Chapter 1: The Rescue
A bright new day dawned over the sandy flats where Dust lived. Dust was a sandshrew. He lived in a dry sandy area close to the edge of a large cliff. He poked his head out of his hole and looked around. His ears told him of a fight.
"Rai! Rai! Rai!"
Dust came out of his burrow and headed towards the sound. There he saw a rhydon pummelling a raichu. The raichu lay down not attempting to escape, just crying out every time rhydon struck. Dust span around faster and faster until he managed to kick up a blinding sandstorm towards the rhydon. He ran after it and slid under the flying sand where he grabbed the unconscious raichu and sprinted back to his burrow with it.
Inside he carried the raichu to one of the hollow rooms. The room's floor was covered with dry grass and ferns making a soft bed to lie on. The raichu was bleeding in several places and Dust decided, after examining her, that she had about four broken bones. He bought some long leaves and some sticks and bandaged the raichu and made splints for it. He then poured a mixture of water and honey down its throat and left.
He poked his head out of his burrow and saw the rhydon still searching angrily for the raichu. He didn't know if the rhydon had seen him save the raichu or not but in any case he didn't want to go anywhere near the rhydon. Instead he went into the burrow and began to dig a tunnel to a nearby farm.
Chapter 2: Recovery
Dust had settled into a routine, everyday he would go to the raichu, he had found out her name was Sparkler, give her breakfast and change her bandages. He would then have his own breakfast and travel underground to the nearby milktank farm where he would collect leaves, sticks and milk. He would then return home and rest or do whatever needed doing.
Dust was now on the way to the farm, a small bag and some gourds strapped to his back. His tunnel came up a little way from the hut the milktank used to get away from the heat. He put the gourds down and climbed out holding the bag. He wandered around a bit, collecting straight sticks and long wide leaves. He then took them back to the tunnel and come out with the gourds. He politely asked a nearby milktank for some milk and filled up the gourds. He took them to the tunnel and came back to drink. He sat in front of the milktank right near her udder and sniffed at the teats. He licked one of the teats softly before closing his mouth and sucking. As he sucked he rubbed the teat with his tongue and pushed his body against the udder, savouring the warm milk flowing into his mouth. He paused to take a breath and licked the remaining milk off the teat. He had just started sucking again when he heard the sound of hooves.
"Shrew?" he asked the milktank.
"Moo, it's the farmer on his rapidash."
Sure enough the farmer and the rapidash came into view soon in front of a cloud of dust. Dust looked around, he knew he couldn't make it to his hole before the farmer arrived. The farmer would be angry if he saw that Dust had taken some milk, so Dust had to get away. Dust turned, saw the nearest open door and ran inside.
Inside Dust sighed with relief and looked at the shelves. The room was a storeroom and was almost completely shelves. On the shelves were numerous berries. Poison cure berries, Burn cure berries, normal health restore berries and numerous other ones. Dust glanced around wide-eyed before grabbing as many as he could hold. Once the farmer left he ran to his hole collected all his supplies and headed home.
"Sparkler, Sparkler, checky what I got!" He shouted in his fast speech.
"What?" she asked sleepily.
"Berries, berries, healing berries," he said pushing a handful under her nose. She picked some up with her good paw and put them on her chest. She looked at one cautiously and then popped it in her mouth and ate it. She waited a bit then her eyes lit up.
"They work! I feel much better!" she yelled enthusiastically before stuffing a whole bunch in her mouth.
After a few minutes she was up and running about.
"Thanks Dust," she said after happily doing cartwheels and the like up and down his tunnels.
She was short for a raichu and was almost the same size as him.
"Ah, it's nothing," he said embarrassed.
Chapter 3: Blossom
Spring had begun about a week ago and Sparkler and Dust were now firm friends. They were now planning on going on a picnic and were just about to leave.
"Got everything?" asked Sparkler from a different room.
"Berries, check. Milk, check. Uh, yup, yup, yup. Everything's here," he called back.
"Okay, let's go."
Dust carried the stuff they were bringing and Sparkler decided on where they were going. She eventually settled on a flat rock near the edge of the cliff. They could see down the massive drop to the land below. Green plains and a silver river snaking below.
"It's beautiful," Dust commented, "I like this spot."
"I'm glad," Sparkler replied.
They unpacked the picnic stuff and began to eat. Afterwards they looked out over the land again.
"Maybe one day I'll go back," Sparkler said suddenly.
"What do you mean?" asked Dust.
"Go back to where I came from."
"Where is that?" asked Dust curiously.
"I don't remember where exactly. I left as soon as possible. I can't remember why, but I'll now the way home."
Dust said nothing but wondered if it was the similar to the way he knew where everything was underground.
"I left for adventure," she said after a pause, "Yes, that was it. I was bored there. I certainly got the excitement. The excitement would have killed me if you hadn't saved me," she paused, "Why did you save me?"
"I don't' know. Why?"
"I was just thinking, If I came across an injured Pokemon of another type would I help it? Especially, as in your case, it would put me at risk."
"I guess I just felt I should save you. It was a while ago anyway. I can't explain it."
"I have an idea. It might sound crazy but I like you and I think you like me."
Dust stared at her. The sandshrew couldn't deny feeling something for her, he had just never tried to put it in words, he loved her.
"I ... I think you might be right," he said finally, "I love you."
"And I love you."
The two pokemon moved closer and rested their heads together.
Chapter 4: Passion
That night they sat on either side of the rock they used as a table. Eating in silence, using the time to stare at each other.
"Goodnight," Dust said as he got up to go to bed.
"'Night," Sparkler said as she went to her room.
The whole burrow was dark and silent. Shafts of moonlight shone in through the tiny airholes poked in the ceiling. Suddenly a figure moved through one and headed toward Sparkler's room.
