John managed to make it to the town with a sigh. He had already lost his party in first boss fight. He noticed there were many more players than his city as he gazed around, making his way to the tavern. The town had large walls that were made of stone, diamonds hovered above the town the size of buildings, and anytime a monster approached to close the diamonds fired out white lances of life that vaporized the monsters in painful sounding screams. The metal sign on the entrance archway had the name of the town on it, “Tailwag Village : Home of the Beastmasters.” John chuckled as a player passed him riding a large feline that was painted to look like a clown.
The Tavern loomed over another building with a large smoke stack that belched out sweet smelling scents of honey baked meat. As he entered John saw dozens of players gathered around a bulletin board. He sat down at a table and he started to regenerated his magic point and his health points. The moment he sat down a creature appeared next to him with a smile.
“Hello, Admin John Green, What would you like to eat?” A menu popped up in front of him with the options to order food or assemble a party. John ignored the menu to get a better look at the creature. It was a brown, canine-like creature with a large collar attached to the table. It was listed as female but that was apparent to John from the large bust that seemed barely contained by the tight dirndl dress that complimented her appearance as a barmaid. Her status menu revealed that she was a kobold and had no level or stats to speak of.
“Hey barmaid, what is your favorite color?” He asked quickly just to see a scope of her programming.
“ERROR OPTION NOT RECOGNIZED.” She didn’t so much say as robotic text accompanied by an equally robotic voice blared out of one of the screens.
“Thought so.” John sighed before scanning the room for other NPC’s. He noticed a rabbon that gazed at him with eyes that sparkled. The Rabbon was deep black to the point he couldn’t tell where the rabbon ended and the shadow begun. “Hey Rabbon, what’s your favorite color?” He shouted to the rabbon who grinned back at him.
“The color green; it shows my life through the HP bars, it sparkles around me when my master levels me up and it’s the color of life fruit.” The rabbon answered before stepping out of his seat and walking over to John. “Hello, Admin. Thank you for speaking to me, it’s been so long since I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to someone who didn’t just have a canned speech.”
“So you have free will?” John asked curiously as the rabbon’s shadow extended to the chair and he simply appeared in the chair.
“Yes, I do. All rabbons do across the game. I met one of your citizens a few hours ago and he had such interesting things to read from a newspaper.” The rabbon said before his shadow extended onto the table to show John screwing a female rabbon. “Such interesting things…” The rabbon said with a smile that revealed sharp teeth that reminded John of a shark.
“Yeah, yeah. What class are you? I don’t think I’ve seen a rabbon like you before.” John asked curiously while the kobold vanished from sight.
“My class is Nightmare but my species is Shadow Rabbon. You haven’t traveled very far so I’ll give you a bit of education in thanks for what you’ve done for my people. There are three main species of Rabbon: the Rabbon, which are the weakest and most common, rarely gets higher than level thirty without a summoner or a beast master to help them. Shadow Rabbon, like myself, usually come from level sixty to level 130 and they are normally are evil alignment. And Celestial Rabbon, they start at level 500 and are considered Raid bosses that are only found in the Harmony Lands. My master and his party just finished taking one out two days ago; took about eighty chosen and several dozen summons to kill it.” The rabbon shuffled uncomfortably in his seat, “I know it was an enemy but I feel bad as it screamed and begged for us to spare it while fighting for it’s life.”
“I see…” John shuffled in his seat as guilt racked at his heart. “I may have to pay them a visit to see what I can do to help.” He said as the shark tooth rabbon smiled at him before a player dressed in robes that glowed with energy stepped over to the rabbon, opened up a menu and the rabbon disappeared in a shower of pixels.
“Sorry about my summon. Ever since the last game update rabbons have been pretty quirky. I like that they have crazy detailed talking but they are prone to ignoring commands or doing things that the players can’t do.” The text popped up before being accompanied by the three bobbing dots near the player’s face.
“Oh it’s fine… I heard if you get an opposite gender rabbon in the same party as your rabbon they calm down a bit and just interact with each other.” John lied with a smirk on his face. The player paused for a moment before slowly nodding in wooden gesture. John assumed it was some pre-programmed option in the game. He watched the glowing mage walked off before he noticed that he was at full health from the soft ding that echoed from him. He quickly brought up a menu, and after trailing down it to his former party he quickly summoned them for the ten gold that each of them cost.

Each of the rabbon appeared at the table. Shelby was currently reading the paper with a lewd grin on his face, Thomas was cleaning his sword while Lena was currently chewing on a muffin and healing her magic points, and Mona was currently powdering her face with an item that raised her charm slightly with each application. Their focus immediately snapped to him as they crowded around him with hugs and words of comfort. John chuckled and patted his rabbon gang on the head which caused a pink bar to rise slightly on each of them. He scanned over their status bars carefully to make sure that they were all fine.
