The Half Moon tribe 6.
#6 of The Half-Moon Tribe
Pain flared through my core. Someone was holding me by the headfur very uncomfortably! My muzzle opened, saliva linking my lower lip to my upper one, my throat croaking out in pain as someone held me like that. What made the position increasingly uncomfortable was not so much the grip on my headfur but the knee pushed into the small of my back. I could feel the hot breath of whomever had caught me, and somehow I managed to open a solitary eye. What shocked me so much was it was not some random cat, as I had been expecting, but Jeran, the Alpha-Scout wolf. Staring at him with one eye, the man looked very angry; the fur on his neck was bristling, his tail swishing in a wide arc, the fur also pushing away from the root and his teeth exposed. Scouts were usually quite mellow creatures -- this was not a side of the Alpha Scout I had ever seen first hand.
"SLAYN!" He yelled, right into my ear. His fingers gripped my headfur tighter, shaking me a bit. The position was uncomfortable enough, but the shaking made me fear for my neck. I knew I was in trouble. "What in the Nine Wolves were you doing SPYING on our Alpha? Especially with the cats here, of all times!"
"I...Well..." I began to say , but he shoved my face down hard. I yelped in pain as my nose and muzzle hit dusty, sunbleached stone. Lips had pulled down just enough to cover my teeth, preventing a terrible break. Still, I was sure I would have a mark in the morning. If a mark was all I had to walk away from this I would be happy.
"SHUT UP!" The man roared, pushing me even more into the stone. A scout was not that much bigger than a strider, but they had more muscle mass and knew techniques on fighting that my sect of people did not -- they were sometimes required to be on the front lines when the situation called for it and could more readily defend themselves. A long standing joke is that the only part of a strider you see on the battle field is his back side -- all he does is run away. "This is serious! I should drag you down to the temple square and reveal this to everyone! The alpha is busy with something important and you have the balls to actually lower your head down to peer into his window?!" Jeran sounded angry, really fuming. What was I going to do?
I was about to open my mouth to say something when I heard a third, new voice. My eyes, opening again tried to find the source. Finally, I saw someone. A man, big and tall, standing near the way up to the roof of the temple. I coudln't really make out much more other than he was a warrior by the expance of his shoulders, the height of his head and the deep, rich voice. "Hey! What's going on here!" He did not pose it as a question, more of an order.
I looked to Jeran, who sat up more, his back stretching enough to look at the figure more closely. I saw him growl again. "Begone! This is Council matter, not one for a warrior."
"This is a Half-Moon matter. Council members are not allowed to fight each other without the Alpha male himself watching and another unbias council member to sit and judge." The strength of the voice was impressive. I had not heard someone talk like that since...
"I do not need a lecture on Council protocol from some warrior. I will have your name so I can report this to Chance." What no one really knew was that Jeran was backing off. Only I could tell because I had debated him countless times in the council chambers. The tone of his voice was more than enough -- it was not edged so much with anger but caution. The grip on my headfur was not so firm and the knee pressing into my back was softer. Jeran was getting ready to flee.
"Avalon, former Beta-Warrior to the South Paw caern. I am a new warrior here invited by Arch and Chance personally. Now, let him go or I will remove you from this roof."
"If you lay a finger on me, warrior, you will be punished."
"And if you continue to fight someone who cannot defend themselves then I will use the Warrior Code and act as his Champion in these matters. All he has to do is evoke those words. If you prevent him from speaking I will assume the affirmative." The voice was growing deeper, richer much more angered. A warrior never backed down. Jeran was pushing the limits of the warrior's patience, which wasn't much to begin with. Warriors were terribly impulsive creatures but loyal to their caern. That's what made them the best foot soldiers; They would die without question for their leaders and their home.
I felt the knee press down firmer into my back. I squeaked out a yelp of pain and then felt...nothing. Jeran was off me. he rolled to my side quick enough to see the Scout land in a crouch, growling now as he looked between the two of us; One a strider who had ejaculated not five minutes ago and was naked, and some warrior who had come about to save the day amazingly.
"This isn't over, Slayn. Once the Alpha is done with the cats we will have an emergency council meeting to discuss your conduct." Jeran said coldly, and then looked to the warrior. "And we will discuss your actions and attitude to your superiors, warrior." Jeran stood up and lept down the side of the building, gone.
