#6 of Life's Many Surprises

Here it is, the (for some) long awaited next chapter. Sadly though it's probably (not certain) going to be the last chapter because I've lost sight on where I was going with this series and have decided to move onto something else. Good news is that I'm not done writing, which is good to the few people who've read this series. And I have a question for those people, for my next story would you prefer a straight story or a gay story? Let me know your opinion through comments or anyway you'd prefer.

"What do you...oh you mean it's an exo-suit or something right?" She asked not understanding what he meant.

"N-no it's not an exo-suit, I mean it's...my actual body." He corrected, his body nearly going into a twitching fit from how nervous he was feeling.

"W-what?" She asked, beginning to fully grasp what he meant.

"I'm a dragon Kate." He replied, wanting to just get this over with so he face the consequences.

Rather than yelling, screaming or even running away, all appropriate reactions he thought she would experience; however, that wasn't what she did. Before realizing what was happening, Kate had fallen out of her chair and collapsed onto the floor; out cold after fainting from the shocking news she received. Hoping she was alright, Adam quickly got out of his chair and kneeled down next to Kate to check if she was seriously hurt or not.

"Hmm, I wasn't expecting that reaction." Ryan remarked after he entered the room and walked to where Adam was kneeling.

"Why the hell did you tell me to tell her the truth! Look at her, this isn't what I wanted to happen on my date. If she's hurt in anyway, I swear I'll..." Adam began to rant angrily towards Ryan.

"Relax she's going to be alright, she's just soaking all of the information in. I mean look at that face, does that look like someone who's in pain or is even angry towards anything?" Ryan replied calmly as he noticed Kate's facial expression.

Adam then brought his attention back on Kate and saw what Ryan was talking about. Rather than having a horrified look on her face, she had a very happy smile on her face.

"But, why? I had just told her I was a dragon, she should be terrified, not happy." Adam remarked confusedly, wondering why on earth she would be happy.

"Adam, I think it's time for me to tell you what exactly Kate and I have been talking about over the past few months." Ryan replied as he nudged Adam to stand and follow him over towards the chairs.

"So what could you two have possibly talked about that would give me reason to tell Kate what I am?" Adam asked feeling a little annoyed that Ryan kept so many secrets from him.

"Well...first off, remember when I said that there's one other fur in our school?" Ryan asked calmly, not at all worried about the situation Adam was now in.

"Yeah I remember, but what...wait, are you serious?" Adam excitedly asked after figuring out what Ryan was suggesting.

"Yes, the lovely Kate is a fur just like you and I." Ryan answered with a smile, knowing that Adam would be very happy with this news.

"I can't believe this is really happening, there's so many questions I want to ask her." Adam said excitedly, more to himself than for Ryan to hear.

"Well there's a slight problem with that." Ryan said nervously, effectively breaking Adam's imagination and bringing him back to the real world.

"Why would there be a problem with asking Kate questions about being a fur?" Adam asked confusedly.

"She doesn't exactly like her fur side." Ryan answered, knowing he would definitely have to explain more.

"What, why would she not like her fur side?" Adam quickly asked, even more confused towards Ryan's answer.

"She can't exactly control her transformation, it happens anytime she's really emotional about something, so she's constantly focusing on not getting too emotional. That amount of extra stress would put a strain on anyone's nerves, I'm actually surprised she's been able to handle it this long without a breakdown yet." Ryan answered, feeling sad for Kate's predicament.

"You haven't been training her? She could love being a fur if she knew how to control it." Adam asked with a hopeful look in his eyes.

"I've offered to help her, but she's always too busy and has decided to teach herself." Ryan answered sadly.

"You have to teach her, maybe now she'll be more willing to accept the offer." Adam quickly replied as he leaned forwards until he was very close to Ryan's face because of his excitement

"Ok I'll offer to teach her, now please give me my personal space back." Ryan said as he was nearly poked in the eye from Adam's pointed muzzle.

"Nothing has changed since the last time I asked her, what makes you think she's going to say yes this time?" Ryan asked after Adam noticed how far forwards he was leaning and moved back onto his seat.

