Adventures of a Blind Tigress, Chapter 8 - Differences
#8 of The Adventures of a Blind Tigress
Duke takes Dannica aside to talk about his concerns with Hope, and Hope surprises Dannica with her reaction to a difficult situation.
Like any other day, the sun shining through the window warmed Dannica's face and woke her slowly from her dream. Though she'd started in the house getting used to the silence of her room after the bustle of the hospitals that she'd been confined to, and before that the quiet activity of the house around her in her old town, she was again starting to get used to having someone else there with her.
She lay on the bed, comfortable and cozy beneath the covers with her arms wrapped around a warm and furry lover, and from the feeling between her legs, the dream that was quickly fading from her mind was something heavenly, and it probably had something to do with the tiger in her arms.
It was the weekend, and the school week had taken its toll on the both of them. Dannica had been moved up through her classes as the teachers finally found that she was learning faster than the other kids. Hope's influence was paying off, and so were all the skills that she had taught Dannica at the onset. Dannica had never felt so confident in her ability to learn and to study, and she found that when she was around Hope, she actually enjoyed the studies.
So in the little time that she'd been at the school, she'd been jumped up until she was finally in the same level as Hope. She still had some catching up to do, but there wasn't anything stopping her from going that extra mile and she had the lovely tiger next to her to thank for it.
As she shook off the last vestiges of sleep, she yawned and nuzzled her face into Hope's neck, feeling her chest rising and falling under her arm and she felt her friend moving as she started to wake as well. She left her muzzle buried against Hope's neck with her hair trailing under her chin and she sighed happily. There was nowhere else in the world that she'd rather be.
She felt Hope stirring and then rolling over and she slid herself back a little to give her some room. The bed moved under her and then another arm reached out and draped over her shoulder.
"Good morning, Dannica," Hope's sleepy voice sounded even sleepier than usual. It had been a long night the night before. They'd stayed up late to get the remainder of their studies done for the weekend so that they had all their free days to themselves.
Dannica smiled when she heard the voice and decided to show off a little by aiming right for the source with her lips. She wasn't far off, and after a small adjustment, she kissed Hope's lips with a happy chuff.
"Good morning yourself," she said.
"Think we can just stay in bed for a while?" Hope asked. Dannica could hear the tiredness in her voice and she nodded.
"That's fine with me. I didn't have anything to do today, anyway."
She felt Hope nod, moving her head against the pillow, then after only a moment, her breath went back to the easy rhythm that told Dannica she was asleep again.
It didn't matter, though. Dannica was perfectly content to lie in bed, wrapped in her friend's arms with the warmth of the sun on her face.
She relaxed and let her mind wander, chasing down thoughts and ideas that she'd had during the study session the night before. It wasn't anything important, just something that she did on occasion. There wasn't much for her to do sometimes, and she found her thoughts entertaining enough.
She was more tired than she thought, though and after a few minutes of her thoughts following the winding paths in her mind, she found herself drifting back off.
When she next woke, she was still beside Hope in the same position with Hope's arm draped over her. She could hear her friend's quiet, even breathing, but she couldn't lie in bed any longer. Her bladder wouldn't let her.
With a quiet sigh, she wiggled out from Hope's embrace and went about her morning routine, finding her prosthetics on her nightstand and putting them in before she walked to the bathroom, careful to be quiet in order to not wake Hope. She could tell by where the sun was shining on the bed that she'd gotten another hour of sleep, and she felt rested and ready for the day.
When she was done in the bathroom, she made her way to the closet, finding the little pile of clothing right where it should be. She smiled when she remembered the first weeks in the house with the plain clothing that her father bought and laid out for her. Today, it wasn't the utilitarian clothes of back then. She could feel the lacey bands on the underwear and the flattering trim on the bra. The shirt that she picked up draped over her hands, flowing like silk as she picked it up. It was something that she'd found while she was shopping with Hope and she just had to have. Thankfully, Hope had been there to talk her out of the one she was holding, reminding her that chartreuse wasn't exactly the most flattering color for a tiger.
