#2 of Something to Keep Safe

<< PREVIOUS | FIRST | NEXT >>

Well, since people here seemed to like the first chapter, I'll stop being lazy and upload that second chapter ^^ But it comes that fast only because it's already written, you'll have to wait a bit more for the next chapter...

The story starts to become interesting. We discussed a lot about it with Collapsix, we plotted a lot of things, including the dirty and cute parts. Strangely I feel like our poor AuRon is not done blushing for our great pleasure XD Yeah, he's so cute blushing like that. That's one of the things I like at most in fact.

As for this chapter, we learn a bit about AuRon and Hazel, finally learn the name of that dark dragon that has been holding her because we were too lazy to find a name before I post the first chapter, and some other cute scenes. But well, the way we plotted it things will get even funnier tomorrow morning for those two !

Oh and zut, I'm too lazy to do the Previous | Next thingie right now. I'll do it for the third chapter.

A day like no other

"And there we are : my cave !" AuRon announced, smiling while looking back. Hazel was walking behind him, seeming a bit exhausted. "Ah, finally. For a young male your territory isn't that small..." she slightly smiled. "Well, it is if you decide to fly, from here I can reach any of my borders in one hour." the grey dragon explained. "One hour, it's what it took us to come here..." the dragoness grumbled. "Yeah, it's much faster by flying, not to mention we could have avoided that big slope. But since your wings still were tired from your flight..." "My wings aren't the only ones to be tired now." Hazel complained. The dragon gave her a smile. "Then let's make those last steps, and you'll get the rest you need." Hazel nodded and the two dragons headed toward AuRon's cave. Despite her tiredness, Hazel looked around her, not wanting to miss any details. The first thing that struck her was the view on the forest behind her. She hadn't noticed they were that high. She stopped a second, admiring the panorama. AuRon noticed that and widely smiled. "That's quite a view, eh ?" he asked her. Hazel nodded. "Sure it is... You really can see everything from here !" "Nearly all my territory, yeah. It's just amazing to stand here and feel like being the master of this small world." he chuckled. The red dragoness laughed as well. "I can understand that feeling !" She headed toward the cave, peering inside it. As it was facing south, it was nicely enlightened, and she got surprised to feel a small air current while entering. "It smells really fresh for a cave." Hazel commented. AuRon cocked his head, surprised by that comment. "What do you mean ?" "Well, usually caves have a rather heavy male scent, no ? Since there's no real way to aerate a cave the smell tends to rest. But it's not that much the case in yours... You're sleeping somewhere else ?" The grey dragon smiled. "Ah, that ! No, I sleep here but there's a hole at the other end of the cave, and as the wind flows through it the cave stays aerated - and in winter I can easily block it to keep the warmth in." "Oh, I see. That's really enjoyable anyway. Male scent can be really heavy sometimes..." "Especially if he's near a dragoness in heat..." the grey dragon smirked. Hazel blinked at that statement, looking at him. "My heat really is a that... strong smelling ?" AuRon nodded. "Yes. And... Well I can't say it doesn't make some effect on me." he difficultly said. "You're not meaning you want to..." the dragoness fearfully replied. She got slightly reassured as the grey dragon suddenly became of a bright red. "No ! I wouldn't dare... I mean, well sure it's making me want to... mate you... but I'll never do it without your consent !" he awkwardly stuttered. Hazel sighed, reassured. "I'm sorry, for a second I had that horrible doubt you'd maybe... well, try to abuse of me." AuRon smirked, still of a bright red. "That's what I understood. But I'll never do a such thing. Never." Hazel lowered her head, a tear forming at the corner of her eyes. "Thanks, AuRon. Thanks." AuRon felt sorry for her and nuzzled her cheek like he did at the lake. Both dragons felt exactly the same shrive in their spine. "Eh, don't cry, Hazel. You're so beautiful when you smile." he smiled at her. Hazel snorted. "It's just that... I... I don't know what to believe anymore. I just don't have anything more, not even a home." "Consider yourself at home here, Hazel." AuRon gently told her. The dragoness nodded with a small smile. "I'll try. For now, I'm so tired..." she said, beginning to lie down. "Just one moment." AuRon stopped her. "There's more comfortable than the entrance of the cave. Let me show you." The red dragoness raised an eyebrow and finally shrugged, standing up. "I'm a bit too tired to really care, but well. Show me then." AuRon smiled and headed a bit further into his cave. Hazel followed him, turning as well as the pinkish dragon - he still didn't managed to turn grey - took a side-gallery. Her jaw dropped when she saw the room in which AuRon brought her. This was the first time she was seeing something like this : the whole ground was covered by a soft grass ! Grass in a cave ! Curious, she stepped on it to find it was a really soft grass. A small hole on the ceiling was enlightening the room with a dulled light, just enough to let her see AuRon grinning. "That's... Incredible ! I never saw anything like that... And it looks pretty comfortable as well." she exclaimed. AuRon nodded, still grinning. "I knew you'd love that. It's far more comfortable than a rough ground, eh ?" Hazel nodded, lying on the comfy grass. She let a small moan of pleasure as she curled and loosened her muscles, and widely yawned. "Do you want me to catch something while you sleep ?" AuRon asked, smiling as the dragoness seemed to enjoy his cave. "I don't want to abuse..." Hazel replied, lying her head on her paws. "I take it as a yes then. I'll be back soon, enjoy your sleep !" "Thanks..." the dragoness barely said before drifting into sleep, exhausted.

