Commissioned by FA: Sanmer to continue the "Denem" storyline of things, we have this little thing of the church checking in on the degeneracy of this place, and ending up joining it instead.

The Inquisition of Denem for Sanmer by Draconicon

Ursus adjusted the mace at his belt as he walked through the gates of Denem. The signs of corruption were rampant from his first glimpse of the place. Wolves walked about in tantalizing clothing, offering both citizens and visiting merchants good times. The bear snorted at the sight of a woman removing her top for a merchant to view her 'wares', and he nearly spat on the ground at one of the men walking up to him.

"Get away from me."

"Oh, but you won't regret it, sir. I'm quite cheap, and I know all the good -"

"I said, away!"

He shoved the wolf male out of his way, shaking his head as he walked down the streets. It was a shambles, and he wasn't sure that there was any way to save the citizens here without a full spiritual cleansing. The church would hate to hear it, but it would have to happen if they didn't want to sacrifice the entire town.

Sir Fenris had better have a good explanation for this, the inquisitor bear thought as he walked towards the center of the town. A damn good one, or his head's on the platter as much as that Mayor Leo.

"What do you mean, the nagas are here?!"

The bear slammed his cup down on the table at the wolf's explanation for everything that was going on, his eyes narrowing at the paladin.

"The nagas are a menace to everything that we stand for. While we preach truth, they practice nothing but deceit. If you've let them come here, then they will have corrupted half the town beyond repair. It may be beyond saving now! What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Mister Ursus -"

"And you, Mayor. You should have done your duty and kept them out. What were you elected for? To protect the town, or hand it over?"

"I was merely following the advice of my paladin protector, Mister Ursus."

The bear whipped his head back to the wolf, who was leaning back far too casually for his liking. Ursus' grip tightened around his cup, shaking his head.

"I don't know what has come over you, Sir Fenris. I remember you as a man of honor, and a man dedicated to the power of the church. For that, I have tried to view this matter without judgment, but it is clear that you've lost your mind."

The bear looked between them.

"Tomorrow, I send a message to the church. Denem will be Cleansed."

Both the lion and the wolf sat up, finally taking the matter seriously, it seemed. But it was too late. The fact that they had given up so much to the nagas made them suspect as well. He had to bring the town to the church while there was a matter of a few citizens still able to be saved. He started to turn -

"Inquisitor."

The wolf's tone slowly made him turn around.

"Yes, Sir Fenris?"

The wolf lifted his glass.

"A toast. One last time. To doing what we must."

Hesitantly, the bear reached down to his cup and lifted it. He nodded, gesturing towards the wolf.

"To doing what we must."

He chugged a large mouthful, and set the cup down. The bear turned around to make his way to the door, when suddenly the world spun. Ursus stumbled, clinging to the back of his chair as he pressed his hand to his head, groaning.

"What..."

He tried to take a step, but immediately stumbled again, falling to one knee. Turning around was impossible; the slightest movement of his head nearly sent him spinning to the floor. As he tried to get to his feet, he slipped and landed on all fours. The footsteps of the other two coming to him, however, were less reassuring than he'd hoped.

As the world continued to spin around him, he looked up at Sir Fenris.

"You've...poisoned me..."

"No, just drugged you. My true king will wish to talk to you."

"The...Naga King..."

The wolf's nod was a sentence of damnation passed in a single motion, and the bear collapsed to the ground, the light fading as he slipped into oblivion.

When he woke, his armor was gone, as was his weapon. The bear was stripped to nothing, his hands bound behind his back to his tied-up ankles. He was completely helpless, and as he blinked his eyes in the torchlight, he immediately realized that the naga king was coiled up before him, on the very meeting table he'd just been sitting at. The king smiled.

"Welcome to the world of the waking, Inquisssssitor."

"What are you doing here? Let me go! I'll fight you, snake!"

"Ssssssnake I may be, but I am sssssmart enough to refusssssse your offer."

The king slithered off of the table, and Ursus realized that there were other sounds in the room. Lewd sounds that he had heard in the barracks of soldiers not of the church. The bear whipped his head around, and looked away quickly as he saw the mayor and his former paladin brother sucking on each other's manhoods. It was disgusting.