The shorts, though, were the same cargo shorts that she always wore. Hope had tried many times to talk her into the trendy, tight-fitting shorts that would show off her lower body and her legs, but she was in love with the way that the cargo shorts felt on her body and all the room that they gave her to move around. She didn't see the point in getting rid of the cargo pockets for something that had pockets into which she could barely fit her hands. So it was with a lot of huffing and complaining that Hope had finally given in, realizing that Dannica had a stubborn streak that just wasn't going to budge.
She wondered as she dressed what colors she was wearing today, but she wasn't at all worried. She'd gotten so many compliments on her clothing since she started working with Hope that she knew whatever it was would be perfectly lovely.
She giggled when she reached the bottom of the pile and found the two smaller hair ties taped to the shelf. She'd wondered the first time she'd found them there, until Hope had shown her how to do her hair up into pigtails. That had led to some exciting times later on in the evening, and now when she found those two ties, she always got a jolt of excitement out of it.
She walked out of the closet as she was putting her hair up and sat on the foot of the bed, listening to Hope's sleepy breathing still. But there was another sound in the room as well, another set of breaths off to the side by the door.
She tensed at the realization and took a breath through her nose, taking in the scent of the room. Her alertness ebbed as she recognized her father's scent.
"Are you trying to scare me, Da?" she asked with a smile.
She heard Duke's quiet laugh from the side of the room and then his heavy footfalls on the carpet.
"No, Dannica, just seeing how you're doing," he answered. "Your hearing is getting better."
Dannica nodded and smiled with pride. She was kind of expecting it, but it came along so gradually that she didn't even notice that she was starting to be able to tell the difference between people by the sound of their walk or their breathing.
"I just wish that I couldn't hear the televisions in the classroom. When they're on, I can hear it, and no one else in the class can. It drives me crazy."
Duke laughed and Dannica felt his arm on her shoulder.
"Come downstairs with me, Dannica. I want to talk to you."
"What about Hope?" Dannica asked.
"Let's let her sleep a little longer, okay?"
Dannica nodded and wrapped her arm around her father's, letting him guide her down the familiar hallway to the stairs and down to the living room. She automatically found her way to her favorite chair, the one with the sunbeam that always hit about this time of day, and she wasn't disappointed. The warmth on her face made her smile, though there was something about the tone in her father's voice that made her think that this wasn't exactly a normal talk.
"Have you noticed anything off about Hope lately, Dannica?" Duke asked after he sat down. From the sound of his voice, she knew that he was sitting in his usual chair as well.
"What do you mean?" Dannica asked.
"I mean anything different."
"Well, she's been really tired lately, sleeping a lot, but I've been sleeping with her when she's over here."
The silence lingered for a breath, and then another and she was about to continue when Duke spoke again.
"Dannica, you remember what I told you, about where you came from and who we think you are?"
Dannica nodded, but she didn't say anything. She didn't really want to think about the strange origins that Duke talked about.
"Well, I think that you're spending so much time with Hope that you're draining her. Her body can't keep up with what you're taking."
Dannica frowned. Could it be possible? Could it be her that was making her friend tired all the time? She shook her head, not wanting to believe it, but for some reason, the words rang true.
"But," she said, pausing as she tried to collect her thoughts. "But I don't want that. Isn't there a way to turn it off?"
She heard the concern in her father's voice.
"We haven't found anything like that in the records, Dannica. You have to remember that you're still a little bit of a mystery. We don't know everything about you or..."
Dannica heard the unspoken words in his unfinished sentence. Your mother, was what she knew he was going to say.
"What can I do, Da?" she asked.
She couldn't for a moment even think about not being with Hope. As the days had gone by, they'd developed a bond so strong that even the thought of being away from each other for more than a day sent tremors down her spine. But if what her father was saying was true, then that proximity and the love that they shared were the very things that were hurting her love.
"I don't know what to do, Dannica. You've got to find a way to give Hope a rest. If she was an adult, then she might be able to handle it, but what's happening is too much for her."
There was a conflict in Duke's voice. She could tell that there was something that he needed to say, but he didn't want to. He was holding back from her, and that simple fact made her frown as a little fire of anger lit in her belly.
"Just tell me, Da, please."
Duke sighed and she heard him shift in the chair.
