The Dare
In which two micros find their way into an abandoned home, only to find that it's not so abandoned!
This was a gift for my boyfriend, who just -loves- to crush little things under his feet. Another friend of mine is also included, and that's Bagel! With a name like that, you'd expect him to be eaten. Not this time~ :3
The Dare
"Aw, don't tell me you're afraid! We didn't come all the way out here, for you to chicken out!" Snickered Henry, a typical red fox. He crossed his arms as if he was upset, yet was grinning cheerfully. "Besides, don't you want to be famous? Everyone loves a daredevil, and climbing up onto a giant's shoe is just about as risky as it gets." At this point he motioned for his follower, a wolf, to move closer. The cream colored wolf was known as Bagel (Yes, like the food!), and he frowned as he nervously spoke up. "A-all I have to do is climb up and you'll take the picture, right? That's it?" Henry nodded and smiled reassuringly, taking a step backwards and then turning on his heels, beginning to walk off at a rather fast pace. Bagel took a shaky breath and followed right after the fox, jogging to keep up with his classmate's brisk walking. The two walked in ominous silence for what seemed like an hour, though it was really more like ten minutes. Bagel gazed distractedly at his surroundings, noting how the furniture was at least one hundred times bigger than "normal" . This would've certainly surprisedanybody else, but both the wolf and the fox were accustomed to the sight, since they often snuck into the unknown giant's home in search of food, entertainment, or out of mere boredom. The inhabitant of the home never seemed to be there, thankfully, so it was no wonder that the two micros had eventually gotten careless. They would listen for just a minute, and then sneak right on in and play their little games! Unfortunately for the two, this time would be much different, because the owner of the house was asleep and not outside. "We're here!" exclaimed Henry, his fluffy red and white tail flicking around excitedly. The two had made their way from just outside the doorstep of the immense home, to the closet of the bedroom. It was dark, dank, and the air smelled heavily of worn old shoes. Each lungful of air made the pair cringe, as the sour and heady musk flowed in through their noses, and down into them. "G-gah! I'm seriously starting to regret this. The smell alone could kill!" Bagel groaned out, instinctively covering his muzzle with both paws. Henry was more reserved this time, and simply wrinkled his nose out of mild disgust. "I know, I know. You get used to it after awhile, trust me. Let's just get this over with already, I feel kinda edgy.. Like, y'know when you can just feel that something bad is going to happen?" Bagel took another hesitant breath, and lowered one paw down into the pocket of his pants, fumbling around in them, and pulling out a small metal flashlight. As soon as it was clicked on, the beam cut through the swath of darkness,
faintly illuminating the closet. The creamy furred wolf could just make out the shape of empty hangers, at least a mile above his head. The sheer stature of the closet made him shiver out of fear. After pausing to take in the foreboding scene, Bagel sighed, and looked back at Henry. "Hold the flashlight, and get the camera ready. As soon as I climb to the top of the shoe, just take a picture, and I'll climb back down." He mumbled, handing the flashlight to the frowning fox, and then rolling his shoulders and stretching thoroughly. After his brief exercise was done, Bagel creeped forward into the darkness. Bagel had taken about five steps, when he suddenly bumped into something hard, and rubbery. The wolf rubbed his nose instinctively, and then craned his neck back to gaze at the object. As soon as Henry flashed the light over onto it, the lower half of the gigantic black shoe was visible. It was a converse, by the looks of it, and the creases along the back made it give off an appearance of being well worn. Bagel knew better than to think it through too much, so the tiny lupine simply gripped the hard material, and began to climb along the back of the shoe. Climbing the converse shoe wasn't difficult, it was more of a repetitive motion that seemed to tire out Bagel's muscles, particularly his thigh and forearm muscles. If not for the thought of impressing his crush, and being somewhat popular, he would have given up long ago. The wolf was suddenly snapped out of his thoughts, when he reached up and there was a soft, slightly bending, edge! He scurried up, now inside of the shoe, clinging to the edge and looking down at Henry. He was finally done! Bagel grinned triumphantly and called out to Henry. "Henry! I've made it! Quick, take the picture already!" he yipped out. Henry, however, didn't seem to hear him. The fox was frowning and moving the beam of light around, still