Ilorek's Loneliness 2 of 7

I got bored one time, and decided I wanted to write something lighthearted, vanilla, and cute. What resulted was a story about one of my characters (A Hippogryph named Ilorek) who worked at a club flirting with, dating, and eventually wooing a cute little malamute girl by the name of Natasha. (no, has nothing to do with BD). was originally meant to be an ongoing romance/cute/flirty story, but the end of chapter 7 can be interpreted any way you see fit. I may do more one day, but for now this is what you get.

This entire story was made up on the spot with no edits and no planning. this is freeform writing, I hope there are no significant issues or errors with grammar and spelling.

Chapter 2 of 7

Ilorek's day was particularly uneventful. He woke up at around 10, went to class for noon, and was home at 5. A typical day, but that young Malamute was on his mind. She shouldn't have been, he knew better than to get dragged into flings with random people he met at the club, they always just want in his pants and are usually too scared or in pain to come back for round two.

So why did Natasha stay in his thoughts?

After he got home, he had to argue with himself. Was he going to call her? Would it be better to let it go? What if she really DID stalk him? She didn't seem the type, but he's met crazier that acted more sane, so it was never impossible. With the paper in his hand, he paced back and forth across his living room, his hooves clopping across the wood floor. He hated wood floors, being part equine sucked in that regard.

"I really shouldn't, there are plenty of girls in the world, and she just seemed creepy." He warned himself. "But then again, she was cute, and she seemed really smart." he countered. "Who knows, maybe she's a serial killer? I bet she wants to cut me up and make steaks out of me. Actually, I wonder what I'd taste like, half beef, half poultry?" He stopped to laugh at the silly thought, shaking his head as he rubbed his nares.

"You know what? Why not? What's the worst that could happen, right? I mean, all I have to do is kick her out and ignore her!" he clamped his beak shut and smiled, leaning down to pick up the phone. "But wait, she did say she was a ninja...she knows where I work and probably knows where I live. If I turn her down, she could stalk me for real..." He put the phone down hesitantly, then quickly picked it up again, dialing the numbers. Ah what the hell, live a little!

The phone rang a few times before she picked up. "Hello?"

"Hey, is this Natasha?" Ilorek asked.

"This is her, who might this be?"

"It's Ilorek, from the bar last night. You know, horsebird!"

"Oh yeah! How was school? I actually didn't expect you to call, I was a bit tired last night, kind of aloof and tipsy. Thought I scared you off." She explained, making hand motions she knew he couldn't see.

"Tipsy? I thought you said you don't drink." Ilorek accused.

"Oh I don't, I meant tired. I was kinda groggy last night, saying weird things and trying my best to not fall asleep." she paused, waiting to see if Ilorek said anything. He didn't, so she continued. "So, uh, do you want me to come over, or would you rather meet me in a crowded place, you know, make sure I don't do anything crazy. You know, like stalk you or something."

"You talk a lot." Ilorek observed, not annoyed, but overwhelmed.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I do talk a lot, but I have a lot to say, and I like to think it's worth hearing. So, local coffee pub or something?" She pressed.

Ilorek shook his head, then clued in that she couldn't see him. He wasn't usually much for phone talk. "No, I'd rather you come here."

There was a short pause on the other end. "Uh, even after all that stalker talk last night?"

"It's fine, trust me. I'm actually pretty shy, the club is all the socialization I usually get, and it can do me for the day. I usually stay at home as often as I can, I like the privacy. I don't like being gawked at in public." He explained.

"Gawked at?"

Ilorek sighed. He'd explained this to so many in the past, he was actually kind of sick of having to tell people. "I'm a rare breed, a very big one. Everyone gets a good view of the freak."

She laughed out loud on the other end, "Dude, you have to be fucking kidding me. Freak? I don't know where you grew up, but you're awesome!"

He was taken aback by her outburst, but at the same time was oddly prideful. "So, uh, you gonna come over? I'm in the Maitland towers, Apartment 204."

"Serious? Dude, I live across the road from there with some friends in the townhouses! I'll be right over!" And she hung up.

