Commission: Man’s Best Friend (With Benefits)
A commission for :iconThe Trickster: and one that involves an idea that I've both explored before in a slightly different manner and one that has been sitting in my prompts list for a good long while! You might see more from this concept if I can ever find the time to get around to it! Also, first time I've actually used the pandemic-era setting we've gotten familiar with in the past year and change.
OBLIGATORY CONTENT WARNING: This story contains sexual acts between two males, domination/submission, size difference, rough sex, and unorthodox states of dog-ness.
Man’s Best Friend. For Niall, maybe ‘only’ was the more appropriate word.
It wasn’t that he didn’t like people. He just didn’t feel very comfortable getting close to them. He would talk with his neighbors on occasion, collaborate with his co-workers, and wasn’t nasty to people he met on the street. People would generally have described him as friendly, but distant, and that about summed it up. He felt awkward around people, and really didn’t feel a lot of desire to get terribly close to them.
Quite the opposite of how he felt with Sam, his dog. Niall absolutely adored Sam, a husky/malamute mix of rather impressive proportions - too big for some, but perfect as far as Niall was concerned. Sam had been with him basically all of Sam’s life - Niall had adopted him as a puppy a few years ago, wanting someone to occupy the space when he had moved out on his own. Sam had those bright blue eyes that looked so full of life and energy, that nice white and gray fur that got everywhere, and the most friendly disposition Niall could have hoped for. Sam was basically Niall’s one and only close friend, and as far as Niall was concerned that was just fine.
Naturally, Sam was a bit spoiled. Niall took good care of him, made sure he got the right food and ample exercise - it happened to be good exercise for himself, as well, as well one of the rare times where he would occasionally interact with neighbors who were out in their yards or walking their own dogs as he passed, albeit fairly superficially - but Sam also got run of all the furniture, treats frequently, plenty of licked ice cream bowls, and all the attention a dog could ever want. It was a normal thing for Sam to sleep on Niall’s bed, in fact highly encouraged as Niall liked that extra pressure and weight on the covers. Of course, Niall didn’t really care that he was giving Sam a pretty high life - it was worth it for the happiness he brought to Niall.
For the last few months, though, it had been probably even better for Sam. The pandemic had hit, and Niall found himself working remotely for the indefinite future…now Niall was home all day long, and Sam got the pleasure of his company on an even more continual basis. For Niall, it was probably an easier transition than for most, since he could handle staying in pretty well, though he still went on his daily walk with Sam - masked up properly, of course, and giving a wide berth to anyone who wasn’t - but he found himself definitely a bit more talkative towards Sam and even more desirous of his company. Maybe he was a bit stressed out, worried about what was happening in the world around him, and there were times when the lack of connection could be a little challenging…but, at least Sam was always there to try to cheer him up.
“I hope this thing ends soon…” Niall found himself saying one evening as he was preparing for bed, as Sam padded in through the bedroom door. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m starting to miss being around other people in the office. It feels so weirdly distant from all of them…course, you’re probably gonna be disappointed that I’m not inside all day with you, eh?” He gave Sam an affectionate rub on the head. “But you get me all to yourself a good portion of the day anyway, it’s almost unfair to monopolize me, don’t you think?”
Sam, of course, didn’t make any obvious response to this. Nor did Niall think he would, that would probably be a sign that he was spending WAY too much time inside. “Well, I’m sure you’ll survive, and you know I’ll treat you extra nice to make up for it. But I don’t even know when that’s going to be, so…guess there’s no rush, eh?” Down to nothing but his boxers, Niall slipped under the covers of his bed, and almost instantly Sam hopped up onto the bed, making his way over close to Niall’s head and bedding down next to him. Chuckling, Niall gave him one more pat before turning off the lamp. “Good night, Sam…thanks for being there for me.” Once again no response, but the soothing sounds of the canine’s breathing helped lull him off to slumber.
——
Weird dreams…Niall had enough experience with them, he imagined pretty much everyone did. That night had a few of them, rushing through his head in a chaotic frenzy, leaving behind only faint wisps that would remain only briefly in his conscious mind when he woke up. Or at least, that’s how it normally would have gone…but not this time.
When Niall broke out of slumber, it was just on the verge of dawn. The sky was lightening, but the sun hadn’t clearly risen, making it relatively dim, but bright enough to see a little bit. But it wasn’t what he was seeing that drew his attention, but what he was hearing and feeling…something wasn’t right. There was the sound of overly heavy breathing in his ear, much too deep and strong to be his familiar canine companion. And the pressure and weight that had been Sam next to him when he fell asleep was…not what he thought it should be. It felt bigger, heavier, somehow weirder…and not all just next to him. No, there was something on him…as the fuzz cleared from his eyes, he chanced a glance downward - and froze.
That…is a fucking arm.
And it wasn’t just an arm, it was a BIG arm. And it was an incredibly hairy arm…no, Niall corrected himself immediately, that wasn’t hairy, that was FURRY. At first he thought he was still in something of a distorted image, his mind not processing things correctly and he was just seeing seeing things…but the more he looked, the less he could lie to himself, this was an arm that looked like a human’s with a coat of fur, definitely with a human-like hand, crooked over him almost possessively. It wasn’t bright enough to make out much more clear detail, so Niall had to jump to the first conclusion he could think of, no matter how absurd.
Werewolf.
Of course, werewolves weren’t supposed to exist…but how else was he supposed to explain what he was seeing? But there was one way to confirm…slowly he turned over, trying not to disturb whoever the stranger was in his bed. The slow turn led to heavy anticipation and dread as he neared what he thought…and then the body laying on the covers behind him came into view. Too dark to make out too much, but enough to see the obvious canid features in the head, with pointed ears and long muzzle, mounted on a body that looked halfway between a man and a beast, covered in fur all the way down. As far as Niall was concerned, that confirmed his suspicions…and that left only one thing to do.
Get the fuck out of here.
His brain was turning to panic mode - no thought spared for how the creature got it, why it was practically spooning him, what had happened to the creature that should have been there, the only thing he could focus on was survival and escape. He could only move slowly, trying not to disturb the creature as he shifted under the covers, trying to gently move that arm off of him…and then he heard a snort, and the beast shifted, and Niall threw all caution to the wind, shoving himself forward off the bed. He landed rather hard on the ground, but adrenaline kept him from feeling it as he scrambled up to his feet and raced for the door. He wrenched it open and rushed out just as he heard something pounce to the ground behind him - shit! It’s after me! - and made a beeline for the stairs, hoping that he’d thrown it off just enough to get out of the house. Mostly naked, maskless, it wasn’t a great situation, but better than having his throat torn out.