I laid there on my side for a few moments, and then rolled onto my back. The glowing disk in the sky beamed its rays down onto my tan pelt, warming the flesh below my fur. I was unconcerned with my nakedness in front of some random wolf, I was actually very calm. Emotions were not brimming over and right now I just stared into the blue sky with its sparce clouds. For the time being I was safe. Was Jeran going to really try and punish me for spying on Arch and Apollo?
"Are you okay?" That voice again. This time, however, there was no harsh tone, no commanding presence to get his way. There was only the velvety tone of someone who seemed honestly concerned.
My eyes shifted just enough time for the warrior to block the sun from my eyes, casting his body in an inky silouette and hiding his features. I saw the shoulder move, then an arm. His hand was down to me. Surprisingly, my hand went up and took his. The large hand closed around mine with a firm grip but nothing close to the potential strength that it could produce. With a gentle tug I found myself lifted off the stone. Mid-way up the warrior's other hand had found the small of my back, using it as a leverage point to help me onto my feet. The grip on my hand vanished but the hand on my back had not.
"Yeah," I said gently, looking to the sky again. "I'm fine."
"You look dazed. Let me look into your eyes." Again, that hand touched my body. The fingers gently held my muzzle and tilted it to look at the warrior's face. What I saw was not what I had expected.
Most wolves in Arch's caern have plain fur. Arch is all black, Reyna is white with a grey back, and I'm a solid tan. The man, Avalon as he had called himself, was a color I had never seen before. His chest and muzzle were a solid, pure white. I could only assume the rest of his torso and inner legs were white as well. The outer coloring of his pelt was a rich, dark red, the color of rust but more intense. His head, handsome to a fault with those amber eyes, was adorned by a bandana on his skull with the tie backwards. He had managed to tie it in some way that his ears managed to poke out of two little slits. His forearms were also clad in leather bracers, seeming to be equally a fashion statement as well as functional for a minor guard. His body was also something to admire. While not as tall as Arch, he was close. His body was that of a warriors -- honed muscles with wide shoulders. His pectoral muscles were perfectly perportional and his stomach was defined. This kind of body that came from actual hard work and not the unending training of the warrior's enclave.
We looked into each other's eyes for a few moments, and then the hand left my muzzle. Avalon smiled. "Ah, you are fine. I was worried he had injured your head in some way. Your pupils react fine to the sunlight. But, perhaps, you should rest?"
"I guess...I guess I should." I found myself saying. My eyes were heavy all of a sudden. The adrenaline was leaving my system and lowering the bodily reaction to potential danger. Avalon was also a warrior, a bigger wolf, who was protecting me. Instincts told me I could relax around him when I knew I probably should not. I felt my knees begin to quiver. I took three steps away from Avalon, and the last thing I remember was falling. I saw the edge of the temple looming at me, the square below...and finally blackness..
When my eyes opened again I was somewhere familiar, and obviously not dead. The light was not as intense as it had been on the temple roof and the smells were all scents I knew. I lifted my head and peered around. I was back in my tents. I was on my bed, too. The sun was still out as I could tell from the hue of the thick leather that was my walls. Probably around twilight, if not a little before. No one was moving about outside, which was not that uncommon either. I felt my back cry out in pain as I sat up. I was going to be sore tomorrow for sure.
I was about to roll out of my bed when I realized I was not alone. I quickly glanced to the side and down, only to spot Avalon there in my bed, an arm around my waist. Shock flooded my system. Had I slept with this man?! If so, I did not remember. But...then I remembered the scents in the room. I could not smell any seed and my body did not ache in the ways it usually did after sleeping with someone.
Avalon was on his front, sleeping soundly. He was naked, save for the dark red bandanna he wore on his head still. I could see his bracers and warriors loincloth resting on one of my tables. Most people not of the caern would have balked at this, two people who barely knew each other sharing a bedroom with nothing on their bodies. For the caern this was natural. We are wolves, after all. Laying together and sharing a bed is common from pup hood to adulthood, though it is usually reserved for your mate once you reach a certain age.
I just lowered myself back down to the bed and laid flat, sighing quietly. When was the last time I had someone stay in my bed long enough to actually sleep with? Arch never... the woman whom I had sired a child upon was forbidden to see me, and all my past attempts at love had ended in nothing more than recreational exchange of bodily fluids. I shook my head, dispelling the sad thoughts and pressed closer to Avalon. Avalon, still in his sleep, knew what to do. What I needed. His arm shifted from my waist, curling up to over my far shoulder. He lifted his torso and leg up, curling one of those powerful limbs over my own legs. Avalon continued to shift his weight until he was laying ontop of me, pressing his powerful chest comfortably onto my back.
