Cynder walked out of the kitchen with a plate full of steaks. The boys all jumped up and set the table, then everyone sat down.

“So, what were you boys talking about?" Ember asked.

“Hatchling colors, and the possibility of having Michael help us train them to fight and use their powers." Mark replied calmly. “Oh, and the fact that most of the participants of this egg year, at least in this friend group, are all extremely powerful, and will likely have powerful kids."

The girls froze, each of them looked over at their mates.

“It's true, there are only four normal dragons here." Flame added.

“Who's normal?" Layla asked, walking through the front door.

“You, Camry, Ember, and I, we are the only ones with the base elements." Flame answered.

Layla nuzzled Camry for a quick moment, before sitting down and looking at the rest of the group.

“What are we talking about?" She whispered to her mate.

“Hatchlings." He replied.

Layla turned and smiled. “You all excited."

They all nodded, smiling. “A new age of dragons, and a new age for our lives."

“Toast to our new lives." Mark raised his glass.

They all cheered, and clinked their glasses.

“Mph." Cynder set her glass down. “I just realized I won't be able to drink wine for a while."

“Right." Ember groaned. “Better enjoy it while we can."

They ate their meal, talking about random things, like nesting material and food to stock up on. Michael joined them at one point, and was answering most of their questions.

“The size of our homes will become an issue." Michael. “Especially when they become teens, I recommend everybody move to the elemental palace, but that's just me."

“But what about our homes?" Layla asked.

“You can stay in them for a few years, but if you have another clutch, you're going to want it in a bigger area." Michael answered.

“How do people normally do it?" Spyro asked.

“Normally, clutches would share rooms, their entire lives, or until they get a mate and their own house. But you are all royalty, that means that each child should get their own room, when they want it. Also, you guys are having kids younger than usual, only five years, but usually royal pairs would spend a while in their homes before getting a bigger one for their kids, if they move out of the palace at all, which is the case more often than not."

“Were having ours younger than usual?" Cynder asked.

“Egg years can do that, but if you all think you're ready, then you're ready. Another reason would be that because you all have experienced so much at a young age; you matured much faster. All of you have already had so many adventures, that you feel satisfied enough to settle down and have kids, which makes sense." Michael smiled at them. “Your parents only stayed here for three years before they decided to have kids." He nodded at Spyro and Cynder

They nodded and looked around the table.

“We have one more issue to deal with before the season starts, or nothing will get done." Michael added. “Not including the ascension."

They looked over at him, confused.

“The resurrection."

Spyro and Cynder cleaned off their table.

“It was nice to have company." Cynder spoke, smirking. “Even if the egg year was the only thing we really talked about."

Spyro nodded. “The peace was nice, but I like this better."

They sat down on the couch, and each summoned a book to read. Cynder couldn't focus on hers, and contented herself by laying against her mate and staring off into space. They relaxed for a few hours, before Spyro turned and gave her a worried look.

“You okay?" He asked

“I'm fine, just thinking about my mom." Cynder sighed. “I wonder how she will feel about me."

“She'll love you, you're her daughter." Spyro replied, nuzzling her.

“I know, but I'm still worried she won't like who I am."

“Nonsense" He shook his head. “You are who you are, she will love you for who you are."

She smiled and looked over at him. “You always know just what to say."

Spyro smiled back. “I learned it from Volteer."

They looked out the window and noticed Camry and Layla walk out of their house in full armor, Michael joined them, and they both flew off.

“The first group." Spyro spoke.

“What do you think about this whole immortality thing?" Cynder asked him.

“I don't really know, it's hard to imagine. Living forever, leaving this dimension?"

“Yeah, but we get to join the ML, and explore countless dimensions."

“That sounds nice, especially with you."

Spyro looked over at her, and smiled.

“And our friends will be with us." He added.

Cynder nodded, and looked out the window. “I'm more worried about the ones we won't have with us."

“I suspect our children will want to stay as well." Spyro replied “But they will join us eventually."

Cynder smiled and shook her head. “The way you all talk about them, as if they're already here."

Spyro turned. “I know, it messes with me too, but I just can't wait."

“We'll, we have to, but not for much longer." Cynder replied. “We still have to ascend, and resurrect our parents."

Spyro chuckled. “Just a normal situation, nothing unusual here."

“What do you mean?"

“I'm a purple dragon, and we have traveled to different dimensions, fought powerful evils, trained with the most powerful being like, ever. All that was after I saved you from corruption, then the planet from being destroyed. Now were going to become immortal, then bring our parents back from something that isn't exactly death, but is pretty close. And that's not all, then, were going to have children, all in the span of a few years."

