December 19th- 1943 Somewhere above Eastern Europe.
"He's on your tail, you picked one up" "I know i know, w-.. you got 4 bandits coming in fast, cut to the left i'll bank right." "Got it, who are these guys!?" "I don't know, but whoever they are they're good."
2 years earlier.
December 7th- 1941 Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
"Next in line. Private First Class. Johnson." the examiner calls out "Here sir." Johnson calls out, the last military exam to be taken. The hardest the army corp will do. This test would tell if those would go to the army corp, to the navy, or air corp.
"Step to the blue line son, and tell me what you see in front of you." The examiner says as the soldier starts calling out what he sees. In the other room, a young girl is taking a physical test, her examiner cleared her for the air corps. Her deployment to the front was soon, part of an elite crew. Seeing action from the beginning of world war 1 to the opening days of world war 2, the total air kills the crew had would have been measured to roughly 112 air kills. 40 of which never bailed out of their planes and pronounced dead, racking up the highest kill count in the entire air force.
"Ok miss. Your physical test is done, you are cleared for the air after meeting your C.O" the enlistment officer said as she nods and walks out a P-40 flying over as a truck pulls up to take new recruits to the airbase.
One hour later
"Ok, this is your stop miss, your C.O is waiting inside the hanger for a training exercise." the driver says as the girl looks to the hanger across and nods back to the driver "Ok, thanks for the help." Smiling the driver nods back before driving off as she starts walking to the hanger, inside are 2 P-40's, each painted a tiger striped camo, the lead one being completely black as a few people are standing near the planes, 1 shouting but the words are not understandable as a taller figure notices the girl and shouts clear as day "Tone it down, the new recruit is here. And try not to freak her out on her first day, or else you'll be mopping floors for a month." The hanger falls silent before the taller figure steps into the sunlight, and introduces himself "Welcome miss, i'm guessing you're our new recruit? Or am i wrong." The person says, nodding in response she salutes him and says "Lieutenant Alex at your service sir." laughing in response he says "No need for ranks here, welcome to your new home Alex." Alex smiles a little before questioning "So you-" she gets cut off by him finishing "Air division leader James O'Neil. And these are your squadron members." The group walks closer as James finishes and a younger male comes out of the group, smiling as he's talking to another squad member about something.
"This is Alex, how about you show some curiosity and tell her your names." The younger person steps out of the group saying "I'm going to check on the fighters sir, make sure everything is ready for the practi-" He gets cut off by an explosion as a japanese fighter flies over and everyone darts to their fighters and Alex says "Is this part of the test?" as James shouts, running to his fighter "If it is, i didn't get the memo, get to your fighter, it seems we just entered war." Darting to their fighters the crew enters each of their designated fighters, Alex has no idea where her's is and shouts "which one is mine!?" and the young boy calls out. "Behind mine!" As Alex starts up her engine everyone races out on the runway as bombers dive bomb the ships in harbor and James curses endlessly "they're fucking bombing the battleships. we need to take them out right now, before they cause anymore fucking damage." Everyone agrees as Alex goes out on the runway, her P-40 being heavily modified with 2 more 50cal machine guns and carries a 40mm cannon in the nose, launching off the runway the crew gets airborne as bombs crash into the runway moments after, leaving them thinking of how lucky they were as the squadron forms up and heads to battleship row "My god, look at all of them." One of the pilots says as hundreds of japanese planes swarm the ships. It was going to be a fierce battle to stop the attack.
