Ch11. Lesson Five. Defining the Roles.
#11 of Home of the Pioneers
Herd structure starts to take place. Aden is starting to step up. And....more from Dex's past.
I sat in the cafeteria. I'd gotten dropped off early. My Mom had told me she was very proud of my behavior the last several weeks. From now on, if I wanted to, I could go to school early, or leave a little late, but I couldn't deviate from my course.
What do you think I did, I readily agreed!
I'd noticed Andrew and Jake sitting in here this morning. It was still raining a bit today. It was a long slow drizzle. Not one to encourage people to go outside, that's for sure. I'd sat down and made small chat with them for a while.
"What do you think, Dex, should I ask her out again?" Andrew was giving me kind of a sheepish grin.
"No dude, I'd leave it for now. She obviously isn't interested."
"Fuck!"
I chuckled. "So? What's wrong?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. I couldn't help notice that he was much more muscular than Aden was. He was a linebacker after all. So was Jake. I'd learned that in reality there were distantly related. Some type of distant cousins in fact.
"Well that just leaves Tracy..."
I glared at him.
"What about Amanda?"
His eyes widened. He looked over at the human girl. She was very stunningly beautiful. Her own blond hair and blue eyes gave her that classic All American look.
"Um....I dunno....she's nice and all, but.....human."
I stared at him hard for a second.
"Sorry."
He ducked his head.
"Listen Andrew, there aren't enough equines for everyone here at school. You have to face the fact that either you date someone else, or date someone not at this school."
He looked uncertain. I could see Jake smirk.
Boy does Jake ever do anything much? He's always radiating boredom.
"Well....."
Andrew stopped. I saw his eyes widen. "Fucking hell!"
I turned. It was Aden. He'd followed my instructions to a T. He was walking in calmly, trying to ignore any stares or laughter.
He wore his jeans. I'd always noticed that almost every pair he had were tight. It didn't dawn on me how tight until now.
The poor guy was at "half mast" and it snaked down his left leg. The cloth bunched up around it. You could clearly see the outlines of his flare as he walked. You could also see the very large balls he sported bellow them. Normally his jock or underwear allowed everything to be in one tight bluge.
He had three now.
Aden still had the bridal on.
"Hey Dex, Andrew."
He nodded.
Andrew tore his eyes up to Aden's face smiling.
"Hey stud."
Aden shook his mane.
"Stop it."
"Why? You definitely aren't hiding it anymore." Andrew leaned back. He had a relaxed equine grin on his face.
Aden sat down, winced, adjusted himself, and then resumed his seat next to me.
"What brought this on?" For once Jake's ears perked up. He was paying very close attention.
Interesting.
**
Dex was looking at me, his face and expression unreadable.
I sighed.
"Felt like it as all. It's kind of liberating."
Andrew cocked a smirk.
"And it'll get Tracy's attention."
I shrugged and stretched.
Ow. My chest, STILL hurts.
I turned my head lazily to Dex.
"So how was homework last night."
**
We all made small talk through the hour before class, then headed to English. I tried not to stare too hard at Aden's crotch. Notice I said tried. He got a lot of stares. One of the other human girls slipped him a note. He smiled, nodded, and dropped it in the trash on our way past a trash can. Finally Andrew split off.
I took my seat as usual in the back. Bruce sat there. I saw the poor bulls eyes boggle as Aden walked in. The bovine's eyes were glued on Aden's package. I was starting to get a glimmer as to what was going on with the bull.
Great, another complication.
Soon class started, and our attention was turned elsewhere.
**
Lunch got interesting. I'd stayed up most of the night reading that book he gave me. It really gave me a lot to think about. I know, we're not full equines. We have a slightly different herd structure but the concepts are the same for the most part.
By the time I was getting dressed this morning I had an inkling as to what my role was going to have to be. The traditional words for it, well, no I'm not saying that here. Not until I accept it. Doesn't mean I can't take on the role and see how it works though.
I sat down next to Dex. He gave me an interesting look, one I wasn't too familiar with in humans. I put my arm around his shoulder and told him a joke. He laughed hugely at it. I ignored the stares at my crotch.
For one second I felt a smattering of pride come in. They're just jealous
I shook my mane.
Stop it colt, not yet.
I began eating my food. I had to get up to toss a container away. I made certain to stride over to Jake and Andrew. I'd given them both hearty pats on the back, and told the same joke I'd told Dex. Both laughed. Jake as always looked board.
When I sat back down, I knew this was going to be tough.
I'm Bi. Sue me. I still like girls plenty. What I don't like is being hounded.
Tracy sat down right next to me. She rubbed my shoulder. It was all I could do to ignore her.
"Hey Aden, how were classes this morning."
I snorted blowing through my nose.
"Eh, you know."
"Nice pants by the way."
She arched her neck coyly at me and blinked heavily.
"Exactly the same as the ones I had on yesterday."
I felt the hand rest on my thigh.
I turned abruptly and snapped my teeth at her in a sign of aggression.
It took her entirely by surprise.
She quickly scooted a few lengths down.
I glared at her.
Fuck this is hard.
**
Ok, like I said I am bi. Pretty much, and girls are still attractive, but well, not Tracy. At least not right now. Before, well, maybe. Now? Well things are changing. We'll see.
**
I glared as she scooted away. I turned and made some small talk to Dex. I could see the smirk on his face.
**
PE went well. Not much happened. It was still raining, but not heavily enough to deter Mr. Wilke from making us run in the rain. By the time I was done I was soaked. Aden's fur was beaded with water as well, and sweat. I could smell it from here.
We all crowded into the gym and played our game.
The coach yelled as we were getting ready to play.
