#1 of Tonka's Little Book of Horrors

Hello there friends. This is my first time writing something for horror and I'm very happy with how this turned out. I told my mate Liki what I was doing and he said something about a thing called FurFright? I'm not sure what that is entirely but I would love to I guess participate? I just don't know how one would go about doing something like that. Other wise well all have had our fair share of spooky houses, well, you... not me. -giggles- So my friends, this is a story about a lovely, smart wolf named Jack and his friends and their adventure into a spooky house. I hope you enjoy. ;3

I didn't believe anything that I was told about old Mr. Conlarks house. I was fed up with the rumors that he was supposedly this murderer, or that he was a warlock. Anyways, he supposedly sacrificed his family for something or rather. All I knew was that, there was just no such thing. My friends and I were walking home from school one day, it was the middle of November I believe. Jason, Mark and Audrie had a route that we took. I decided that one day we should change it up and take the short cut through the old cemetery. They all stopped and stared at me. " No way you kidding? Thats going to take us right by old man Conlarks house." Marks said.

Jason soon nudged his shoulder and laughed. " What.. you aren't scared are ya Mark? Little pussy cat." he chuckled softly. That even made Audrie laugh. Audrie was Mark's sister. We all got together as close friends when Jason and I pranked the Algebra teach by putting a snake in his seat. Mark was new at the time so Mr. Danison blamed him but Jason and I claimed it as ours. We liked to get away with our fun but didn't like others getting in trouble for what we did. WE got a whole mess of detentions for that one.

Anyways, I'm sorry I got off topic here. I had decided that we should cut through the old cemetery and sense there were four of us and it seemed that there was someone that didn't want to go. So I called to the traditional vote.

" Alright... all those who wish for the short cut say aye and those who don't say nay." I called out. Mark, the rabbit was quick to respond with nay. Audrie looked at him and chuckled. She said aye.

" Hmm tough decision there Jack, I think Ima say aye." Jason said teasingly. The fennec loved to tease others. Mostly in the sense he was kind of a jackass and incredibly sarcastic.

" Well I'm going to say aye as well." i stated. I didn't believe all those ridiculous stories about the house. I was all for it. Maybe even prove some people wrong. So it was three against one and it was kind of funny to see Mark's ears droop to the side. We all started to walk through the old cemetery. It was a tad foggy and chilled here though. No one has really been in here for a few decades. I heard a sigh of relief from Audrie as we finally passed through the cemetery. She looked around as if looking for something.

He got to the side walk and looked in front of us and there it stood. Old man Conlarks house. As we softly approached it, the wind started to blow and the gate opened. We all looked at each other and Jason spoke up before I could say anything. " Whelp looks like we got an invitation for spooksville!" he said loudly. Kind of what I was thinking as well. It took us a minute to convince Audrie and Mark to go with us but eventually we did.

" I don't think this is a great idea guys.." Mark stated. Audrie agreed with him.

" Oh hush. Its an empty house. We are just going to explore a little bit." I stated. Wee soon walked up the stairs to the front door and I went to knock on the door, but the door was already opened. I got a chill down my spine as I began to push it open. It was dark inside but the light from the windows gave just enough light to see. It was dusty, cobwebs everywhere. One by one we stepped into the house. Mark hesitated, being the last one to enter the house. We split up, just looking around.

We all got absorbed into something or other but none of us expected the door to shut. Audrie jumped and Mark rushed to the door, trying to open it. His efforts were in vein as the knob wouldn't turn. He started to beat on the door and started to yell. Audrie went strait to his side. They had tried to pull the door as hard as the could, but it was as if it was welded shut. Jason and I started to look at each other and got a laughed a little bit, shrugging it off as just some cheep trick to scare us. " Guys calm down! Obviously someone is screwing with us. Alright? Lets just play this game and try and find another way out." Jason told them. He started to look around

I wasn't to far off. I walked up to the siblings and looked at them softly. " Just relax okay? There is more than one way to get into a house."

" The Cellar! We can get out through the cellar doors. Old houses like these usually have doors to get into their cellars." Audrie said. She started to get excited and Mark still looked panicked. He was shaking like a leaf almost. He soon gathered his strength seeing his sister calm down. He looked a tad embarrassed but seemed alright for now. I looked around and then decided that the place was to big to just search.

"Okay... So.. I think we should split up. Mark and I will go upstairs to see if there is an open window that we can climb out of. Jason and Audrie you can look down here for that cellar."