Ilorek paused for a moment, a bit of anxiety creeping into his throat, constricting him. He was expecting she lived on the other side of town or something; in the back of his mind he was hoping he'd have time to clean up!

Then again, his apartment was nearly spotless to the naked eye, but he had the eyes of a hawk, so it looked like a mess to him. "Oh man, I gotta clean up!" he whispered to himself as he tossed his phone onto the couch and started furiously cleaning; straightening magazines and picking up the few glasses that were on his coffee table.

It seemed like only a minute before his buzzer went off. He stopped dead in his tracks. It's only been a minute! What did she do, run?

He pressed the button to speak. "Yeah?"

"It's me, Natasha." she said. "Lemme in!"

Ilorek hesitated, before pressing the buzzer to open the door. He was sure she noticed, but she didn't say anything.

"Ah well, could be fun."

A few moments later, Ilorek heard a knock on the door.

"Coming!" he called. He opened the door and saw Natasha standing there, wearing baggy pants, a loose T-shirt, and she had a pad of paper sticking out of her pocket. "Well hello, come on in!" He instructed her, pointing towards his couch. "Be mindful of the feathers, it's that time of year and the mother's instincts still kick in."

She just waved him off. "It's fine, I leave white fur all over the place, nothing I can't handle." she stepped past Ilorek, taking a good, long look at his apartment. It was a very nice place, with a wall of windows leading to the porch, and only two doors. One to a bedroom and the other to a bathroom. The rest of the apartment was open, the living room, dining room, and kitchen were all joined. "Wow, nice place! Love the feel of it!"

Ilorek gently closed the door behind her. "Yeah, it's pretty cheap, but looks nice. Bachelors tend to be like that. So, what can I get you?" He offered.

She slumped down on his couch, leaning back and testing out the firmness of the cushions. "Just you." She yipped. "Come sit, you have to tell me ALL about you." She patted the couch beside her.

"Well you're awfully forward." Ilorek grumbled as he walked over to the couch.

Natasha rolled her eyes. "Oh, don't be like that, Ilorek. I told you, I'm not here to get in your pants. Besides, I doubt there's any room in there..." She pointed at his crotch.

If Ilorek could have blushed, he would have. "Now who's attempting bad jokes?" He mused as he covered himself with his hands.

"Was it funny?"

Ilorek slowly sat down in the chair beside the couch. "Only a little...but I'll explain why later. But first I have to ask you some questions: Why me? What about me interests you?"

She put her paws on her lap and took in a deep breath. "Well, to be honest I've never met a hippogryph before. Hell, I've only met a few gryphons, and Equines aren't that common either. I told you that I saw into you, through the tough exterior; I could tell there was something there and I tend to analyze the shit out of everything so I figured why not? I'm new to this town, I need more friends, why not you? You never know who's compatible till you sit down to tea!"

He wasn't sure if he was satisfied with this answer but he let her continue. "Alrighty then, I guess I have a lot to tell. What do you want to know?"

"Why don't you start from the top. Tell me everything you're comfortable sharing with a complete stranger. In turn I'll do the same for you. It's only fair."

And so he did. He started with his childhood. He was teased a lot as a kid, laughed at for being different, in spite of the fact that 'different' meant being twice the size of the other kids. He was always a deep thinker, preferring science class to gym, but his teachers still insisted he take up sports, saying he'd be 'an asset to the team'. Not wanting to disappoint, he joined anyway, but still spent more time in the library. As he grew, he became famous for his size, and he hated it. He was the biggest and strongest player on the team, taking them to two championships of the three years he played.

When it was time to move onto higher education, Ilorek decided to go into biomedical engineering, thanks in part to his experiences with sports. He wanted to learn more about the body, how it worked, and how he could make it better.

But he never had a girlfriend. He tried so very hard to woo a female, he didn't care what species they were. He grew up a crossbreed, he certainly wasn't speciest. The problem was that sex was almost impossible for him. There were no mares in the area that were interested in him, and no canines, felines, or avians were anywhere near large enough to accommodate him.

