Fier
#8 of Land of the Elves
Hikarume's POV
The night seemed to pass by slowly, and I was up all night making a spell. At about two o'clock, a yawn escaped my mouth and my eyelids grew heavy. "I hope this works. This one should release Koshie's (Koshech. Too lazy to spell out his full name. Should I change his name?) spirit from the host, and this one will destroy his spirit. Hopefully," I looked at two papers with ancient glyphs and recited the written, "Now, 'Hosuto kara anata no seishin o kaih? shi, baindo o hakai suru.' Release thy spirit from the host and destroy the bound. Hopefully I used the correct words, and it doesn't use much of my energy that I faint." Quickly, I rolled up the scrolls and put them in a drawer in my desk. As I got up and began towards my bed, the wind broke through my window, giving me quite the fright and I jumped onto my feet. "Fier?" I asked in quizzled manner while looking at a ghostly image of a girl my age next to my window. The wind blew from behind her and threw her wispy hair around. Her dress was of what seemed to be clouds and it defied gravity, like clouds. "Yes, child. Surprised to see me?" her voice was just that of the wind's, quiet, angelic, and with a lisp. Yes, a lisp. "I-I thought you..." I stuttered, too surprised to speak. "Died? Yes child, I physically did, but I am using a host. Now, I must tell you about your father's spirit. That spell you wrote will partially work, but where did you come up with it?" she asked in a calm voice. "Eh, it just came like that after about a few hundred tries. But what'd-" she cut me off. "What made you think that this was the one that'll work?" "I have a feeling that it's gonna work." Fier chuckled, "There are four more parts to the spell. You need to find the other scrolls before you can face the true enemy." "True enemy? Wait, wait! What do you mean that my spell with only partially work?" My voice grew in volume. She just smiled and chuckled. "You have to absorb his power into your pendants." and with that, she disappeared into the air. I was left with a stunned look on my face. What had she meant by, 'absorb my father's power into our pendants'? Dammit! It's too late for this B.S., I need sleep. I stripped myself of my damp dress and got into my panties and a simple, blue v-neck short sleeved shirt. I was about to take my pendant off, but something urged me not to. I shrugged it off and hopped into my fluffy bed. Anxiety was gnawing at my stomach all night until I finally fell into the shadows of sleep.
Kage's POV I paced in my room, furiously thinking about Kiseki and my stupidity. "All the goddamn pieces of the puzzle fit together finally. No wonder she was so familiare! She was my damn caretaker and kidnapper! Gah! Did mother know? Probably not! The curse set on my mother, that sorry son of a bitch set it on her! Was that when my suspicions started? God damn the creature!" I thought aloud in a hushed voice, not wanting to wake anyone. I pulled at my hair and almost screamed with confusion. "Damn emotions!' The window creaked a bit due to the furocity. I looked over at the glass and glared, "What the fuck do you want, Fier?" The windows blasted open and the woman whom i was already familiar with came into view. She was about my age, and well, I sorta had a crush on her. Who wouldn't? Her pale skin, wisp-like hair, and pink lips would captivate any man. "Well excuuuse me then. Looks like someone's on their period! Oh wait, you're a guy. Never mind!" she giggled. It seemed like she knew about my crush on her, and she messes around with me! I listened to her conversation with Hikarume and she acted like a god damn adult! Women are so hard to understand. "I already know. I zeroed in on your conversation with my sis." I calmly answered. I leaned against the walls and felt the cold stone hit my bare back. I closed my eyes and thought about the upcoming day, until I felt skin hit me across the face. I fell down on my knees with my hand clutching my cheek. "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR, WOMAN?"
"Were'nt you ever taught not to spy on people?" I swear I could see the anger mark on her head.
"I was taught to do the opposite." I said darkly. I lowered my head, "My deepest apologies, Fier, goddess of the wind." A few minutes of silence passed and I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. When I looked up, I saw Fier's sorrowful face.
"Just like your father." she whispered, and she hugged me. She hugged me. At first, I didn't know what to do and I blushed. Slowly, my arms wrapped around her small torso and I pulled her close. Small spasms shook her body and it took me a moment to process that she was crying. I stroked her hair and kept her close. She gradually calmed down and she pulled away, wiping tears from her face. "I-I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me. I haven't cried in a few years."
"It's alright, Fier. I understand how you feel. You were close to my father I bet. Just seeing me brings back memories." I gave her my most sincere smile I could offer, and she smiled back. Her smile... damn. It was so cute. I felt my face flush instantly, and I quickly covered my cheeks.
Fier quickly noticed, "Kage?" I quickly lifted up my head and smiled, a faint pink tint still visable on my face, "Did I hit you that hard? I didn't think I would leave a mark like that!" she laughed. I began to laugh along with her until a yawn cut me off.
"I think I should be getting some rest now, Fier. I've got a day of adventuring ahead of me." She seemed hurt. But... why?
"Oh, alright. Hopefully if the wind is strong enough tomorrow, or if you're in the mountains I'll drop by for a visit. Sayonara." Fier got up and walked over to the window, and jumped out. The sound of the wind whispered through the trees. I walked over to the indow and shut it. Another yawn escaped my mouth, and I jumped into bed.
"We will succssed..." I heard myself whisper as I fell asleep.
