The Journey: Part 1

This is the first part of my very first story on here! This will be a short series (maybe 3 parts) but I'll try to post them as quickly as I can churn them out.

I closed the door to my room quietly and with a few steps collapsed on my bed. It had been a long day at school and I was glad to finally be home. It was bright and sunny outside and radiant light spilled through my window warming me. After a few minutes I rolled over and pulled out my phone, squinting against the glare, and called my mate vex. After a few rings I heard a click and a "Hello". "Hey bro... I just got home. What's up?" "Nothing much, I just got home an hour ago. Are you excited for this weekend?" I couldn't help but grin as I thought of the trip we'd been planning. Suddenly there was some distant conversation on the other end and Vex said he had to go. We both said our goodbyes and hung up.

Vex and I have been mates for quite a few years now. We met online and quickly became friends. Then we became more than friends. The only problem is that we live a few thousand miles apart. It had been hard for the first year, back when we were freshmen in highschool, but now we're both seniors and we've met a few times. The first time was magical. It was like I had died and gone to furry heaven. This weekend was a three day weekend and we decided to visit each other. I couldn't wait until tomorrow.

I stood shakily to my paws and stretched before shedding my leather riding jacket and T-shirt. As I hung my clothes in the closet an ice cream truck went by blaring that agonizingly familiar tune. I walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror, flipping the light switch. I brushed my thick black and white fur and studied my iridescent green eyes for a moment before brushing my sharp white teeth. When I was done I took a moment to admire my well toned muscled body in the mirror. I had worked out since 8th grade and It had definitely payed off. I relieved myself and washed my paws before heading downstairs to the kitchen in search of some dinner.