"Easy, she won't have to train alone, she'll have me there with her." Adam replied with a big smile, knowing that he could finally help Kate out.

"You really think just because you'll be there with her she'll be willing to be taught in the life of a fur?" Ryan asked with a smirk, surprised at how sure Adam was about this.

"Of course. You said it yourself, she loves me, and training with the one you love, who also happens to be going the same problems, is so much better than training alone." Adam answered, his muzzle starting to hurt from how wide he was smiling.

"Well I can't argue with that logic, let's just hope it works." Ryan replied with a light chuckle.

"By the way, when are you going to start training me, regardless of what her answer is?" Adam asked curiously.

"Well since you're so eager, and tomorrow is Sunday, we can start tomorrow then." Ryan answered as he started thinking.

"Sounds good. So what are we going to do about all of this food?" Adam asked as he turned his attention towards the plates of food still left on the table.

"Well if you're still hungry then you might as well eat it all, better than letting it go to waste." Ryan remarked casually.

"But what about Kate, shouldn't I leave some food for her at least?" Adam asked, beginning to worry about Kate getting angry with him not leaving any food for her.

"Oh don't worry about her, I have a feeling when she wakes up, the last thing on her mind will be hunger." Ryan answered calmly as he checked to make sure Kate was still sleeping on the floor after passing out.

"If you say so." Adam said as he grabbed a sandwich and started eating.

Despite there being many sandwiches, Adam quickly finished his meal in five minutes and now had nothing to do.

"How long is she going to stay like that?" Adam wondered.

"It's not like I'm an expert but I would guess maybe another five minutes or less." Ryan answered as he got up and sat in the chair in front of the tv, then starting up a game to help pass the time.

After some time had passed, Kate finally began to stir and opened her eyes soon after regaining consciousness. When she did wake up she saw that she was on the floor next to the table, remembering that she was eating her dinner until...something happened and caused her to lose consciousness.

'But what?' She asked herself.

'All I remember is Adam and I eating dinner together, us having a good conversation and then he told me something. But what was that something?' She desperately tried to remember hoping she would get it eventually.

"Hey you're awake." Ryan said as he looked back and noticed that Kate was now sitting up and looked frustrated about something.

"Huh what?" Kate asked out loud, not hearing what was said due to her heavy thinking.

"Hey sweetie, how are you feeling?" Adam asked, hoping she was ok.

"I'm fine, thank you for asking." Kate answered with a smile at the site of her boyfriend coming to her aid.

After making sure that she was alright, Adam easily lifted her up in his paws and brought her over towards Ryan's bed, where he gently laid her down. Once he saw that Adam had everything under control he went back to playing his game of skyrim and let Adam and Kate have their alone time.

"So you don't remember why you fainted?" Adam asked with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Yeah all I remember is us having dinner, you were talking about something and then I'm waking up on the floor." Kate replied.

"By the way, what were you talking to me about?" Kate then asked after giving up in trying to remember.

"Oh um...it wasn't anything important." Adam nervously answered, not wanting to explain his situation again.

"Come on, tell me, everything you say is important to me." Kate urged, wanting to know why Adam had gotten noticeably nervous.

"I was sort of talking about why I'm like...this." Adam nervously said as he motioned towards his dragon body.

"Oh yeah your costume, you were telling me how you made it right?" Kate asked, her memory finally coming back to her.

"Yeah I was talking about my costume." Adam confirmed, now no longer making eye contact with Kate.

"It's not a costume Kate!" Ryan yelled from his seat, much to Adam's displeasure, as he continued to play his game.

"What does he mean it's not a costume?" Kate asked with a very confused look on her face.

"He means that this is actually my real body." Adam very nervously explained.

"Wha..." Kate began to say.

"I'm a fur Kate, just like you and Ryan." Adam replied, quickly cutting Kate off.

"Who told you that, how do you know I'm a fur?!" Kate angrily asked as she quickly got off the bed and moved closer to Adam's muzzle.

"Well Ryan did but..." Adam answered, not expecting Kate to get so angry at what he said.

"How could you Ryan, you knew that you weren't supposed to tell anyone that!" Kate yelled as she slipped past Adam and walked towards Ryan who continued to play his game like he didn't hear anything.

