Dick awakens in the twilight, and awakens Julie in the process. Alpha Centauri B is near the horizon and appears about as bright as the sun does from Neptune. It is still dark enough to see the brighter stars. Dick shows Julie the sun in the far northern sky, which appears as a yellow star about as bright as Betelgeuse from earth. At this location, the sun never sets. Julie marvels at just how far she is from the home she has always known. "In my 42 years, I never thought I would leave earth," she said. "If you could go back, would you," Dick asked.
"What for? I'm an only child, and my parents died a long time ago. My only family is my husband, and he treated me like shit. I remember when he and I had mind blowing sex and I vowed to stay with him forever. Then he changed, as if the devil took his soul. You see the marks on my neck. That is from when he tried to kill me. I don't want to think about him again. He'll never find me here."
"When it gets light, I'll take you to the lake and show you your reflection. The scars are gone. I can heal almost anything."

"Thank you. You don't really think fat is ugly. You're just repeating what others have told you." Rose then awakened. She took flight then grabbed Julie just below her breasts. Dick and Rose flew toward the mountains and landed near a high elevation lake. They were airborne for over an hour. Julie marveled at their endurance. "What does it take to become a dragon?"
"Well, for one thing, you must be fearless. I'm not sure you are yet, but Dick and I are working on it. Remember what Dick and I argued about yesterday - the stuff about him eating me. Yeah, that actually is part of the process. When you can arrogantly masturbate as you stare death in the face, then you are ready."

"Why did you do that," Julie asked.
"It was a test. You failed. But we still love you, and you shall have more chances."
"You know when I say fuck it doesn't mean I'm angry or scared. I actually thought it was funny. I was kind of hoping you would eat me. Maybe I just get off on being scared."
"When you are ready, there will be no such misunderstandings. You won't get off on being scared because you won't be scared in the first place. You still have much to learn. Dragons aren't just fearless: we are also wise."
"Julie," Dick said. "You may be fucked up, but we wouldn't have you any other way. Normal humans are not welcome here." They all had a good laugh.
