“Hey, where have you been?" Michael asked Onyx.

“Effie and I flew really far away to a random forest and enjoyed each other's company for a while." He answered

“You know it's an egg year, right?" Michael replied

“I figured as much, but I feel weird about having children, and having them grow up with one of my descendants they would call their aunt." Onyx admitted.

“You think that's weird, imagine what their parents will think when they get brought back and immediately get grandchildren, weird is going to be a normal thing here." Michael laughed.

“That's a good point, and Effie was mentioning how she wanted more children." Onyx replied.

Michael nodded, and watched as two young, black dragons walked by, holding tails.

“Young love is definitely alive here. Wait, is that Star and Mark? I haven't seen them since their ceremony. I wonder what they think about the egg year?" Michael spoke

“The community around here knows about it, so I expect they do as well." Onyx added

“Star is a royal, and she lives right next to Ember, so maybe they will also join the group." Michael replied.

“I've seen them talking a lot." Onyx looked back to Michael “Ember seems to like her."

Michael nodded “And then we should take everybody, and move them to the palace when the hatchlings get bigger."

Onyx recoiled “Really? I haven't been to the palace in a long time."

Michael laughed and shook his head “It's not the dark temple, you don't have to be afraid of it."

Onyx chuckled and walked away, giving him a sidelong glare every once in a while. Michael turned and walked in the same direction as the two earlier dragons.

Spyro woke and jerked his head up, he was laying around Cynder and there was a strange yellow crystal next to the bed.

“You need to learn to relax." Cynder told him. “This is the third time you have burnt yourself out, and this is the worst time."

Spyro sighed “I know, but I need to help people."

There was a knock on the door and Cynder yelled that is was open.

Nuri walked into the house and walked up to the bedroom.

“You can come in." Cynder called again.

“Hi there, Michael told me what happened." Nuri greeted them.

“I lost my energy when I changed forms, and I didn't rest. I need to go in a minute and finish the selection." Spyro told her.

“First, I need to tell you something; Spyro, your father had the same issues when he was young, but you need to calm down, Providence will likely be your last adventure for a while, so you need to learn to care only for your friends and family. This year is an egg year, so I know you will be joining in on it, but that will be different, your instincts will give you strength and energy. But now I want you to learn to forget about everybody. The only people that should matter to you are those close to you. I know this sounds bad, but you have done enough for everybody, now is for you. You will be fighting evil again in your future, that's what your next trip is for, but you have peace now, and Michael will protect it." Nuri looked at the two mates with loving eyes. “And I can not wait to meet my great-grandchildren, they are going to be adorable."

They both blushed, Spyro coughed and got up, he picked up the yellow crystal and absorbed its energy, then kissed Cynder. He quickly nuzzled Nuri and rushed out of the house. Nuri turned back and nuzzled Cynder a bit, she blushed at the affection and smiled at her. She nuzzled her harder and made her laugh.

“You need to make him relax, and the only way you can do that is make him focus on you. You won't have a problem with that when you get pregnant." She told her.

“He already does that, a bit too much for me." Cynder replied.

Nuri smiled, and went back to her nuzzling. Cynder recoiled slightly, which made Nuri flinch.

“I'm sorry, I was too forward." Nuri stepped back.

“NO! Don't be sorry, I'm not used to this kind of affection, even my grandparent's affection made me a little nervous, I have to get used to it, especially from our parents when they are brought back, so don't hold back." Cynder replied.

Nuri smiled and sat down next to her.

“I'm happy for Spyro, he gets you, and you get him. You look beautiful together."

Cynder smiled back, and looked away shyly.

“Where are your grandparents?" Nuri asked

“They have been spending time alone together deep in some woods pretty far from here." Cynder answered

Nuri nodded “That makes sense."

Spyro landed back at the academy, and walked over to the personal dojo. Even though the session didn't even start yet, Mary and the children were already there with the trainees. Spyro smiled at the kids and invited them into the dojo.

