With the gorgeous V8 bellowing from the rented Jaguar, Maiden and Kauto were headed up past Birmingham and only an hour or two away from the Saber wolf's hometown. The traffic was busy, and as the toll road around Birmingham approached, many cars were eager to get onto it. This was due to the road only being used by cars with no big vehicles aloud. 'Maiden, may I ask. Why is Britain filled with cones on the freeways with nobody working?'

'Hehe, you may want to get used to it while we are here. Plus these roads are called motorways over here. If you see a road like this with blue signs, that means we are on a motorway. If you see green signs that means they are just main roads, bypasses and stuff.' Kauto raised an eyebrow and smiled as he began to realize how different his home country, Australia and even America was to little old Britain. But it was something he was really enjoying. It was like a new start in a totally different environment for him, and in essence it was, for the following week anyway. As for Maiden, he was marveling in the memories from his younger teen days. The memories flooding his mind every second, a big grin crossed his face as they approached the border to Wales. Those giant Saber teeth glistening off the sun and making a couple of passengers in the other cars gasping at the sight.

A quarter of an hour later, the Welsh border appeared and immediately Maiden was in a world of his own. All of his old memories, flooding that meaty brain between his perky ears. 'My my my, isn't Wales just a beautiful country.'

'We haven't even entered it properly hehe. I do like how the road into the North of Wales turns from concrete to tarmac, and vise versa. It makes Wales look a bit more sophisticated if that makes sense. So err....where was it you wanted to go first?'

'I was going to visit my birth town, but it's a bit of a boring town with not much in it. After I was revealed to the world, my parents moved within a month so I'll revisit those memories and go to Llandudno if that is okay with you?'

Maiden gave a little squeeze to the tip of his stallion's right ear with those claw tips of his. Kauto shook a bit and out of character, nipped at Maiden's nose and made the wolf howl in pain. Maiden held his nose with both paws as he was shocked at this point and wasn't sure what to do. But without thinking, Maiden demanded the Jaguar to be stopped. Kauto did so in a quiet side road and watched as the beefy canine growled while slamming the door behind him. 'Maiden? Maiden I'm sorry, you're claws are sharp.'

'Yes, but you didn't have to bite me. I barely touched you, why did you do that?' As Maiden said this in a rather angry manner, Kauto was expecting that big wild wolf to jump at him or do something to get him back. A moment passed before anything else happened, but while he hid behind the car, Maiden simply sat his huge frame back in the Jag with a loud sounding sigh. Within an instant, the stallion sat back in the car and hesitantly placed an arm over his wolf. Maiden was looking very upset all of a sudden with his paws covering his face.

'H...how's your nose?'

'Fine.' A deep growling moan returned after Kauto's question. One that he certainly didn't like.

'Maiden, please tell me what's wrong? You've suddenly become very upset and concerned about something, it's not....me...is it?' Maiden looked up and shook his head in the negative.

'No, it's not you. Although, you did make it happen.'

'Make what happen?'

'I just had a flashback. When you bit my nose, I suddenly had a memory blank and then bam....I saw my old self in school. A scrawny black wolf being chased by bullies, running like a sprinter through the corridors. Dodging left and right between the crowds just to get away. You see, during my first two years in high school, I was an easy target. Only five feet in height, and no more than a hundred or so pounds. I was lean, with a more athletic build. But my height didn't do me any favors.'

'Woe woe woe, Crikey hang on a minute. I don't want to be assuming anything, but I thought you were a big wolf and competed in shows. You've never told me this before.'

'Yeah, well it's something I've kept to one side. This is way before I started competing, man I couldn't have been older than about eleven.' As the big wolf said this, Kauto snorted and chuckled a bit, making Maiden frown some.

'Eleven? Maiden you don't start high school until you're a teenager...I thought.'

'Yeah I know. But I was........' Maiden huffed deeply, and even went warm in the cheeks at this point.

'You were?'

'Oh...it's nothing important. It's stupid anyway.'

'What's stupid? Maiden, this is kind of a serious matter.'

'I was too smart okay!!! I attended high school early, two years earlier than I should have! I had no parents, no family, I constantly had to work to pay for things. My only true friend, Ayrton helped me out with a bedroom at his parents place. Too right it's a serious matter!! That's why I had to find something which would help me become stronger and stop those bullies from, well, bullying me.'

Kauto folded his ears, feeling a bit nervous due to Maiden's raise in tone. But he gulped and managed to ask something. But before he did, the stallion hopped back out of the car and clip clopped around to the other side. Opening the passenger door, he then pulled Maiden out and hugged him, confusing the wolf greatly. 'What are you doing?'

'I was getting nervous with your anger building then, so I want to hug you to calm you down. Then I'm going to drive you to Llandudno where you can continue telling me about your past. It'll be a little more peaceful there.'

Maiden shook his head confusingly, looking somewhat bemused by his Friesian's strange behavior. 'You are one weird horse at times, you really are. C'mon then if we want to get to Llandudno, get in.'

After doing so, the pair were in Llandudno within an hour and were walking along the beach front. The beach was busy with many muscled furs as expected, but the hot weather meant there were even more in the sea. But the pair remained up near the road, yet still on the stony sand. 'This is a wonderful place, is this where you lived?'

'My parents moved here a month after I was revealed to the earth as I said, and lived here for five years until they.......' Maiden sniffled, rubbing his eyes a bit as Kauto rubbed his meaty back.

'It's okay, I understand. Try not to remember that part of your life to much. Why don't you go back to the other story you were telling me earlier in the car.'

'That one isn't all that much better.'

'Why don't we skip the bit about the early part of high school, tell me how you grew up so quickly.'

