Chapter twelve: guilty heart guilty soul

Chapter Fifteen : a leap of faith.

Chapter Sixteen: Ghost's of pain.
Two weeks have past since Alex had died. The pain still lingered around in my head. I walked into biology class for the first time since and it was all so calm. "in an hour." she sighed and walked to me. "I need to bring your temperature back down... I'm amazed you could still run here let alone walk..." she placed her arms around my neck and hugged me close. "if you died I don't know what Matt and I would do..."
I felt my tears falling down my face.
"they would get over it eventually." Alex's voice rang out and I seen him sitting in the tub with me. "you and I both know it." he smirked and placed his paw against my face.
"he's dead and still insulting me..." I hissed through my teeth and tried to bite his paw.
"poor poor puppy, being dead ain't so bad..." he laughed and Leaned back to rest against the edge of the tub, "it's just like sleeping... But once you wake up you are free..."

When I woke up I was in my own bed at home. Looking for any sign of Alex or Chris.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I couldnt see him and I rolled over onto my back. I looked at the clock and it had read: three AM. The door opened and both Chris and Matt walked in to check up on me. "hey" I said hazily and Matt ran over and gave me a Hug and he cried out in joy.
"I thought you were going to die..." he sobbed and I realized that I had an I.V in my arm.
"huh?" I looked over at Chris standing at the edge of my bed and she was crying too. "what's he talking about?"
" your temperature wouldnt stop rising," she laughed while she wiped away her tears, "You were at one hundred and sixteen." I looked at her in disbelief, "It's a miracle your still alive Trenton."

"Matt I think Trent needs his rest." Chris looked at him and he understood what she meant.
He got up to leave and I grabbed his arm. "I love you you know that right?" I told him with tears in my eyes.
He nodded his head and left. Shutting the door behind him.
" your still seeing him?" she looked at me and all I could do was nod.
"He's not real Trent" Chris said softly and she shook her head.."he's a hallucination..."
"but he touched me and I felt it..." I sobbed and flattened my ears. " I want it to be real..."
"i know Trent... I know..." she looked at me and I knew she could see the pain in my eyes...
"Maybe I just need sleep..." I laughed " god knows when I sleep with Matt we don't really 'sleep'."

"God today is the funeral!" I groaned...
"You can't go Trenton..." she hung her head... And my eyes widened...
"How long have I been asleep?" I looked at her in desperation .
"Three days..." she said and I let my head fall backwards against the pillow.
"well I guess your stuck with me for a little while longer eh Trenton." Alex grinned and vanished. Only to re-appear on my bed.

I woke up the next morning to Alex's face,

"where are you going?" I heard Chris's voice coming from behind. I turned around and looked at her...

I recognized the growl in his voice. "No..." I shook my head trying to get the Sound out of my brain.
I looked back at Chloe and Mike bumped into her, causing her to drop the gun and it fired. It flew In slow motion to Alexs chest and I heard a scream... Then pounding... Then silence.
Chapter seventeen: forgiveness
"... So that's what happened to you" I sighed and shook my head.
He nodded his head and vanished once more.
Once I got back to the car I realized what I must do..
"can you take me to a flower shop?" I asked Chris as I got into the passenger side.
"Yeah..." she nodded her head and started the car.
When we pulled into the grave yard parking lot i looked at Chris with tears in my eyes.
"you don't have to do this right now Trenton." Chris said soothingly. " we can wait until you get better..." her eyes were watering at the thought of me breaking down once more.
"I'm fine Chris..." I lied and flashed her a fake smile, "I'm over the thought of my best friend dieing... and it was an accident, the cop dropped the gun and it went off..." I bit my lip and stroked my white furry arm...
I held the white roses in my hand and opened the car door, Chris following quickly behind I ran over to Alex's grave and there he was sitting on his head stone.
"want to say any last words before I leave for good?" he asked me and I nodded solemnly.
"You were the best thing that happened to me... We were from Different Worlds" I sighed. " If it wasnt for you breaking my heart I wouldn't have found Matt, but you also wouldn't be dead right now... I'm sorry for all the pain I have caused you," I felt tears of sorrow running Down my face "I was in love with you from the very first minute we became friends. I will not forget you, and I wanted to say one last thing before I get rid of you Alex..."the tears of sorrow soon became joy. "thank you...for being there for every thing.. I wish I could have been there for you..." I place the flowers on Alex's lap and he began to fade away.
" same to you Trent... I know you and Matt will make it in this world.." he said as a tear drop hit the marble head stone. And then he was gone...
Chris walked up behind me and patted me on the shoulder... "Let's go Trenton... Matt is waiting to see you and possibly hug you to death." we both laughed and I wiped my eyes on the sleeve of my hoodie.
"What now Trenton?" she asked me as we got back into her car...
"I'm not sure... But he's gone now..." i sniffled. "and I'm not sad any more, I'm actually happy..." for the first time in over three weeks I was happy...

