Michael walked out into the square, and looked out at the children playing. Amber and Sophia were chatting lightly in a corner, watching their kids. He nodded to them and took flight. Amber turned and gave Sophia a confused look.

“He's looking for eldritch terrors, the nest was opened, and they got out." Sophia explained.

“Was anybody hurt?" Amber asked.

“Fifteen people died, thirty-two injured, so far."

Amber cringed. “How dangerous are they?"

“Very, I've once seen one of them take out an entire village."

Amber turned to her children, and sighed. “Ancient evils, something I never wanted them to be hatched into."

“Life lives in balance, for every good thing there is an evil one." Sophia replied.

Amber nodded.

“The best thing we can do is protect them" She added “From both."

Ember yawned, and looked up from her papers.

“I wonder what Spyro and Cynder are doing." She stated.

“Probably just curled up, reading a bunch of books in the main archive." Flame replied.

The generals and representatives sitting with them looked up, before returning to their work. Ember looked around the council room, then back to Flame.

“Probably enjoying the quiet." She mumbled.

Flame looked up from a map he was studying. “What do you say we take the day off, were not needed here, right?"

The others nodded.

“Your good for quite a while, it's been unusually peaceful on the government side of things." A general told them.

Flame nodded and led Ember out of the room.

“Let's head back to Faun, relax, and take a minute for ourselves." He nuzzled her.

She nodded, and they walked to the portal room. They returned to Faun and stepped out into the square, watching the kids play. Ember smiled at the sight, before they both took flight. They landed in next to a lake not far from the city walls and noticed that Aura and Sam were already there.

“Guess they had the same idea." Flame spoke, smirking.

The two swimming dragons looked over and smiled.

“Come on in, the water's fine." Aura called.

They smiled and jumped in, they swam and splashed around for a while, before settling down and sunbathing on the pebbly beach.

“How's the royal work." Aura asked.

“Boring, nothing's happening, and the people keep insisting that they see us, because we should let every detail of our personal lives be known. The number of times someone has asked me if I was pregnant makes me want to crawl into a hole and die." Ember groaned

“Oof, that sucks." Sam replied.

“I heard Cynder has it worse. Nobody really talks to her personally but everybody keeps talking about if she is or not, constantly. There are monthly magazines that ask the same question over and over." Flame added.

“We get those too." Aura chuckled.

Flame and Ember looked over in surprise.

“Really, we do. I'm Michael's daughter, the entirety of the ML is constantly writing about me. You should have seen the ones they made when they found out about me and Sam." She chuckled.

“Is it bad?" Flame asked.

“Not bad per say, but very interesting, we don't tell them much, so they make up stories that make sense to them. But they take what they know and just repeat it constantly. Were celebrities in the ML, not just us two, but Spyro, Cynder, Nebula, Ethan, and any of my adopted brothers and sisters." Aura answered.

Ember nodded and looked back over at Flame. “I guess we have it easy then."

Aura chuckled. “I didn't say that, we don't have to be around those that worship us."

“Good point." Ember replied.

They laid there for a while, before Aura and Sam got up and left, and soon after, Ember and Flame followed.

Layla and Camry walked through the main street of their city. They smiled and talked to many of the civilians that were running errands, or just wandering around. An elderly dragoness walked up to them and smiled.

“I love it when the royals come down and talk with us, it always makes me feel special." She mumbled.

“That's why we come out here, we wanted to hear from the people we work to protect." Layla smiled.

“And what about you? How have you two been?" She replied. “Any word on the next generation?"

Layla blushed. “None yet."

The elderly blue head nodded. “Just checking."

They smiled as the dragoness walked away. Then they continued their walk. After a while they reached the main square of the city. Many dragons cheered at their arrival and waved at them. They waved back and talked to a bunch of people. A group of children ran up to them, smiling and giggling.

“Hi there, little ones." Aura greeted them.

“Your so pretty." A little dragoness replied.

“Aww, thank you, your pretty too." Aura replied.

The dragoness blushed and backed off.

“Aren't you supposed to be in school." Camry asked.

“It's a holiday, we're celebrating her hatchday, don't you know that?" a blue drake asked.

Layla froze, and Camry slowly turned to her, giving her a cold gaze.

“I never really told him that." Layla admitted. “Everybody makes such a big deal about it."

The children giggled, and Layla motioned them to run off. They did so, still laughing and smiling.

“It's your hatchday, no wonder everybody is so nice to you." Camry stated

Layla blushed. “Okay, it just might have happened on the same day a certain thousand-year war ended, and was seen as a good omen. A really god omen, so they just celebrate the day, and I suspect they always will."

Camry smiled. “All this time of pestering you, and all I had to do was ask any one of the people that live here."

She looked away, still blushing. “Let's go home, before the party starts."

“Oh, I see, you just want to get this done quick before they start really celebrating." Camry replied.

“I've been forced to sit and watch people celebrate me all my life, I want to go home, and spend the rest of the day together."