I could feel Avalon's maleness. His hot sheath was pressed into my thigh, as were his testicles. Again, this was common of people who simply shared a bed and did not really have sex; the reproductive organs were part of both the male and female body and could easily get the way. Still, feeling someone like that sent a shiver down my body. I murred quietly as I found Avalon's ear pressing into my own.
"Sleep well, little wolf?" His voice said gently, groggily as he began to wake up.
"AH.. yeah." I managed to say, blushing still as Avalon just pressed more against me, holding me. The sensation of being protected, being safe, it was all very relaxing. "Why did you decide to join me?"
"Ah," The big wolf said with a soft laugh, nuzzling into my neck and breathing against my throat. "Arch invited me to meet all his Alpha leaders, and I heard from a strider you had gone to the roof. When I came up I saw the two of you... I knew that was wrong. And I couldn't leave you there when you fainted. Your beta male let me know where your tent was... and I didn't want to leave you alone. You looked fragile." He said softly into my ear again. "Does it bother you that I'm naked?"
I flushed at the question, and thought about it. "It has...been years since I shared a bed with someone long enough to feel their embrace outside of sex. It feels like the first times sharing a bed since puberty with another... the awkwardness is there, but the comfort of your embrace is...something I really enjoy right now."
"As fun as it would be," he began, still speaking into my ear. "I would not ruin the moment and drain your remaining energy by mating wtih you right here and now. I have to prove myself to you, first, little wolf."
"Prove yourself?" I said, but then there was a ringing bell somewhere in my tent.
The bell signalled someone was at my door. It was hard to knock or scratch on leather flaps. I heard a voice, some random strider whom I wasn't terribly familiar with. "Alpha Strider, Warrior Avalon, you are both summoned to the council chamber immedidately."
"I'll...we'll, be there in a moment." I managed to say with a blush.
"C'mon little wolf," Avalon said as he sat up, grabbing his loincloth from the table and standing. he tied it around his waist and then began to put on the leather bracers and anklets he wore, securing them finely with a few tugs of the leather thongs that kept them close. "I'll tell the council everything I saw."
"Sure..." I managed to say as I went to my closet, opening up the cabinets and pulling out a fresh blue loincloth. I slipped it on as well as a matching vest and sighed. "This is going to be bad."
"Bad?" Avalon asked, walking up behind me and putting his hand on my shoulder. I sighed with a relaxed breath. Avalon seemed to make me feel so much better. When was the last time I felt this comfortable around someone?
"Well...you'll see." I said, smiling over my shoulder. I exited the tent and headed to the council chambers, knowing full well something drastic was about to happen.
Two hours later and everyone was arguing. Everyone being Arch, Chance, Jeran, Reyna, and myself. We all had subordinates; for Reyna she had brought her second, Renin, the young boy who was known to be adept at all kinds of magic. Chance was flanked by his beta-warrior who also happened to be his wife, the beautiful and deadly Lieah. Jeran had brought his own second, a woman by the name of Cull. I'd only ever met her twice, and she was very skilled with blades, almost as good as I was with knives and short daggers. Chance had also brought Avalon, who was more there to give testimony to the whole situation. I had Ranz, my own second. The Betas were all behaving and being quiet, listening to their superiors argue. Arch was, as always, sitting on his stone chair, arms crossed over his powerful frame and listening.
"I don't CARE what the rules say, Slayn was SPYING on our Alpha male for no reason what so ever other than to get some kind of perverse sexual thrill out of it!"
"No one is disputing that, Jeran." Reyna said, tilting her head toward the Scout. I watched her hair ruffle a bit as she flexed her own clout. She was the oldest one here, having watched Arch, Chance, and myself as Pups. We all respected her. "However, what we are disputing is your claims that Slayn should be punished severely."
"Why even punish him?" Avalon had said, tilting his head and speaking up. "He couldn't have known what he saw, which was the Alpha-male having sexual relations with Apollo Swiftpaw."
"BE QUIET!" Jeran shouted, slamming his hands on the stone table. "You are noone in this council, your time to address us has ended. You are dismissed!"
"Excuse me?" Chance said, growling and sitting up more in his seat. "Did I hear you correctly, Jeran? Ordering one of my men out of the room."
Jeran looked phased, and then huffed. He shot me a glance and then looked back to Chance. "My apologies, Alpha-Warrior. But he has spoken out of turn."