"All right, Dannica. You know that I love you and I want to keep you safe, but this is something that I never thought I'd ever have to deal with." He cleared his throat, and Dannica could almost picture him trying to gather up courage to say what needed to be said.
"You need to find someone else to split the time with Hope. I know what the two of you feel for each other. No one who looks at either of you when you're together could possibly miss it, but that's not what you feed on, Dannica. It's the physical side."
Duke chuckled with a strange tone behind it.
"Everything in our society nowadays is going to tell you what I'm telling you to do right now is completely wrong, but you're a very special case. You need to find someone else to share the physical side with."
Dannica frowned and thought about what Duke was saying, and she realized that every time that she'd felt the deep satisfaction and satiety that kept her from taking everything from her friend again, it had been during their sexual adventures. That meant that her father was telling her that she needed to find another partner. Not necessarily another lover, but another person who could fill that hunger inside her.
She sat in the chair and turned her face to the sun, trying not to giggle with how absurd the conversation was. She spent so much time in school being told that everything she and Hope were doing together was bad and wrong, even if she'd been doing it with a boy. And here her father was, telling her that she needed to find exactly the thing that everyone around her was telling her not to find.
The trouble was, who else could she trust? It wasn't like she could just go around and sample people. She heard the way that the other girls talked about each other at school. All that had to happen was one word to get out and she'd be labeled and tormented for the rest of her time in the school. When she thought about it, it was amazing that word hadn't already gotten out about her and Hope, though the fact that she was blind and Hope was her Seeing Eye tiger probably helped immensely with that.
"Do you understand, Dannica?" Duke asked.
Dannica nodded. She understood that if she didn't do what he was telling her to do that she might end up sickening or killing the person that she loved the most in the world.
"Yes, Da."
Her mind was still reeling with what he was telling her, something she would never have thought about in a million years. She felt safe with Hope, free to be herself and let herself go. She didn't feel that way with anyone else. But even as she thought about it, she could feel that other part of her, the part that was buried so far down inside that she didn't even recognize it if she wasn't paying attention. She knew that part wouldn't have any trouble with what she needed to do.
"Here," Duke said quietly. She heard him rummaging through one of his bags and she smiled at the memory of him in their old living room in Novvy Urengoy, always with some kind of bag near at hand with all his gear. There was a very quiet rattle of metal and a cold chain dropped over her head and around her neck. She reached up to touch it and found a small locket.
"What's this?" she asked.
"That's a locket, Dannica. Just like my sister used to wear. It's got a picture of Hope inside, so it looks exactly like it's supposed to, but it's got a very small button on the top."
Dannica found the button without much trouble, a barely noticeable little bump in what would be a small heart around her neck. She knew by the feeling that no one would notice it without her sensitive touch.
"It has a locater beacon inside. If you need help, you push that button and someone will be there as soon as they can."
"Someone?" Dannica asked.
"You didn't think that I just sit around all day keeping an eye on you, did you?" Duke asked with a chuckle. "Cadie and John help me out a little here and there."
Dannica nodded. The names were familiar to her, as both of them spent quite a bit of time in the house. She knew their footsteps and the sounds of their voices well. Cadie was short for Cadence, though God help the person that called her that. She was Cadie or CS, and the only reason Dannica knew her full name was that she overheard her father talking with someone on the phone about her. She was the largest woman that Dannica had ever met, standing almost seven feet tall. She had the build that reflected the fact she worked out more often than anything else, and she was never without some sort of meaty, tasty snack, something she was always willing to share with a little blind tigress who, if she had to be honest, would admit a bit of a crush on the big panther.
Where Cadie was absolutely huge, John was almost the opposite. A cougar from the mountains, he had a slight build and a friendly voice, and he always smelled like pipe tobacco, something rather comforting for Dannica. It was a very specific kind of scent, though, not the tobacco that she'd smelled on most pipe smokers. His smelled more spicy, like it was more exotic than the stuff at the corner store. She'd never asked about it, but she always felt safe around him, almost as much as when she was around her father. Despite his smaller stature, he had a wiry strength beneath his fur, something that she felt whenever he hugged her. He never made so much as a sound when he used to carry her up the stairs to bed when he was helping Duke out around the house.