The thud of footsteps behind him spooked him as he reached the stairs, and he tried to take them quickly, but his haste cost him, and a missed step had him frantically grabbing at the bannister to keep him from falling all the way. By the time he righted himself, a pair of furry arms had grabbed him from behind, pulling him into a terrifyingly muscular chest. He tried to pull away, but he was swung around, the hold staying firm enough, though it felt like the creature almost fell down the stairs itself…if he’d had another chance, he would have tried the maneuver again, but he didn’t, the beast steadied itself and pulled him down to the ground floor. Niall made one last desperate effort to pull free, almost got it, but then the beast come down on top of him, pinning him hard and rapping his head against the floor. This was it, this was the end, it had him at its mercy, unable to protect his vulnerable face and neck-
“NIALL! Calm down! It’s okay! It was a nightmare!”
That…was not what he had expected to hear. The shaking human stopped squirming, blinked through the tears and the fuzz from the conk on the head, to see the buff canine creature above him…in a little more light, he could see more of those features, the light-colored fur, the bright blue eyes…eyes that looked remarkably like…
“S…Sam?”
Worry mixed somewhat with relief in the canine’s features. “Geez, Niall…you gave me a real scare there. I thought you were gonna hurt yourself. What spooked you so badly?”
“What…what…what the hell is going on here? Why are you…” Niall shook his head rapidly, then instantly regretted it. “Owww…ugh, that hurts…”
“Ah, d-d’you need any help? C’mon, let’s get you up…” In a flash, Sam was up, pulling Niall with him…the human could only go along for the ride. The canine was big and he was STRONG, Niall felt almost like a ragdoll under his grip. “Where do you keep the stuff that helps you feel better?”
“In…in the bathroom…” It was all too much, and Sam needed to try to process things one at a time…starting with an aspirin. Then he could try to figure out what the hell he’d been dumped into.
——
One aspirin and glass of water later, Niall was sitting at the dining room table, rubbing his head and waiting for the painkiller to kick in. Sitting next to him was Sam…Sam sitting next to him was a normal thing, but him sitting upright in a chair like an everyday person was anything BUT normal. And Niall was pretty convinced this was Sam, even without any super definitive affirmation - basically, he looked exactly like Sam if Sam’s shape had been mounted on a rather enormous human frame. He had to be a good foot and a half taller than Niall and had a muscular body like Niall thought only existed in the realm of fantasy, and it wasn’t all show, Niall could already tell that Sam had every bit of the muscle he looked like he had. But he still had those bright blue eyes, that nice husky fur, his head looked very much like his familiar companion’s…and the fact that he seemed so concerned about Niall put to rest any doubt about the conclusion.
As absurd as it was.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine…just a bump on the head. It’s aching, but nothing serious.”
“Okay…if you say so. I was so worried, you were acting kinda crazy! What was it that got you so spooked?”
Niall just looked at Sam in disbelief. “Are…are you serious? YOU!”
“Huh? Why me?”
“Why…look at you! Last night I went to bed and you were a dog, this morning I wake up and you’re…you’re some kind of…I don’t even know what!”
Sam cocked his head, looking quite confused. “What do you mean, Niall? I’m still a dog.”
“You…ungh…” Niall dropped his head into one hand; another headache of a very different sort was itching to come on. “Dogs don’t walk on two legs, Sam. Dogs don’t speak human languages. They sure as heck don’t look like they were chiseled by ancient Greek sculptors.”
Sam looked upwards, rubbing under his muzzle with one hand, then gave a shrug. “I don’t really know what to tell you, Niall. I’m a dog, and I’m walking and talking. And, uh, thanks for the compliment on my looks.”
Niall felt pretty aghast, but willed down his response. This was getting nowhere, but he’d ascertained a few things. Clearly, this was Sam, as he wasn’t confused about what Niall had called him. Clearly, Sam still considered himself a dog, even if as far as Niall was concerned he was more of a dog-man. And clearly, Sam didn’t know what had happened to transition him from state A to state B. Trying to make the distinctions seemed not to be fruitful, so it was time to explore another path. “What happened last night? Do you remember anything?”
“Uhm…well, I remember climbing up onto the bed and laying down next to you. I was on all fours then, so it wasn’t the same…and then I had this weird dream, but I can’t remember much of any of it. But it woke me up, and I saw you, and you looked a bit tense, so I got closer to you to try to help you sleep better. It was a lot easier like this.”
So Sam was aware of having being a regular dog before all this…and the change didn’t seem to register to him as anything but normal. That was so bizarre, Niall certainly would have reacted if he’d changed so drastically. “You didn’t see or hear anything?”
“Nothing unusual. Though I was sleeping. Maybe I wouldn’t notice.”
“Right…okay, well, uh, I think…I think I need to take some time to process all this. It seems like it’s perfectly normal to you, but it’s not to me. I’m gonna get dressed, and then…I think I need to call out of work.”
“Oh, can we go out for a walk then?” asked Sam eagerly.
Niall blinked. “I…uh…don’t think that would be a super good idea at the moment.”
“Aw…” Sam’s ears fell. “All right, I guess. I’ll have to find some other way to burn off this energy.” The canine stood up when Niall did, and then Niall got an eyeful of something he hadn’t been paying attention to before - right in front of him was the canine’s sheath, a lot bigger than it had looked on the normal dog, settled above a nice thick furry pair of balls that looked way bigger than anything Niall had ever seen. His faced reddened, and he quickly looked away, regretting that immediately as the pain spiked again. Sam noticed this, and looked at him curiously. “Is everything all right, Niall?”
“Yeah, fine. Still working out this headache, it’ll be fine.” He stepped past Sam, heading back towards his bedroom, trying not to let on the half-mast he had sporting in his boxers. Why he was getting aroused, he didn’t know…okay, he was into guys, but he definitely wasn’t a furry, he always thought that was just weird stuff. Maybe it was just all the muscle, it was a pretty good look…
Also…wasn’t he neutered?
——
Getting the day off was easier than Niall would have thought. He knew something was off when he couldn’t get online, even from his phone. But he could call, and his supervisor gave him the news.