'I guess I could. By the time I was thirteen, I was still two years ahead and something happened to me during a fitness lesson in the winter. I wasn't to bad at those fitness lessons at the time, but I was still a normal black wolf with an athletic build. I could run a hundred meters in around twelve seconds during this time. The thing was, I had finally become so fed up with being the youngest and probably smallest wolf in the year. After this one fitness lesson, my legs were burning from the exercise. This will sound strange, but I sat down in the changing rooms and started to love that feeling.'

'The burning sensation?'

'That's correct, it was amazing. So afterwards, I went back home...or with Ayrton to his home and asked him if he felt like going to a gym. He acknowledged and we did so.'

'I'm guessing that you enjoyed it.'

'Oh, enjoy wasn't the word. It was almost like a new start for me, I found that I was stronger than I thought. The first session...If you can call it that...I managed to curl a thirty five pound dumbbell in each paw.'

'Wow, you were strong. Did you keep going to the gym at the time?'

'I did, even though I was told by many others that I shouldn't be there until sixteen at least. I didn't care about that, I just wanted to feel that burning sensation from working out everyday. But, there was one particular day were I began to notice some changes to myself. Sure, I was nearly fourteen so I was expecting change. But not in the way that it happened.'

*Following winter, after first gym visit*

By now, Maiden had put on a noticeable amount of weight. He had grown another five inches in height and weighed the best part of a hundred and fourth pounds. Which for a wolf of his age and height, was pretty good. The workouts he had been doing with his good friend Ayrton, were certainly working. Even Ayrton was noticing changes. But It was Maiden who was becoming the stronger of the two.

During the winter, the completely black wolf's fur tended to become thicker and longer due to the cold weather. But this winter, it seemed a little more thicker and fuller than he was accustomed to. Maiden was again in the gym after school with Ayrton, working on a set of one hundred pound dumbbell curls. While his arctic wolf friend had ninety pounds. While finishing off for the evening, Maiden did his stretches and followed Ayrton back into the changing rooms. Nothing seemed rosy in this school, and as they walked through towards the showers, Maiden accidentally bumped into a rather heavily built grey wolf he had encountered many times before. This wolf was at least three years older than him, and had a much bigger physique with strapping shoulders and tight abs marveled by a pair of meaty pecs that stood out under his shirt. His lower body matched, and had Maiden in all sorts of bother.

'Hmm....I guess you couldn't stay away after all. Looks like you've put on a few pounds there my baby wolf.' The grey wolf...or Ralph as he was known, grinned evilly at Maiden to try and intimidate him. Normally, Maiden would have flown from the scene. But something inside him suddenly made him growl horribly back at Ralph. Next to him, Ayrton jumped as he heard it. But it wasn't the growl that did this. Ayrton's yellow eyes gleamed at the site of Maiden's sharp teeth, which certainly looked bigger than he remembered. Even Ralph gasped at this. 'Hmm.....look at those baby teeth. Very nice Maiden, but I think it's about time you were taught a lesson.'

Ralph growled as he took off his shirt, revealing what Ayrton had feared was underneath. The deep ridges and curves that formed his upper body, rippled and bulged with each motion he took. The grey fur covering those mounds didn't do much to cover the hardness of each muscle fiber.

With another deep growl, Ralph lunged towards Maiden in an attempt to spear him in half. But to the relief of the black wolf, Ayrton grabbed him by the tail and pulled him out of the way just in time. Sending Ralph tumbling into the showers. Maiden turned and immediately hugged his good friend closely. 'Thanks for that, you're a real pal. I don't know what I'd do without you to be perfectly honest.'

'That's okay, you mean a lot more to me. Anyway we'd better get out of here before Ralph reappears.' Ayrton had ran to the exit, while Maiden remained stood momentarily in the changing rooms. His mind thinking of what Ayrton had just said. He had never thought he meant all that much to the arctic wolf. He quickly came round however, just in time before Ralph reappeared and scampered out of the building.

Outside, the pair met up again and headed swiftly back home. Along the way, Ayrton noticed something different about the black wolf next to him. He eyed him up and down several times, making Maiden curious. 'Stop it Ayrton, you're making me nervous heh. Why do you keep looking at me like that?' Ayrton blushed a bit, feeling a tingle in his stomach.

'I err....I mean you are err.....you are changing very quickly Maiden. I mean I could swear you're fur has changed color slightly. You suddenly look different, I don't know why. I certainly didn't expect that growl from you either.'

Maiden stood momentarily again, and looked down at his paws. His eyes stared ominously as he noticed a few random hairs of a bluish nature had appeared. He then quickly jiggled around to see if there were any other blue hairs on his fur. Maiden couldn't find any, that is until he grabbed his tail and found more on the tip. His attention then turned to Ayrton. 'How did you not notice this Ayrton? Then again...how did I not notice it? Ayrton you've got to help me here, why have I got blue bits on me?' A very worried Maiden said while shaking Ayrton by the arms.

'I don't know, Maiden I'm color blind in one eye remember. It's difficult for me to see things that are clear. You should have noticed it anyway, when did it appear do you know?'

'Of course I don't, that's why I'm worried like this. I was completely black this morning, I remember putting my watch on.'

'Well, I'm not sure then. You're teeth were horrible when.......' Silence broke out from the pair as Ayrton suddenly realized something. 'Maiden, you don't suppose......

*Back to the present*

'That was when you first started getting your colors?'

'Mmhmm, it certainly wasn't the best experience I've ever had. I was so worried at the time I didn't know what to do. My anger got worse after that, and only since I've had you as my best bud, have I calmed down. That's another thing I'm thankful for from you.'

'You can still be the feisty wolf when you need to be, but you've certainly matured and controlled yourself brilliantly.'

'Thanks hehe. Listen, we need to get a hotel for the night. I'll tell you more later.'
