I haven't written a story in double forever. I've got some time this morning, and this idea as well as about a dozen others have been kicking around in my head but I never get to writing any of it. I'm not going to ramble on forever, so here we go.

Slowly the old SUV came to a halt in the gravel driveway of a moderately run down cabin sitting on a lake. He began unpacking his items from the vehicle into the cabin, reminiscing of old childhood days, playing on the lake, getting lost for hours in the endless forests, ah yes, the forests. Hours later and long after the sun had set the cabin had finally started to look habitable again, almost like in his memories as a child, yet with a little bit of his more modern technological flare. Kai was just about done putting the finishing touches on the place as he looked at his clock.

"Eleven Thirty.... Damn I guess it's about time to get to sleep" Kai said as he looked around at the interior of the cabin. It was a small building, but large enough for him. The main floor had a living space, a kitchen divided by a counter, and a bathroom and laundry room across from that down the hall. Above all this was an open air loft where the bedroom rested. "Taigi.... Seriously? Is that you?" Kai questioned unsure of himself at this point.

"Really Kai, it's me" Taigi said as he stepped off of Kai. Kai backed away slowly on the ground, back against a stone wall. Taigi was noticeably hurt by this.

"I'm sorry, this is just so strange to me I don't mean to offend you." Kai apologized after seeing he had possibly hurt the wolf.

"It's fine, I guess I'm not exactly a usual site for humans." Taigi responded happily wagging his tail. Kai slowly stood up and approached the wolf, still in shock and wondering if his mind was playing tricks on him. He reached out and slowly touched the wolf's peck, at which point the wolf lunged forward trapping Kai in a hug.

"I missed you buddy, really, it's been so many years and nobody really comes by here to keep me company." Taigi said muffled under the tight hug against Kai's body. "I.... Missed you too Taigi. While growing up I wished you were there a few times in my life, I always figured you were just a part of my imagination though." He said reluctantly.

"I feel like there is so much to catch up on, lets go for a walk around the forest for old time's sake." Taigi said as he let Kai out of the embrace and guided him to a trail. Over the next few hours Kai and Taigi became close friends once again and explained parts of their lives that had previously gone unanswered. While Kai had known Taigi as a child, he had never really questioned what, or who he was back then. "I'm sorry to hear of your uncle." Taigi said slightly saddened.

"Ah it's not a big deal, it happens at some point with everyone, he was getting old." Kai responded. They were beginning to come upon familiar territory near the cabin when Taigi brought up another question.

"Have you secured a mate for yourself whilst living your life?"

"Aawww, well, you know. They come and go, nothing really that has stood out. A few girlfriends here and there but it's hard finding someone that I think is a perfect match for me.