Camry nodded, and they flew back to the palace.

Michael landed in the middle of a forest, and looked around. He could sense the eldritch terror nearby, and altered his magic to draw it. A few minutes passed, before he heard the voice of a boy nearby.

“Come play with me." It called

Michael did nothing.

“I'm over here." It called again.

Suddenly a small wolf pup appeared in front of him. He was clearly surprised that the creature in front of him was a dragon, but didn't let it show.

“Hello, ethrusphmer." Michael spoke.

The pup recoiled and winced. “So, you found me."

“It wasn't hard, you left traces of your power all over the scene." Michael replied.

The pup smiled. “Haven't been feared in a while, it felt good."

Michael shook his head. “Time for you to disappear."

The pup vanished, and a massive tentacle covered creature appeared. Before the strange creature could move, Michael held out a black gem. The creature screeched and screamed, but Michael tossed the gem and it struck it directly in what should have been its chest. The creature exploded in a puff of black smoke, which was then sucked into the gem itself. Michael calmly walked over and picked up the gem. Then he took flight, and made his way back to Faun. He only flew for a moment before he received a fire letter. He grabbed it and read it, before vanishing. He appeared in a new terrain, on a new planet, and landed in an old city. The city had been attacked, some houses were burning, and there were cries and screams everywhere. Michael flicked his wrist, putting out all of the fires, then walked over to a large building in the center. Four soldiers nodded at his arrival and motioned for him to go inside. He walked through the door and up to a general, who sat silently, with a frown on his face.

“What exactly happened here?" Michael asked him. “Eldritch forces, doesn't exactly describe anything."

“Some unknown collection of eldritch puppets." The general told him. “They tore through the village as if it offended them in every way. Everybody they came in contact with they fought, and the guards only managed to take out a small percentage."

Michael looked over at a bundle lying in the corner. “An egg."

The general nodded, looking down. “Its parents died, some of the first, this is the only orphaned egg, though there were many deaths."

Michael lifted the blanket, exposing a dark blue egg. “It's mine now."

The general lifted an eyebrow. “Really? Another one?"

“Yes, I would like the one I already have to have a sibling. It is always better raising more than one."

Michael picked up the egg and looked back to the general. “Secure the city, and if you have even the slightest bit of evidence that says they might return, evacuate the city and lure them into a trap."

The general nodded, and Michael walked out into the city street.

“Another egg, another fight, this never ends, does it?" He spoke, turning to the guards.

“I've noticed that too. There is supposed to be a break, but I don't think it will ever truly end." One replied.

“Somebody is controlling these puppets, it's not the Dark One. Somebody probably found these. Didn't this city have an old blood feud with another one not far from here."

“I think so, but it must have ended a few hundred years ago." The guard answered.

“Go to that city, and scan everybody. You will likely find the culprit there, and when you do, he will fight back with every puppet he can. So, take a lot of forces with you." He told the guard

He nodded, and returned to his position. Michael opened a portal and rushed through it. Aura watched her father run through and into his house. She followed him and watched him enter the nest room.

“What's going on?" She asked.

Bea opened her eyes and looked over at Michael, and smiled.

“Another egg for the clutch." Michael told her.

Aura gasped as he pulled out a blue egg and set it next to the red one.

“Another girl."

“Another girl?" Bea replied. “Seems like Deja Vue."

Aura smiled at her mother. “He keeps finding them."

“Do you see me complaining, whenever I feel sad about Trice or Junior going out on their own, I help Michael raise others." Bea replied, yawning.

“I haven't seen you in days." Aura replied.

“Been busy, guarding." Bea told her. “Come, lay with me."

Aura blushed, and curled up next to her mother. Michael nuzzled his daughter for a moment, before stepping out of the room.

“I heard that you are participating in the egg year." Bea told her.

Aura ducked, blushing more. “Uhm, yeah, we were planning on it."

“You'll be a good mother." Bea replied

Aura smiled. “I can't wait."

“Get used to this, because after you lay, this will be your life for a while, but worse." Bea smirked.

“What?"

“You won't be letting Sam leave your sight, and you won't like leaving the nest for longer than five minutes. Don't get me started on the nesting."

Sam walked into the room and greeted the dragonesses. Aura motioned for him to relax with them, and he collapsed around her.

“Why are the markets here so exhausting?" He asked.

“They have to be large to sustain the whole city." Bea explained. “I know you are used to a small tribe, but this is how cities work."

Sam nodded, lowered his head with a yawn, and quickly fell asleep. Aura watched her mate for a while.

“How does he feel about children?" Bea asked.

“He is very excited, but also very worried because he doesn't have a clue on raising children in a city." Aura replied. “But he loves the idea."

“We'll both of you, and your children, will be immortal. So, that makes things much easier. Mistakes aren't that big when your children can't be hurt." Bea chuckled. “You should have seen Trice; once she accidently fell off a cliff, and then got mad and vaporized it."

“She was feisty when she was young." Aura laughed.