“Alright gang, I feel that we might need to do a little leveling before we try to carry on.” John said with sigh, “We did pretty good against the boss but they were cheating. Who wants to pick a quest for us to go on and get a little experience?” As John spoke Lena smirked while rubbing a paw through her shimmering white fur. She looked at the others with a coy smile.
“I wish to chose this one.” Lena said with that smirk. As the others started to protest, she raised her hands with a smile, “Ok. If anyone else has been to this town I’ll defer to you, but I’m the only one who has done the raid boss here at level one and survived.” She said before the lime green rabbon named Thomas started to chuckle.
“Alright well, if you’ve got the experience then I’m willing to let you pick.” He said while Shelby seemed to be lost in reading the newspaper with his pink bar filling up slowly with each movement of his eyes.
Lena turned her gaze to John before pointing to the board. “There is a mission about protecting a caravan. I would like you to take that mission. It’s pretty easy and comes with a lot of experience points.”
John quickly got out of his chair and walked to the board. There were four missions listed that caught his eye but most of them were for slaying monsters that sounded far outside of his current abilities. One mission caught his eye as the lettering glowed softly from the board, [Protect the sacred leaves.] It was a level eleven quest with the a recommendation for a party of two. John grinned looking at the easy quest before accepting the quest as the soft sound of a ping added the quest to his quest list.
Quest:
[Protect the Sacred Leaves.]
Location : Western Gate.
Reward : 5,000 Experience Points, Sacred Leaf Mount.
Tip : Watch the skies.
John skimmed over the less than helpful tips before turning to his party, “Alright, we have a quest. Anyone got anything they need to do here before we leave?” He asked before noticing that each one of his party members had duffel bags over their shoulder. Shelby timidly handed John a larger duffel bag that vanished into his inventory, as the others did the same with their own supplies. He glanced over the items in his inventory before frowning. “I’m grateful but I’m starting to get the vibe that this mission isn’t going to be easy.”
[5x Antidote]
[1x Crossbow]
John pulled the crossbow from his inventory screen to find that it was already loaded. He took the bolt out to inspect it but it vanished before reappearing in his crossbow. “Infinite ammo. Neat.” He said before looking down at the small rabbons who clustered around him expectantly, he patted the head of each of them before seating out to the western gate.
The gate loomed over them while a masked creature stood as still as death nearby, an exclamation mark glowing over its head. The creature was masked from head to toe in black billowing robes. Once John approached the creature it shimmered before speaking.
“Greetings, I am Shmuel. We will head through the western graves ‘till we reach the outpost. The cargo is of the most high importance to the guard, I am trusting you to protect it well.” Shmuel said as he patted the bright red wooden cart before sitting in the driver’s seat. Leashed to the cart was a large brown furred rodent the size of a horse. The cart started to move as the rodent chittered with each step. The group carried along in box formation with John and Thomas taking the front while the others carried on from the back.
The western graves appeared before them within only several hours of walking; The gate was made of ribs that had jewel-like eyes embedded within it. Several of the graves were empty while shadows danced around them. Further in the distance there was a party of players fighting against a skeleton with black armor. John was silently grateful that their path started to turn away from the chaos of the fight. They were already halfway to the outpost and not a single encounter, John felt more anxious as he scanned the skies. Black shapes started to approach in a small cloud as the cart came to a stop. John gripped the crossbow tightly.
One of the black shapes slammed into the ground in front of the cart before letting out a screech. It held out a wicked looking spear that was covered in jagged spikes. As it’s feathers opened to reveal the creature within John started to chuckle, “Is that a harpy?” He said as the fear drained away from him like ice against a snowplow. The creature had the face of a very young girl with solid black skin that had long black plumage coming from its head. Wide owl-like eyes stared back at him as she spread her wings wide which revealed her ample bust that was only barely restrained by a grass bra. She held the spear in her possession at John menacingly as her clawed hand tightened, and her many other smaller harpies circled around her.
“Give sacred!” The harpy screeched as she stared at John.
“No. Let’s get this over with.” John said before changing his class to ranger with a simple button press on a screen.
“Dieeee!” The monster screamed with a lunge in John’s direction but he had already used the ranger’s ability [Stealth] on himself and was behind the creature. She screamed as a salvo of crossbow bolts sank into her back. The flock descended on the cart in a black blur of enraged feathers and spears, John didn’t have enough time to yell directions as the harpy started to swing the spear in his direction. She started to deflect his bolt while trying strike him, each thrust was getting closer and closer to his position.
