobias chuckles, unable to hide his pleased grin. "Oh, so you had some dealings with them in the past?"
"One does not kiss and tell, Toby. However, I can say that their sudden ramp in inductees has me worried. They're planning something, alright, and they're doing a great job covering up their tracks."
"Yeah, yeah, well. From what Arya told us, these rabbits seem like the squealing types. You sure they're going to be back here, again?"
"The security system is still running. They're going to need IT workers to check it out on their secured closed system. It's wired so no one can access it from outside."
"Not leaving anything to chance."
"Or perhaps, it's just their discretion to keep their clients' kinks under wraps. After all, a breach of their servers is ripe for ransoming."
"You're makin' these people sound like they're doing something noble."
"I don't doubt they believe they are," Jay says. "After all, don't we all want an escape from reality from time to time. The trick is to know that fantasy can never substitute reality, no matter how hard we try or how much money we have."
Tobias finally picks up his latte, shrugging and taking a sip. "Yeah, well, these people seem like a fantasy now that we can't see 'em. Like a fuckin' ghost or some shit. And I..." he spits out his drink "fuck."
Jay stands up. "Tobias. Do you have a visual?"
Tobias disconnects his phone and drops his drink, hopping up from his seat and bounding over the railing.
The white rabbit dresses in short shorts and a sleeveless top. When it looks over its shoulder, the heart shape over its eye gives it away as the brother of the pair. He gasps when he sees the tiger charging at him, and he immediately drops the folder he's carrying to bound off down the street.
"Oh, no you don't!" Tobias says, rushing past the fluttering papers to begin the chase in earnest.
"Dammit, Tobias. Pick up the phone!" Jay shouts, rushing down the stairs of the old building. Not getting an answer, he clicks over to the other call. "Arya. We might have confirmation. I've lost contact with Tobias. Do you see either target?"
"Negative," Arya says. "But I'll try to head them off."
The rabbit glances back to the tiger once more before taking a sharp turn right into the traffic. He leaps up, landing on the roof of one car before hopping to the next, and then leaping high onto the awning of a nearby shop.
Tobias snorts as he is stopped by the cars. He rushes past the ones he can, but finds the swerving and honking vehicles harder to navigate himself.
The rabbit keeps his eyes wide when he sees the tiger desperately trying to make his way across the busy street. He frowns and then jumps across the alleyway onto the neighboring building's fire escape. From there, he starts to make his way up to the rooftops.
Tobias, resorting to running back to the sidewalk, pulls out his phone. "Fuckboy got away. He's climbing to the rooftops."
Jay curses under his breath and turns back around, heading up the stairs this time. "Maintain contact. Got it?"
"Yeah, yeah. You got him?"
The rabbit tumbles onto the roof and crawls over towards the street, peering over to survey the damage. But then, the door bursts open, and Jay stands on the other side. "Hey, you!"
The rabbit squeaks and jumps up, bolting towards another building. Jay puts on a burst of speed, but the rabbit slides under a vent shaft and keeps running, his parkour quite impeccable. Jay climbs over and continues the chase himself, shouting. "I just want to talk!"
The rabbit looks over at the edge of the roof, his whiskers flicking as he judges the distance. Jay runs up to him and reaches up, grabbing his shoulder.
"Got you. Now, tel-"
The rabbit spins around, delivering a kick to Jay's stomach. The rat lets go, and the rabbit places his hands on his shoulders, jumping over him and running back the way he came.
"Holy shit," Tobias shouts, staring up at the rooftops above him. "Did that twink just kick your ass?"
"Sh... shut up, Tobias. He's heading back your way. There's no telling what sorts of escapes the Society has planned. Go after him."
"What about the shit he dropped."
"What shit!?"
"Like, papers and shit."
Jay catches his breath and keeps up the pursuit. "If they look important, focus on them!"
