Comfort
Comfort

"Seeya, 'Tasha!" the raccoon called over his shoulder as he stepped
onto the curb from the passenger's side of the car. The human waved
amiably
to him as the door closed.
"Remember that test Monday, Colin!" the fox in the back seat called.
"Ancient history, the important stuff."
Colin slung his backpack over his shoulder and stuck his tongue out at
the fox. "Just because you don't get it doesn't mean I don't, Ker," he
replied in his lightly accented voice.
"I haven't gotten it in weeks," came a laughing voice as the vehicle
pulled away. Colin chuckled and shook his head, then walked up the
half- block to the home he shared with his love. A calico cat twined
herself through his ankles as he dug out his keys, and he bent to
scratch behind her ears lightly.
"Hi, Nikki," he smiled down at her; she meowed and bent her head into
his scratching happily. She'd taken some time to get used to his
presence, but after a couple of months in the same home, she had
finally accepted him into the family. He stood and surveyed the
windows of the two-story home - nothing except a flickering light in
Erik's study upstairs that was probably his computer. Must've gone out
for a bit, the 'coon thought.
Finally digging his keys out of his jeans, Colin went to unlock the
door, only to discover it was already unlocked. He stared at it a
moment. "That's strange," he murmured. Erik was fanatical about
locking the door when he left... maybe he'd left in a hurry? The 'coon
shook his head and stepped inside, avoiding the cat angling through
his feet and locking
the door behind him.
"Erik?" he called, getting no response. He flipped on the light and
surveyed the living room; nothing but an empty tea cup on the table.
The kitchen was similarly empty. No note, nothing on the answering
machine, no sign of his mate. He shrugged and turned up the stairs.
The door to Erik's study was slightly ajar, and Colin noticed that
flickering light once again; he tossed his pack into his own study
room, then pushed the door open, and stopped dead.
"Erik?"
A set of candles flickered on the small table that sat in the middle
of the room; the skunk believed in a comfortable place to work, and
his keyboard had enough reach and his screen enough size that he could
sit across the room and type with no difficulty. He wasn't working
right now, though.
Erik sat, his knees drawn to his chest and his arms and thick, striped
tail wrapped around his feet. His head was down on his knees, staring
dully at the candles, and as Colin stepped into the room, he looked up
slightly, and the candlelight glistened off his white cheekfur, matted
and damp.
The raccoon stepped closer, slowly. "Erik? You okay, love?" he
whispered.
"No."
Colin started to get scared; he'd never seen his lover like this
before. Normally, Erik was buoyant - sure, he had his moments, and
they both knew he was depressive, but never to a point this deep. He
knelt and took one of Erik's paws; it came away from his knee limply,
sagging. "What is it?" he asked, holding the paw tight. "Is something
wrong?"
The tip of Erik's tail drooped a little, and his eyes focused on the
candles again, his head dropping onto his knees again. "They pulled my
contract."
"What?" Colin breathed, shocked. Erik had been working for several
months on a project overseeing a history of the University Village,
the area they lived in, and one that had existed along with the
University of British Columbia. "But... how could they do that?"
The skunk sighed heavily and shook his head. "They... the committee
decided they wanted a _human_ history of the area, not a fur history."
He sobbed slightly. "I showed them what I've done, all the interviews,
the writing, with everything included, and they pulled out a lawyer
and said 'It's not what we're looking for an... and... and we want a
human to do the work.'" He shook with an incongruous, tortured giggle
for a moment. "Then they said 'No offense, we're sure you're very
competent.'"
"Oh, no, love," Colin whispered, sitting next to the skunk and putting
his arms around his body. Erik uncoiled and turned towards Colin's
touch, putting his muzzle into Colin's chest and sobbing
uncontrollably. The 'coon held him as he cried, stroking his headfur,
rubbing the back of his neck and whispering soothingly in his ear.
"I thought this was going to be the one, Colin," Erik moaned. "The one
that got through the stupid prejudices, that got me into the business
for real. But those fools..."
"Those fools don't know what they're losing," Colin said firmly,
silencing Erik by pulling him to him tightly. "The work you've been
doing was wonderful. Your contract should hold them..."
Erik shook his head against Colin's chest. "No," he sighed. "I
checked. There's an escape clause that I missed the first time
through."
"Then just remember to check for that next time, love," Colin
whispered. "You can use the work you've already done for other
projects, right? So do something in competition with them!"
Erik didn't say anything for a moment, then turned his tear-streaked
face up to look at his mate. "That would really piss them off,
wouldn't it?" Colin nodded and the flicker of a smile passed over
Erik's face, then left again and he leaned back into the embrace.
Rocking back and forth, Colin held his love close, feeling him relax a
little at a time, and bent to kiss him softly on the forehead. "I love
you, Erik," he said into the curved shell of his mate's ear, which
flickered against his lips; the skunk curled his broad tail around and
lightly wrapped it around the raccoon's slim waist, and Colin twined
his own fluffy tail around the larger one holding him.
His nose brushing through the raccoon's chest fur, Erik once again
turned his face up, this time to kiss Colin's neck gently. "Thank
you," he whispered, squeezing softly with his tail. "You're so good to
me."