Just knowing the two of them were on the other end of the emergency button put her mind at ease. There was nothing on the earth that those two couldn't deal with, of that she was positive. She stood up and let her fingers run over the locket again and then smiled at her father.
"Looks like I have a little bit of a talk to have with Hope," she said.
"Be honest with her, Dannica," Duke said. "I think she'll surprise you."
Dannica nodded and then turned and made her way back upstairs. She counted the steps to the stairs, and then the steps up them, all the while trying to either distract herself from the conversation that she knew she needed to have or give herself the courage to actually bring it up. Talking about what they had and what they did still wasn't the easiest thing in the world for her, even though they'd been together for so long.
She found herself at the door to her room, almost bumping into it with her mind racing. Finally, she reached up and opened the door, trying to slink into the room as quietly as she could. If she didn't wake Hope, then perhaps she could put it off for a little while longer.
"Are you okay, Danni?" Hope asked.
Dannica almost cursed aloud, but she held it in while she nodded.
"I'm fine," she said, moving quietly across the room to sit on the bed.
"Sure, and next you're going to tell me that you're going to ask Jason to the fall formal."
Dannica chuckled and laid back on the bed with a sigh, organizing her thoughts as best she could.
"Just a talk with Da, is all."
"Well, what was it about?"
"About us."
Hope was silent for a minute and Dannica felt her turn over in the bed and heard the slide of her arm against the sheets as she propped her head up on it.
"You said he knew about us, and that he was alright with it," she said finally, a note of concern and worry tinging her voice. There was a little bit of fear there, too. Dannica knew that Hope's family didn't know about her and her sexuality.
"He does, and he is," she said, keeping her voice calm. "But you remember what he said I am, right?"
"Yeah, that's not something that you just forget really easy, Dannica."
"Well, he thinks I'm taking too much from you. You've been really tired lately and sleeping a lot." Dannica sighed and shook her head, wanting it all to go away. "He thinks I need to share it so I don't hurt you."
Hope was quiet again and she settled back down on the bed, pulling Dannica in close. "What do you want, Dannica?"
"I want you to be happy, Hope," Dannica answered quietly, turning her face against Hope's. "And I want you to be safe. When I took too much that one time, it really scared me. I don't want to lose you, and I'm afraid that Da is right."
"He probably is," Hope said, a note of concern in her words. "He's the one that would know, after all, right? I mean, if you're what they think you are, and you have to do whatever it is that you do, then it's not something we can just make go away."
"Yeah, but that means that I'd have to..." Dannice trailed off, not quite ready to say the words.
"You'd have to have sex with other people," Hope finished for her, giggling at Dannica's fierce blush. "Oh, come on. You've had feline sexuality just like I have. We were in the same class. You can say 'sex,' I know you can."
"Fine," Dannica said, flicking her ears half in annoyance and half in amusement. "I'd have to go have sex with other people."
"Does that bother you?" Hope asked.
"Well, yeah. It doesn't bother you?"
Hope chuckled and as close as Dannica was to her, she could feel her head shaking.
"Not really," she said. "Sex is something we do for fun, Danni. And for you it's what you do for food, I guess. But even if you go out and have an orgy with the football team, that's not going to change the fact that I love you. That has nothing to do with this," Hope reached down and slid a hand down between Dannica's waistband and her fur, tickling her mound with her fingertips, "and everything to do with this." Dannica felt her other hand sliding up beneath her shirt and pressing gently over her breast, right where the beating of her heart could be felt.
Dannica gasped softly, feeling her friend's fingers so close to where she really would have liked them, then she smiled and covered Hope's hand over her heart with her own hands. "Da said you'd surprise me," she said quietly.
"You really should learn to listen to him, Dannica," Hope said, the tone of her voice telling Dannica that she was holding back a giggle. "He knows what he's talking about."
Dannica smiled and wrapped Hope in her arms. She felt her friend's hand at her heart slide over her side and around her back, but the one under her pants didn't move at all. She felt Hope's warm breath against her face stutter with her laugh.
"Now that we've gotten that out of the way," she said, "I think I've had enough rest to be able to at least give you a morning snack before you go off hunting."