"Adam isn't just anyone Kate, he's a fur just like us and he's also the guy you love, so I knew it was safe to tell him." Ryan calmly explained.

"That still doesn't give you the right to tell him!" Kate retorted back, not hearing everything Ryan said and still believing Adam was just a human and now he knew her secret.

"Kate you have to calm down, or else you'll transform." Ryan warned, surprised at how hard Kate was taking it.

"Don't tell me to calm down! You know I hate that." Kate screamed just before she began to cry into her hands.

Quickly an all too familiar bright light began to cover Kate's entire body and before anyone could warn her, the light was gone and Kate had already fully transformed. What now stood in Kate's place was instead a coffee brown colored vixen who's paws were held against her eyes as she continued to cry heavily.

"Kate!" Ryan yelled, trying to get her attention and stop her crying.

"Wow." Adam whispered to himself as he saw Kate's fur form standing there in front of him.

'She looks amazing, how could she ever hate being like this?' Adam thought to himself as he continued to stare at Kate's back admiring her beauty.

After Ryan yelled out Kate's name, she finally stopped crying long enough to see that instead of crying into her hands, she was now crying into the same brown paws that she desperately tried to get herself to forget about.

'Why couldn't today be normal for once? Instead it has to end with Adam seeing me like this, so much for us being a happy couple together.' Kate thought to herself as she continued to state at her paws, wishing she could disappear right now.

"It would be best if you go comfort her and try to get her to understand that she isn't different from us, because she looks like she's about to have a massive breakdown" Ryan whispered to Adam after seeing Kate's face and realized just how close she was to going insane.

"You're right, but what should I say?" Adam asked, wanting to make sure he didn't say the wrong thing.

"I'm sorry but this one time you will have to figure it out by yourself, just speak from your heart and hopefully she won't lose it." Ryan answered as he patted Adam on the back and left the room so there wouldn't be any distractions.

"Kate...are you ok?" Adam nervously asked as he slowly walked towards Kate, while she had not moved at all after transforming.

"There's nothing to be upset about." He then said after gently placing his large paw on her delicate shoulder, still not getting a response from her yet. Eventually, after a few minutes of silence, she finally noticed his touch.

"Please don't leave me Adam, I know I'm different but I'm still the girl you know at school under all of...this." She sobbed into his chest scales.

"Shh, don't worry, I'm never going to leave you. I love you just the way you are and nothing is ever going to change that." Adam replied lovingly as he gently rubbed his paw against her back.

"Besides, now we have even more in common." He added with a smile, then lightly kissing her forehead, feeling the softness of her fur against his lips.

"Wh-what do you mean?" She asked confusedly, only now just beginning to fully understand what Adam had been trying to tell her.

"I mean that we're one in the same, that this isn't just a costume but my fur form, just like how this beautiful vixen I'm holding is the real you." He answered with a soft hug, eliciting a quiet sigh of content from her muzzle.

"Is this really happening, this isn't some dream that I'm going to wake up from any minute now?" She asked, not believing that her dreams were finally coming true in every possible way.

"If this were a dream, then you wouldn't feel this." He answered with a smirk.

Immediately after his statement, he smoothly leaned her backwards until she was three feet above the ground, never letting his eyes leave hers. Then moving his head forwards, he firmly but gently placed his lips against hers to form an awkward, but loving kiss between dragon and vixen. For Kate it was a very surprising experience, before she even realized what was happening she began to feel his lips against hers; at first in shock but quickly loving the feel of his soft scaled lips against her velvety soft lips. But right before she could really get into the kiss and reciprocate his actions, he pulled away and ended the kiss. Once they were both standing upright, Adam started to feel very nervous again and began to doubt that he should have done that to her. Kate on the other hand had only one thought in her mind at that point, how to get him to kiss her more just so she could feel those amazing lips again. Due to Adam doubting himself, Kate's out there stare not making things better, and her fantasizing him kissing her some more, the result was that neither of the two said anything to each other for the next few minutes.

"Umm...I'm sorry for being so brash, it just felt like the right thing to do. But I should have asked you first." He said more to himself than to Kate. At the sound of Adam's voice, her fantasy was immediately broken and she was brought back to the here and now.