“The network’s completely down? Really? Did we lose anything?”
“We won’t know until we get things running again.” Niall’s supervisor, Andrea, sounded fairly stressed. “IT said there wasn’t any visible damage, but there’s some kind of transmission issue. It’s not just us…pretty much the entire Internet’s been knocked out.”
“Oh, jeez. Do you think…”
“Don’t know what to think. If it’s an attack, though, I haven’t heard anything about it. I chanced a call to my sister at the newspaper, she said AP has no word of any attack on any city in the country, and other countries appear to be experiencing the same issues. Phone communications still work, and there’s some indication that nothing was destroyed, it’s just…having trouble actually doing what it’s supposed to.”
“I see…well, let me know when things are back up. In the meantime, what should I do?”
“Just wait, I guess. We can’t function like this, but all guess is that the clients aren’t doing much either. Office is basically calling it enforced leave without pay, except for IT. I’ll buzz everyone if I hear anything, but we’ve got no ETA. No one has any clue what’s going on here.”
“I know that feeling. Thanks, Drea, talk to you later.” Niall hung up the phone, pondering. Two weird events without explanation…am I foolish for thinking they might be connected? There was no proof of it, but something didn’t seem all that right. And no getting paid…well, at least he wasn’t using PTO, but still…then again, was he really going to be spending anything? What bank’s operations were going to be active if all the networks were down? Things seemed like they could be messy for a while…and Niall really didn’t have anything to do except hang around and try to figure out things with Sam. Without any outside help. Yeah, fat chance of that.
He stepped out of his room and headed downstairs, where Sam was doing some exercises on his own. He seemed to be antsy, probably because he wanted to go out and Sam had told him not to. His face reddened again as he caught himself looking at the powerful and very nude form of the canine; he was having a lot of trouble keeping his eyes off of it, more than he knew he should. Maybe three weird events… “You, uh, sure seem peppy.”
“Mmnh, I wanna go out, but you don’t want to, so I’m just trying to do what I can.” Sam didn’t even sound out of breath…had he just started, or did he just have that kind of stamina?
“Uh, you wanna put something on while you work out?”
Sam looked over at Niall. “Huh? Why?”
“I mean…uh…something to wear, to cover up, something lightweight for workout stuff…” It was a fairly feeble explanation, somehow he was struggling to come up with an effective reason. Maybe because Sam still thought of himself as a dog, and dogs didn’t wear clothes? Seemed as good an excuse as any to him.
And Sam seemed to bear that out, as he broke into a grin and a snicker. “Uh-uh! No way am I wearing any of those tacky dog clothes. Besides, I feel comfortable like this! Never needed ‘em before, wouldn’t now.”
That makes one of us. But Niall let the objection die, heading into the kitchen to stick his head in the fridge to cool himself down, and then get something to eat. And that made him think of something else…
Somehow, I get the feeling dog food isn’t gonna cut it anymore.
——
The rest of that day, and the next, were mostly Niall trying to figure out as much as he could about Sam from Sam himself, since that was the only real source of information he could get. Though calling it ‘information’ was being a bit generous, mostly it was conjecture and inference.
From what Niall could tell, Sam had intellectual capacity on par with any human - there didn’t seem to be any clear indication of any particular deficit in understanding on the most fundamental level. He showed a remarkable awareness of concepts as well, there were gaps in Sam’s familiarity or understanding of certain things but he seemed to understand them just fine once they were properly introduced, and he had an unexpectedly wide array of ‘innate’ knowledge. Too much for Niall to think that it was incidental…he surely had to have had some of that knowledge bestowed on him by whatever change happened. In terms of mental maturity, Niall would place Sam on par with a human in their early 20s, roughly around the same as his own. It really was as if his pooch had been turned into a young adult human, apart from all the other dog features he still had.
And it was clear, advanced though he was, Sam still did in some ways have a dog way of thinking. Still loyal and protective, still a sense of a ‘pack,’ still eager to run and play, still focused a lot on scent - something that Niall was still trying to wrap his head around, Sam seemed to pick things up on scent that he never would have noticed. Some of the matters they discussed, he could tell Sam was shaking his head and wondering what the heck was up with humans. And a number of human mannerisms and norms didn’t seem to hold any weight for him - particularly clothing, which was a source of continued challenge for Niall, as he struggled not to ogle that handsome body and enticing sheath and plump balls that he was ever so sure had been NOT a presence on the canine before the change. He almost wanted to ask about that just out of curiosity, but had a feeling that would probably not lead anywhere good.
It was a whole lot of change, but one thing hadn’t: his feelings towards Sam, and Sam’s towards him. Before the end of the first day, they were talking like old friends, and by the end of the second, Niall almost felt like he’d known Sam his whole life. Whatever had changed, Sam was still his buddy, and he was still glad to have him around. And he was finding out that Sam was pretty touchy-feely, too, wanting to cuddle up close and give him licks and lay with him and all that stuff he had as a regular dog, and which filled Niall with a comforting warmth, enough to endure the somewhat discomforting warmth concentrated in a particular area. Of course, the positions were somewhat different with Sam’s new shape…it seemed more like he was curled into Sam in a number of respects than Sam was into him, almost a reversal of their previous positions. He tried not to think too much of this, it was probably just the size difference.
On the morning of the third day of the new paradigm, though, things took another turn.
Niall woke up to the sound of the shower running, and for a moment was confused…until he remembered Sam. It was still a bit of adjustment having what amounted to a roommate, particularly when he’d lived on his own for so long. Still, he was rather glad that he didn’t have to introduce the concept of the bathroom to his buddy, and that he had no issues with using it - he really didn’t want to have to explain a squatting dog-man in the back yard to the neighbors. Pulling himself upright and yawning a bit, he stepped out of the bedroom with the intent to head downstairs and get himself some breakfast…but as he passed by the bathroom, he saw the door was wide open. And as he looked inside, he was struck by quite the sight.
Sam was in the shower, leaning back under the stream of the shower. His head was tilted back and his tongue was hanging out, and that wasn’t the only organ on display…the husky’s cock was in his paw, being stroked vigorously under the cascading water. Niall’s jaw dropped as he saw the spire of red flesh - it was gargantuan, it had to have been at least double Niall’s size in every dimension, maybe more! It’s appearance was unfamiliar as well, more pointed at the tip and bearing a significant bulge at the base, what looked to be far too thick to fit inside anything safely. He knew he shouldn’t be looking, he was interrupting a private moment…but he struggled to tear himself away, his vision captivated by that potent cock. As he watched, Sam let out a grunt, and virile jets of dogcum spurted out from the tip, splattering against the wall of the shower, no doubt making a considerable mess…there was so much of it, Niall couldn’t believe anything could shoot that much.
