Whit If...
"Daniel you have one of the most random minds I know." Jessica said to me laughing.
"What all I asked is a simple and justified question." I said to her as we walked through the park.
I always enjoyed walking in the park with Jessica, and today was a perfect day. There wasn't a Cloud in the sky. The leaves have started to change awaiting for the changing season. It was about 75 out side with a breeze which made it a perfect day for a walk in the park.
"A justified question?" she looks at me as if I'm crazy but with love.
"Yes I justified question."
"Justin you asked me what would happen if us humans never evolved into what we are now." she said trying to keep a straight face with no luck. "That my love just proves the fact that you have the most random mind I know of."
"That might be true but you didn't answer my question."
We sat down on a park bench as Jessica opened her bag of bread crumbs and started to feed the birds.
"Well for one all of this." she points at the city that circles the
Park. "Will be nothing but one big forest."
"Go on."
She threw some more bread crumbs out."Well the pigeons I am now feeding will be a different color, cause they have evolved to fit in with the city. Along with some of the other animals."
I looked at her and pretended to be very interested. Making intriguing faces.
"Your enjoying this aren't you?"
"Yes I am this is very interesting."
"How come the sudden interest in this topic? Lately you've been asking me a bunch of random questions."
"Have I? I haven't noticed what were some of the others?"
I pretended not to know.
"Well let's se last week you asked me if I could be any animal what would I be."
"Oh yea I remember now and you said a grey wolf. I still don't see why you don't want to be a mountain lion with me."
"Maybe that's cause I'm a family person and the feline category besides lions are loners. I like to be around the people that make my life worth living. Like you for instant without you who would I have to keep me on my feet? Your like the random spontaneous side I never had."
"True true..." I leaned in to kiss her.
She welcomed it with no fight. So there we were in the middle of the park. It's time for me to pull out the surprise. I backed off the kiss and she looked at me with confused eyes.
"Now why did you do that?"
I didn't answer her I knelt on the ground and pulled a little box out of my pocket.
"The grey wolf know as Jessica." she let out a laugh and just sat there watching me. "Will you marry me?"
I opened the box and showed her the ring I picked out for her. It was gold with a sapphire gem in the middle of it. Her favorite gem.
After I didn't get a response for a little while I looked up to see her crying.'what did I do?'
"Jessica?"
She stopped crying for a little bit but just got up and walked away. I just stood the in disbelief as I watched her run away. 'I guess that's a no then.' I got off of the ground and made the long trip back home. 'I don't understand I thought she loved me? Just goes to show you don't know someone like you think you do.'
"Sir if I could ask you a question?" I head this old lady ask me as I walked past her.
I stopped to hear her out but didn't say anything. She took it as the go ahead.
"Well I couldn't help but over hear what you asked that girl back there."
I looked down at the ring still in me hand. Thinking about what I'm going to do now. She contented to talk but I didn't hear her I was thinking about Jessica. I felt her touch my shoulder.
"Yea?"
"Well would you?" she asked me tilting her head.
"Sorry would I what?" I asked her feeling bad I wasn't paying attention.
She sighed and asked," Would you like to see what the world would be like if humans didn't evolve? I can make it happen for you."
I decided to amuse her,"Sure why not what would it be like?"
She chanted something I didn't catch and said," At midnight new years eve you shall find out."
Then walked away. I started my trip back home not paying any attention to what the old lady said. I was thinking more about what am I going to say to Jessica , and will she ever even talk to me anymore. I kept on kicking myself mentally,' to soon i went to fast.' it didn't take me to long to get home. I live in an apparent building on the third floor. I walked into my pitiful building. It was just a small one bedroom one bath and a living room dinning room kitchen combo. But it was home. I put the ring on the side table bye chair and noticed I had a message. 'I wonder who that could be.' so I played the message.
"One new message from Jessica."
I turned off the machine after I heard that. A part of me wanted to hear it but the other part was like 'Fuck her if she thinks she's to good for me she can burn in hell.' So I just walked to the kitchen and made some dinner. After I ate some mac and cheese I walked to the living room and turned on the tv. I started to flip through the channels when I realized the only thing on was romance.
"What the fuck I get left by the girl I thought who loved me and now your playing nothing but romances!"
I turned off the tv and my attention was brought back the the answering machine. 'Might as well see what she has to say.'
"Hey Justin it's me I know your not home yet so I'm just going to leave what I wanted to say on your machine. Um well you see I do love you Justin and if I was going to marry anyone it would be you."
"But" I said aloud knowing it was coming.
"But you see I'm just a little confused right now. I mean we just got out of high school last year and well I have my whole life ahead of me and I was planning on traveling the world. But I do love you so much. Liston I'm at my parents in manhattan I'm going to stay here for the holidays. I just need sometime to think about what you asked so. Ummmmm how about we get together for the new years eve party and I'll let you know my answer there. I hope you have a happy holiday. I love you. And I'm truly sorry about walking away. End of message."
I sat there thinking about what she said. 'Maybe I was going a little to fast. I guess I'll find out this new years eve.' I got up turned the calendar to December and circled the 31. And wrote down tday for truth day.
Well thats it the intro to my stroy I hope you all enjoyed and I plan on writing more. So leave your comments good and bad im up for anything.