" Why don't we just check these windows?" Jason asked which imediately made me feel stupid. He went to the window, trying to lift it open but to no avail. " No of course not... that would jsut be to easy..." he scoffed in irritation.

" Alright... since its clear that we have to look for an open window, I guess thats what Mark and I will do. You guys be careful alright. Just holler if you find anything." I said softly. Mark and I started to head upstairs. We tried to avoid touching anything because it was so dusty it would just get every where. Audrie and Jason disappeared underneath us as we got to the balcony. Mark stayed unusually close to me and it kind of bothered me cause I like my space. But I was compassionate and as long as he remained calm I didn't care so much. We soon found and old bedroom. We thought it was a girls room cause of the look of the bed. It was large and was draped in what seemed to a silk like cloth.

I looked at Mark and went strait to the window trying to open it. Mark went to the desk in the room. I got frustrated at the window not opening. I soon got a chair and threw it at the window in my frustration. But the glass didn't even crack. I soon heard something fall behind. I looked over and saw Mark on the floor, looking at the wall next to the bed. I went over to him quickly and tried to help him up, but before I could he pointed at the wall. I looked to see where he was pointing and saw an open room that wasn't there before. " I just.. I.. moved the candle.. and it just appeared..."

I went to investigate as Mark was to shaken up to move. I stepped through the door and what I saw baffled me. It had a picture on the wall. A large white wolf with a black hat and robes on stared back at me. It almost looked as if it was starring at me no matter where I had stepped. Just underneath the picture there seemed to be an odd desk with a bunch of candles, a pentagram on the table and a few strange symbols on them. There were papers scattered everywhere. Mark finally got the courage to walk in after me. He had picked up one of the papers and squinted his eyes on it. " This... this is dark magic... It appears to be a summoning ritual.." he said softly.

I looked at him with a raised brow. He noticed me staring at him and he began to blush. " Well.. let me explain. This is an old OLD language. Parts found in old pagan religions. Some of these I can't discern correctly. It appears to be a form of Latin. But... well.. it talks about something called.." he never got to finish what he was going to say. We heard a large scream from down stairs. My face went blank and I bolted passed Mark. He quickly picked up a few papers and a book that he saw and ran after me. I could sense his curiosity more than worry. He was always a studious fellow. Learning was something that made him go into a different world intirely.

He got to the stairs and I turned around seeing that he was reading the book. He soon closed it and rand down the stairs. " Audrie?!" he called out. I wasn't far behind him. We saw ran through the down stairs area and found Audrie running in full force down the hall, almost barreling over us. She looked looked scared to death. She was freaking out and clung to Mark as tightly as she could.

" J.. J..." she mumbled out. I soon couldn't contain my worry any longer. I grabbed her and looked at her. I started to asking where Jason was and all I got was stuttering. I started to getting frustrated and began to shake her and yell at her. Mark soon pulled me off of her. I walked away an punched the wall hard, putting a hole in it. " Jason.. it... it got Jason.." she stammered out. " We went down to the basement. It was locked at first.. but Jason said that it wasn't an issue. He broke the lock and the door opened. It smelled terrible.. like nothing I could ever really describe... but we went down there covering out mouths. WE.. We weren't the only ones down there.." she cried. I suddenly got a chill down my spine.

We stood there in silence for a moment and I got this antsy feeling. " What happened to Jason...?" I asked softly again, much more calmly.

" It chased us.. I don't know what it was.. it was hard to see down there with no light... But we heard its guttural growl and then movement. We ran back up the stairs. I was ahead of him and as soon as I got past the door I kept running. But I didn't hear anyone behind me. I turned and saw Jason.. He stared at me blank faced and seemed like he couldn't move. All I heard from him was a whisper... say... Run." she said softly as she began to cry again. " Then he was pulled back.. so fast that it caused the door to slam shut. I ran back and tried to open the door but it must have jammed... then... it started knocking.. no... pounding at the door and I just ran..."

I stood there silent. I didn't want to believe it, but how scared she looked, that was hard to fake. I rubbed my ears, trying to think. There had to be some way out of this house. And why was nothing wanting to open. I didn't understand any of this. This wasn't logical. Not one bit. I caught Mark reading the book again and I could see the fear in his eyes. " What are you doing?" I asked him. He just looked up at me, shaking a little bit.