"No Adam, don't be ashamed for what you did. I know why you did it and I...liked it, a lot." She quickly replied with a bright blush that just barely showed through her caramel colored fur.

"You liked it?" He asked, astounded that she would actually like him kissing her.

"Y-yeah. I wouldn't mind if we did it more often." She answered nervously, hoping that Adam would kiss again very soon.

"Well, in that case..." He said with a wide smile as he moved closer to Kate, ready to give her exactly what she wanted. Unfortunately for them, just before they could kiss, Ryan quickly walked into the room and interrupted the couple.

"I see you two have worked everything out, unfortunately there's no time for you to be doing any of that. Kate has to go home." Ryan said as he walked between the couple and forced them to give some distance between each other.

"Why you blockin' bro?" Adam asked, trying to imitate a stereotypical gang member.

"Don't you get all hood on me bruh, besides the reason why Kate has to go home now is because we all need a good amount of sleep to be ready for the training tomorrow." Ryan replied as he focused his attention towards Kate.

"I never agreed to letting you train me, I said I'll teach myself and I'm sticking with that." Kate replied with a very annoyed look in her eyes.

"Don't cha want to learn how to control your powers, or at least control your transformations? Plus it would mean more time you get to spend with him." Ryan countered as he pointed towards Adam knowing that she wouldn't say no now.

"I...uhh...still..." Kate began to say as she tried to think of an appropriate argument to comeback with.

"That doesn't sound like a no to me." Ryan remarked with a smirk.

"Alright fine, I'll let you train me, but only because Adam will be there." Kate angrily answered as she turned her back to Ryan wanting to prove her dislike for this turn of events.

"Good enough. Now you need to change back before I take you home otherwise you won't even make it to training." Ryan said as he reminded Kate of her current situation.

"OH yeah, but when I change back I'll be naked, what am I going to do about that?" She asked after remembering the side effect of transforming.

"There's a change a clothes for you in the back of the closet. Just change in the bathroom and everything will be right with the world once again." Ryan answered as he walked back to sit down in his chair. With a nod in thanks, Kate walked over to Ryan's closet and once she found a bag laying in the back of the closet; she headed for the bathroom.

"Wait, why do you have a bag of clothes for her ready to go?" Adam asked confusedly, surprised at how prepared Ryan was for a situation such as this.

"I'll tell you later, in the meantime, why don't you call your parents and let them know that you're sleeping over tonight?" Ryan replied, hoping that his offer would change the subject and Adam would forget about the question.

"Oh yeah I forgot to ask them." Adam said to himself as he quickly left the room and looked for the nearest phone. While Adam was on the phone talking to his parents, so far no yelling yet; Kate returned as a fully clothed human with a now empty bag in her hand.

"Where's Adam?" She asked, hoping he hadn't left already.

"He's on the phone asking his parents if he could stay over. That was a fast change, is it getting easier?" Ryan asked, commenting on how quickly she was able to change back into her current form while we placed the bag in his closet again.

"Yeah, it seems to be easier for me to change when I'm happy. But wait, Adam's sleeping over?" She asked surprisingly, not expecting Adam to be staying over at Ryan's

"Yeah, it'll be quicker that way because he lives farther away from us, so rather than waiting for him to show up he'll just stay here and we can start the training when you come over." Ryan answered as he looked around his room for his car keys so he could bring Kate home.

"Good point...just don't try anything with him, he's my man you know." She jokingly said.

"Come on Kate, you know me." Ryan nervously replied, thinking Kate was being serious since she rarely joked around.

"I do know you, hence the warning." She retorted trying to sound as serious as possible despite also wanting to laugh.

"I..uhh..." Ryan stuttered, desperately trying to think of something to say.

'How could she know?! There's just no way, I've made sure to keep it hidden all this time!' He thought to himself as he started thinking of an excuse.

"I'm only kidding, I know you're not into guys. But the look on your face was priceless." She said, no longer able to hold back her fits of laughter at seeing Ryan's terrified face.

'Although that did look like genuine fright, but that doesn't make any sense, he wouldn't be so terrified of my accusation unless it were true...but that's not possible, not with Adam at least.' Kate thought to herself once she finally finished laughing.

