Chapter 5

"God Damnit Taomon would you just stop running!" I was becoming exhausted from chasing after Raya's mother.

"Never!" She was becoming desperate, she couldn't get far enough away from me and I didn't feel like running to the edge of the Digital World.

"Mother please, if you won't listen to him listen to me, besides it's getting dark!" I knew this would work, Taomon had enough trust in her daughter to listen.

"Fine, but if you try anything..."

"Yeah, yeah, anyway I'm sure we're all pretty hungry so let's settle down" The three of us set up camp but Taomon was making it more difficult than It had to be. "You know if you'd keep your eyes off me and on your work we'd have a much easier time getting this finished"

"And leave myself open to attack from you? I think not"

"Whatever, you really should trust your daughter more. I haven't killed her so what makes you think I'd kill you?"

"You have a point, fine I'll calm down"

"Good, now If I might ask, do you know how far it is to Kitsune Valley?"

"I'm area is familiar to me so I'd have to say that we only have another day's walk"

"That's great! Now I can try something I was saving"

"What's that?" Taomon was beginning to worry. Fear was building in her tone.

"We can eat something special I saved" I got into my pack and dug out three packages. "We're going to have MREs!"

Taomon was puzzled, "MRE? What is that?"

"It means Meal Ready to Eat. It's used by people in the military while they're out on missions so they can carry full meals using the least amount of space. I grabbed a few before we left"

Raya jumped into the conversation "Okay let's eat then!" I handed each of them an MRE, I got Spaghetti, Raya got Salisbury steak, and Taomon got Mashed potatoes and gravy. I opened each of them and told each of them to empty their bags. Raya got the Salisbury steak, an icecream wafer, and some chocolate drink mix. Taomon got her Mashed potatoes, as well as a cookie, and some strawberry drink mix. Finally I got my spaghetti, some toffees, and some chocolate drink mix. I gave each of them a water bottle and we got to eating. I gave them directions the entire time because there wasn't an instruction manual.

We got finished with dinner just before it became night. "Alright, time for bed!" We laid down and went to bed. I laid on my sleeping bag for a while before I was able to sleep. I finally fell asleep after closing my eyes for about 15 minutes.

I was swimming in a sea of darkness. I felt weightless, just floating there. I spoke to no one in particular "Where am I?"

A voice made itself known, "You're in our mind"

"What do you mean our mind?"

"We both share the same body, the same mind, you and I are both you"

"Okay, that makes no sense but whatever. What or who are you?"

"I have no name or a classification. You may call me Chaos though"

"Strange name for a strange entity, huh?"

"Hehehe, yeah, I think we'll get along quite well in the future"

"That's good, I'll be going to sleep now"

"Don't worry about that, you already are"

"Oh, so...Can I ask a few questions then?"

"Ok, shoot"

"Were you the one who took control of me in the fight with Taomon, and did you actually cause what happened to that Devimon?"

"Yes, but you provided me with the materials though"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that you're one sick and disturbed individual, it was your memories and subconscious which stored that deathtrap, I just picked it out for use"

"Well, I guess that's a good and bad thing then"

"I see what you mean, you're thinking isn't healthy but at the same time it's what helped me to save your little group"

"Here's another question, are you out to gain your strength, take over my mind and kill a bunch of people"

"That depends, if something bad happens then it's possible I'll control you and I'm not the kindest guy around by what you've seen me do. I don't want you to die though. If you die I die and I wouldn't like that. I'm going to give you some of my power so we'll be able to think to each other, just don't do anything stupid" I felt as if something was occupying a part of my mind.

Raya was trying to wake me up, "Joey, it's time to get up, he's not waking up. Mom can I have some help?"

"Certainly" Taomon slapped me full on the face, yet I stayed asleep. "This is getting very irritating" Chaos decided to let me out of my sleep and I opened my eyes. "You sure know how to sleep" Taomon joked.

"Sorry, I was up a little late thinking last night" We packed up and headed out, "To Kitsune valley!"

We were walking up small hill when the digivice gave a beep. It had changed from an arrow to a blip on a map, we were getting close. When we got over the hill we saw it. Raya was estatic "Hooray, we're almost there!"

"You wanna race?"

"Oh, yeah! I'm gonna beat you" She took off toward her home.

"Oh no you're not!" I chased after her down the valley. Taomon just sighed "Children" and ran after us.

Raya was getting farther and farther forward, 'Hey Chaos, got a way to help me win this race?'

'How bad do you want to win?'

'Just don't hurt, maim, kill, or cause mental or physical pain to anyone'

'awww, you're no fun, fine I'll do it. Just give me control for a little bit. I won't block your consciousness so you'll be able to see what I do and can tell me want you want control back' I gave control to Chaos and just watched. I saw myself running increasingly fast. Chaos was better at this than I thought. He quickly caught up to Raya who seemed quite surprised at our passing. Chaos increased his speed and reached the village long before Raya. Raya was running towards me but as she got closer she noticed a sinister smile on my face and as she got close enough she noticed my eyes were red. She slowed down with a look of horror on her face.