" Well... I'm researching... you never know what you might find... it a... appears that the last owner of this house.. Carl Conlark... wasn't trying to summon something... but banish it.. These are his notes. The house was haunted by a demon of some kind.. he tried to banish it but the spell failed. Instead it took his oldest son. It became a part of him. His wife and him tried desperately to get rid of this demon but it was to infused with..." he was yet to really finish was he was going to say when we heard a large crash. I held up my paw, telling the both of them to be quiet. I silently walked around the corner, where we saw Audrie running. I peaked around to slowly to see what happened.

The door to the cellar was wide open. I suddenly got this sinking feeling as my instincts were telling me to move, hide. But I pushed them aside as I had to know. I soon saw something move. I got a glimmer of hope, thinking it was Jason but before I could move, I saw something grab on the frame of the door. it was a pair of hands, one on each side of the frame. My eyes widened as the claws at each elongated digit dug into the wall like it was butter, nearly effortless. He heard a crunching noise that made my bones hurt just from hearing it. I couldn't stand there anymore. i had to move. I walked over to the siblings and held my paw up to my muzzle. Telling them to keep quiet.

I tried to usher them to move, and quickly. I soon froze a bit. Something I never felt before. I heard a noise, it was as if someone was choking and gargling at the same time. Audrie made a squeak noise as she was about to scream but Mark caught her in time. I heard it move not far from us. The creaking of the boards and the scraping of something dragging. it sounded like metal carving into wood. We soon started to bolt in random directions not giving much thought to anything. Mark rushed up stairs and I bolted into the kitchen. I ducked into one of the small cupboard where one would keep cans or pans. I saw a knife on the counter and grabbed it just before I closed the cupboard doors, leaving but a small crack. I soon saw Audrie running around and such, panicking and breathing heavily. I whispered out to her to jump into the cupboard on the other side of the room quickly. I heard the creature just a few feet from me. I could hear it next to the door. She had trouble getting into cabinet but she managed. I sat and waited. My hiding spot was cracked just enough to where I could see where Audrie was hiding.

I heard it coming. It was close enough that I could even smell its breath. I bit my hand to try and keep me quiet as the smell was terrible. It was like the smell of excessive mold on food mixed with rotting flesh. It paid no mind in looking at where I was hiding. Instead it when strait to the cabinet where Audrie was hiding. And thats when I got a good look at it. My eyes widened as it had four long arms and two legs. It looked like its flesh was ripped from the rest of its body. Its fingers, each long with what looked to be sharpened bone for finger tips. A think, liquid seemed to ooze from its body. It had no tail and was a mix of pink, red and brown. It looked like it itself was decaying. I could see each muscle on its body tense up, like nothing was covering the muscle at all. It had no eyes as they were hollowed out in its scull. I could see its teeth, it looked like a canines muzzle and it had holes in the side of its head where I would assume its ears were at some point.

The only thing I found odd was that the lower half of it was pale, like it had sink but it was to small for its form. It wasted no time tapping at the cabinet and I prayed that Audrie stayed silent. It almost looked like it was receding. I let out a soft sigh of relief and closed my eyes. I soon heard it howl out. It sounded like a dying animal and I had to cover my ears as it was so loud. I heard the sound of wood snapping and then a much higher pitch scream. I opened my eyes and looked as it ripped the door off the cabinet. Audrie screamed as loud as she could as she was petrified to know ends. The creature ripped her from the cabinet and threw her in my direction. She hit the marble surface of the counter and fell to the ground.

She landed right where I could see her face. I could tell she was dead and it was bringing tears to my eyes. She stared at me blankly, unmoving. I soon saw her get softly pulled away, a blood trail forming from her. I soon heard the dragging stop. Just a few feet from me. I heard the sound of her clothes being ripped from her and then the snapping of bones. I winced each time I heard another bone snap. My skin tingled as the smell of blood filled the air. I heard the sound of flesh being ripped into. A gurgling noise rang in my ears. I tried to keep as still as possible. I was petrified. I couldn't move but I was shaking. my paw was stil in my muzzle as I tried to keep myeslf quiet. I soon heard it move. Its bones popped with each motion. I knew where it was heading when i heard it going back down the hall.

I wasted no time. I had to move now. I got out of the cupboard that I was in and looked to see where it dragged Audrie. I immediately started to puke all over the floor. What was left of her was just meat and bones. Her skin was gone, I could see bones every where. Most of them seemed not there. Essentially, there was nothing left but a carcase. I ran upstairs, light headed. I didn't feel well at all. I ran into the room where Mark and I found the room and closed the door. I locked it.

" J.. Jack?" I heard my name, coming from under the bed. I looked under there and saw Mark. " W.. where is Audrie...?" he asked as I could see he was about to cry. But I couldn't lie to him.