"There have also been no limitations on who may or may not speak at this meeting, Jeran." Reyna reminded him. She seemed to relish in the fact that the Scout was not winning as easily as he had hoped.
There was a long silence in the room. I hadn't really said anything in the whole time I had been present but I wanted to speak. Wanted to speak terribly. But what was I to say? I was sorry? I didn't know.
"I put to order that Slayn have his rank and title removed, and reduced to the lowest strider of his rank." Jeran said, sitting back down in his chair with a smirk crossing his face.
"We can't do that." Chance said.
"Why not?" Renin asked. The first time speaking up.
"Oh, boy," Reyna said, turning to her subordinate. "What is the job of the mages, lad?"
"To...keep the knowledge and the magic of our caern," Renin said.
"That's right. And what do you know of Slayn?"
Renin seemed to be lost in thought for a moment, then it made him realize. "He has done something no other living or dead wolf has. He's the fastest and the best asset to the caern."
"That is correct, lad. If we remove Slayn from his position and charge him to be at the bottom rung he will never have the honor required to carry those scrolls that his speed requires. Reducing him any and giving these important missions to him would insult Ranz, who would take his position if we removed Slayn."
"I don't want the job anyway. Slayn is one of the best striders ever!"
"Be that as it may," Chance's beta said, her palms touching the cold stone of the table. "His actions do need to be addressed. His intentions may not have been evil or cruel, but he did spy on the Alpha."
"He didn't intend to see anything like what he saw though!" Avalon protested, looking across Chance's body and looking right at the male's wife.
"He still did, and spying is still looked down upon here in the Half-Moon. There needs to be something done." She said, concluding.
"Let us move for a resolution to acknowledge some kind of punishment has to be carried out." Chance said, looking calm and collected as he always did. In all my years on the council, reading Chance was impossible. I could never figure out his buttons. He was a smart man though, and Arch trusted him implicitly.
"The Scouts vote in favor of this resolution." Jeran spoke.
"The Mages agree that some level of punishment should be carried out."
"The warriors also agree." Chance's wife said. Speaking for her husband in this matter since Chance had proposed the motion.
"The striders abstain from voting, for obvious reasons." Ranz answered for me. I just sat there, glaring at the table. I couldn't really do much with my position, so I was letting everyone talk about it.
"Fine," Arch finally said, standing up. "Slayn...You have left me in a really bad situation." Arch moved from his chair, walking to the windows and looking down at the grounds where the cats were still gathered. He spoke again. "You're my friend and Alpha-Strider, but you broke the rules. Now I'm left with two choices. One, I can punish you and make our social structure look weak to the leopards. The other option is to do little and let the wolves see they can bend the rules." Arch sounded angry. I just flattened my ears and looked down at the table.
"Alpha," Reyna said, motioning to me. "He has not done a lot. He looked into your window. Did you not do the same thing at least once in your life. If I remember there was that time--"
"Enough, Reyna!" Arch spun on the grinning old woman. He growled, then looked to me. I sat up straighter then and just gulped. "Slayn, what do you think I should do to you?"
I was stunned. Picking my own punishment? It was not that cut and dry, and everyone here knew it. "Whatever you decide will be more than fair, Alpha."
"Good answer, but not quite what I was looking for." Arch rubbed the top of his forehead and then sighed. "I need time to think this over. For now, however, you are restricted from leaving the caern. Any long runs are to be passed to your subordinates. No honor will be won for you this day, Slayn."
"This isn't fair!" Jeran said, standing up. His hands were curled into the stone, holding it firmly. "He broke the rules!"
"FINE!" Arch said, turning to Jeran. "You want to be literal? You are personally Apollo's attendant tonight at the banquet. If he wishes you naked you will comply!" Arch then turned to me, and looked at Avalon. "You saved him from potentially being wounded, so I will have you be his bodyguard during this event. If he attempts to sneak a peek at my private affairs you may wound him, but do not kill him. Slayn will follow your orders until the cats leave. You are to keep Slayn out of trouble."
Stunned. I was going to be watched by Avalon? That wasn't bad. I was also getting something of a vacation. However, Arch did leave the door open to potentially new levels of punishment. He was going to discuss this later. Everyone stood up, bowed their heads to Arch as he left, and began to file out. I remained seated as the doors closed.
Avalon was still in the chambers.
"That...went well, I thought." The warrior said, smiling and moving over to my section of the rounded stone table. "He could have asked for a lot worse."
