Wolfpack Core - Chapter 2 - Reminiscent
#2 of Wolfpack Core
_Eh, sorry this one took so long to type out. Being busy and everything it was hard to fit in time to write all of this out. Bit of a lame chapter from my end, but I guess this chapter was needed to progress the story.
Worries aside, I'm finally done with it. I hope you enjoy it. Feedback would be appreciated as well.
I'll slowly be progressing with Chapter 3 as well._

[Wolfpack Core - Chapter 2 - Reminiscent]
Corneria City is an AWFULLY big city. To get anywhere it would take a good amount of time. My apartment was about twenty minutes away from the academy. The distance from the academy to the Shooting Range was about three hours. The Shooting Range was on the edge of Corneria City. Since my hometown was near the outskirts of the city we could easily access that place.
It would seem awkward for me to just come into the Shooting Range not wanting anything so I had to have SOME reason to go. I stopped by the academy to go retrieve a pair of blasters that were given to me upon graduation. They were your standard, run-of-the-mill blasters you would see in stores, but it had the emblem of the Cornerian Flight Academy engraved in the handles of the blasters. Since they were fairly average blasters, they weren't very effective alone, hence the school giving you two for compensation. I, myself, am a one-handed wielder but have a more powerful laser that makes people flinch whenever their hit, much like Falco Lombardi's blaster design. I knew these two blasters would be a perfect gift for him.
After the leaving the Academy, I made my way over to the monorail station. Three hours seemed like an eternity right now. My heart began racing and I began to breathe more heavily. What would I say to Spike? What would I say to Pop? Would they be happy to see me? The thought killed me.
Soon enough, I arrived at the monorail station. From here, it was a good two block walk to get to the Shooting Range. The nerves I had from when I first arrived at the station stood firm and wouldn't let me go. My legs began shaking as a chill down my back shot my tail straight up. I've never been this nervous before. I knew I was just seeing a family member I haven't seen in ages, but it felt weird.
I made my way down the block to where the Shooting Range was. It looked exactly the same as it did three years ago. I stood outside looking at the metal door, the metal door that isolated my past and my present. Every thought about that night started to flood back again. From happily walking to the range from day to day from the painful grind of my father's dick entering my ass. I grabbed a hold of myself and snapped back to reality. It was time.
*whoosh*
The door quickly slid open. This place hadn't changed in one bit. The walls were as white as snow and the shelving and tables were as metallic as I remember them. They had gotten some new carpeting though. Originally, it was a dingy green color which they've since replaced with a soft gray color to match the modern look it was supposed to have. I looked towards the counter to find a muscular looking wolf sitting down tinkering with a blaster. I knew immediately it was Spike. It couldn't have been anyone else. The only thing I noticed significantly different was his hair which was done in a faux-hawk rather than the way he used to spike it three years ago.
He had heard the door open and continued to focus on the blaster in his workspace.
"Welcome to the Cornerian Shooting Range. How can I help you?" Spike asked without even turning around. I figured I should play around with him until he would turn around. I had to change my voice.
"Um, I have a couple of blasters from the Cornerian Flight Academy that were reported defective. Could you possibly take a look at them?" I said in a gruff voice. A tone completely opposite from my baritone voice.
"Jeez, the people at the Academy are becoming even more incompetent with their own god damn blasters. It's a miracle that people even survive in battle with those below powered blasters." He was still focusing on the blaster had been working on since I arrived. He was completely unaware that his brother who had been gone for three years was standing right behind him.
"They can't be that bad, can they?" I replied to him jokingly. As I had mentioned before, they were standard issue blasters. If you tinker with them correctly after receiving it, you could increase the efficiency of the blaster. In a way, it was a ploy by the Academy for people to do some tech work with the school's blasters. Find a way to make yours unique and better.
"They're the standard issue crap that they make up in Zoness. Those pistols are as garbage ridden as the planet itself is."