"What's wrong, you look like you've seen a ghost?" Chaos talking with my voice sounded deeper and slightly more evil than my evilest laugh.

"Who...Who are you?"

"Oh me? Don't worry I'm not going to hurt anyone, but if you must know you can call me 'Chaos'"

"How do I know you're telling the truth? And where is Joey?"

"Fine, I get out for just a little while and someone wants to get rid of me, I tell you it's not fun being stuck in there all the time" Chaos gave me back control, my voice returned, my eyes went back to white and my posture shifted.

"HAHA, I won! So how'd you like my little friend?"

'Hey I'm not little!'

'Shut up, I'm trying to be dramatic'

"He scared me, from what's happened before he didn't cause many good moments"

"Except for the saving my ass a few times"

'You're damn right!'

"Alright, just don't let him hurt anyone" I decided to mess with her head a little, just for the sake of being funny.

I used my most evil voice "Oh, I will! Just kidding"

"Oh, you" she playfully smacked my arm.

Taomon made her precense known, "You two never notice anyone around do you?"

"So I'm guessing you got to meet Chaos too?"

"Yes, but I still don't like him"

'Hey, if you've been cooped up in a small space for so long you wouldn't be nice either!'

"Whatever, now lead the way" We walked through the village, there were many prying eyes of the Renamon that lived in Kitsune Valley. It made me feel very insecure, we walked past the huts, each one becoming more and more beautiful. Finally we stopped at the largest house, it looked like a giant mansion. My eye twitched at all the thoughts that passed through my mind, astonishment emitted from my every movement.

Chaos decided to speak up 'Is she royalty or something?' I decided I'd like some answers and turned to Raya.

"Raya, what is this?"

"Well, I didn't want to tell you this but my mother is the Village Chief"

"That what I thought, now if you'd give me a moment" my stare became blank as I rid my mind of the many thoughts in my mind, and I started laughing "Hahahahahahahaha! Hooo"

"Joey, are you alright?"

"HAHAHAHAHAHA, yeah I'm fine"

"If you're finished I'd like to get some things done, my child would you mind taking your..."friend" for a tour"

"No problem, let's go" Taomon and us split up, she probably had legal things to get done. We went around the house, each room bigger than the next. The kitchen had cupboards upon cupboards of food, the best cooking utensils, silverware, you name it. We moved through the halls, the countless paintings, rooms, and high ceilings made this place look like a mansion from a dream. We finally got to the last room.

"Here's my room!" She opened the door, I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked like if you could give Bill Gates a sex change and use his paycheck to fund the room of the Queen of England. It had magnificent walls, a plush, beautiful carpet. There were rows upon rows of figurines of previous Renamon heroes on large shelves, huge walk-in closets, a full-body mirror bordered with gold, and finally a huge bed that looked like it could fit 5 of Raya and keep a foot of shoulder room and to top it off it had a full-bed, thick, crimson comforter.

"Dear Lord! I couldn't even dream this up, let alone ever see it in real life!"

"Please, you're making me blush"

"Then you'd better get ready for it a lot because with a room like this compliments should come naturally"

Raya brought me into a tight embrace "Oh, that's why I fell in love with you"

Chaos spoke up in my mind 'Woot, you sure are the ladies man'

"What?"

"Raya, get off of him this instant, I'm going to have a long talk with you!" We got cleaned up and Raya followed her mother into the hall. I couldn't make out much of the conversation so I just took a chair and waited. When Raya came out Taomon looked ticked and Raya looked very confident. "Alright, we've come to an agreement, you two can be...mates" She didn't like it but I felt like I was a mile high "but! You are not to make a mess, you've already stained these sheets and I don't want anything else messed with. You're lucky I have a spell for it or I'd have done something not to your liking"

"You hear that?! We can stay together!" Raya grabbed me and we kissed passionately, right in front of Taomon, whose ear was twitching in annoyance.

"I'm going to leave now, get some sleep you two"

"Night Mother!"

"And No Mating!" Raya giggled at the added comment.

"So, our little tussle tired me out, how about we listen to your mother...and my Step-mother and get some sleep"

"mmkay, let's hop in" We jumped into Raya's bed and cuddled until we fell into a sweet sleep in each other's arms.

I was in the sea of darkness again, but this time there was a dark version of me standing with me. 'That was pretty fun huh?'

'You know it, hehehe'

'Yes, everything's falling into place for you, just don't forget that I like to be out of this prison'

'Don't worry, you won't have to be trapped too much, I'll just make a schedule or something with Raya and you'll be out much more than before'

'Thanks, you just don't know what it's like to stay in one spot for so long'

'Yeah, I can't stay in one spot for more than 10 minutes before I get all fidgety'

'This conversation is enjoyable but you should let your mind rest, it's going to be a fun day tomorrow'

'I know what you mean, night'

'Night' My mind brightened and the dark sea was replaced by dreams of good times with Raya, and annoying Taomon.