As Sam relaxed following the jerking session, his eyes darted towards Niall in the doorway, who’s redness deepened hard. He expected the canine to tell him off…but what he got instead was a cheeky grin his direction. “Enjoy the show, Niall?”
“Ah…uh, s-sorry…”
“Heh, I don’t mind. Maybe next time you can join me.”
“W…what?!”
“Just a suggestion. Mm, better get myself properly clean.” Sam stood back upright, starting to wash himself off, his cock receding back into his sheath. Niall watched a bit longer, mesmerized, until good sense helped him finally break away and get back to what he had actually planned to do. But the sight of that cock was burned into his brain, and he knew it wasn’t going anywhere any time soon…
——
The rest of that day, and the start of the next, saw a creeping change in Sam. And perhaps Niall, too, though it was harder for him to recognize that with his focus on the canine.
It seemed like Sam was getting a bit more forward with him. Niall would catch him stretching, pushing forth his chest and groin to put his sheath and his muscle on prominent display, right in front of Niall’s field of vision. When Sam was next to him, on top of him, anywhere in close proximity, he was brushing a lot more against the human’s lower areas, sometimes blatantly, sometimes seemingly accidentally. Sometimes it was seemingly innocent, a hand on Niall’s rear or crotch, or a press of that sheath against the human’s thigh; other times it was much more blatant, like the time he just chose to climb over the back of the couch, right over Niall, his crotch passing just an inch away from Niall’s face and getting the scent of his musk all up in the human’s nose.
His words were no different; occasionally dropping a suggestive hint here and there, cracking slightly to moderately lewd jokes (the phrase ‘dog bone’ came up more than a few times), and just generally being a bit more cheeky than he had been at first. Niall took it as awkwardly as he would have expected, flustered and evasive about it, not really sure he should have been thinking of Sam that way…but, notably, never outright shutting it down or firmly rejecting the flirtation. Perhaps he should have been, but something about it was tricky for him to navigate...or maybe there were other reasons he wasn’t entirely accepting.
The evening of the fourth day of the new Sam was the real turning point. It was getting late, and Niall was feeling quite heated from a good bit of close contact with Sam, fighting against a boner that he was trying not to indulge because he knew what would be going through his mind as he tried himself off from his shower. The lack of work or internet made it hard to break his focus from thoughts of Sam, and he didn’t have any good excuse to head out, not in a pandemic when he couldn’t reliably shop. Sam seemed to be getting antsier, too, he really wanted to go out himself, but Niall was still not sure that was a good idea, not without knowing how he’d be received…and he could swear that every time he shot down that idea Sam got a little more aggressive with the flirting. He wasn’t sure sleeping with Sam holding him was going to make that any easier, but he was going to try…
At least, that was his thought, until he entered the bedroom and saw Sam laying on his bed, legs spread wide, cock at full mast, jutting in the air in a lewd display. The husky had a lustful gaze in his eyes and a slightly devious grin on his face. “Hay, Niall. I noticed you were looking kinda thirsty earlier…figured you needed a drink.” He beckoned to Niall with one finger, and almost as if in a trance, the human stepped forward, getting closer to the tantalizing body on display for him. Dimly, something in the back of his head tried to lodge a protest, that there was something deviant about this…it went unheeded.
As he got to his bed, Niall climbed up onto it, getting himself closer to the lascivious canine, a strong musky scent filling his nostrils. He reached out hesitantly, his fingers brushing against that shaft just a little, eliciting a nice trilling growl from Sam. Why was he so mesmerized? He didn’t really know, all he knew was that he was…he scootched closer, letting him wrap his hand all the way around the staff, or as much as he could - up close like this, he got a much better sense of how long and thick it really was, in a way that didn’t fully register from that sight from afar when Sam was showering. It put any human he ever saw to shame, that was for sure…
He had lost track of what Sam was doing, and thus was caught off-guard when a strong hand took hold of the towel wrapped around his waist and pulled it off of him, casting it aside and exposing Niall’s aching erection. “Ooh, someone’s eager…why don’t we help each other out?” Niall turned to look at Sam, just in time to see the husky grab his leg and pull it towards him, swinging Niall’s lower half around and on top of him. When his head stopped spinning, Niall found himself resting on top of that furry body, with the canine cock right in his face. The scent was even stronger, making him swallow hard through a tight throat and a dry mouth. His mind finally ground through what Sam had been suggesting. ‘Help each other out’ indeed…
Sam was a lot less hesitant about it, though, and Niall gasped as that hot, wet tongue started to slurping along his cock and balls. His fingers clung to the fur on Sam’s thighs as he initially couldn’t do anything but arch his back and moan, the pleasure from that deft tongue blew a circuit in his brain…it was so good, too good, he nearly forgot himself in it, but shook it off just enough to try to start to return the favor. Sam had him at a decided disadvantage, much bolder and less reserved getting his mouth in gear - how it was that this was the case was beyond Niall, but everything about this was super weird - but he eventually pushing himself to take a tentative lick. The flavor of the canine’s tool was strong, initially making him pull back and then almost as quickly spurring him to another. Something about it…it wasn’t what Niall would have called his favorite flavor, but there was something in it that he desired, that he wanted more than he would have thought.
A second lick soon became a third, and then more followed…the more he tasted it, the less inhibited Niall felt. His hands went from holding the furry hide to aiding in his pleasure of Sam, one hand fondling those heavy balls in that furry sack while his other squeezed at the base of the sheath, where he could feel a firmness or bulging that he didn’t really understand but wasn’t in a good state to question. Soon his mouth wasn’t even leaving that cock, slurping and kissing and sucking on it, craving that addictive flavor. He didn’t really have a good sense what he was doing, mostly he was just trying to provide what pleasure he could and doing what seemed to be making Sam moan out.