AuRon didn't immediately leave the cave. Instead, he couldn't help to observe the dragoness sleeping, a smile on his face. She looked so cute and harmless like that... And that part of the cave was not only big enough but also aerated enough for him not to be that much bothered by the smelling of her heat. Maybe it wasn't smelling that strongly when she was sleeping ? AuRon didn't know but didn't cared either. But the deer wasn't going to hunt itself. AuRon headed out of the cave and, unfurling his wings, took off toward the forest.

The grey dragon arrived near the lake about a quarter of hour later, and grinned as he spotted a deer drinking near his landing spot, unaware of his presence. He definitively had luck today... The dragon quickly landed at some distance of his prey and instantly, his scales' color changed to match the vegetation around him. He then proceeded to prowl toward his prey. After a last bush he saw the deer again, still drinking. That was perfect. He had a good view on it and the wind was on the good side. He just needed a few steps more to pounce on it, just a few... The deer didn't saw its end coming. AuRon suddenly pounced on it and managed to get his jaw around the deer's neck. The animal tried to struggle, but it was already too late. The dragon felt the blood running through his throat, until it stopped flowing and the deer stopped moving. AuRon released it from his maw, licking his lips as he tried to clean them from the blood. He felt a shrive in his spine while doing so. Hunting was always thrilling. The dragon managed to put the deer's corpse on his back and took off with it. It was slightly tiring but he already did it once or twice, it just made the trip back to his cave longer.

The grey dragon landed, readjusting the deer on his back as it nearly fell. That was quite a good catch in a short time, they both would have enough to eat. In fact hunting made AuRon hungry. He entered his cave and headed toward his sleeping room. As he arrived there, he saw Hazel squirming and moaning in her sleep, her breathing a bit erratic and heavily frowning. The grey dragon frowned, understanding the dragoness was having a nightmare. And a pretty bad one, judging by how hard she was frowning... He decided to wake her up, to make the nightmare stop. AuRon dropped his prey on the ground and leaned his head, gently nuzzling Hazel.

Hazel indeed was having a bad nightmare. She suddenly felt something nudging her head and opened her eyes. Still not really emerged from her dream, she saw a rather dark silhouette right near her, making her heart missed a beat. The dragoness instantly jumped on her feet and stepped back, totally panicked. "No ! Terreth, please, no !" she screamed, her eyes rolling from panick. The silhouette stepped back, surprised by her violent reaction. "Hazel, that's me, AuRon ! Calm down, you were having a nightmare..." he told her. It took some seconds for the dragoness to realize that with the rather low light, she had mistaken AuRon with the black dragon. Hazel lowered her head, her members shaking and some tears rolling from her eyes. "I'm sorry, Hazel. I just wanted to wake you up from that nightmare..." AuRon apologized. "No, it's fine." she snorted. "I'm glad you did, it's just that I wasn't completely awoken..." She couldn't help to sob a bit, and the grey dragon came closer from her. "That was just a nightmare. You're not with Terreth." he tried to recomfort her. "If only it was just a nightmare." she muttered. AuRon got intrigued by the statement, but didn't asked further. It was clear that Hazel didn't want to think about it anymore. Instead he chose to change the topic. "I caught a prey for you. I guess you're still hungry ?" Hazel raised her head, momentarily forgetting that bad dream. Though her stomach answered before her by suddenly and loudly gurgling, which made AuRon chuckle. "I guess there wasn't any point in asking..." the grey dragon smiled. Turning back, he took the deer's neck in his maw and dragged the dead beast near Hazel. The dragoness couldn't help to lick her lips at the perspective of a good meal, but didn't begin to eat. "Take your part first, I guess you must be hungry as well ?" she said. The dragon raised an eyebrow. "A bit, but go ahead and take yours first. I'll take the rest, don't worry for me. I've a tendency to eat a bit too much..." he smiled. Hazel had a brief chuckle before deciding to start eating. She bit the animal's belly, and eagerly started to eat the wombs. The dragoness was so hungry she was hardly taking her breath between two mouthfuls, and just wasn't caring at all about the fact her muzzle was full of blood. She engulfed mouthful after mouthful for about five minutes before stepping back, full. She even let out a small burp. "Sorry. But it has been ages since I've eaten that much..." she widely smiled. "What do you mean ? Terreth wasn't leaving you hungry, did he ?" AuRon asked. "No, no. He just was making sure I wasn't eating too much... Oh, I really did that time. My belly is so heavy..." Hazel moaned. AuRon chuckled before taking a bite at the deer. "I kinda understand you. The sun isn't set yet, do you want to enjoy the last rays ?" Hazel cocked her head. "That's a nice idea... But you have a particular place in mind ? Because I just don't feel like moving an inch right now..." AuRon chuckled between two mouthful. "Don't worry, I was meaning right outside the cave. Like I'm feeling like moving farther when I'm full... Just let me a minute to finish eating." The dragoness nodded, yawning widely. Her tiredness combined with her overfilled belly made her want to sleep.