"Well you could tinker around with them to make them more powerful, right?"
"Right, but you can't over power it too much without overheating the blasters. You have to find a balance that could help you effectively in battle." He looked to be even more focused on his work. According to what I saw, he was trying to adjust the blaster to shoot out like a gttling gun. Although it would lose laser power, multiple shots to any part of the body would eventually result in internal bruising. "Sorry, I'm taking so long with helping you. I'm in the final stretch of adjusting this blaster."
*bzzt, bzzt* *bzzt, bzzt* Sparks flew as he continued to tinker with the blaster. He finally set his tools down and turned around.
"So let me take a look at those--" His words were cut off and his face turned really pale. It was as if he had seen a ghost or something.
"Hey, Spike." I said to him. That was all I could say to him. Anything else would've sounded really stupid.
He made his way around the counter where it was just an empty aisle between us. He began to make his way over to me and then uppercutted me in the chin causing me blackout.
I awoke a minute later on the floor with my head lying in my brother's lap as he sat against the counter.
"I totally deserved that." I said looking up at him.
"..." Spike growled at me. I knew was mad at me. I totally understood why he would be. I don't blame him one bit. Suddenly, a tear fell from his eyes, trickled down his face and landed on forehead.
"*sniff* Why, Rei...? Why didn't you come back...? *sniff*" Spike's tears began to grow in intensity. I got up and sat beside him on against the large counter. I held him close to me and let him cry into my chest.
"I..." I didn't know what to say. I had to think of something. "I just couldn't, Spike."
"Why, dammit?!" He started to choke on his words as tears started to flow down faster.
I hated to see him cry like this. I hated it even more that I could explain everything to him right now. It just wasn't the right time to. All I could do right now is let him cry it all out and be happy for myself that I was re-united with my brother.
Some time had passed and Spike fell asleep on my lap from all the crying and the front door had opening featuring a large Bengal tiger whom I knew all too well.
"Hey, Pop." I said to the tiger.
"Reiji?" Aiden was holding a bunch of groceries. Another thing I had failed to mention about this place is that it was also his home. On the floor above the shooting range, a rather large apartment stood firmly above the facility. He dropped the groceries and ran over and knelt down towards the level I was sitting at.
"Listen, Pop... I'm--" I started to say only to be cut off by the words of the tiger.
"We'll talk about this later. Let's get your brother into his room." he said to me. With his bodybuilder frame, he easily lifted Spike into his arms and we made our way to the back simulation room that was also linked to the staircase that led up to his apartment.
His apartment was pretty big. A nice kitchen with all the latest appliances upon entering. A lavish and comfortable living room with a huge high-definition television and to the left lied the two bedrooms that the apartment had. One was obviously his and the other one was obviously Spike's. Overall, it was a very warm and inviting home.
We entered Spike's room. How his room was styled was basically the exact same thing back at home... Rather it was too exact to be honest. Pop laid Spike down on his bed and shut the door behind us as we left the room. We sat next to each other on the couch. He held me close.
"Reiji, Reiji, Reiji..." He looked down at me with a smile on his face. "You have no idea how much we've missed you... What happened anyway?"
Before I could even tell him what was going on, I ask him something else beforehand. "Pop..." I began, "I have to ask... Before I tell my side, what happened after I left?"
"Well," He took his arm off of me and sat back in the couch. "We returned to your house the following day. Spike checked your room to find all your stuff had been packed up and your room completely empty. Your father's stuff as well, most of it was gone. It was like both of you abandoned the house at the same time. It was obvious at that point I couldn't let Spike stay alone at this abandoned place, so we took the rest of the day to move all of his stuff from the house to my place."
So that explained who Spike's room looked like it was back home. I thought of something at that moment. It made my heart race, but I knew it was something that had to be done. "Pop, you think we could go back to the old place? I'll explain everything on the way there."
"You sure about this?" he asked me. There was a sense of worry on his face. I wasn't sure what it was for.
