Robbie walked up to his apartment door, and sighed, leaning his head against the doorjamb momentarily before letting himself in. It had been a rather long and tedious day at work. Closing the door behind him, he dropped the keys on the table in the hall leading into the living room and the kitchen. Rubbing the back of his neck, which ached with weariness, he ambled toward the kitchen for some dinner.

He scrounged around in the kitchen for food, groaning as the refrigerator was very bare, except for a half-used jar of Miracle Whip, and one quarter of a loaf of bread. Sighing, he muttered quietly. Time to get some food. He shut the door and scowled, stalking his way back out of kitchen. He didn't notice his cell phone on the kitchen counter with it's LED display start glowing a strange blue.

A hour later, Robbie grunted, as he wrestled with the door key into the lock, and carrying two bags close to his chest which were in peril of dropping any minute. His smile, tired but triumphant, widened as the key finally unlocked the door. Kicking the door open, he quickly supported the other bag with his now free arm, and closed the door with the back of his foot. Reaching the kitchen quickly, he set the bags on the counter, and swept the cell phone to the side, ignoring it for now. He made his way back to the front door, locking it, then back to the kitchen to put his groceries away.

After several minutes of stocking his fridge, he made himself a few sandwiches on a plate he had gotten from the cupboard to the left of the refrigerator. He made his way to the living room, and clicked on the TV, then surfed his way through random channels, then settling on a comedy.

As he inhaled the last sandwich, he groaned, rubbing his slightly round belly. He mumbled softly to himself, not wanting to get up for several minutes. Robbie stretched out his 6'1" chubby frame, trying to relax on the couch. Soon, he fell asleep, his head lolling on his chest.

What seemed like moments later, the phone rang. He clawed his way from dreaming to wakefulness after the third ring with a scowl. "Dammit...." He desperately didn't want to answer the phone, but politeness inside him demanded that he ought to check. The phone rang once more. He ran a bit faster toward the kitchen, where the sound originated. As the fifth ring started, he grabbed the cell phone on the counter, and put it to his ear.

He spoke gruffly, "Hello?"

He frowned as a dial tone was the only thing on the line. He grumbled, "Figures.. they'd hang up before I got to them. Maybe they'll call later." Moving the cell phone away from him to hang up, his frown deepened. Instead of the normal green glow that his cell phone had, it was glowing blue. Before he had a chance to press the hang up button, the color of the display brightened to a brilliant hue, radiating outward. It suddenly enveloped him into a bright aura of colors before dissolving him and streaming into the LED display. And the cell phone disintegrated into nothingness.

A multitude of colors flashed by Robbie as he sped toward something -- what, he didn't know, but he was truly scared now. A small pinpoint of light became bigger, then brighter, then crackled into life as he tumbled into the middle of it, and then he passed out.

Night had fallen hours ago on the Digital World, and Leomon felt uneasy. The flora and fauna, and even the digimon of the same types were quiet and restless. There was something coming. Something Darker than the darkness that night brought glided over the sky, casting an ominous aura.

Leomon stared at the flitting shadow that had sped over the sky, with a worried expression. He knew that changes were coming again, and they might need help from the Human world. He hoped someone would answer their call. He hunkered down, and kept out of sight when it suddenly swept over him again; he held his breath, until it passed a safe distance away. Whatever it was, he knew he didn't have the strength to take on his own.

He judged the Darkness to be as far as possible to consider himself safe so he could take a rest. He had not dared to take a rest for most of the last day when the strange Darkness had been roaming around, searching for something. He hadn't found out its name, and he wasn't quite sure he wanted to know yet. Not until he found some help.

Leomon had also witnessed something disturbing several days ago while en route to his lair -- he saw a cloud of ...mist, for a lack of a better fitting name, cover one of his digimon friends and dissipate leaving the digimon unscathed other than one change. The digimon had a strange black crystal embedded on its forehead, and their eyes glowed -- red.

After one encounter with them, purely by accident, they had attacked him first without recognizing him, and he had to resort to defending himself. He was surprised at the strength of their brutal attack, and also shocked he hadn't been rendered into bits of data by that alone. The digimon in question was only in their rookie form, and he had no choice but to flee, hoping they didn't follow.

Luck was on his side. They didn't chase him.

Returning to the present, and shaking himself out of his thoughts, he slid to the ground under a tree, and leaned his maned head against the tree's trunk. He started remembering tales of the Digidestined that had come over the last few decades to aid their cause against the evil that threatened to destroy their world over and over, and hoped they would come again to help.

Soon, sleep finally overtook him, as he closed his eyes. His head leaned forward, and slumped into his chest, slowly breathing.

After what seemed to be minutes later, Leomon woke up from his slumber, and frowned. Instinct made him look eastward, and he suddenly saw a white flash, and a ripple in the fabric as something thudded rather soundly about ten feet away. Cautious, and hoping it wasn't a Dark Gem infested Digimon, he slunk toward the sound, and blinked. His nose suddenly registered something quite foreign, and something made his breath quicken slightly, but he pushed that last feeling aside, as he crept closer to the dark form that laid on the ground, motionless.

As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he stood there, stunned. He couldn't believe his eyes. It most definitely was not a Digimon. A human? After all these decades? But there was something different about this human. Leomon sniffed closer, and decided this 'human' smelled quite agreeable, but wasn't sure why.

He had never seen a human other than hearing about them in the legends. He frowned as he knelt down by the human -- the tales had depicted them as smaller, as kids who needed protection. But this human was large and solid-looking. Leomon scratched the back of his ear in puzzlement. This appeared to be an adult human.

He hesitated, trying to decide what to do. This human wouldn't last long, even if he were an adult in this world. Should I wake the human? He looks peaceful though. No. I should leave him alone, but I ...

Odd feelings warred in him -- to stay and protect this human, but he didn't want to stay in one place too long. He didn't think it'd hurt to stay, and at least keep watch over the human -- until he woke up in any case.

He settled down on the ground, crossing his legs, and waited.