"Sparkler, you awake? Can I come in?"
It was Dust. Sparkler nodded and he entered the room. Sparkler as sitting on the soft bed of dry grass watching as dust came and sat next to her. They said nothing and just sat.
Dust eventually turned to face Sparkler, both pokemon looked at each other then leant forward, their lips touching. They held each other and their lips parted. Dust moved his tongue into Sparkler's mouth where it curled around Sparkler's tongue. Sparkler slowly leant back and Dust followed, lying on her stomach. Their tongues slowly glided past one another. Sparkler closed her eyes as Dust started to lick her face in long sides (Does anyone know a better word?). Finally he licked her lips, his tongue travelling up to the inside corner of her eye, his tongue licked her eyelid and ended at the base of her ear. He repositioned himself so he was lying completely on her. Sparkler lifted her hind legs and grabbed his tail pulling him against her. He slid gently inside of her and began to move in and out. A shudder went through Sparkler's body and she raised her head, her tongue came out and travelled from his neck up to his mouth where it pushed and rubbed his tongue. Dust pushed harder going in deeper and deeper. Sparkler's long tail came up and wrapped around the two of them pulling their bodies closer to each other and rubbing Dust's back gently. The two had their eyes closed, they were panting, licking each other as they moved faster and faster until they came. Then they unwrapped their trembling bodies and after a few more affectionate licks settled down to sleep.
Chapter 5: A plan
"I'm just going out for a while," Dust called to Sparkler.
"Okay, be careful. That rhydon is still around," said Sparkler as she walked into the same room.
"Okay."
Dust leaned forward and licked Sparklers cheek before climbing out the tunnel into the bright sunlight.
Sparkler was cleaning up the burrow, changing the grass for bedding and making sure the tunnel walls were tightly packed when she heard Dust give a loud cry. It sounded important so she quickly hurried towards his voice. She found Dust lying facedown a short way from the tunnel entrance. A large cut ran down his back and the blood trickled down the grooves between his armour plates. Sparkler could hear the rhydon still stamping around near the entrance to the tunnel. She held Dust's hands and began to pull him deeper into the tunnel. As he went he left a glistening trail of sticky red blood along the floor.
"Are you okay? Can you hear me?" asked Sparkler in a panic.
"Back hurts, can't ... move it."
"Don't worry, just stay here," She called as she disappeared down a tunnel.
She soon came back with the last few remaining berries and proceeded to give them to him one by one. As he ate she watched the cut on his back slowly close. Afterwards she wiped the remaining blood away with a leaf.
"That rhydon's crazy," Sparkler said at suppertime, "It tries to kill almost any pokemon that comes near it."
"But what can we do?" asked Dust, "It's a lot stronger than us."
"I've been working on a plan all day," she replied, "And I think it'll work. We need to get some human stuff, but that shouldn't be too hard, we'll just go to the farm. We'll need lots of explosives. Then we find were there's an overhang in the cliff and we make a ring of explosives. You lure rhydon there and ran away, I'll use thunderbolt to detonate the charges and rhydon falls to his death. What do you think?"
"I think it's great! When do we do this?"
"Very soon. Before rhydon wanders off or something."
"Okay, I know where the farmer keeps his dynamite."
"Good, we'll plant the stuff underground, so dig some tunnels that open on the cliff face."
Chapter 6: Preparation
It was two days after Sparkler had told Dust her plan. The day after Dust had dug tunnels to find an overhang and had dug tunnels where the explosives would be put. All they needed now were the explosives.
"Be careful," Dust cautioned, as they climbed out the hole on the farm, "The farmer doesn't like wild pokemon on his farm and he rides a rapidash."
"Okay, I'll keep a lookout," Sparkler replied, glancing around.
"The explosives are in that shed there," Dust said pointing.
They made their way to the shed and opened it. Dust had been right, the shelves were packed with explosives and wire.
"What on earth does he need all this stuff for," asked Sparkler.
"Building, removing rubble, making a dam, some other things, maybe he's a terrorist. I don't really know."
The two collected a bunch of explosives and before they left Sparkler grabbed a length of wire and slipped across her body.
They arrived back home and began to strategically place the explosives in the tunnels. Once they were all in position Dust dug a hole to hide from the explosion in and Sparkler ran a wire from each explosive to her hiding place where she could see what was going on.
"Right, all looks fine," Dust said, "Finally we can stop that mad rhydon before he hurts someone else."
"And then it will finally be safe to go above ground."
Chapter 7: Execution
Sparkler waited, surveying where rhydon would fall, the detonation wire held tightly in her paw. Suddenly there was an angry roar and Dust came into her line of sight followed closely by the angry rhydon. He went close to the edge of the cliff then rolled into a ball and under the rhydon and ran away. The rhydon span around, its tail knocking Dust, who shot into his hole at high speed. As soon as Dust was out of the danger zone Sparkler released her thunderbolt attack.
"Raichuuu!"
The electricity sparked along the wires, causing each pack of dynamite to explode. The rhydon roared angrily and took a step toward Sparkler, just then the ground gave way. Comprehension dawned in the rhydon's eyes as he began to fall, surrounded by the ground he had been standing on. Dust and Sparkler looked over the edge of the cliff and saw a pile of rubble and a bloody rhydon corpse crushed by the falling debris.
"We did it!" Dust yelled ecstatically.
The two pokemon did a high five then Dust jumped onto Sparkler, knocking her down and licking her face enthusiastically. Her hind legs came up and over his tail pulling him into her, her tail wrapped around them, gentling stroking Dust as the two lay in each others arms, their tongues sliding over one anothers.
The End
