#24 of Rising Downfall
The next installment. Guil finds out more about himself. Also introducing a new made logo.
I couldn't believe that I got to see Sly, Shadow, and Python again. I never even knew what had happened to them. It has been so long since I had saw them last and I was really happy to see them. They had led me to a green tent that wasn't too far from that ruined village. They took the time to stitch up my bullet wound. After that we had a marvelous meal. They had a lot of supplies and materials so they were set for a few weeks or perhaps a few months. I couldn't believe we were eating some lobster. I was extremely hungry so I ate until I was really full. They were all surprised to see that I had about 9 more plates than them. I guess I had quite an appetite.
The guys and I also took the time to catch up on things. I went first and explained to them what happened after we had gotten separated from the train. I told them about being able to transform into a wolf, meeting a pack of wolves, eating a Wolf Seed, developing amnesia, and making Captain of the Hawk Warriors. I bet my team and family is really worried about me. Especially Grazar and Shang. I know those two are overprotective of me. But, what would I do without them?
The guys started to explain their side of the story. After they had lost our pursuers, they had settled down in a village that wasn't really too far from the Forbidden Village. It was a village called Sukon City. It was actually where Shadow and Python grew up at. They had met with their King and they went through some more training to get stronger so that they could set out to find me. We were brothers after all. As the years went on, they decided to make a little team of their own as they ventured out to find me. They didn't really have a home anymore so the guys tended to travel a lot. The next thing they explained to me surprised me. While they were settling here, they had come across some ruins that were written in an entirely different language than our time. Sly said that he had seen a picture of someone that looked a bit like me. He believes that I may be able to read the ancient writing that was in those ruins. It all makes sense now. That's what the Eagles were looking for. If it relates to me, it wouldn't hurt to go to those ruins and check them out.
We had made our way to the ruins about a few minutes later. We had to make sure that we weren't followed or else we were screwed. The entrance was already open and we made our way inside. Sly lit a torch and led the way inside. The stairs seemed to go on forever as there were a whole bunch of writings and pictures everywhere. This was amazing and what a discovery! I could see why this should remain a secret.
Soon enough, we seemed to have come across a dead end.
"This is as far as we have gotten," Sly said in disappointment. "The rest of it is blocked and we cannot understand this writing. And I'm an old dragon and I have never seen a language like this."
While he was talking I was staring at the writing on the wall. It... It was weird. I could... I could actually read it.
Our bond is our power. We fight for justice and to maintain truth and balance to the world. We fight in the shadows in order to serve the light. We are the Blessed Assassins and our legacy shall live on in the purest of hearts.
The Blessed Assassins... Why do I feel like I have heard of them before? Why does this all ring a bell? Do I have some sort of connection to this? I seem to because when I looked over at the guys, they were looking at me funny.
"Guil, what did you just do?" Python asked me.
"What do you mean?" I asked back.
"You were...speaking in another language," Shadow said surprised.
"I was? I don't recall speaking in another language. I was just reading what was on this wall."
"You could read it the whole time?" Sly said even more surprised than the others.
"Well, yeah. I don't know how, but I could."
"Then perhaps you know how to proceed further into the ruins?"
I just shrugged and turned back to the wall. As I was staring at it, the strangest thing happened. When I blinked my eyes I saw some sort of button in the wall. I slowly put my hand on the wall and pushed it in. All of a sudden, the wall started to lift up and it revealed another room. I held my hand up to my eyes and tried to shake off this sudden tingling sensation.
"What did you do this time?" Sly asked me again.
"I-I don't know," I replied again. "I just...saw the button and opened the door...and now my eyes won't stop feeling funny..."
I shook off the weirdness and we all entered the large room. In the middle of the room was a pedestal and on it were some weapons around it, some scrolls, and an outfit of some sort. Is this an old shopping mall that was never build? I noticed on the side of the outfit was an old tape recorder. I picked it up and pressed the red button on the side of it to make it play.
"Hello Guil," it started to say. It was... It was my father's voice. "If you are listening to this, it means I am no longer in this world and that you are curious as to what all of this is all about. I will try to explain as best as I can without sounding like someone who belongs in an insane asylum. The Blessed Warriors has been passed on from generations to generations. It all started with a dragon named Brigerd Shaman. Many called him the wingless dragon because he had one day went against the organization's laws and had his wings removed. As he continued to work out and did as he was told, he had discovered that the leader of the organization was plotting to dispose of all of the assassins behind the scenes. He betrayed his brothers and was brought to justice. But even so, the Blessed Warriors would bring justice onto those who would dare do wrong to others. Some would see us as heroes. Others would deem us as vigilantes who run around in silly costumes and pretend to make the world a better place. They do not understand our way. We work in the darkness to serve the light. We give all of humanity hope and to give them the courage to dream. We want them to believe that they can do more once they put their mind to it. We are the symbolism of hope. We are the Blessed Warriors.