"Yeah... I would have to face this again someday anyway." We both got up and made our way outside the shooting range. The house was a good distance away from here, so this would be a good time to tell him what was going on. We walked to the outskirts of the city where it suddenly turned from the bright city to the quiet, dirt roads.
"So let me ask you again, Reiji. Where have you been these last few years?" His hands were in his pockets ready to listen to whatever I had to say. I had my hands behind my head with my elbows pointed out. I was ready.
"I'll start with what happened that night we left the shooting gallery. Dark, stormy night... That kind of thing. We returned home to find an unfamiliar situation unfolding before us. My father was home and the moment we walked in, I knew it was trouble. I had to keep Spike safe, so that's when I told him to go to your place. I locked myself inside to prevent him from coming back in, but in a double whammy against me, it left me with me trapped with my father. It was at that point..."
I paused for a little bit. I took a deep breath in ready to admit the truth to him.
"He raped me."
Pop stopped dead in his tracks. "He what...?"
"He raped me..." I had to add on the next statement. "And... I liked it too."
"..." Pop grumbled as he looked at me. He was thinking about something intently. "So I guess the rumors were true back then..."
Okay... That wasn't the response I was expecting. "Rumors?"
"Something back when we were both in the Defense Force... I'll explain after you're done with your story."
I was still slightly put off that he still didn't comment on the whole fact that I LIKED it when my own father raped me. "So you have no comment on the fact that my father raped me at all?"
"Well, as mad as I am that your father would do something like that, I can't do anything about the fact that someone I deeply care about is gay. If that's the way you want to live your life, that's the way you want to live your life."
"But that's the thing, Pop. I'm not gay."
"So you're in that confused state, aren't you?" It's like he read my like an open book. Fuck, I hate when people do that. You can't make a decent comeback on those statements. "Don't worry about it, Reiji. In due time, you'll find out."
We started advancing towards the house again.
"..." He was right. I didn't have anything else to say about the matter, so I decided that I would just continue with my story. I smiled back at Pop to show that he was right with the matter though. "Anyway, my father was already gone by the time I had woken up that morning. I knew that I couldn't stay at that house, so I had to find my ticket out of there. I remembered all the stories you told us about the Defense Force. It was then I decided to leave this life and go enroll at the Cornerian Flight Academy. And about leaving this life... I'm not joking about that either."
I reached into my back pocket and showed him my ID. He read it out loud. "Vincent... Lucian... Kiba..."
He once again stopped dead in his tracks. "You changed your name?"
"Legally, I might add. No one at the academy knows me by Reiji Nomishito. They all know me as Vincent Kiba, the best damn sharpshooter in the whole academy."
"So what exactly do you want me and Spike to call you...? You wanted seperation from this life, but then again, you did bother to return to re-unite with that name."
"Just call me, Reiji... Despite the memory attached to it, there's still a good amount of memories attached to that name also. Plus, it would take too much time for you to adjust anyway."
"Fine with me, Vincent." he said cheerfully.
I had to think about how that rolled off his tongue. "Um... Just call me Rei, Pop. It sounds weird coming from you."
We finally arrived at the abandoned house. The look of it hadn't changed in three years. Aside from wildly growing grass and it becoming slightly more dingy, nothing had really changed at all. My heart began racing again. That night was flooding back again and the images burned through my mind again.
I closed my eyes and clenched my fist. "Fuck..." I said to myself.
"You okay, Reiji?" He knew how hard it was for me to come back here.
I took a deep breath. I had to go back inside and see if I could find something. Anything about where my father's current whereabouts were. Why? I had to end it once and for all with him. If I ever wanted to be free to live my life without worry, I had to deal with the problem that started it all to begin with.