“When you put it that way…"

“It's not bad, don't think that I don't like it, I can't wait to see my parents, then our hatchlings. But Flame's not wrong, we are very far from normal."

“They aren't normal either."

“They are more normal than the rest of us; we are a concentration of rare elements. Aether, Dark, Star, Soul, Poison, Moon, these are all very powerful."

“Which is probably why Michael is here."

“He likes to create groups of friends and family that can take care of each other in case he has to leave."

Cynder nodded. “Makes sense."

“We have to run some errands, there is practically nothing here."

“Yeah, but I don't really want to go into the crowd right now."

“I'll go tomorrow, you can stay." Spyro got up. “Jeez, it's like three in the morning, this party went on for a while."

Cynder nuzzled her mate, then they walked into their bedroom and quickly fell asleep.

Cynder woke to the morning sun flashing through the curtains, Spyro was gone, but Cynder knew where he went. A strange bump, followed by a curse, caused Cynder to perk up. She heard some angry whispering, and got up to investigate. She walked through the hall and into the living room with an angry snarl on her face, wondering who would dare come uninvited into her home. A flash of yellow appeared and squeaked at her.

“Don't hurt me." He yelled, flying back and away from her.

“Oh, it's just you." She rolled her eyes, then smiled at Spyro's foster parents.

They looked tired, and Nina was holding an orange blur in her hands.

“Hi sweetie." Nina greeted her. “Sorry, did we wake you?"

“Yeah, but it's fine, when did you guys get here?"

“An hour or so ago." Flash told her.

“Where's Eggplant?" Sparx asked.

“Eggplant? Really?" Cynder shot him a look. “I swear, if you make fun of him in front of our children…"

“Don't worry, I'll try to control myself around the kids." Sparx chuckled “Until then though…"

“You haven't been doing that very well so far." June cut him off. “So, I wouldn't get my hopes up."

“Speaking of which." Nina cleared her throat. “Meet Jenny."

Cynder looked at the small orange blur, when Nina brought her close to the black dragon, it yawned and stretched, opening its eyes. Jenny immediately smiled when she saw Cynder.

“We were hoping for a daughter." Nina explained.

Sparx snorted. “So, where is Grape?"

“Running errands, he should be back shortly." Cynder replied, stepping back and sitting down on the couch.

“Good, your kitchens bare." Sparx replied.

“Sparx and I came by when she hatched." Flash told her. “But I guess in all the excitement we forgot that you were busy."

There was a knock at the door, and Cynder opened it. Layla, Ember, Aura, and Star where all standing there.

“What's… Going on?" Cynder asked, looking around the square.

“We're going on a girl's night. I managed to drag Trice, Nebula, Effie, and even Bea into coming with us, so you are too." Layla told her. “When the sun sets, you better be ready."

Cynder blinked “Uhm…"

“This was not a request." Aura replied, and laughed. “You're coming."

Cynder laughed. “Of course, just not used to being invited to do things with friends."

“Then you better get used to it, because this group is going to stick together." Aura replied

“The soon-to-be-pregnant ladies!" Star cheered, shaking her hips. “We have to stay together, it's way better when you're not alone."

They started to walk away.

“Except for Trice and Bea." Ember called.

“Right, though Bea already has eggs." Star replied.

Cynder shook her head in bemusement, and closed the door.

“Excitement over the egg year?" June asked.

“Yeah, it's on all of our minds, even though it's still a little way away." Cynder answered

“It's not that far away."

Cynder nodded. “We have other things that need to be taken care of."

“Right, yeah." June rubbed the back of her head, and looked over at Sparx.

“What about you." Cynder lowered her voice. “When are you two planning on having some of your own."

June blushed. “The plan is next year, but we'll see." Then flew off in a hurry.

Cynder smirked and sat back down on the couch. She watched as Nina flew into their guest room to let Jenny finish her nap.

“What's taking Fig so long?" Sparx groaned. “I haven't seen him in like, forever."

“This makes me feel so loved." Cynder replied sarcastically.

“Sorry sweetie, were a bit tired." Nina replied. “And well, Sparx is Sparx."

June snorted, and looked over at the yellow blur, pacing by the door. “You can say that again."

Cynder smiled, and set her head down for a nap. She woke up to the sounds of familiar voices, and sighed, enjoying the warmth. Spyro must have returned, because she was curled up against him, his wing serving as a warm blanket as she napped. She opened her eyes and yawned, Nina was sitting on the couch across from them, absently playing with Jenny as she talked with Spyro. Flash, Sparx, and June were playing cards on the dining table.