So he decided to try the other side. Perhaps if he went gay, he could enjoy it from the other end, rather than being so frustrated all the time, he could find his calling. He didn't mind it, but he preferred the females, which was a real problem. That's part of why he was in the club business, it was mostly to meet women. Sadly that backfired on him, since the girls at the club usually were only interested in one-night stands.

"So after much searching, I kind of gave up, you know?" Ilorek was explaining. "I don't want to be single forever, but I highly doubt I'll find anyone. But enough of that, I doubt you came to hear about my relationship woes."

She laughed. "Dude, it's alright. I asked to hear your story, and you told it. Sounds to me like you're pretty lonely."

Ilorek gaped his beak. "Uh yeah, that's basically it." he said with a sarcastic tone. "You're brilliant."

"Oh shuddap, I can't learn everything about you in one sitting. So you wanna hear my story?" She offered, leaning back into the arm of the sofa.

Ilorek shrugged, sipping at the water he'd poured himself while telling his story. "I guess so, you know about me. Though I doubt yours will be as interesting as mine."

"I accept your challenge! I'll probably lose but I accept it anyway!"

So she told her stories. When she was really young her parents put her through hell. While pale blue eyes used to be the norm for her species, modern families frowned upon it and wanted to change it. They put her through churches, praying on end for the Gods to change her eye color when she hit puberty, but that never happened. So they put her through surgery to see if they could change it, but that didn't work either.

She started to rebel against her parents, who were stringent purists; believers that people should only mate with their own species. She showed off her eyes instead of wearing the contacts her parents had given her. She made her 'flaw' known, and it became part of her personality.

Opting to go to school for phsychology, she had the vain hopes that she could understand her parents and others better, or maybe even change their minds about undesireable features.

"I'm only in my first semester but it's been a lot of fun so far. I haven't learned anything about how to change my parent's views, but I have learned a lot about how to poke holes in their logic!"

Ilorek nodded slowly. "Well you're right, you did lose the challenge, but it was still pretty interesting."

"You don't gotta be a bitch about it, Rek. That's my job."

He laughed. "Well, I'd say that's an offensive speciest joke, but you made it so I guess it's not so bad. Just don't go callin me birdbrained and we'll be fine."

"Agreed!" She exclaimed as she raised her own glass of water. She took another sip then put it back down, looking Ilorek in the eyes. "So, we friends now?"

He clacked his beak a bit. "I guess so, but what do friends do, really?"

Natasha stuck a bit of tongue out and pressed a finger up to her chin. "Well it depends on the kinds of friends, I guess. Some go out to clubs, some just talk all the time, others are fuckbuddies, you know?"

"Wha?" Ilorek was taken aback. "I thought you said you weren't here to get in my pants."

She flopped back, tongue lolling out. "I told you I'm not and I meant it. There's no reason to get all uppity because I make a joke. Chill out dude. I'd tell you to fly into a wall or something, but I see you don't have wings. What's up with that?"

Ilorek blushed and looked away. "Uuuh, I don't really want to talk about it. Let's just say I was born that way, okay?"

"Were you?"

"Was I what?"

"Born that way, without wings. I don't even see litte nubblies, and I bet if I checked under your shirt, there'd be no scars." She pressed.

"Look, I really don't want to discuss it, okay?" he got up to return to his sink to get a drink.

"Fine, sorry. Look, if we're gonna get to know one another, might as well get to know each other well, right?"

But right as he was getting his glass refilled, Ilorek decided it was time to turn the tables. "Okay, yeah! We met at a club, the one I work at. I've seen thousands of people go in single, come out with someone and never return or leave with that person again. In theory, a club is to meet someone to take home and fuck. You're a psychologist, I'm sure you understand where I'm going with this."

She laughed. "I think I do, but elaborate anyway."

He turned to look at her, still leaning against the countertop. "Okay, you grew up under constant pressure, told what to do and how to do it. Your parents were oppressive and told you that your very body betrayed you...so you go to school basically giving them a big old tailraise, far as you're concerned they can kiss your rump, am I right?"

She blushed and looked down, her deepening pink flesh seen through her white fur. "More or less, I guess."