Dannica frowned and canted her head to the side in curiosity and Hope took full advantage of the opportunity to duck her head in between her shoulder and her chin and give the sensitive fur there a nibble while Dannica giggled.
"Hunting, huh?" she asked.
"Well, we've got to call it something, don't we?" Hope said, still chuckling.
Dannica felt another nip at the side of her neck and she gasped at the sudden arousal that came from that simple act. It was something new that Hope hadn't tried before and it was remarkably effective. Her fingers tightened in Hope's fur where she held her and she realized that Hope hadn't gotten dressed yet. She must have just woken up when Dannica had come into the room. It left her feeling overdressed, but the thought was soon pushed from her mind by the feeling of Hope's hand moving down her belly to her belt.
"You're getting too much practice with that," Dannica said as she felt Hope undoing the buckle.
"I can't help it," Hope answered, getting the buckle open and her belt free. "The incentive is just too good to keep practicing.
Dannica laughed as Hope slid her zipper down and lifted her hips, expecting her friend to slide her pants down, but Hope only giggled.
"Lay back, Danni," she said, pushing on Dannica's shoulder to rest her on her back.
Dannica followed the direction and Hope rolled with her a little ways, up onto her knees Dannica guessed by the way that the bed moved. One of Hope's hands caught Dannica's shirt and pulled it up, taking her bra with it until it was up and off her chest, bunched around her neck. With it out of the way, that hand snaked around Dannica's head and the next thing she felt was Hope's lips on hers. Together she parted her lips and kissed her friend deeply, their tongues playing against each other in a playful yet passionate kiss.
At the same time, Hope's other hand had a bit more slack to move and it did, her fingers sliding down Dannica's mound and up between her legs in the motion that she knew would get the most reaction from Dannica. Her fingers stroked gently against her, teasing the sensitive skin before she slid them between her lips and inside her. It didn't take any more than that to start the heat in Dannica's belly and the tigress growled with pleasure into Hope's mouth.
Hope growled right back and slid her fingers deeper in, curling them up before she started to work them inside. Dannica's hips rocked in reaction to the fingers inside her, pressing herself against Hope's palm and then pulling away while Hope stroked within. The kiss broke and Dannica let her head drift to the side with a quiet mewl as she felt Hope's lips kissing their way down her cheek.
"You're so warm, Danni," Hope whispered between kisses.
Hope's fingers entwined in her hair and she gave a gentle tug to the side, baring Dannica's neck once again so that she could kiss her way along right above her pulse point. Then she buried her face against Dannica's neck and took some of the loose skin almost at the back of her neck into her teeth and bit down firmly.
When Dannica felt the bite, she nearly exploded. Nothing in the world could make what Hope was doing feel any better, she thought, but her friend had found something that would heighten even that. The heat between her legs and in her belly spilled over in to the rest of her and all she could think about was the pleasure from Hope's fingers and the feeling of Hope's teeth on her neck. Her hands clutched desperately against the bedsheets and Hope curled her fingers up once again.
That was all Dannica needed. The heat exploded, cascading over her body, leaving her shuddering and shaking in its wake. She was sure that she would have woken the neighbors if she would have been able to find her voice to scream, and she'd probably have Duke up in the room banging down the door, but something about the way that Hope held her kept her from making a sound, and even that made her orgasm even more intense.
When she was sure she couldn't be taken any higher, Hope finally let go of her neck and Dannica mewled loudly, thrusting her hips a few last times before she finally came down, her hands relaxing on the sheets. Her ears were ringing and all she could hear was her heavy, panting breath, but slowly the sounds of the world came back to her and she felt Hope gently shaking her.
"Are you alright, Danni?" she asked.
Dannica nodded, catching her breath and she rolled over to wrap her arms around Hope, drawing her close.
"Gods, yes," Dannica whispered. "We're going to have to do that again."
"Later," Hope said, giggling. She slid her own hands around Dannica, bringing them up her spine to her shoulders and Dannica felt her pushing her gently down. "Right now, it's your turn."