“Now children, Spyro needs complete silence while training the last three competitors. Maybe, if Spyro has time, he will answer some questions after he has finished." Mary told them.

Spyro turned and looked at the final three, he nodded to one and they entered the dojo. Spyro proceeded to test the three fire dragons. When he had finished, he turned to the class and answered some of their questions, but were interrupted by a loud bell ringing through the entire academy. Mary led the kids and Spyro back to the main grounds, and Spyro flew up and landed on the main platform.

“Have you made your decision?" Terrador asked him

“I have." Spyro answered confidently.

The guardians nodded, and Michael landed next to them.

“Time to get this done." He huffed

“Yeah, the beds here aren't very good for older bodies." Cyril mumbled

Michael chuckled and turned to the crowd. “Hello, you all have spent the last six days testing for important roles as the element guardians. They have made their decisions, and you four will be trained for the next year in Warfang by many fitting tutors. First, we will start with fire. The fire guardian sadly passed on almost two years ago, and Spyro has been chosen to fill his place in this ceremony. Spyro, representative of the fire guardian, who have you chosen?"

Spyro stepped forward and smiled “I chose Jennifer, you will make a great guardian, use your role well."

Jennifer walked out from the rest of the group and bowed, nose touching the ground. Then looked up at him with a confused expression, before walking to the side of arena.

“Volteer, electric guardian, who have you chosen?"

Volteer stepped forward. “I have studied greatly and have undoubtedly decided that the person that best fits this role is Josh."

Grace cheered. “That's my mate!"

Josh stepped forward and blushed when she heard Grace's proud call. He bowed and stepped next to Jennifer.

“I think Michael's spell is wearing off of Volteer" Cyril mumbled

Michael slapped the back of his head with his tailblade.

“Terrador, earth guardian, who have you chosen?"

“I have selected Cade" Terrador grunted.

Another cheer, as a grey dragon stood with the other new guardians.

“And Cyril, ice guardian, who have you chosen?"

Cyril mumbled something unintelligible. “I have chosen June, mey your powers be colder than the coldest winter night."

Another slap, making Cyril cringe and step back.

“You four will depart for Warfang in three days, until then, celebrate!" He roared

The crowds cheered and started walking out of the arena, Spyro turned to Michael.

“And how many times have you done that?" He asked

Michael sighed. “More times than I would like."

Spyro gave him an odd look, before they flew home. Spyro landed in the square and noticed that there was a party going, it was someone's hatchday. He smiled at the celebration, and congratulated the hatchday girl before walking into his house. Cynder was cooking in the kitchen when he entered.

“Hey" She called “Who did you pick?"

“Jennifer, you saw her on the first day, she will be a good fit for the role." Spyro answered.

“Sounds like you made the right choice." Cynder replied

There was a large rattle, which made Spyro poke his head through the door and look at her.

“Hey, you go relax, I goth this, no more work for you. For the next week." She told him.

Spyro raised his arms defensively, and backed out of the room. He sat over on the couch and sighed. After a few minutes, Cynder came out with their meals and Spyro joined her at the table, they ate and talked about the new guardians.

“I'm happy for Josh, he seemed to like the idea of being a guardian." Cynder spoke

“Yeah, he looked happy, but Grace cheered so loud it made him blush." Spyro replied.

“That's good, she's showing her support for her future mate." Cynder replied.

“So, what happened while I was gone." Spyro asked, then cringed. “Sorry, I'm not use to all this peace, are we normal now?"

Cynder laughed “Far from it, but I like the feeling of having a normal conversation. The maildragon came by again, and he still says that all these absences are making the pile bigger, but he did bring a few important items. We got a very formal request to officiate the crowning of Camry and Layla."

“When is that supposed to be?" Spyro asked

“They said as soon as possible, so we might do it tomorrow or the day after." Cynder answered.

Spyro laughed “I thought you said no more work?"