Lena started to seen in a strange voice that reverberated through the graveyard, her mana bar completely drained as the words [Der Freischutz] floated overhead. The Harpies backed away from her as a black furred rabbon over ten feet tall with a black musket and glowing red horns appeared behind the cart. It slowly aimed it’s musket at the harpy swarm before hundreds of demonic shapes poured from the musket, which pulled many of the harpies in, killing them instantly.
Mona started to slowly spin like a ballerina in front of a small mob of the black creature before splitting into four copies before raising their crossbows. Each of them fire wildly into the crowd as many of them shattered into pixel from the sudden rain of death, Mona and her copies leaped to the top of the cart to ward off another wave of harpies. Thomas grinned at her while pulling his axe from the face of a harpy which shattered into pixel.
“May I have this dance, Miss Mona?” He said with a bow as the world shimmered away from him for a moment. [Cross-Class LV.1 Attack] Appear above both of their head as they started to move in perfect unison cutting down any harpies that neared them as they danced while engaging in an elegant display as Mona used her hidden knives while Thomas finished her rapid stroke with a brutal swing of his ax.
Shelby whipped his hand around sending a whip of yellow light that only manage to slightly ward off his attackers. They had a strong resistance to the holy element he was casting. “Screw this.” He unequipped his robes before donning his training gear; the light armor gave him better speed as he charged to the closest harpy. He started to beat on the creature using his impressive strength, and each blow of his fists dropped the health of the weaker harpies as they vanished in a burst of data. Shelby grabbed the final harpy of the mob and stood still as his body glowed with green light.
Shelby
Class [Druid]
Level : 10
Strength: 10
Dexterity: 1
Intelligence: 10
Perception: 5
Magic: 10
Familiar : Grave Harpy
Shelby looked down at the Harpy in his grip, the creature no longer struggled while gazing back at him. She tilted her head before reaching out and hugging him, “Master!” She squawked out before spreading her wings in a hug around him, Shelby noticed that he had to look much further down at her as he now stood at six feet and the fur over his body had lengthen so drastically that he resembled a blue cotton ball.
The party mopped up the smaller groups of harpies that threatened the cart while John was busy with the boss harpy who continued to jab at him with her poisonous spear. He had already downed four of his antidotes before a message popped into his view, [Party Leader Skill Full].
He tapped at the button quickly while another swipe just barely missed his eye.
Each of his party appeared around him before his body started to move of it’s own accord. [Party Combo : Hare Legion] Flashed before his eyes as the entire landscape shimmered around him, hundreds of rabbons of various classes started to charge the enemy. They started to pummel the screeching harpy in a blur of fists and weapons, and a catapult was rolled near John as a large rabbon was loaded into it.
“Fire!” John shouted without a single thought before the rabbon was launched at the harpy. The explosion was shaped like a rabbon’s head before the scenery changed back to that of the cart as the harpy burst into mote of data leaving nothing to left. The party took up their position around the cart as it slowly continued to the outpost.
They arrived to the outpost before a guard greeted them, a human NPC dressed in plain iron armor. He walked up to the cart and opened the back before a fat female creature stepped out of the back. She was deep green with a large belly and large palm leaves growing out of her head, shoulders and lower back, which acted as clothing. She smiled to the guard before giving the party a small bow.
“Greeting, Kind humans. I will get to work on the apothecary immediately.” She stated before turning on John, “Thank you for your protection, this is for your hard work.” She reached out before pushing a glowing bit of data into John’s hand.
[Sacred Leaf] : Summon a mount.
John looked over the item in his inventory before using it. The moment he used the leaf the ground erupted into a large pangolin like creature looked over the party, it was nearly twelve feet long and covered in long leafy growth that formed it’s ‘scales’. There were four saddles positioned from beneath it’s neck to the base of it’s tail. John reached over and petted the creature on its muzzle as it looked at him blankly, he considered manipulating the creature but quickly pushed thought aside in favor of having a mount that didn’t panic during attacks.
John looked at the only harpy that was standing with a smile as the words [Owner : Shelby] Hovered over the harpy’s head. He opened up his menu and edited her to have maximum affection and loyalty toward her master while giving her the name : [Tabitha]. There was soft chime as he finished his alterations while another window jumped in his face.
[Quest Complete]
Reward : 5,000 Experience Points, Sacred Leaf Mount.
John watched as his group shimmered from the newly gained experience, he felt tired from the encounter but he looked over the group proudly. “You all did good. I see a few of you even changed classes. Next time we are in a town for a resupply I have something special planned as a reward.” John said while facing away from his party with a lewd grin on his face, there would definitely be time for a little rest and relaxation.