“…raising a dragon and a dragonfly at the same time though, whew, and you weren't even the problem." Nina spoke.

“How was I when I was very young?" Spyro asked.

“You were mostly silent, content with cuddling up with one of us for the first few years. We made sure you got plenty to eat and were learning as much as you could. After that, you were always nice and careful, making sure to be safe. But your kids will likely be different, since they are going to be raised in a big house." Nina answered.

Spyro nodded. “I would like for you guys to be close, but I know you don't want to move so soon."

“We want to move; we just want to wait a year or so before we do that. We'll make sure to be here when your eggs are lain, and when they hatch, but other than that, you won't really want us intruding for a while." Nine replied.

“Don't say that…"

“It's true though, for the first year, your instincts will only be comfortable when it's just you guys and your kids, without anyone else. We will come visit of course, but we won't be staying for longer periods of time." Nina cut him off. “And with Cynder's… feelings, I would say that she doesn't want to be around too many people even now."

“That's not true." Cynder replied. “I'm fine with some people, just not crowds, or anybody on Genrir."

“And you have good reason, they still are trying to rally everybody to arrest you, though it will never happen." Nina replied. “Don't feel bad, they are just too stubborn and stuck in their ways."

“Yeah, there's even a petition out to take your eggs when you have them." Sparx added.

Everybody froze, except for June, who slapped Sparx.

“Ow, what?" He groaned, then looked around the room, noticing the angry stares. “Oh."

“They WHAT?" Spyro yelled, turning back to his foster mom.

“Now, don't do anything rash honey." She replied.

“Who?"

Nina just shook her head, Spyro turned to Sparx.

“WHO?"

“Just a group of people that have collected just outside of Warfang, apparently they all have lost loved ones by her hand, nothing to worry about, they can't do anything." Sparx replied, raising his hands.

Cynder could feel the pure rage radiating off of her mate. “Honey, calm down, they can't do anything. That petition is illegal, and won't pass."

“I won't stand by and let laws depict whether or not we keep our own eggs." Spyro got up and walked into their bedroom. “I can't believe they would have the AUDACITY."

“They have no way of enforcing it, nor any power to even call that petition real." Cynder called back to him.

“Now look what you did." June admonished Sparx, who looked over at Cynder apologetically.

“I didn't think he would freak out like this, honestly, I just thought it would tick him off a little."

“Whatever, I told you to stop teasing him, his instincts aren't going to let him just sit there." Cynder replied.

“I told you the same thing; especially when it comes to mates and children, drakes will do anything to get rid of even the most far-fetched of threats." Flash added.

Spyro walked, fully armored, out of the bedroom and out the front door.

“Spyro, wait!" Cynder called.

He stopped and looked back at her. “Stay here, I'll deal with this."

“There's no need, this should be something I deal with, because it's all my fault." Cynder replied.

Spyro shook his head, and smiled. “Cynder, you're my mate, remember? Anything that bothers you bothers me, and I will deal with it all."

Flame, Mark, and Camry walked out of their houses, wearing their armor.

“What's going on?" Flame asked Spyro. “You said this was something about Warfang?"

“A group of people just started a petition to get mine and Cynder's eggs removed from us. You are either going to make them get rid of it and never bother us again, or I will deal with it in a less friendly matter."

Mark and Camry stood straight up, understanding the seriousness of the situation.

Sam appeared next to them. “Guy's night! Let's go smash some skulls."

Cynder raised an eybrow at him.

“What? You girls go and get spa treatments and try out makeup and jewelry and stuff, we go and kill things and or drink, this is the way." Sam smiled.

Flame shot him a look. “Those things are dragons."

Sam's face fell. “I thought this was about the eldritch nest."

“Eldritch nest? What eldritch nest? Is there and eldritch nest near Warfang?" Flame replied.

“Not for much longer, Michael's dealing with it. Why are we fighting dragons?"

“We'll tell you on the way." Spyro cut them off. “Let's go."

Cynder watched Spyro open a portal, and step through it. The other's followed hurriedly, exchanging worried glances. She walked back into the house, sighing and shaking her head.

“I always have to cause problems, don't I?"

“Please, your mated with Spyro, he's a problem magnet." Sparx replied.

“He really is, isn't he? I cause them, and he gets involved."

“What else do you expect him to do? Sit by and hope nobody tries to act on their words?" Sparx laughed. “Spyro is a lot of things, but a coward ain't one of them."