"Heh, yeah, you got me that time." He nervously said hoping to quickly change the subject.

"Hey Ryan, my parents said yes!" Adam yelled out in a different room so Ryan could hear it.

"That's great." Ryan yelled back an then focused back towards Kate.

"So let's take you home and remember to get a good night's sleep, because training is going to be tough tomorrow." He said to her and then found out that his keys were in his pocket all this time. As Ryan and Kate left the room they nearly crashed into Adam while coming around the corner in the hallway.

"Hey Adam, try to not get hurt while staying over here, Ryan can get pretty wild." Kate joked as the group of three walked towards the front door.

"I'm a civilized person, I am the complete opposite of wild. If anything I'll have to hold Adam back from doing anything dangerous." Ryan said defending himself as he opened the door and left the house to start the car while simultaneously giving the couple time to say goodnight.

"So I had a great night." Adam began to say, trying to get over the feeling of nervousness creeping upon him.

"Me too, you really know how to keep things exciting." Kate said with a smile as she began to stare into Adam's aqua blue eyes.

"Heh...thanks. But you'e certain you're ok with all of, this?" Adam asked as he gestured towards himself, referencing towards how drastically different it would be to date him.

"Adam, you don't know how happy this makes me feel. Through out the entire date I've been wishing that this really was your body, that those really were your scales I was feeling against my skin; and now that wish has come true." She said as she held back her tears of joy.

"I love you Kate." Adam said as he stared lovingly into her eyes.

"I love you too Adam." She replied as she reciprocated the loving stare.

After finally declaring their love, the couple moved closer to each other and wrapped their arms around the other to bring themselves into a warm hug. No longer feeling nervous, Adam soon lifted his head off of Kate's shoulder and lovingly kissed her; soon they were both deep into the kiss. Meanwhile, Ryan continued to sit in his car as he watched Adam and Kate hug each other and then begin to kiss right there on his doorstep.

"They're so beautiful together." Ryan said out loud to himself as he gazed at the couple from the car.

'Remember that could be you over there with him.' The voice in his head reminded.

"I told you, I am not going to break them up, they're made for each other. Besides I'm certain Adam doesn't go that way." Ryan countered, severely annoyed that the voice was back.

'Are you sure about that?' The voice asked.

"I'm, pretty sure." Ryan answered, trying to remember if Adam showed any signs of being interested in males.

'You'll never know unless you ask.' The voice remarked.

"It doesn't matter anyway. I'm not breaking them up." Ryan replied angrily.

'Oh come on, it's what's best for you.' The voice goaded.

"It's not what's best for Adam, now be quiet." Ryan nearly yelled out.

'Pleassseee?' The voice asked.

"Shut up!" Ryan yelled out loud, just as Adam and Kate finished walking to the car.

"Is everything alright?" Adam asked, surprised at Ryan's outburst.

"Yeah everything's ok. Are you ready?" Ryan answered with a sigh as he tried to compose himself and calm down.

"Yeah I'm ready." Kate answered as she opened the door to the backseat.

"Have a good night Kate." Adam said, wishing she didn't have to go home.

"You too Adam, I'll see you tomorrow." Kate replied after she closed the door and brought her attention back towards Adam.

"Try to not break anything while I'm gone, my house isn't exactly made to handle a dragon walking around in it." Ryan remarked, then turning on the engine and putting the car into gear.

"Don't worry, I think I know what I can and can't sit on when I'm like this." Adam replied confidently.

"Mhm sure, you just try to be careful, I won't be long." Ryan warned as he took his foot off the break and let the car begin to move forwards.

"Bye Adam, I'll be thinking of you!" Kate yelled out as she waved back towards Adam.

"Bye Kate, I'll be thinking of you too!" Adam yelled back.

Eventually the car was no longer in sight in the inky blackness of the night, so Adam walked back into the house and went off to pass the time away until Ryan came back home. Thirty minutes later Ryan came back and parked the car in the garage and made sure it was locked. Then he entered the house through a side door and continued walking to his room in a daze from how tired he was feeling. Once he reached his door he opened it without thinking and walked to his bed not even noticing the dragon that was sitting on the ground playing Skyrim.