"So basically you get off on showing others how much smarter you are than them. You play a wiseass knowitall as a defense mechanism." she slunk down further so he continued. "So I'm sure you don't mind when someone turns it around on you a little. I bet it's refreshing to meet someone who can talk back. Am I right?"

She nodded sheepishly.

"So then I'm sure you know, we might as well get it over with. What are your fetishes?"

Her ears suddenly perked up almost in shock. "Excuse me?" she yipped.

"You heard me. From what little I know, you seem like an open, honest, outgoing person that isn't afraid to get a little dirty to have fun, which usually means you're kinky as hell. You find people's brains fascinating, well I find people's bodies fascinating, so tell me about yours. It's only fair, right?"

She blinked in astonishment. "Uh...I guess so...?" She didn't know what more to say. It wasn't like he saw right through her or anything, she wasn't trying to be opaque, in fact she was trying to be as honest as she could, but he was still telling her things about herself even she didn't know. "So..what do you want to know?"

Ilorek leaned back against the counter again, craning his neck up for a bit before speaking. "I want to know, did you just chose me for a quick lay, or are you being honest? I don't want to come across as accusative or anything, but I've seen PLENTY of liberal-minded girls like yourself with free spirits come here for no-strings attached fun. Did you?"

"What? I don't even..why would I do that?" she was flabberghasted.

"Just answer the question." he snipped.

Natasha didn't know what to say, the truth was complicated yet simple, but she didn't quite know what to say. "Uh, yes and no?" She squeaked.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Well, I told you I'm new to the town. Right? Well my girlfriends in my dorm decided I needed to get laid since I was spending too much time studying and no time with a boyfriend..." She looked at him with her pale blue eyes. "But I told you the truth, I saw you acting the way you were and that interested me. In an odd way, sure, I guess I was kinda hoping one thing could lead to another, but I swear I told you the truth. I'm not here to fuck you, I'm here to get to know you." she pleaded, then laughed as she added, "Trust me, if I wanted to fuck you, you'd be tied up with a hardon the size of this building by now."

"'Scuse me?"

"You heard me. If I wanted to take advantage of you, you'd know it, and you'd probably like it!" she assured him. "I'm a psychologist, one of the things we learn about is sexuality and how it impacts people. I've seen and researched so many facets of our sexuality that I gave up on traditional relationships ages ago. I'm not shy, and like you observed, you could argue I'm rather adventurous."

"I see.." he hummed. "I can accept that answer then. But if we're gonna be friends, no ditching me, got it?"

"I assure you, I am not here to use you." She said, then whispered, "But if you wanted to use me, I wouldn't say no..."

Ilorek laughed and sauntered back to the couch. "You say that now, but you haven't met the beast. "

"The beast? Who names their junk 'the beast'? It sounds like a comic book character! I can just imagine it, pounding out justice with the hammer known as the beast! All bow down before it! Sacrifice your women!"

The two of them burst into laughter at the joke, imagining 'the beast' sacrificing virgins, since that's precisely what would happen if he ever met a virgin. At least that's what he liked to think.

"Come here." Natasha demanded, pointing to the floor in front of the seat she was on. "Sit down, I'm gonna do you a favor."

"What kind of favor?" Ilorek asked with a hint of suspicion in his voice.

"Just gonna help you loosen up, little bit of a backrub." She assured him.

He cringed a bit. "I dunno, that's something lovers do, and we just met. Not exactly sure if it's appropriate."

"Oh stop being such a prude. I thought I made it perfectly clear, I'm not exactly shy, and I certainly don't care about traditional values or the taboos that come with them. Now get over here, you need to relax a bit and I'll help."

Reluctantly, Ilorek moved over in front of Natasha, tensing up a bit as her paws wrapped themselves around his shoulders.

"I said relax, dude. Just trying to help a guy out."

So he did, slowly but surely. "You know...this kind of thing usually leads to sex when I have girls over."

"Well if half of what you told me is true, about all those skanks at the club trying to get a piece of your booty, then it wouldn't surprise me in the least. No sex tonight though."

As he leaned into her hands, Ilorek thought to himself You know, she just might be worth keeping around.
