The Greensvale Misfits, Chapter Two - That Awkward Moment...
#1 of The Greensvale Misfits (Original)
Upon entering the school, Kanar immediately got the feeling of what he thought prison would most likely be like. The lobby was also grey-granite, floor, walls, and ceiling, with only a handful of blue and yellow banners with the word "Centurions" daubed on them in white to spruce up the otherwise grimly functional room.
They were directed towards a nearby hallway by a rather pudgy and wary-looking man, who seemed relieved as soon as they filed past him. Kanar shook his head slightly and, along with the others, entered a classroom at the far end of the corridor. Once inside, they each found a desk and sat down, making themselves comfortable as the instructor, an older fellow with graying hair and muttonchops began to speak.
"I would like to welcome you, new students, to the Greensvale Area High School. I'm hoping you know the rules, but for those of you that don't, I shall reinforce them now."
Kanar tuned out as the man began rambling on about the school policies and the rules of his class - human history, bah! - before eventually they were dismissed to go to their other classes.
Their schedules were all the same - first history, then gym, then math, then language arts, then lunch, then biology, then art, next music, and at the end of the day was a study period. Each teacher explained their rules, and gave what was, in Kanar's opinion, boring information. Each one of their classes also had around seven to ten human teenagers, since this was apparently a large school.
Finally, the day ended, and Kanar and the others found their way to the bus that they had ridden in on.

That night, after walking home from the bus stop, he was greeted by his parents when he came in the door - his mother, a small Dalynther with pink scales, red eyes, and red hair, while his father was an obviously masculine creature, heavily muscled and tall, with black scales, a bronze belly, red hair, and silvery eyes. He returned their cheerful greetings and answered their questions about his first day of school and walked up the stairs to his room.
His room was a medium-sized affair, with tan carpeting and plaster walls, a black-sheeted bed in one corner, a nightstand, a television, a computer, and a number of posters of his favourite bands - Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeath, Manowar, and many others.
He wandered over to the computer and browsed the internet for a while, using Google to find subjects that interested him, and around eight o'clock he stopped, walking over to the bathroom for a shower.
The bathroom was almost as large as Kanar's room itself, with a massive bathtub slash shower - almost a small pool, really - occupying one side, a sink and toilet the other. It was towards the shower that he went.
He stripped out of his clothing quite comfortably, and began filling the tub up with water. After a time, he slipped into the water, turning it off and lying back in the tub, the width accommodating his wingspan and tail length. Once he had made himself comfortable, he closed his eyes and let his mind wander to the events of the day, particularly the other Dalynther he had seen on the bus - in particular, the female ones.
The gray-scaled, green eyed and haired one was interesting, but she seemed to be a little distracted. The black-scaled one with the tattoos, she was nice too, with a beautiful figure, but she was too feisty for him. The third one, though, the rainbow-scaled one, she was... Well, she was perfect, to him. A perfect body, a quiet smile, a beautiful voice... All of the best characteristics he could think of seemed to be mixed together in her. He sighed and smiled as he felt a pleasant stirring in his groin and part of his shaft rose above the surface of the already-clear, foot-tall water, granting him a fine view of it all. He had never actually seen a female without anything but her scales on, but he could well imagine, given the things he had learned, and he smiled even wider at the pleasure of such rich imagination.
A few minutes later, he heard a clacking sound near the window and didn't pay much attention to it until he heard a small gasp, the gasp of, of course, a female Dalynther. He sat up straight, grabbing the towel from the side of the tub and covering himself - not, of course, that he had anything to be ashamed of, shaft being as big as it was - and looked to see who it was by the window.
It was the rainbow-scaled female from school. Kaytha, her name was. She appeared mortified, her multi-coloured eyes wide and averted, looking at the ground, she was blushing, and she had her hands folded behind her back.
"I-I didn't mean to, uhm, walk in like... like this. I j-just saw a l-light in the window, I didn't hear water running, a-and... and... well, uhm, so I climbed up here a-and found you..." she said as she blushed even deeper, obviously embarrassed by the encounter.
"...Why were you trying to find me, anyway...?" he asked as the thought occurred to him.
"I just wanted to talk, is all..." she said, shrugging sheepishly.
"About what?"
"Just... talk."
"Right, right..."
Shaking his head slightly, he gestured towards the door. "You can wait in my room until I get dressed, if you wouldn't mind."
"Oh, oh, of course." With that, she hastily left, leaving him in privacy. He sighed, standing up and closing the door, then grabbing some underwear, jeans and a shirt, dressing quickly before leaving and heading to his room again, where he found a still-embarrassed Kaytha waiting, sitting on the edge of his bed.
"So, then, what did you want to talk about?"
"We... could talk about ourselves."
"...Okay, then. I'll go first. What do you want to know?"
"Where are you from, Kanar?" As they continued to speak, he noticed that she had a faint foreign accent - German, perhaps?
"I used to live with my family down in New Mexico, but we decided to move up here when we heard about the program for us. What about you?"
"Oh, I lived with my foster parents in Germany." She shrugged uncomfortably.
"Foster parents?" Now she had caught his attention. "What do you mean?"
"N-nothing, nothing, never mind. Forget I said anything."
"Hrmph. Fine."
The pair continued their banter for a time longer, describing some of their more cherished memories, before eventually Kaytha realised how late it was and disappeared through Kanar's window.
Kanar sighed, lay back on his bed, and began to replay every moment that had occurred that day.
It had been a very interesting day.
