PART: ONE HUNDRED & NINETEEN
S he was a mismagius, a throwback from another place and another time, few of her kind existed anymore, of those that did only the ghost types remained. Though this was mostly due to the curse of being spectral entities, the other alpha pokémon, including those who had been imbued with abnormally long lifespans had become little more than dust in the wind. Such was the fate of all living things, for the first few centuries it had for a while filled her with despair, watching whole generations be born only to grow old then die as mere ripples in the sea of time. She would many attempts to through many means to resist the slow decay of their bodies as they aged, observe them as they struggle so very hard to leave their mar upon the world and in doing so bring advancements. Only for some individuals going to any length to prevent the inevitability of change, be it through the undoing of magnificent achievements which may have proven to better of the life, to attempt dragging everyone around them back to a level they believe things should have remained. She had seen both humans as well as pokémon alike do these exact things, convinced within their own minds that they were preventing the destruction of pokémon or mankind, yet completely blind to the simple fact that without change, nothing could evolve, and if nothing could evolve then there could only be the slow decent into stagnation followed by the inevitability of extinction.
It was a curiosity as to what type Jack might be, perhaps a hedonistically being only concerned about his own carnal desires at the cost of others, a calculating being eager to make connections for their own gain, or did he seek to destroy what had been created like some previous candidates seeking membership. It had been the mismagius expectation that the human would simply crumple to the ground in fear or just stand rooted in utter shock. It was for this reason alone she had planned to start off with her mind games, followed by demanding he announce who he was, it was tried and tested method which had always proven highly successful in the past to lowering her targets guard allowing her to then proceed in peering into their soul to truly know intentions, so when this failed upon the human currently sinking through the abyss between the material world and that of the departed. She was had become quite perplexed as she in her frustration sought to retain control, but her control proved to be little more than a mere flittering illusion as he managed to evade her by falling from the one area in the forsaken abyss, where a mortal could be safely hidden from the other denizens of the abyss. Shaking herself from her stupa the ghost pokémon dove down after the mortal with a sense of dread rising up to fill her ethereal mind, pushing down deeper she picked up speed hoping to catch up with the foolish human before something else less benign noticed the foolish mortal's presence.
Falling or rather sinking into the pitch darkness, he could feel the strange icy ichor like substance all around him, pressing against him while it oozed in through his mouth and nose then going on to fill any opening it could seep into, even his tear ducts or the pours of his skin where not immune to its invading presence. The discomfort of in moving into his capillaries intensified to an inescapable stinging as it continued on into his veins and arteries, the ichor had no taste nor any smell yet its texture was comparable to a thick gel, the pain had become unbearable as it began filling his lungs. Jack flailed about, thrashing about in pure panic ridden fear, he had been so sure he was going to drown it would be several moments before he realised the act of breathing was merely an illusion of his mind. The sensation of how the ichor gradually infiltrating his body was not a pleasant one, it became worse as the unnatural substance began to stretch his internal organs forcing them to swell to the point where his only relief came from the wooziness accompanied by a strange fogginess eclipsing his mind. The fog was increasing rapidly to the point where even the ability to think in any rationally way, was swiftly becoming arduous task to achieve.
'You should not be here; this place is not for the living''
An unknown voice began announced, filling Jack's foggy mind with some clarity of rational thought. The pressure inside his body had begun to decrease swiftly, starting from within the chambers of his heart as the invasive ichor was expelled from his body. The invisible caress of small bony finger along the sides of his face caused him to flinch as though he could not pull away, it was as if he was frozen in place as the touch of its cold unseen mouth was pressed to his lips in the form of a kiss.
'Such a beautiful soul, such a truly worthy feast to sip upon for all eternity'
The voice cooed softly into his, he felt woozy as though he his consciousness was fading in and out of existence the more the ghostly entity moved its lips against his. The last conscious realisation before he started losing cohesive thought once more, was that the entity had not saved him out of any good intentions but rather for its own nefarious purposes.
'Begone, this is my prey!'
The entity hissed at some other presence, Jack was far too gone to be capable of comprehending anything that was being said. He was barely even aware of something grasping him under his arms then complete oblivion.
'THIS SOUL IS MINE!'
The entity howled in outrage as the large mismagius grasp its prey from its grasp, stealing the meal it had just started to consume. The darkness was soon lit up with dull flashes of dark purple energies as it unleashed its attacks upon the interloper making off with Jack limp form, this would prove to be a mistake as something else was attracted to the commotion. A large fang filled maw rose up from below before snapping close around the entity then sinking back down from where it came.
Moments late back up on the elevator floor, the only area of reality to exist the mismagius gently laid the human down. She hovered over Jack leaning her face close to his as her cloth like limbs tipped his head back, his jaw automatically opened. With tender expression on her inhuman features, she parted her own jagged oral opening, allowing a psychedelic ichor down and into his mouth. Some splattered across other areas of his face but the majority moved down his throat until his body tensed up, arching as his eyes shot open, rolling onto his side he began coughing and gasping for breath.
"Be at ease, do not leave this square again for I may not be able to save you a second time"
The ghost pokémon warned him, she drifted away a from him by a few feet to give him some room as he regained his senses. Her eyes observed his intently as though she was contemplating what had just happened, finally as if it were an afterthought the walls of the elevator swung back up into place while the ceiling reformed above them once more.
"that was a foolish thing you did Jack"
She scolded with a stern disproving tone, giving a sigh she shook her head slowly as she continued to speak with a gentler voice.
"Still, you are safe, and that is what matters the most."
Jack looked up at the ghost pokémon as she hung there just above him, he was still a little light headed as he watched her floating about as though she was some ocean going vessel, just bobbing about there on the none existent waves. Her gaze was still fixed squarely upon him, not that he could blame her, especially after his earlier stunt which in hindsight he had to admit, it had been somewhat stupid on many levels of idiocy.
“My name is Jack, it a pleasure to meet you"
He mused, finally answering her earlier question with a smile about his face, Jack proceeded to hold his hand out to her. Easing one of her appendages into his hands he never as completely unprepared for when he as pulled up off the ground to have her jagged mouth press itself to his while her voice echoed into his mind.
"Yes, it is!"
He blinked a few times to find himself once more sounded by those he had been so concerned about, they were still talking as though he hadn't even been gone. Turning to look into the mirror like side next to him he could see the mismagius grinning as she gave him a playful smile, he smiled back only to see the elevator door open in the reflection and the ghost pokémon taking her leave, turning his gave to the real lift doors they were still closed as they continued to descend.