Colin smiled down at the skunk. "I'm always here for you, love. You
know that. Anything you want, you just have to ask."
A smile played across Erik's lips. "Make love to me?"
"That's something you don't even have to ask for, my love." Colin
stood and scooped his larger mate up, carrying him into the bedroom
they shared and setting him on their bed. He held himself leaning over
his lover and leaned forward, their muzzles meeting; Erik's lips
parted slightly, allowing Colin's tongue to touch his lightly, then
with a little more force as his paws stroked through Erik's chest fur,
claws scraping lightly against the skin beneath.
Erik smiled up at Colin as the 'coon stripped away his jeans, then
unbuttoned his love's shorts and skinned them off, leaving them both
naked. Colin stretched out along his mate's body, their fur rustling
against one another as they kissed once again, his paw following the
curve of the skunk's body to his swelling sheath, stroking it until
the pink tip emerged, his own arousal pressing to Erik's hip. The
skunk's paw started to return the favor, but Colin stopped its motion.
"Just relax, love," he whispered against Erik's neck. "You need this."
Erik nodded and lay back, his breathing starting to speed up a little
as his erection built.
Colin rolled atop his lover and kissed him in the hollow of the
throat, licked his way up to the point of his muzzle, damping the fur
slightly, then kissed both tear-dampened cheeks, tasting the salt
there. He worked his way down to Erik's chest and kissed the hardened
nipples,
then slid all the way down and kissed the pearl of liquid from the tip
of his hardness before looking back up at his lover. "Ready?" He
smiled at the languid nod he received in return, and levered himself
up, rolling his mate over to his belly.
Again pressing his body along Erik's entire length, Colin kissed the
back of the skunk's neck, sending a shiver through him as his erection
pushed against the firmness of his buttocks. He went to his knees and
nuzzled into the white patch that ran down the inside of Erik's
thighs, then flicked his tongue through it, trailing it over his soft
scrotum. Erik moaned slightly, his hips thrusting into the bed and his
tail draping across Colin's shoulders, twitching slightly.
Colin brought his tongue up and pressed it into the cleft of Erik's
buttocks, touching his sensitive flesh and earning another moan and a
low, unintelligible whisper. He smiled and nuzzled the base of Erik's
tail, which lifted up and flipped over to lay along his back, exposing
his anus for Colin's ministrations. The 'coon probed gently with his
tongue, pressing himself forward a little, circling and pressing
against the tightness there, as Erik squirmed beneath him, panting
slightly.
Finally, Colin lifted himself up and lay forward once again, the tip
of his shaft touching the wetness he had left on Erik's opening. The
skunk shivered slightly, lifting his hips towards Colin's weight, and
whispered, "Mmh, yes, love..." Colin obliged, thrusting himself
forward, feeling a little resistance before his cock found its way and
slid deep into Erik's body. Both furs moaned deeply as Colin's furred
hips met his lover's buttocks; they lay there for long moments, Colin
nibbling at his mate's neck, panting at the warmth and depth that Erik
held him, before he pulled back and began a slow, inexorable motion,
stroking his shaft into Erik's ass.
The skunk whined slightly and Colin felt him tense around the hardness
that was invading him, his tail flipping back to curl around Colin's
body; Colin curled his tail around underneath him to tickle and tease
Erik's balls and sheath with the slim, furred tip while continuing to
ride his depths, the skunk's body warm around him, one paw stroking
the muscled back that heaved beneath him. Erik whimpered and groaned
as his hips pumped back to meet his lover's, the sounds muffled by the
pillows he lay on, his paws reaching back to stroke through Colin's
fur.
Speeding up his pace, Colin started to drive himself deeply into his
love's grip, their bodies meeting strongly as they both strained at
one another, until the skunk abruptly arched his back and screamed in
pleasure, his muscles contracting reflexively around Colin's prick as
he came, spurting into the bedsheets beneath him, his tail flagging.
The throbbing on his erection abruptly brought Colin over as well, and
he held himself deep inside his love, joining his cries of pleasure to
Erik's as their orgasms melded into one.
The spasms racking the lovers trailed off finally, and Colin collapsed
onto Erik's back, his slowly dwindling cock still inside Erik, his
arms around the skunk's chest, hugging him tight as they drifted
together in their afterglows. Regretfully, he slowly rolled to one
side, slipping out of his love, who turned to face him, touching his
muzzle to Colin's with a smile. Colin returned the look and pulled
Erik to him with arms and tail. "Feel better, love?" he asked softly,
gratified to see another smile as Erik nodded.
"I think I'll be okay now, Colin," Erik murmured sleepily. "Just
knowing you're here for me helps. Thank you."
Colin squeezed his lover tight and kissed the top of his head,
watching as his eyes drifted shut and his breathing became deeper as
the skunk fell into sleep, his head pillowed on Colin's chest. The
raccoon watched him silently for a few minutes before whispering
softly, "And I always will be here for you, my love. Thank you." Warm
against his love's fur, he allowed himself to join him in sleep once
again.