'Glorious bed.' Ryan thought to himself as he quickly dropped down on top of his bed and tried to relax.

'Ugh, it's not so glorious anymore. Why can't I find a comfortable position?' He asked himself as he kept rolling over and turning around in his bed trying to get into a good enough position to fall asleep in.

"I can't take this anymore, what's wrong with this bed?!" He asked out loud as he got back out of bed and looked at what was wrong and quickly saw the problem.

Rather than seeing a normal bed that looked like someone had just rolled around in it, he saw a collapsed bed that was no longer able to support any amount of weight due to having a cracked frame. In a very tired and dazed state, he tried to figure out how his bed ended up with a cracked frame; unfortunately he wasn't able to think of anything plausible. That is until he heard a dragon shout come from the game that was being played, immediately bringing him out of his daze and reminding him of his current house guest. Quickly he turned around and saw the dragon guest sitting on the floor next to the destroyed chair, playing Skyrim not noticing the intense glare Ryan was giving him from across the room.

'Rather than getting mad at him, you could hold this over his head to get him to do things for you, such as getting him to go on one date with you.' The voice pointed out.

"Don't you ever stop?" Ryan asked, trying to be as quiet as possible.

'Do you ever stop thinking about being with him?' The voice countered.

"I'm never going to do that to him." Ryan replied after giving an exhausted sigh that was a little too loud.

"What did you say?" Adam asked once he heard Ryan's sigh and turned around to face him.

"Nothing...um, what happened to my bed?" Ryan asked quickly without trying to force the voice away again.

"Oh, that...I was feeling tired so I tried laying in your bed and I guess I'm too heavy for that too. Please don't be too mad." Adam answered nervously, hoping Ryan wouldn't be too angry for the broken bed.

"I told you not to...." Ryan began to say, ready to reprimand Adam for the destruction.

'This is your chance, forgive him and he'll be in debt to you.' The voice quickly interrupted his thinking to say.

"I really am sorry." Adam said, hoping the silence wasn't a prelude to very loud yelling.

"I know you are but..." Ryan tried to say until he was interrupted once again.

'For once, listen to me and do what I say.' The voice yelled, completely shattering Ryan's thought process.

"...it's ok Adam, I understand it was a mistake, I'll think of something to do about it, although you do owe me one now." Ryan finished saying as he looked towards Adam to show he wasn't joking.

"Understandable." Adam answered, somewhat glad that Ryan wasn't going to yell.

'Finally you listen to me, now you may reap the rewards.' The voice remarked with a tinge of satisfaction, finally gaining some control over Ryan's actions.

"It's just this one time. You will never control me." Ryan growled to himself as he walked over to the chair next to Adam and sat down.

"So how far are you?" Ryan then asked as Adam unpaused the game and continued playing.

"I'm about to fight Alduin at level 64. Are there other dragons like me in the fur community you a part of?" Adam asked as he started imagining what it would be like to meet some of the people in the community.

"Well they're like you in the way that they have the same powers as you and look somewhat the same as you. But your personalities basically contrast each other." Ryan answered as he thought back to the few dragons he had meet.

"How are they different?"

"Generally dragons aren't exactly the nicest furs around, usually they're stubborn and care about themselves. So comparing that to your kind, caring personality, you're pretty different from most dragons. Although you are quite stubborn."

"I am not."

"You didn't want to listen to my advice during the competition and look what you put that poor judge through."

"I was able to fix it."

"Yeah with my help. By the way, you're about to get shouted off that cliff."

"Fus...Ro Dah!" Shouted a zombie in the game.

"Oh come on." Adam remarked as he watched his character fly off the cliff and straight into a huge pile of rocks, instantly killing him.

"It's for the best, we should go to sleep now before it gets too late and you won't want to do anything tomorrow." Ryan replied as he stood back up and walked back towards his bed.

"Yeah you're probably right. But where am I going to sleep and am I going to sleep like this or you can show me how to change back tonight?" Adam asked as he turned off the game and walked over towards where Ryan was standing, wishing his bed wasn't broken.