" I... it... it got her..." I said softly. " I.. I was to scared I couldnt' move.." I said as I busted out in tears. He soon got out from under the bed and he started to break down crying. We hugged each other a little bit till we finally calmed down.

" This.. we aren't going to make it out of here..." he said. I shook my head and placed my paws on his shoulders.

" Yes we are.. there has to be a way out of this house." I said softly

" No.. you don't understand... this house is cursed... we can't leave... none of us can... "

" Then we will just have to kill that bastard." I scoffed as I walked into the secret room that we had found and started to search through the paper. " There has to be something here we can use." I said restlessly. I soon found a wooden box with a latch and a lighter. One of the ones you could flick open and light. It was silver. Mark was in there with me, rumaging through the papers. I opened the box only to find a gun. I didn't know much about guns. I didn't ever use one before. I had looked at it for a bit. Soon the clip dropped from the gun. I looked to see how many bullets were in it and there was only one. I tried searching for more rounds for it but I couldn't find any.

I soon got an idea. " Mark... I think the stove in the kitchen is a gas stove.." I said softly. I started to get a large smile on my face. " We can blow it up and hopefully blow a hole in the wall out of here in the process." I said happily. I was excited to see some good in our situation. I but the lighter in my pocket and the gun just under my pant line. Mark nodded softly as he was going to back me up. He was a much faster runner than I was. " I need you to lure it to the kitchen so we can blow this bitch up alright?" I said softly. He looked down his ears drooping. But what surprised me was that he looked up at me with a serious face and nodded.

" For Audrie." he said. I nodded and got up. I walked out into the main room, Mark not far behind me. I looked up and stopped in my tracks. The door was wide open. I didn't even hear it open. And I got a cold chill up my spine.

" Mark?" I called out. I got no answer. I didn't want to look, but i forced my self to. I slowly turned around and saw Mark hanging. He was being held by his throat. The creature was on the ceiling. I stood there, shaking. It was all pale now. Now I knew what it was after in Audrie. It wanted her skin to tan up to fit its comfortable complexion. Mark was limp and I knew he was dead. I saw it reach up to his head. Its claws digging into his skull where his eyes were, ripping them out. I heard his skull cave in from the pressure. It ripped out his eyes and blood just dripped all over the ground. I saw it started to put the eye it just ripped into its own skull. Its face still looked the same as it did when I first saw it. It looked faceless still with the muscles and canine like features. I soon came to a dreaded realization and turned tail and ran.

I practically skipped the stairs, jumping down them. i tried the front door one more time and it still wouln't budge. I panicked and ran for the last place where I could think there would be an exit. The cellar. I found the door. It was still wide open. I heard the soft cracks of bone from upstairs and knew I didn't have much time. I rushed down the stairs and slipped on one of the stairs. I landed on something soft and wet. I tried to look for the gun but it wasn't where I had it anymore. It must have fell out when I slipped. It was really dark down here. I quickly got the lighter out of my pocket. I struggled lighting it at first but at the fourth spark it lit. And I soon realized what I landed in.

It was Jason. I landed in what was left with Jason. I could tell it was him from the tattered clothing. I started to cry. But that wasn't the only thing I found. I found multiple bones and remains of multiple people down here. Its been doing this for a while. My ears perked up as I heard it coming down there stairs from upstairs. I rushed and looked around quickly I soon found stairs that led outside. I knew what it wante. It had to have new skins to cover its body with. The first family, the Conlarks were the first. But there son, this thing now, was a wolf. It havested parts from others to make it more effective at catching its prey. But it need another canine to cover its face, another wolf.

I ran up the stairs and pushed against the door. It was locked but the chains on the other side looked heavily rusted. I knew I could break them with enough force. I jumped up, thrusting my weight against the cellar doors. I could hear the chain cracking. I also heard the creature coming down the hall. I panicked and did again. But it wasn't enough. One last push. I pushed up with all the strength I had left and the chains broke. I heard it moving around in the cellar now. I ran up through the opening I had now. When i got to the top I tripped over the top step and fell forward. I tried to crawl and stand back up.

I soon gasped. I felt a warmth in my leg. A sharp pain in my calves. I should have known, Mark was right. The creature wanted to toy with us. It let me able to open the doors. I felt a pulling sensation as I was suddenly dragged back down into the depths of the cellar. I screamed as loud as I could as I hit the steps, the cellar doors closing as I was dragged, leaving me, in the darkness.