"There are many things I never got to tell you because you were too young and inexperienced to understand. For one, was the organization I was a part of with Grazar and his family. We founded this long ago because we did not appreciate what humans were coming to. We had thought that they needed order and to be reminded that we still rule this world. I used to think that there was no other way but I started to realize that there has to be more to it than that. We can still work with them. My father and grandfather thought the same, so we tried to disband the group, but Grazar and his family are still running it. They may one day make a move but I do not think that will happen anytime soon.
"I, too, have become a Blessed Warrior. I have been an assassin and your mother has known about this. Even Shadow knew about it...including his brother that had never returned from The Forbidden City. I made them promise not to say anything about the Blessed Warriors until the time would come. You see, all of us, especially your ancestors, had a common enemy: A white dragon. We do not know who he is or where he came from but I think he has it in for our bloodline. He has to be stopped. We all tried and a few of us have failed. I know this is a lot to take in but you are Guilbert Anton Hawkings, a descendent of many fascinating assassins and, most importantly, my son. Your brothers and sister should know of this, as well. So, there are also scrolls that details item creations and item synthesizes that should help. You know who you really are, my son, so I advise you to take care of yourself and your siblings...and just know that your mother and father are always with you,; not only physically, but in spirit as well. I love you, son. Farewell."
The tape ended there. While the whole time I was listening to that, I was in tears. There was so much he had told me in that recording and I felt that he was right here with me again. I got to hear his voice again...even if it was just a recording. I was...still happy that he was able to relay this message to me. I understand more of who I truly am.
I slowly turned to Sly and the others and I wiped my eyes.
"You guys were assassins the entire time?" I asked them.
They looked at each other and Sly was the only one that nodded.
"It is true. Your father asked me to be a part of it and later I had Shadow and Python join me. We felt it was time for you to find out who you really were. That was one of the reasons why we tried to find you. We think you were ready to realize who you are and the family you had come from."
I didn't say anything to that. It was a lot to take in still. I had come from a line of assassins that brought justice to the world and would always do good for the world. I feel honored to be a part of this.
A few minutes had passed by as I was changing my outfit. I was now wearing the outfit that my father and my ancestors before had left for me. The shirt was a bright red and the hoodie that came along with it was a darkish brown that can easily be mistaken for black. The shoulder pads that were on it were grey and the fingerless gloves were brown. I had a belt with pouches on them that contained some little orbs that looked like smokescreen pellets. There was a second one that contained some small throwing knives. Now these were pretty cool. I still had my jeans on that came with the Captain outfit but I had changed my boots from the Captain ones to the darker brown ones. I also now have two swords to have some fun with, two extra pistols, another short dagger, and two gauntlets that came make razor sharp blades come out of them. Oh man, I was so ready to take on anyone.
When I was finished, the boys smiled at me.
"You looked just like your father when he wore that," Sly said with a smile. "It's time for us to get you back to Hawktown. There is a secret route around the Masked Eagles that we can take to get back there but we'd have to travel at night. We'll use the darkness to our advantage. Plus, it'll be much cooler in the nighttime."
I nodded as we made our way out of the ruins and closing the hidden door behind us. We made our way back to the tent and conversed a little bit before the sun went down. When the time had come, we packed up everything and headed toward the hidden route that they were talking about. I do agree that the breeze did feel good in the desert. I was enjoying it until I tripped over something in the sand. It was a purple flute that was sticking out. I slowly picked it up and examined it. The front of it had a dragon's head on it. I shrugged and blew into it and it made a funny sound. Shadow and Python looked at each other and shrugged. Little did I know that Sly was looking at me bizarrely. I felt like nothing had happened so I blew into it again. That must've triggered something because Sly suddenly tackled me to the ground and was glaring at me.
"S-Sly, what are you doing? G-Get off me," I said to him. He started to growl and snarl at me until I kicked him off me. He sat up quickly and looked around in complete confusion.
"What the hell happened to me?" he asked while rubbing his head and stomach.
"I...think I may know what that is," Python said while his face was turning red. "I think that is a Dragon Flute. When blown, other dragons that are nearby who hear this either lash out in rage or...they try to mate."
Both Sly and I went wide-eyed from that. Was Sly really trying to...?
"Oh, hell no!" We both shouted out and shivered from what we heard and what just happened. Ugh...that's disgusting and...well, wrong.
Unfortunately for us, the noise had brought about reinforcements from the Eagles as they charged toward us. We were getting ready to return the attack until there were a couple of explosions in front of us, which caused the Eagles to retreat. After the smoke cleared, we looked up and saw who had come to our rescue. It was Grazar!