Chapter eighteen: Choices
It has been. Over a month since I last heard from Seth the police officer. He said he was going to come over later today so I could decide on what Im going do.
I watched the leaves fall outside my bedroom window thinking about how I was going to cope with every thing around me...
The door opened and I turned around to see who it was.
Seth walked in and he sighed "how ya doing Trent?" he asked with a bit of remorse in his voice.
"it doesn't hurt any more..." I smiled And looked at what I was wearing. Blue pjs and no shirt, my fur was a mess and I couldnt help but laugh at the fact that Didnt look like I was okay...
"Im going to take you up on your offer," I smiled and looked at him, "I still want to go to school so I will only come in on the weekends."
"You are absolutely right" he laughed and shook his head. " want me to take you to your office?"
"Can we go pick up Matt?" I stuck out my toung and perked my ears straight up."
"Yeah" he burst into laughter and walked out of my room.
I got a pair of jeans and my red t-shirt out of my dresser and put them on.
I opened my door and looked at Seth
"your ready?" he asked eying me up and down.
"Yep!" I giggled and walked to the front door of my house. Tail wagging all the while.
When I opened the door my jaw dropped In front of me was a brand new black Camaro. A lightning bolt flashing from one end to the other made the car just perfect.
"nice isn't it?" he grinned and i just nodded my head. He dangled the keys in front of my face,"you drive." he said and I closed my mouth and looked at him.
"Y-your kidding right?!?" I squealed and he shook his head. I grabbed the keys and bolted for the drivers seat. I put the key in the door and unlocked and opened it.
"I don't have my licensee yet..." I sighed and looked at him and he shrugged.
"I'm a cop." he smiled and my tail fluttered around wildly.
I hopped in the drivers seat and put my seat belt on.
It was an automatic transmission and I thanked god. I placed the key in the ignition and turned the key. The engender roared to life and I put it in reverse and slowly backed out of my driveway. Once out I put it in drive and drove in the direction of Matts house.
"So what is it that I have to do at the police academy?" I asked him keeping my eyes on the road.
"well they need a junior guidance councilor so the beginners have some one they can talk to without feeling pressured and stressed." he explained and I stopped at a stop sign. "and seeing what you went through and how well you cooped with it I thought you would have been the best candidate." he took out a clip board and checked something off on it.
I started to slow down for a red light and put my turn signal on. "so basic you think I can do this and help their minds be at ease?" I asked him as I spun the steering wheel left. And slowly pressing the gas pedal
"pretty much." he said as he check something else on the clip board."hey can you park in front of that store for a minute I need to get some thing." he asked me, the only space available was a spot between two cars parked by the curb. I drove up past it a little bit and I put it in reverse, spinning the wheel hard right I pressed the gas peddle once more and the car slid In perfectly.
He checked one last thing off on his clip board and smiled. "I'll be right back!" he said as he hopped out of the car and his tail was wagging madly.
I turned the key in the ignition and the car shut off.
Seth came back with a card in his hand and I looked at him with a weird look.
"here's your drivers license Trent!" he laughed and held the card out to me, I stared at him blankly.
"Wh-"I stuttered and I took the card from his hand carefully.
"keep the car too" he winked as I nearly jumped out of he car And did a back flip.
I turned the car on and slowly drove out of the parking spot and drove to Matts house.
Once there I got out of the car still shocked I got my license and a brand new car at the same time.
Matts mom was standing out side smiling and twitching her tail.
Seth walked up to Chris and I couldnt believe what happened next!
He kissed her and she kissed him back !
"I thought you were?!?" I gaped at the sight of the two adults and I just deadpanned.
"she's my type of girl and one thing lead to another," he grinned lovingly at Chris and she giggled, "but right now I think we all should get a move on before something gets a little excited!" he laughed.
I just put my head in my Hands and laughed.
"how do you like he car Trent?" she asked me Slyly.
"you set this up?" I laughed and looked up
at her with a big grin on my face.
She just nodded her head and smiled.
Matt stepped out side looking slightly scared.
"what's wrong?" I asked as I walked towards him, he embraced me in a Hug like never before.
"We are moving Trent..." He said as the tears streamed down his eyes.
"what?" I pulled away from him and I felt like curling up in a ball and crying on the spot. I looked towards Chris and shivered , " that's what this is about?"
She nodded her head and her tail went between her legs. "I did this so you could come see us on the weekends..."she frowned and flattens her ears." we are moving close to the police academy so you could stay the night with us on weekends,"
I let out a sigh of relief and looked back at Matt. He was laughing his ass off and I slapped him on the shoulder, "jackass" I laughed and he kissed my muzzle. I stretched up to meet his and grabbed his head lightly.
"Ahem?" Seth cleared his throat as if to say hurry up.
I reluctantly pulled away from Matt and took his hand and ran off to my car. "sorry Seth!" I giggled
Seth and chris hopped into the back seat, and Matt got into the passenger seat, I leaned over and kissed his muzzle before I turned the key in the ignition making the car roar to life once more.
Once we were all In The car I backed out of the drive way and headed towards the police academy God can only know the hell I faced in the last two months, and now I have seen what happens when every one comes from different worlds.