Of course, Sam was doing the same, and highly effectively at that. His much bigger tongue had little trouble dealing with Niall’s comparatively smaller cock, lashing over most of it with long, deliberate licks, or wrapping around it and squeezing a bit, or dragging it over the head, all of which were driving Niall wild. He would give the human’s balls a bath as well, or lick along the spot between his cock and balls, unperturbed by the bush of pubes that he encountered here and there as he did so. It was so much more stimulating than anything that Niall had done to himself, like night and day for the human…of course, he didn’t have a tongue that could do anything like that, even if it could have reached. He could feel his loins aching, the need starting to get to them as they primed him closer and closer to release.
There was no way Niall could match Sam act for act, so he just did the best he could. Opening as wide as he could, he pushed his mouth partway onto that thick shaft…he could only go so far, and as he felt the tip hit the back of his throat he tensed and pulled back, he was in no way ready for that. But he still had a few inches in his mouth and was licking and sucking over them, moaning around the flesh as it leaked salty pre all over his tongue. His hands moved to stroke over what they could of that thick cock, and that was when he found that thick bulge of flesh at the base…it felt enormous, though he couldn’t really get a good look at it from where he was, so maybe it was just his imagination. Rubbing it seemed to get a rise out of Sam, though, the husky rumbling behind him…he wrapped both hands around it as much as he could, tightening down and giving it a good massage…
He was not prepared for what he had wrought. Suddenly Sam’s tongue left his aching crotch, just before he had reached the point of no return, and Niall felt a flood of seed pump into his mouth. Thick, sticky, salty, tinged with that musky tone, and so, so prolific, he was almost overwhelmed at the first unexpected burst. He tried to pull back, but at the angle he was at, he simply couldn’t get all the way off, especially as Sam sort of bent a bit to push that cock closer…he wasn’t getting out of this, so he had to scramble to swallow all he could. Whatever he didn’t ended up making a fine mess all over his face and the husky’s crotch, seed dribbling down all over the place.
It felt for a while like it might never end, but finally that release tapered off, allowing Niall to catch up and catch his breath a bit. He still felt super aroused, but Sam hadn’t resumed his treatment, and he whined a bit as he felt the need start to get to him. Underneath him, Sam was drawing in heavy breaths, making him rise and fall with each one. “Damn…that was unexpected. Sorry, I’d’ve warned you…my knot’s pretty sensitive, especially when you squeeze it.” Knot? Maybe that was the bulge, Sam didn’t really know a whole lot about that part of canine anatomy - after all, Sam wasn’t for breeding, he’d been neutered. Clearly he wasn’t now, the change had brought that part back, and apparently in top condition by how much cum he’d had to swallow.
Sam pulled Niall back and off of him, getting the human back to the edge of the bed; there was still a fair bit of cum around his mouth and up at the top of his chest, and Niall flushed a bit at the cheeky grin. “Nice to see you enjoyed it enough to wear a bit. Mm, but I can see you’re still needy…why don’t you finish inside me?”
“I…ins…y-you mean…”
“Sure, why not?” Sam spread his legs wider as he patted Niall on the side. “I know you’ll like this end, too. Don’t worry, I can handle it just fine…”
Niall was in no state to refuse such an offer. He clambered around a bit, finally getting into position between Sam’s legs, over that exceedingly messy crotch with a cock that was retreating into its sheath. There was a heat at the canine’s tailhole that was unfamiliar to his cock…he was about to penetrate someone else for the first time, and in his wildest dreams, he’d never imagined it to be an anthropomorphic version of Sam that he’d be losing that virginity to. It almost seemed like it had to be a dream he’d wake up from just before he actually entered…but the tip of his cock breached that pucker, and he felt warmth envelop his cock, and he knew it was no dream. Falling a bit down over Sam, he pushed in further, all too soon reaching the deepest he could go inside the canine, who showed no sign of distress at the action. “That’s it, give me your love, Niall, let me feel you…”
It probably wasn’t what Niall would call his most impressive performance, but it was his first time, he wasn’t exactly an expert in these matters. In and out, he humped away, slightly clumsy but effective at least for him, all while Sam squeezed down on him and worked his cock over as much as his greedy rear could. It was a fairly smooth humping overall, there was ample doggy saliva coating him and his pre quickly helped ease things along after a few thrusts as well…though Niall got the feeling it was still easier for Sam to handle than even an equivalently-sized human. Maybe he was just making unfounded assumptions, it wasn’t like he had experience, but he just got this feeling…one he could mull over later if he needed to. He held tight to Sam as he bucked in and out, his voice cracking a bit in the rush of pleasure.
It was not destined to be a long affair, not with as much as he’d been primed. All too soon, Niall had reached his limit, and he let out a cry as his cock shot off into Sam’s rear. The husky wrapped his legs around Niall as he came, ensuring that every drop shot inside him, murring pleasantly as Niall gave him all he could shoot. It felt like all too soon that it ended, sooner for sure than Sam’s release, but that wasn’t Niall’s first concern as his wobbly limbs started to buckle under him, and he fell forward into the canine’s messy crotch. Sam giggled a bit, pulling Niall out of him and dragging the human up into his arms, holding him tight and paying the mess on them absolutely no mind, even licking a bit of the slightly tacky canine seed off his face. “You were wonderful, Niall. Just as I thought you’d be. Now you don’t have to be shy about it anymore, okay?”
“Hn…y-yeah…I, uh…I guess…” It was a whole lot for Niall to try to process, so he didn’t - he let sleep claim him in the furry arms of his now-lover, leaving that and all the necessary cleaning for the morning. But one thing was for sure - he felt calmer, more relaxed, and happier than he could remember feeling in a long, long time.
——
Day 6 post-change, and Niall was getting a little nervous. It wasn’t with Sam himself, though the husky had certainly taken things up a notch. The husky was more affectionate than ever, more touchy-feely than after his change, and even less shy about showing himself off to Niall, and Niall had to admit he was getting a little less shy about it himself. After getting intimate like that, it was hard to still have awkwardness about seeing Sam all exposed like that. He still wasn’t sure whether he should feel that good about that, but it was hard to deny that there was something very satisfying about what was happening between them.
No, it was something else that was worrying him: the thought that someone could come searching for him and blow everything to smithereens.
Niall hadn’t left his house since ‘the event.’ That was after months of having a steady routine, regular walks outside with Sam, idle run-ins with neighbors, that sort of thing. And he was beginning to realize that his absence might be noticed by someone. What if someone started to wonder if something had happened to him, and came looking around for him? Maybe they would think he’d contracted the disease or had been attacked or something, and come looking around his place…he wasn’t sure they really knew where he lived, but they had to know the general direction. They could discover Sam’s change and call someone else, and it could all go completely out of control. That thought ate at him enough that he decided he had to go out and at least feign some semblance of normalcy, just so that no one started to wonder about him.