As he turned back, the snake was before him, and with his arms bound, Ursus could do nothing as the coils of the naga slipped around him. He sucked in a deep breath, forcing himself to expand as the snake wrapped around him, and he held it tight. His thick body could take whatever the naga had planned for him.

Loop after loop of coils wrapped about him, and the scales rubbing against his body felt disturbingly sensual. The Inquisitor shook his head as the snake leaned near to him, keeping his lips closed so he wouldn't lose precious air. The naga king, however, only chuckled.

"Do you think I plan to kill you, Inquisssitor?"

Ursus just glared.

"I could, you know. Killing a bear isssssn't sssso difficult. A ssssqueeze here...a sssstranglehold around their neck...and they fall assss easssily as otherssss. But you...you are much more valuable alive."

The naga had him wrapped in rasping coils from the neck down now, and the bear couldn't have moved his limbs if he had been free. He continued to glare, even as the coils tightened around him. He would not be broken; no matter what the naga king wanted, he wouldn't get it.

The naga had looped tighter around him, and the first bit of his air was pushed out of his lungs, and as it puffed out, he caught sight of a glint of light from the king's eye. It was strange, almost like the gems in the center of the church. It held the eye, making one want to look more...and just like in the church, he had no idea why, but he looked deeper.

He knew that it was a mistake, but as soon as he locked eyes with the snake, he couldn't look away. Ursus stared into those deep, powerful orbs, and felt himself being drawn forward. His mouth slipped open, and the next squeeze emptied his lungs of air as the king chuckled.

"You will lose yourself to me, Ursus. There is no power greater than the eyes of the Naga King, and you will fall to them like everyone else. But you...you, I believe, will be more useful than the paladin and the mayor have been. You will be my agent.

"From now on, you will work to get officials sent here. Rotate them through the lists, one by one arriving in Denem for me to meet. It will not matter to you why; perhaps you will cycle them down to fight the corruption. Perhaps you need an expert's opinion on what is happening with the trade. Whatever the reason, you will bring them to me, and you will help me convert the church, one by one, to the proper worship of what is worthy of it. Do you know what that is?"

Ursus shook his head slightly, but could not take his eyes off of the naga's.

"It's me. Me and my people. Compared to your gods, there is so much more we can offer. So much power, so much perfection. There is nothing that is wrong with the naga, nothing that is wrong with my people that cannot be fixed. Whereas there is so much wrong with you. Weak, scale-less creatures. You must rely on armor, on weapons, where we have scales and fang to keep our enemies at bay.

"And best of all, you are ruled...by me."

Ursus shuddered at the words, trying to hold back, but the words were making more and more sense, particularly to his oxygen deprived brain. He was gasping desperately for air, but with each successive sentence from the king's mouth, there was less to be had as the coils got tighter and tighter. He could barely get a gasp of air now, less than enough to barely inflate his lungs, and the eyes were burning brighter all the time.

Why...what was wrong with the nagas? Nothing, according to the king, but...there was something...wasn't there?

Ursus couldn't remember. He could only stare, only listen as the king gave his instructions, and slowly, he found himself nodding at them, understanding and giving in. With each successive nod, he got a little bit more room in the coils, until finally he was able to breathe normally again.

The king slithered off of him, and Ursus found himself staring at the naga's cock. The bear slowly looked past it, looking up into the king's eyes once more for some sort of clarification for his tired mind.

"You are my servant, Ursus. You will serve me. Do you understand?"

The bear nodded.

"Do you renounce the church, in favor of your new god?"

He nodded again.

"Then take my cock into your mouth, and service your new lord in the way that he deserves."

The naga king's orders could not be denied, and Ursus leaned forward. There was the slightest of hesitations as he felt the cock pressing against his lips, a taboo that he half-remembered, but it was suppressed as he pushed forward. The slick feeling of the snake's cock down his muzzle left him groaning, and the naga king touched his head.

In his impaired state, it almost felt like a benediction.