"Yeah... Let's go inside..." I lead Pop into the house. The door was unlocked as we made our way to the living room. Cobwebs all over the place and dusty as hell. Surprisingly after three years, all the furniture that was there the day we left was still there. Kind of surprising that nobody would rob an abandoned house. I just tried to take it all in. I left this life and tried to make a new one, but before I could comprimize with the new one I knew I had to face my past. Pop stood in the doorway knowing that I was having a hard time dealing with this place.
"I'll be outside when you're ready, Reiji..." he closed the door behind me and left me alone in the house. I climbed to the second story of the house where my bedroom was. The wooden door creaked as I opened it (Yes, I know, this society is highly advanced, but it's not like we can't appreciate wooden doors as opposed to the automatic doors that most people have. It gives the house a more "homely" feeling). My room still had all it's furniture as well as everything I had left behind, such as extra clothes that probably won't fit me now as well as some extra toys and stuff that weren't important. However, I did find a note on the bed.
"Hmm...?" I picked up the note. It was written by Spike.
_Reiji,
I don't know where you've gone, but should you ever read this note, I'll be waiting for you to come back. I don't know what Dad did to you that night, but just remember that I'm your brother... You could tell me anything. It's not going to change my opinion of you. I just hope when you do find this note, you'll be able to tell me everything. I've kept your promise to stick with Pop, it's only fair that you promise to tell me everything when the time comes.
I miss you. It sucks not having my best friend around all the time. Please come back soon.
- Spike_
My eyes started to water. "Dammit, he was ready for the truth this whole time..."
I thought that he would've been too young to even handle what happened... I had looked at the date written on the paper. The note had been written three years ago about a month after I had left.
Sometimes I question who's the more mature one in our family, I might be older, but honestly, that means nothing. He's mature beyond his years and has endured so much more than I have this whole time. If I think my sexuality confusion is bad, the fact he lacks any direct family is even worse. I felt really guilty about it.
I wiped the tears from my eyes and put the note in my pocket. I had to tell him everything when we got back.
I exited my room and went down the stairs to my Dad's bedroom. Once again, everything still intact, just incredibly dusty. I went through his dresser, his closet... Everything... Just hoping to find a clue regarding of where he might be. I looked into his nightstand to find a weird metal emblem.
It looked to be a crescent moon with a wolf wrapping around it's Y-axis (think Firefox logo). I put it in my other pocket hoping that Pop would know what it was. Now that I had found something I just decided to take in the rest of the house before I had to part with it again.
It was a good hour before I had emerged from the house. I saw Pop waiting patiently out on the road sitting on the curb.
"You find everything you need?" he asked me. I sighed.
"Yeah, I did... Let's go back." I helped his huge frame up from the ground as we walked back to the Shooting Range. We reminisced about the good times we had before I had gone AWOL.
We finally reached the Shooting Range when I remembered about the emblem I had found.
"Oh Pop, I found this is my father's room..." I flashed the emblem at him. "Can you tell me what this is?"
His eyes widened quickly. He pulled me inside and locked the door behind us.
"What the hell was that for?!" I barked at him.
"Reiji... Where did you say you found this again?" he asked me. A serious tone had set in.
"In my father's room... What is this?"
"That's the emblem for the Cornerian Yakuza. If a member of their family spots someone with this, they're marked for execution. They're one of the most organized and deadliest crime families in the Lylat System. There's at clan on each planet, even Zoness." He snatched it from me and took it to the workbench behind the counter. He took a blowtorch he had and began melting down the metal.
I knew what he was doing was a bit extreme, but I understood why he did it. I was going to question him more about the Yakuza, but that could wait. I had something more important to deal with.
"Think Spike is awake, Pop?" I asked him. I was ready to tell him everything.
"Go check for yourself, Rei. I need to clean up this mess." he said to me.
I ran upstairs to his living quarters and saw his door was still closed. I knocked on the door.
"Hey, Spike... Can I come in?" Silence... The door was unlocked so I made my way in to find the room empty and the window open. His curtains were flapping in the wind.
"Oh, fuck..." I said to myself.