Predictably, this did not sit well with Sam. “Come on! I’ve been cooped up in here for days! When am I gonna get to come out and run around?”
“I’m sorry, Sam…I just…I don’t want anything bad to happen to you. I don’t know what they’d think of you, and if they freaked out, it could bring a whole bunch of bad attention on us…”
“What would they freak out about? I’m just a dog!”
Niall didn’t really know how to respond to that - Sam didn’t see himself as anything but normal, what could he say to convince him otherwise? “Things have been…weird recently. I’m just not sure I know how they’ll react.”
Sam glowered at him, and Niall really felt his heart ache - he couldn’t remember Sam ever being angry or upset at him. “You’ve been running into them for months and you don’t even know if you can trust them? Do you even KNOW them?”
“I…uh…” That, too, was a bit painful…he didn’t, really. He’d seen some of them almost every day for multiple years, and he rarely even talked to them, not more than a few words. He didn’t miss Sam’s implication - that maybe if he had actually made an effort to get to know them better, he wouldn’t be so worried about how they’d react to the changed husky. Maybe he was more right than he knew…
Sam turned away from him. “Fine. Go on your walk.” The big dogman stomped over and flopped down onto the couch in a huff. It was almost enough for Niall to change his mind, but he didn’t - he’d apologize to Sam afterwards, after he cooled off enough, and then try to explain it to him so that he’d understand. It was about his safety, after all - he was trying to look out for Sam’s well-being, protect him from a world that he didn’t think would accept him so easily. Still, that didn’t help him feel much better about it as he left…and it was pretty quickly that he felt rather lonely, he hadn’t walked without Sam in years and it felt pretty empty without him. He doubted he’d be out for terribly long.
But…maybe I should at least try to talk with a few people. Sam’s right, I should get to know them…I should at least be able to find a few people I could trust if I needed help. If trouble does come find me or Sam, an ally might be our only hope.
And he made an effort…awkwardly, but it was an effort. Talking to the old man Henderson as he was trimming his hedges, he found that the man seemed to be just as cagey as he was - trying to talk casually, they discussed the weird incident briefly, but a brief mention of his wife and cat had him hurrying away from the subject. It was making Niall a bit uncomfortable, which he tried not to show as he bid farewell. He passed another woman he saw often, a middle-aged lady who typically walked a Pomeranian. She, too, was without her companion, and didn’t seem very interested in talking about them, or much with him in general. She certainly seemed tense, and left before Niall could even ask her name…whether that was normal or just something that happened recently, he couldn’t tell.
Everything had an eerie feeling about it today…he thought it was lingering guilt over leaving Sam behind at first, but about halfway through his walk it suddenly struck him, what he wasn’t seeing that didn’t seem right.
Where are all the animals?
There was a house he crossed the street on every walk because they had a Labrador retriever who would bark a lot at Sam whenever they passed; the yard was deserted and silent. A blue house on the corner usually had two or three cats lounging on the porch as their owner sat on the bench reading; she was completely alone, and came off as distracted. He even remembered one place he passed by where there was an iguana tank in the window; as he looked, all he saw in there was the shattered base. No matter where he looked, he didn’t see any sign of any animals anywhere. It was as if they had all vanished.
Or were being kept hidden.
It couldn’t be…could it?
It seemed absurd to even think about…yet, he was still living through one absurd thing, so perhaps he needed to recalibrate. Maybe he should have inquired, but something told him that that might not be so well-received…especially considering his own reaction. But now that the thought was in his head, he wasn’t sure he’d be able to get it out. Something weird was going on around there, that was all he knew…maybe by the time the Internet came back online, he’d be able to dig into it…
In his distraction, and not-so-subtle effort to look for signs of animal life anywhere, he very nearly bumped into a young woman on the sidewalk. He had to stumble back a bit to avoid her…and then blushed a bit as he felt a sense of deja vu. The woman he’d nearly hit was one he’d almost run into once before, when Sam and her dog, a German Shepherd, had gotten a little to eager to greet each other. Of course, she was alone this time. “Oh! S-sorry, I, uh…I promised I’d watch where I was going a bit better…”
“It’s fine, I wasn’t, uh, paying much attention either.” She seemed rather nervous too…there seemed to be a lot of that going around. “Uh, don’t worry about it…uh, Niall, was it?”
“Y-yeah. And…sorry, I’ve completely forgotten-“
“It’s fine! Uh, Monica. Sorry, I’m just…got stuff on my mind. It’s been a crazy week, hasn’t it?”
“Yeah, no kidding. I, uh, don’t suppose you really know anything more about it than anyone else, huh?”
“Probably not…only that my sister’s told me things are weird across the country, too, and for the same reasons. It seems like whatever happened happened all over.”
Niall rubbed his head. “Jeez…I hope they figure out what happened soon, it seems like everything’s gone a bit nuts lately.”
“Yeah, no kidding. It feels kinda creepy out here. I probably shouldn’t be out without Bruno, but…well, he’s been, uh, off lately, so I figured it was best not to, um, push him.”
“Oh…y-yeah, I, uh, I had to keep Sam in, too. He’s…not been himself.”
“Ah. I, uh, I see. That’s a good…a good way to put it, I think.”
There was a moment of uncomfortable silence between them, a nervous dancing around the subject that was clearly weighing on them both. Niall finally forced himself to confront it, after checking around to ensure no one else was nearby. “If…um…if I was to…say, perhaps, that ‘not himself’ didn’t exactly mean ‘unwell,’ but something a little more…dramatic…”
Monica’s eyes opened wide, and she seemed to almost fall over herself. “You don’t mean-! He’s…he’s changed? Into a…a sort of…man-dog thing?”
“It happened to you too!”
“God, I thought I was going crazy! I just woke up and…there he was! Never been so scared in my life! It’s so weird, he…he acts like he’s been this way for all his life, you’d never know it was just like a week ago!”