"No, but I dissapointed him. That's what's bad about this. He doesn't trust me and is letting it show by you having to watch me." I said with a sigh, leaning back in my chair, palms touching my face. I was going to have to work hard at making this up to Arch. Sadly, I just did not have a single thought on how to do that.
I was about to lay my head down on the table when two large hands grabbed my waist and lifted me up. I yelped and blinked as I was turned, seated down on the table with my feet dangling off the edge. Avalon stood there, smiling down at me with a warm smile. "Everyone says you two are friends. If he is truely your friend then all will be forgiven with time. Don't try to fix it right now."
"I know I--" I was cut off.
Avalon's muzzle was right in front of mine. He was smiling, his voice speaking gently. "Please, Slayn. Dwelling on the past and the future...you will never live in the moment, where time is the most precious. Just...stop worrying so much." He said quietly, and gently edged his muzzle forward. I blinked as those soft tiered lips blushed my own.
"A...Avalon." I said quietly, still shocked.
In caern culture, kissing is very different. To kiss someone, especially in the way Avalon was kissing me, meant one thing. He was interested in me. Not in the way that he wanted simple pleasure, which we wolves are far more frequent to just asking and agreeing. What Avalon was saying was he wished to try and court me. To try and have more.
I was speechless, finding those lips against my own. Softly the pressure build and Avalon's black tiers pressed more firmly against my own, sealing us together. As his tongue slid up into my maw my hands raised, pressing fingers against that chest, the hard iron muscle of his torso.
The kiss lasted until my lungs burned. When the union broke I gasped for air, my small chest heaving softly up and down, chest contracting and relaxing as I looked at Avalon. He was smiling.
"Your body.. it reacts as if it was a virgin...are you...?"
"No! No no... just not as active as most others, I suppose."
Avalon merely shrugged his shoulders and pushed his muzzle against my throat, licking along the line of my collarbone. I shuddered in bliss, toes curling into the air as I tried not to make a sweet sound. My hands came up, touching Avalon's head as his muzzle moved down my slender, lean torso. I could feel the hot licks brush down my smaller pectoral muscles, over my stomach, wetting down my fur and teasing the sensitive flesh underneath.
"Ah..Ava...Avalon. This isn't the best place for..."
I didn't really get to finish, his teeth had found the waistband of my loincloth and pulled on it. I blinked and watched as the knots came undone with ease. He tossed the cloth to the floor, revealing just how aroused I was. I couldn't believe it myself but just from the simple kiss and the short licks own my torso, I had a full erection. I was also beat red, which showed throuugh my fur like a hot beacon.
"Just let me get into position and I'll--!" I shot of pleasure coursed through my senses as lips closed around my erection. My back went rigid and my hands gripped the stone table with strength I did not expect of myself. I held back a moan of pleasure, and just went with the sensation of surprise. A warrior had never done this for me, or any strider as far as I was aware. Sex among the caste was normal, a strider would do this for another, but when they crossed, a strider was always the submissive one. So why was Avalon pleasuring me with his lips?
Due to our size difference there was plenty of room for anything Avalon wanted to do with his muzzle, enough that my senses flared again as those lips and tongue hit my knot. Hell, Avalon even TOOK my knot into his muzzle, and I could feel no throat around the pointed head of my erection. This was something I had never dreamed to experience, or thought I would. There were always the snide jokes but never did this happen.
My hands were touching Avalon's head, gripping the fur on his skull through his bandanna, tugging on it firmly.. Somehow I had managed to tug it off, holding the cloth in my hands as I rubbed the back of his ears, scritching through the fur to the flesh. I was making soft, pleasured little sounds of lust as Avalon worked his abilities.
The warrior knew what he was doing, and I knew nothing. I was not used to being on this end. Not many gave me direct and solitary pleasure. With a squeeze of Avalon's lips around the base of my knot, I felt a rush of pleasure unlike any other pour through my body. With a jolt I ejaculated; my semen spraying out of my body, right into the waiting muzzle of someone whom I knew barely, but was beginning to like a lot. I moaned again and fell back onto the table as Avalon worked his lips up and down along my crimson flesh, drawing out every drop of my essence. Finally, he was done.
I looked down along my body to the big wolf who was slurping off my wet erection, watching it smack against my stomach firmly. The warrior smirked and laid his head on my thigh. "So, Slayn, can I be your date for the banquet tonight?"
"Avalon I--"
There was a knock at the door. And it sounded like Jeran.