AuRon soon finished his meal and headed out, looking back to make sure the dragoness was following. Hazel did so and the two dragons arrived at the mouth of the cave, where the sun was about to set. Hazel's eyes widened as she saw the landscape in front of her. It was the first time she was seeing a sunset from above the trees, Terreth's cave being at ground level. The sun was looking red, giving the sky a wonderful orange color. With this light, the clouds were taking a sanguine tone as well. The forest under them, enlightened by the red sun, also was taking a tone that made everything look like in a dream. Hazel stood some minutes admiring this sunset before noticing AuRon was looking at her, having lied down on the ground, like he didn't wanted to interrupt her from watching the landscape. "That's just wonderful." Hazel commented. "The sun, the clouds, the sky... They're all taking such beautiful colors !" AuRon smiled. "The sun is exactly the same color than your scales, Hazel." The dragoness got so surprised by the comment that she stood her mouth half opened. The compliment was so spontaneous and sincere she was feeling like her heart just melted. She started to purr loudly, getting a wide smile. "Oh... That's so nice ! Thanks a lot, AuRon !" The dragon's smile got wider. "You know, the landscape won't change if you lie down." Hazel chuckled, still purring. "Yeah, you're right." She lied down on the grass and put her head on her paws, yawning again. The dragoness couldn't help to close her eyes and, without realizing it, she instantly fell half-asleep. Each time she was opening her eyes, the sun was lower in the sky, but still warming her scales, which didn't help staying awoken. She noticed that AuRon didn't move, sometimes watching the sunset, sometimes her. Hazel had the silly idea he looked like a guardian, protecting her from her nightmares. It was maybe silly, but the periods she was asleep were dreamless. The dragoness lost track on the time, but when she finally raised her head again, it already was night. She yawned as she stood up. "You really were tired to fall asleep like that." the grey dragon commented as he saw her standing up. Hazel tiredly nodded. "I didn't thought I was that tired as well." AuRon smiled. "I understand. You had a long day, after all. I guess you won't object if we head back in my cave for you to sleep ?" The red dragoness simply nodded, her answer cut by another wide yawn that made AuRon smile wider. "Let's get in, then." the grey dragon smile, standing up as well. He entered in his cave, followed by Hazel. Once they got back in the grassy room, the red dragoness headed at the place she had sleep some hours ago, her body form still being printed in the grass, and lied down, yawning again. That time she didn't curl, just putting her head on her paws. AuRon was about to do the same, but he just wondered where he should lie down. Should he stay close from her or farther ? He didn't want her to feel like he was avoiding her, but on the other side he didn't want to be too close from her. AuRon finally opted to lie down at a wing from her. "Good night, Hazel." he said, yawning a bit. As he stretched a bit his wing touched Hazel's one, making both of them feel a strange feeling. Hazel was about to break the contact but didn't. She didn't know why, but that small contact was kinda reassuring her. The red dragoness smiled and fell asleep. AuRon didn't really know what to think about Hazel's reaction to this contact. Puzzled, he decided not to move his wing and put his head on his paws as well. The grey dragon briefly wondered if there wasn't something he was completely missing in the situation, before falling asleep as well.