Niall nodded. “Just like Sam…did you…notice how weirdly missing all the animals around here are? Do you think…”
“You mean…” Monica suddenly looked stricken. “You don’t think…”
“I don’t know, and I’m not sure it’d be a good idea to ask, not just yet. But…I mean…if it’s not just one of us…”
“It could be more, yeah…maybe we should, uh, keep in touch, just in case, um, something goes wrong. I mean, I know I don’t know you that well, but if it is just us two…well, we’re gonna need to figure something out.”
“Yeah, I think…yeah, that sounds like a good idea.” Niall pulled out his phone, Monica hers, and they quickly plugged in each other’s number. “I’m, uh, glad I…ran into you today, I guess, though not literally. At least I know I’m not crazy…well, not the only crazy one, at least.”
“Yeah, same…uh, I should probably get going though, I don’t want to leave Bruno alone for too long. He’s still got a lot of energy, and…yeah.”
“Yeah, same with Sam. Thanks, though…I’ll, uh, I’ll be in touch.” Niall carefully stepped aside and let Monica pass. As he was about to start again, his nose caught whiff of an out-of-place scent…he couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but it had a weirdly familiar note to it. Shaking his head, he went on his way, stepping a bit more lively. He had more to think about, and an apology to give.
——
Things transpired fairly quickly as soon as Niall walked into the door. He’d scarcely taken a step away when he was rushed, and found himself pinned against the door by Sam. The canine was panting, tense, and, Niall quickly saw, already erect. He opened his mouth to say something, and immediately found it filled with Sam’s tongue, the canine giving him something of a kiss that Niall was in no way ready for. And now he was confused - was Sam still upset with him or not?
After a good bit, Sam pulled away, though only a little, his hot breath in Niall’s face. “Niall. I’m pent up. I need to do something. And right now…you’re the only thing to do.”
It felt like something in that murky fog between a request, a demand, and a declaration. And Niall found himself nodding before he could even really process whether that was a good idea. As soon as he did, he was hefted into Sam’s arms, the canine pausing only to lock the door before carrying Niall up to his bedroom. It halfway seemed like he didn’t even want to wait that long, but he was showing enough restraint, at least…still, Niall could swear he could feel the canine’s intensity and frustration. This wasn’t as much about sex as it was about Sam blowing off some steam after being cooped up for days. He hadn’t realized how bad it was getting…whatever happened here, maybe it would serve as a good reminder to him to be more attentive to that.
Once in the bedroom, Sam dropped Niall onto his bed. “Ngh…I’d love to just tear those off of you right now…I’ll try to hold myself back…but you probably shouldn’t keep me waiting.”
“Ah…okay.” Niall hastened to disrobe, realizing that he was cutting into some fairly fragile restraint. “I’m sorry…you’re right, I should have found a way to help you work of some energy. It’s been days, I had plenty of time to do that…and I shouldn’t have kept you cooped up inside.”
Sam nodded, but he still looked tense. “I hope you understand…I gotta move around. I need to get out and…do something, blow off steam, run around, just…something more than inside. I can’t do enough of that in here, it’s not enough, except, well, this.”
“I should have done more to help that…I’ll make it up to you. Maybe I’ll, uh…I’ll look into taking you out someplace where we’re outside all the time for a while. Like, uh, a…camping trip or something.” Niall hoped he wasn’t going to regret bringing that up - he wasn’t really a camper, but it was the first thing that he could think of that was just constantly outdoors for several days.
The last of his clothes hit the floor, and he braced himself as Sam pounced on him, pinning him under a couple hundred pounds of muscular husky. “Camping? Outside all the time? I like that! Rrr, maybe get to do a lot of this with you…”
“Ah…Sam…”
“Shh. My turn this time, Niall…I’m not gonna hurt you, I promise.” Sam lifted himself off of Niall, but only enough to turn the human around, so that he was on his stomach on the bed, his ass hanging right over the edge and his cock rubbed up against the corner, his legs dangling down and slightly splayed where they could hit the floor. Niall felt that hot, thick organ pushing against his rear, rubbing along the cleft of his ass…it felt like it was smeared with something wet, maybe Sam’s pre, how long had he been prepping himself? No amount of prepping seemed sufficient for something that size to be going into Niall, but it was out of his hands now…he just had to hope that the canine’s promise was well-founded. The tip of Sam’s cock finally found his pucker, pressing in just a little bit, and Niall braced himself for what was coming…
He wasn’t at all ready for Sam to drive in, several inches of dick piercing his rear in one fell swoop. He cried out as a surge of discomfort raced through him, but the real stunner was how quickly it ebbed…within just seconds it went from an intolerable ache to merely a very intense stretching in his rear. Now this he KNEW shouldn’t have been as easy to handle, maybe Sam could get away with it with Niall’s cock but on the other end, that monster really should have been agony.
Then again, if it decided it wasn’t going to be, Niall was hardly going to complain.
Sam gave him a little bit to get adjusted to what was in him, but not much longer than that. He pulled back a bit, then thrust again, getting a bit deeper, one hand on Niall’s shoulder pinning him to the bed, the other taking hold of his arm and keeping it in a tight grip, leaning down over the human as he bucked into him. Every thrust took Sam just a bit deeper, expanding the realm of the stretch to more untouched lands, each one giving the human a twinge of pain and then relaxing ever thereafter, like each little bit of him was being properly broken open. So it continued until Niall felt something thick tapping up against his rear end…that knot. Sam had explained a few things to him about it, and had made it very clear that Niall would get to feel what it was like for himself before too long…there was no doubt that that would be coming, but he wasn’t sure he was ready for it, it really was huge.
Sam wasn’t rushing it, though. Now that Niall was handling him as he wanted, he was starting to really buck in and out with more much intensity, his dick gushing precum that smeared all over Niall’s insides, making them feel hotter and wetter. That wasn’t all that was hot and wet, either…every now and then Sam would give Niall a lick on the back or side of the neck, making the human shudder and moan at the contact. The sheer power and energy of the canine was so different from the previous times they had coupled…for the first time, Niall truly felt that he wasn’t in control anymore, that Sam was the one in charge and he was along for the ride. And he’d never have been able to explain why, but somehow, he found it thrilling.