Dannica smiled and took the hint, slipping down in the bed while she felt Hope's hands make their way up to her face and then into her hair. She planted a kiss against Hope's chest, finding the center to start, then kissed her way from the center to the very peak of one of her breasts, finding the peaked and hardened flesh atop it right where she always did. Her lips surrounded it and she gently drew it between them, sucking lightly while she flicked her tongue against it.
Hope's groan of pleasure was her reward and she did it again, and then again. As she kissed her way across to the other breast, she felt Hope rolling over onto her back and she followed to pay the same attention to the other side as she had the first. One hand supported her while she played her tongue against Hope's nipples, moving back and forth, while her other hand tickled and teased its way down Hope's belly.
It was always such a joy to Dannica to feel Hope's muscles working underneath her skin and her fur and she paused to splay her fingers out, taking in as much of her friend's belly as she could while her ministrations to Hope's breasts had her squirming and writhing beneath her fingers. The two of them had taken to working out together and Dannica couldn't be happier with the results she'd felt on her own. The benefits for her friend were clearly felt at times like this, though.
Slowly, she lifted a leg and straddled Hope's hips, letting her lips do the work that her fingers just were, brushing through Hope's fur, feeling solid bone and muscle giving way to softer curves and more pliant muscle. The soft fur of Hope's chest and the fur of her belly had the slightest different texture, something just barely felt against Dannica's nose and her whiskers as she kissed her way down Hope's belly. All the while, the scent of her friend was getting stronger and stronger. It was that scent that meant so much to Dannica, the scent of love and lust and fun and safety.
Before long, her nose pressed up right against the source of that scent and she took a deep, long breath of it, letting it fill her. Hope's work on her must have gone a long way to getting the Golden ready, because when Dannica's tongue slid between her folds, she found her wet and ready and even the slightest tease had Hope's fingers tightening in her hair.
She felt another heat rising inside her and as she nosed her muzzle up against her friend's clit, she breathed out and let the heat flow from her to Hope, feeling the responding wetness against her tongue as Hope breathed sharply in. Hope's body tightened under Dannica's paws and Dannica ran her fingers all along each and every curve and line of her body while she pressed her tongue inside. As she lapped between Hope's thighs, she let the otherworldly warmth flow between them, taking Hope higher than she would have been able to with merely her fingers and tongue.
Hope's breath came in panting gasps as Dannica continued, and Dannica started to feel a pressure against her mind. It wasn't anything that Hope was doing, but she could tell that it was coming from her. She realized that it was Hope's heat, the same one that built when Dannica's orgasm was approaching, only she could feel it in her friend's body as well. Smiling, she pushed it closer and closer until she felt like she couldn't breathe for the pleasure. Hope had long since stopped speaking in any sort of coherent language and was writhing on the bed, begging whimpers sounding through her lips when Dannica finally pushed a little more and let the pressure burst.
The feeling of opening returned and she took in all that Hope had to offer. This time, though, she fed a little of it back to Hope, pushing her further and harder, but still only sipping at the power that was returned almost tenfold. She kept the cycle going until she felt Hope's fur rising against her whiskers, almost crackling with the energy and then she opened wide and drank it all down, making sure to leave enough that she didn't drain her friend completely.
Finally it was done and she cut the loop, rolling over and away from Hope to break all the physical contact for the moment. She knew how tempting it was to keep things going if she could touch her friend, so in order to ensure they were both safe, she rolled out of reach, basking in the glow and the sated feeling that always came along with her feeding while Hope came down in a fit of giggles
"Whoever you choose to be your prey, love, they're going to be one lucky rabbit," Hope gasped.
Dannica felt the bed shaking with Hope's shuddering aftershocks and giddy laughter and she couldn't help but join in. She didn't yet want to think about going on the hunt for someone else, but the way that Hope had shown her to look at it was at least amusing, and there wasn't any reason she couldn't share in her friend's mirth.
"Don't say that," Dannica said, giggling. "I might just go after Raymond, that little rabbit with the cute voice in chemistry."
"You could do worse," Hope said after a moment's pause. She giggled some more and then finally rolled over and hugged Dannica tight.
"But you're never going to get anyone if it looks like you wet your pants," Hope said with a kiss to Dannica's cheek. "Come on, let's get you changed and me some actual clothes. I know just the place to take you for your first hunt."