"I would show you how to change, but you don't have a change of clothes and I don't think you're so comfortable sleeping naked on the floor." Ryan answered as he looked away from his bed to focus on Adam.

"I'm sleeping on the floor?" Adam asked, surprised that as a guest he would have to do such a thing.

"Well you can't sleep in my bed! Besides I might have to as well so it's not like you'll be the only one." Ryan answered, at first letting out some bottled up anger but regaining control.

"Ok I understand." Adam replied dejectedly.

"Plus the floor is carpeted so it's not like you're sleeping on a cold hard floor." Ryan pointed out trying to make Adam's situation somewhat better.

"Yeah, doesn't beat sleeping on a bed though." Adam remarked as he knelt onto the floor, quickly feeling uncomfortable since he was lying on his tail.

"OF course it doesn't, but it's the best I can do for you. Here's a pillow, hopefully this'll help a little and you might want to try sleeping on your side when you're in that form." Ryan suggested as he offered the pillow from his bed to Adam.

"Thanks, but what about you, don't you need a pillow too?" Adam asked after he took the pillow and rolled onto his left side to face Ryan who was walking over towards the light switch and turned off the light.

"That's the beauty of having an afro, I always have a pillow." Ryan answered with a smirk as returned next to Adam and laid on his back on the floor and looked up at the ceiling of the room.

"By the way, you never did say if you were ok with sleeping naked here or not." Ryan pointed out, not really thinking of anything and just letting his feelings talk for him.

"Why would you bring that up?" Adam asked, feeling confused why Ryan would mention that.

"No reason, just sayin'." Ryan answered nonchalantly.

"Come on there had to be reason, no one would ever bring up that subject in a regular conversation." Adam countered, making sure Ryan wouldn't slip out of answering a question this time.

"Well...you know me, I like to ask random questions." Ryan replied, desperately trying to get out of this situation.

'Why did I have to ask that, there's no way I can get out of this.' Ryan berated himself in his mind.

'You're right there's no way out, but this is perfect, now you can tell him how you feel.' The voice said happily.

"Adam, I promise I'll tell you why I asked that question later but...it is getting pretty late and you need all the energy you can get for tomorrow." Ryan said, hoping Adam would see his reasoning and drop the subject.

"While I trust that you would tell me why eventually, I would more prefer you tell me now." Adam countered with a smile after seeing how flustered Ryan was getting which was very uncommon.

"I can't tell you Adam, it's just too personal." Ryan pleaded.

"We've been friends for a long time, what could possibly be too personal that you can't tell me?" Adam asked, not fully believing that there could still be any secrets between them.

"Few things I keep from you but it's only for your own good, me being a fur was one, and this other secret is another. When the time is right I'll tell you." Ryan answered, beginning to get annoyed with the constant argument he was having in his head.

'TELL HIM! Why don't you ever listen to me?! Tell him already!' The voice yelled.

'No! For the tenth time I'm not going to tell him yet. IF I ever decide on telling him then it will be when I feel like it.' Ryan growled back within his head.

'If you wait any longer then you'll lose him to that girl and you'll continue to be alone, with only me to talk to.' The voice remarked.

'If that's what it takes for Adam to have a happy life then I'm willing to live with that, and someday I'll be able to control you.' Ryan replied.

'As long as you have feelings for him you'll never be able to control me. Someday I'll be able to control you completely and not just your thoughts.' The voice confidently countered with.

'Someday, but not today!' Ryan yelled back as he regained full control of his thoughts and focused on what Adam was saying to him.

"Hey Ryan are you ok?!" Adam yelled as he continued to watch Ryan who had just been staring into space with a very angry look on his face.

"Huh...oh, uh yeah I'm fine, sort of spaced out, I told you I was tired." Ryan answered, hoping Adam would now stop pressuring him to answer.

"Hmm, well alright we can go to sleep now. But you will answer the question eventually, and when I decide to bring it up, not when you feel like it." Adam said as he laid back down and turned onto his side so he wouldn't lay on his tail this time.

"Thank you, sleep well." Ryan replied with a silent sigh as he laid down on his back and stared up at the ceiling, soon falling asleep.