“Very, if anybody gave her the wrong look, she would send them somewhere cold."

“I can hear you talking about me." Trice walked into the room. “I don't like it much."

“Where have you been?" Bea replied “You keep hopping off the planet."

“I'm getting the final ingredients for the resurrection." She told them. “I just finished, we are ready to start when Spyro and Cynder return."

Bea nodded and smiled. “Just in time to see their grandchildren."

Trice laughed. “Young adult dragons with grandchildren, last time that happened was the Emdos incident."

“Which one was that again?" Aura asked.

“A bunch of time warps caused dragons to vanish and reappear in different points of time." Trice explained. “Sometimes they were just trapped, while many others were sent to the future."

Aura nodded. “I hate time travel."

“Yeah, it's pretty annoying." Trice nodded. “Doing it is worse."

Bea lowered her head and fell asleep, and Trice walked away, and into her bedroom.

Star opened her eyes and groaned, her the sun on her face only made her headache worse. Mark was still asleep, mumbling softly into her neck. They had been up all night, partying and dancing, and they might have drunk a bit too much wine. Star untangled herself from her mate, causing him to groan and open his eyes.

“Come back, no go." He mumbled.

She kissed him. “It's almost noon."

“And?" He yawned. “We don't have to do anything today."

“I don't want to waste the day away, let's just get up and eat something."

Mark got up and stretched, several of his bones popping in his wings. They walked into their kitchen and cooked a quick meal.

“Haven't seen the two royals lately." Mark spoke.

“They left, remember, to go research something in another dimension." Star told him.

“Oh, right." He chuckled. “Forgot about that, they must be really busy."

“Not if their going to do the egg year with us. They should be settling soon." Star smiled. “Like us, I think we should stop the parties."

“Your probably right, I regret that extra bottle of wine." Mark replied.

Star laughed, and they ate their meal.

“What do you want to do today?" Mark asked.

“I don't know, maybe we can go to the markets, and check some stuff out." Star shrugged

They walked out of the house, and watched as Asher and Fletcher landed in the square. Fletcher shot them a dirty look before walking into their guest house, but Asher smiled and walked up to them.

“Hi" He greeted the two black dragons.

“Hey, I don't believe we've met." Mark replied.

“Apologies, my name is Asher, the other dragon you saw was my brother, Fletcher. Nice to meet you…"

“Mark, and this is my mate, Star." Mark smiled. “Prince of Faun, is it?"

“The heir, yes." Asher nodded.

“I heard you were here to participate in the royal parties in hopes of finding a mate." Star raised an eyebrow. “How's that going."

“It's good, I met someone, and were really connecting." Asher replied, cleverly hiding his slight blush.

“And your brother." Star chuckled.

“He met a Draconia, she likes him, so it's probably definite." Asher answered.

“A Draconia?" Mark cocked his head.

“Oh, right, they are a very old family that focuses solely on beauty. Their children choose their mates very carefully. I guess my brother fits the requirements for the fire element section of the family." Asher shook his head, chuckling. “Whatever that means."

Star looked back out into the square, watching Michael leave his house and take flight.

“He is always doing something." Star mumbled.

The two boys followed her gaze.

“Oh, him, yeah, I noticed that too." Asher replied.

They heard a feminine call, and a grey dragoness landed in the square. Asher ran up to her, laughing.

“Gabby? I said tomorrow, I thought you were busy today."

“I got let off early, lets do it today." She replied

They both took off, laughing.

“Ah, to be young again." Mark sighed.

“Were the same age as them." Star slapped him with her wing. “I bet you mean 'to be single again'"

Mark feigned shock. “I would never, I can't even remember not being mated to you."

Star sensed the pure honesty under the sarcastic remark.

“Alright then, let's go."

They took off, and made their way to the nearest market. The markets always dazzled them, hundreds of people, crowded around dozens of stalls. Shouts and smells filled the cramped street, as people sold wares of all kinds to buyers. Mark quickly found the stall that had some supplies they needed, and walked over to haggle prices. Star looked over and noticed a shop filled with children's toys. She looked over the elaborately carved pieces for a while before the elderly owner of the shop approached her.

“Mother to be? Or a gift for another." The old wolf asked.

“Former, but I have no idea what I'm doing."

“That's more common than you expect, young mothers are always inexperienced."

“What should I get?"

“I assume that black male over there is your mate?" The elderly wolf pointed

“Yes, that's him."

“Then your almost guaranteed to have many black hatchlings."

The wolf walked back into the back of the store, and returned with a box of special toys designed for dragons with the dark element.

“They will love these." The wolf told her.

She smiled and grabbed the box, then handed the wolf a bag of coins.

“This is too much." The wolf said immediately.

“Take it, as a thank you." Star smiled.

The wolf nodded, and Star put the box in her storage and walked out. Mark walked up to her and noticed the look on her face.

“What did you get?" Mark asked

“Just some toys, for the kids." She replied nonchalantly.

Mark smiled, and nodded, they kept walking down the street.