searching for his friend. "Oh, great... Just great... He's so dead." Bagel muttered out. Unfortunately for Henry... Bagel was right. There was a series of earthshaking thumps, which sounded as if they kept getting closer with each thump. The tiny wolf could only watch in horror, as Henry whirled about and shined the beam in the opposite direction. Instead of the all consuming darkness, there was a pillar of coffee colored fur, about a quarter of a mile wide. There wasn't much time to take in the shocking scene, because neither micro was prepared for what would happen next. The pillars of fur hadn't slowed or stopped, and consequently, one of the enormous feet crashed right down, right onto the fox. The light was instantly cut off, and there was no shriek, no scream. There was only a muffled squelch, to mark the end of Henry's short life. "Oh god... Oh, god no... HENRY!" Bagel cried out,
staring into the darkness at the spot where his friend was, moments ago. Now there was just darkness, with the barely discernible shape of a feline foot, taking Henry's place. Bagel choked out a soft whimper, feeling his grip begin to slacken somewhat, the numbness beginning to take over. "N-no... That can't be right.... H-henry..." the wolf sniffled, slackening his grip on the tough material of the shoe. Everything felt numb, so when the immense feline picked the shoe up, Bagel hardly felt anything, until he was jarred from his position, and he fell all the waydown into the damp and cold inside of the shoe, staring up blankly into the darkness, as tears ran down his face. "Mmh... I can't believe I overslept again..." Jack mumbled, sleepily. He had walked right into the closet without bothering to turn on the light, and that was when he felt something wet and crunchy splat across the bottom of his ash black sole pad. The cat was far too sleepy to actually pay it any mind, not even bothering with wondering what it could have been. The soft brown catshrugged, then stooped down and picked up his pair of black converse, bringing them to the living room, sitting, and roughly tugging each one onto his warm feet. Little did he know that an action so simple, brought such turmoil to the tiny wolf stuck inside of his shoe, and now being pressed under a soft, warm, and fleshy solepad. Bagel was in absolute desperation. Beneath him, a damp and cold rug, and above him, a warm and soft cushion. There were two complete opposites on either side of him, yet the only thing they seemed to have in common was that they were making him very uncomfortable, and making his fur take on the scent of sweaty foot. Bagel didn't have to worry about his precious fur for long, since a new issue quickly arose. When Jack finallytied his laces and stood, all of his weight was transferred to the creamy furred wolf, making him sink down into the carpet of the shoe, so that some old sweat squished out of the damp cushion. Each step Jack took placed all of his weight on Bagel again, only to be lifted off promptly after. This cycle continued for what seemed like ages, to the micro, though it was really only a couple of minutes. "O-ooof! O-ohh... O-ooof! O-ohhh..." Bagel groaned out, air forced out of him, as the foot descended again and smushedhim against the rug of the shoe, which was already heating up. The strong scent of sweat was growing steadily, and Bagel could feel sweat all along the black pad, as it oozed out of the cat's pores. The creamy wolf's fur was saturated with bitter sweat, as he was used as an absorbent insole. Surely he hardly looked like a wolf anymore, and more like a soaked and frightened little pup. "I-I can't believe this is how I die.. T-there was so much I was
going to do.... N-no, it can't end this way..." Bagel coughed out, only now beginning to notice that significant lack of air, and the burning in his lungs. Jack's shoes were air-tight, so no fresh air reached the whimpering wolf, and to make matters worse, the constant stepping had shifted him around so that his muzzle ended up under a pair of sweat coated toes, and right into the steaming hot space between them. Each breath sent hot air into him, and when Jack stepped down, that same air was forced right back out! It wasn't long before Bagel was breathing in the same air he had exhaled. The air, if it could be called that at this point, had no trace of oxygen. The little "toy" shut his eyes tight, his lungs burning, screaming for air. Unfortunately, there would be no salvation for him. He gasped, bucked, and then slowly fell silent. His eyes slowly closed and he let out one last exhale, before finally falling still. "Oh man... Almost there.... Can't be late..." Jack huffed out, running at a steady pace. He didn't even feel the death of the micro in his shoe. He had ended an entire life under his foot, the lowest part of his body. What a humiliating death for poor Bagel, who was suffocated by the giant cat's musk.