Over time, it got to feeling even better. Every thrust was a spike of pleasure within him, particularly the ones that mashed his prostate. It was rough, but far from violent, Sam was definitely not trying to hurt him, and everything he did felt good in some way, even if it was wilder than Niall was used to. His own cock was leaking profusely against his covers, his ass clenched around that girthy intruder mostly on pure reflex, and he couldn’t stop the moans or cries from escaping his mouth, breathless as they were. Every time he felt that hot breath on his neck, he tried to push into it, waiting for the tongue that might grace his flesh and send that shiver down his spine again. He almost forgot about what else was coming for him…
He was reminded in a hurry, though - the canine’s knot started to slam harder against him, and Niall couldn’t help but tense a bit as Sam did the same, his bucks becoming sharper and more forceful. Slowly, Niall felt his body start to give under the pressure, but Sam wasn’t sealing the deal, pulling back and letting that slight yield get a little more noticeable each time. It felt like not nearly enough on Niall’s end, but if it wasn’t, surely it would just end with that knot outside of him…but Sam seemed amply determined, and suddenly he was gripped tight, and Sam pulled him back into him as he gave one more thrust, along with which he almost snarled…and then Niall felt it, his body suddenly stretched more than ever, a sharp ache rising as his rear engulfed that knot and it locked deep inside. And then Sam outright howled, and Niall cried out, and both of them came hard, shooting off wildly, the human’s seed splashing against the covers and carpet while his body took in that hefty canine load that gushed deep inside his body, spreading that heat even deeper within him. It felt incredible, even if his ass was throbbing a bit around that fat knot that was stuck in him…the ache wasn’t enough to offset the wild pleasure of his climax, nor the bliss of that thick fluid spreading throughout his insides. He slumped down onto the bed, panting hard, just taking what Sam was giving him and enjoying every bit of it.
Soon enough, he felt Sam scoop him up into his arms and pull him close to his furry body, then drag Sam up onto the bed fully, bringing them up to the pillows. That knot was still stuck firmly inside Niall, and didn’t seem to be going anywhere…and he didn’t really have the energy to do anything about that. He heard Sam murmur “Love you, Niall…” into his ear, and that was all that his mind could think about until he drifted off, still stuffed to the brim and once again satisfied on a deep level, one that he wondered how he’d ever gone without…

[“We’re still trying to understand what happened,” stated Dr. Franklin Russoe, a veterinary expert at the University of Virginia. “The only things we have so far are observable fact and conjecture.”
Russoe believes the phenomenon is too targeted to be a random event. “Nearly all tetrapod animals kept as pets were changed. Based on reports we’ve been able to gather, roughly a third of zoo animals were similarly affected. We’re also guessing that a percentage of fully wild animals was affected, but at the moment it’s impossible to deliver a concrete number - it is most likely less than five percent, but we can’t say beyond that. We’ve had a few reports of aquatic mammals and aquatic non-mammals from the wild, but none from pets so far, and no reports of non-vertebrates. But information is still being gathered, the network failures have dramatically slowed reporting.”
While there is no indication that the newly-altered animals are a specific threat, Russoe cautions that pet owners seem to be susceptible to certain influences. This has also been suggested by Dr. Amos Browning, an animal behavior psychologist and a colleague of Dr. Russoe.
“We’ve noticed that the pet owners who’ve owned a changed animal seem to experience an altered relationship with that animal. To this point, our primary observation is a marked degree of deference to the former pet animal that seems to be rather precise to that particular relationship, with increased intensity based on the number of pets. There may be other significant changes as well, but those will take time to identify and quantify.”]
There was more to the article, but Niall had read enough for the time being. Now that things were back online, he had been able to confirm that his strange experience with Sam was in fact a widespread phenomenon. The whys and hows of the matter were still a complete mystery, but pretty much everyone was positing that it was related to the global network disruption. Aliens were the most commonly highlighted culprit, but as usual, evidence was lacking…though, in this case, evidence for anything else was also lacking. The only lingering sign of what had happened was the sudden population of human-like animals.
As far as Niall was concerned, though, that was a mystery for someone else. All he had needed to know was that he didn’t have to worry about Sam being seen as some unique aberration - everyone else was dealing with the same thing with their pets. Well, in some ways the same thing…he wasn’t sure how many of them were in active sexual relationships with their former pets. But maybe more than he would have thought, if most people were experiencing a shift like he did with Sam. The ‘deference’ part was pretty evident to him - it wasn’t like he was unwaveringly obedient to Sam, but Niall sometimes found himself having trouble resisting the husky’s whims and desires, for reasons he couldn’t really articulate. Not to mention Sam’s seemingly boundless energy, which was almost like a vortex from which Sam couldn’t easily escape, and particularly when there was a part of him that didn’t want to, even when sense told him he should.
And, if he was being honest, he was more and more fine with that by the day. Sam had always been a positive presence in his life, but he was more so now than ever, pushing him a bit beyond his previous boundaries and making him see that it wasn’t all that bad. So maybe he was a little bit more easily pushed into things than he would have been, so what? Sam wasn’t malicious, he didn’t want to hurt Niall, and it wasn’t like he couldn’t ever assert himself, he just had a little more immediate inclination to go with Sam’s flow. There was nothing wrong with that, and it helped him enjoy himself a little bit more.
Though, it did mean he had a vulnerability to Sam’s eagerness, on occasion…
“When are we going camping?!”
“Gah!” Sam’s voice from right behind him made Niall jump. “Sam! Don’t startle me like that!”
“Sorry! I’m just excited!” Clearly, by the way that tail was wagging.
“It’s not something we can just do whenever and wherever, we have to be prepared for it. Plus, I have to find a place where we can go, and right now nothing’s open because they’re still dealing with all the fallout of that…whatever happened.”
“C’mon, can’t we just go anywhere? There’s a whole wide world out there!”
“Yes, and quite a lot of it is covered by trespassing laws. I promised, and we will. Just…be patient, okay.”
“Fine. But in exchange for being patient, it’s gonna be a naked camping trip.”
Niall flushed, putting him at a disadvantage for trying to pretend that wasn’t a hot idea, at least in theory. “Sam…I can’t just go around naked anywhere I want. There’s gonna be other people around most places…”
In response to this, furry arms wrapped around Niall, and he got a lick on the face. “Well, I’m sure you can find a place that has more privacy…and now that I’ve said it, maybe you’ll be more…inclined to.” Chuckling a bit, the husky stood back upright. “I’m gonna run around in back a while.”
“Ah, okay…well, I’ll, uh, I’ll join you in a bit.” Niall sighed a bit and closed the browser window. He’d go look into campsites a little later…and try to pretend like he wasn’t going to be influenced by the husky’s suggestions. Then again, maybe it would be kind of fun…