"For those of you who enjoy basketball" He glared at Aden. Aden looked sheepish. "This is our last day. We're rotating out to a new sport next. Enjoy this one. For the others, well, I guess rejoice."
He blew his whistle.
**
I stepped into the blessedly warm shower. The water cascaded down my back. I took a huge glob of shampoo and rubbed it briskly into my name. I tried to ignore the bridal, but it was hard not to. I scratched under the areas where it rubbed on my nares.
I heard Dex's soft human foot falls as he took his place in his shower. I'd sent him a text before I'd gotten in here. "Talk...spot?"
I watched the smaller human lather himself up. I tried not to stare, but it was hard. His body was so very well toned. Some people talk about having a runner or swimmers body. A lot of people think that means very lean and skinny.
No. It means well muscled, defined, and not bulky. That was Dex. He was very hot standing there as he showered. The light shone off of his silky skin and blond hair. He caught me staring. He smirked, mirth in his blue eyes. He nodded once.
Ok, he got the text.
I tried to ignore the sexy human as I continued to shower. My hardon was raging. It leaked precum badly. I turned the water to cold. I sighed. I hated cold showers.....
**
There was a knock at the gate. God I hate rain, even drizzle.
"Come in."
Aden stood there. The bridal was getting a little careworn from the constant use. I'd have to oil it up and give it a good leather treatment soon, and polish up the silver. His t-shirt clung to his body. I could see his abs perfectly as well as his chest, the two human-like nipples standing in relief against his pecs.
His package was clearly visible in his jeans.
Easy Dex.
The equine closed the gate and looked at me. This was not a time for training through. "What is it?"
Aden came over and sat on the bench. "I read your book. I also talked to my father."
The poor colt looked uncomfortable.
"And?"
I raised an eyebrow keeping my face neutral.
He took a big breath. "I yelled at him. He asked me about the bridal again, and I kind of snapped. I told him it was his fault I'm an asshole. I told him that I was wearing this because of his inaction and a friend of mine is helping me. He also agreed it was his fault, and I snapped at him and told him 'damned right."
Aden stood and walked a few steps away. He went to pull his t-shirt off.
Quickly I stood up and walked over. I gave him a hug.
"That must have been hard."
The equine turned quickly.
"You....you aren't mad?" He looked confused.
I laughed. "Why? It was the truth. It was probably more than time for you to admit those things to your father. You also recognized you may have gone a bit too far with the damned right comment and told me."
"Sit back down."
Aden looked relieved. He took a seat on the bench. I kept standing. "What else?"
"Well I read your book. I was up almost all night, but I think....I think I know what my role is." He shook his mane. Water shook off of him. He licked his lips for a moment before looking me directly in the face.
"I've been calling herd-leader for a while, and there is no doubt that you are....in traditional horse society..."
I nodded. "Go ahead, you can say it."
He looked pained.
"In horse society you've been he lead mare."
I laughed. It was true. In the real horse herds the lead mare is the one who takes care of the heard. She's the real leader. The stallion? He's the protector. He's the one that looks out for danger, and fights. It takes a strong mare to be in charge.
"I prefer heard-leader but whatever."
He shook his head. "In equine fur society that's the term we use, but I read that in reality you're sort of trying to take on both traditional roles."
I nodded. "Thats true. There is no structure like I said. I can't do everything and I do need your help."
**
I thought Dex was going to be mad, but he wasn't. I realized I wasn't as educated as I thought on the heirarchy of normal non fur equines as I thought. It didn't mean he was any less of a man for taking the "mare" role, but now I knew why he needed my help. There is a duality to the lead roles. One is protector and the other looks for outside threats. I knew what my role had to be.
**
Ok. I'm turned on again. I hate to admit it, but I am. Ashamedly so. I can feel my traitor cock swelling with the thought. I haven't cum in two days. Do you know how hard that is on an equine fur? Fuck me. Literally....PLEASE!
**
"I also realized that your role shouldn't be the mare. It should be the stallion." I sighed. I felt my ears twitch as I admitted that.
"You are the one looking for the threats, trying to control the herd is not your thing. You're not going to be able to handle Jake or Andrew if they try anything physical. I can do that. You, you need to be our protector and watch our for our well being."
I had been looking at my folded hands. I was trying to hide my hardon.Fuck these pants are tight.
I felt the hand on my shoulder and looked into his eyes.
He nodded.
"It doesn't make you any less of a colt you know...."
I nodded back smiling. I know that in human terms I was blushing but it was hard to see under my dark skin and fur.
"Eh....it's ok, I don't mind being your mare."
Dex laughed hugely at that.
We chuckled for a second.
His phone rang.
His face went slack.
**
My heart stopped when I heard the phone ring. No one ever called me. Our family are the texting type. It rang a second time. I swallowed hard. I could not hide the fear that came to my face.
"Are you going to answer that?"
I shook my head.
"Dex? Dex? What is it Dex?"
I heard the beep indicating I had a voicemail.
Almost in a daze I picked it up. I put the phone to my ear.....
"Hey Dex, it's me Rake. Glad things are going well for you. I'd like to chat with you about a few things. Oh and, ah by the way, very nice...."
I heard the phone put up to what must be some type of recording device and heard a very loud equine scream come from the phone speaker.
**
I watched Dex as he listened to the message. His face was strange to read. It wasn't like he was going to cry, but he looked strange. I wondered why for a second. Then I heard it. I have wonderful hearing by the way.
I heard my own equine scream of joy from the other day.
Fear gripped my heart. I grew very panicky. I wanted to bolt from here and hide under my bed for ever.
"Oh....fuck me....."