Cynder gave him a sly look. “Yeah, I forgot, since it is so hard to pick up a crown and set it on someone's head, what was I thinking." She facepalmed sarcastically.

Spyro chuckled more, and nuzzled Cynder. “Thanks for lunch."

She smiled and walked back to clean off the plates.

“The party seems to be wrapping up, do you want to go take a nap in the afternoon sun?" Spyro asked

Cynder walked back into the living room and smiled. “I would like nothing more."

She nuzzled him, and they walked outside. Aura and Sam had also excited their house, they were wearing their armor and had crowns on their heads. Before anybody could say anything, Michael, Trice, and Bea stepped out of their house. Bea quickly nuzzled Aura before she took off with Sam and Michael.

“What's going on?" Cynder asked

“It's an Ascension Day; Aura and Sam are joining us as ethereal beings." Trice answered

“What does that mean?" Spyro replied

“It means they are becoming immortal, they will be like Onyx and Nebula, when they return, they will be ethereal beings." Trice explained “They are joining the eternal family."

Bea smiled. “My wonderful Aura is all grown up."

“You will be offered the same luxury soon; we want you to consider it." Trice told them.

“We never got the chance to give it to your parents, but we will when they are back." Bea added.

“Us? Immortal?"

“You two, Flame, Ember, Lumi, Amber, and many others will also be offered." Bea told them. “Anybody that you would like to come with you, if you choose immortality."

“Come with us?" Spyro replied

“We will not be staying here long, when it is time to pass your crown, it will also be time to leave this dimension." Bea told them. “Unlike Onyx and Nebula, we can not stay here, we would become a burden."

Spyro nodded, and walked over to a patch of sun on the ground, then laid down and stretched. Bea walked back into the house and Trice nodded to them and d Trice nodded to them and vanished. Cynder laughed and joined her mate.

“She's just like her father." Cynder smirked.

Spyro nuzzled her and she returned the affection, they relaxed for a few minutes before Ember came out of her house and walked over to them. She smiled at Spyro's sleeping face.

“Hey, did you guys get an invitation to Camry and Layla's crowning?" She asked them.

“We got a request to officiate it." Cynder told her.

“Nice! They will be great leaders."

“And have really cute kids." Cynder giggled.

“Not as cute as yours, I'm not kidding, you guys are the most adorable couple I have ever seen."

Cynder blushed, and turned away shyly.

“I never thought I was that beautiful, I know Spyro thinks I am, but otherwise, I'm below normal."

“Don't say that about yourself, you are the prettiest dragoness I have ever seen, and I am one too. Your children will be adorable, just like both of you."

Cynder blushed more, then smiled brightly at her. “I guess I have only seen hate directed at me for so long, that I thought I was horrible in every way. You are a good friend Ember, I'm glad I met you."

Ember beamed back. “Likewise."

Flame joined them and fell asleep around his mate, Cynder and Ember smiled at their mates, and chatted for a few hours. They talked about nesting and hatchling care; Michael had been giving them books. After the sun had set, Spyro woke up and yawned. He stretched his body and made a goofy face, causing both of the girls to giggle at him.

“Enjoying the view?" He asked seductively.

Ember blushed heavily, and looked away, Cynder slapped him with her tail, and he chuckled. Ember looked over and nudged Flame, he smiled and opened his eyes.

“Mph." He groaned.

Slowly, they got up, Ember slid her tail under Flame's chin and they stumbled into their house. Cynder laughed and kissed Spyro, making him jump and kiss her back, then they got up and went to bed.

Aura and Sam landed with Michael, who teleported them into a strange room. They were in another dimension, far away from Faun. Aura smiled at Sam and they stepped into a large ring in the room. The ring burst to flames, blue flames rising high in the air. Michael stepped onto a large podium and smiled down at them.

“Hello there, my daughter, you are here today to join me as ethereal beings. Do you two wish to join the eternal family." His voice boomed.

Sam looked over at Aura, they were both beaming, they turned to Michael and nodded. His eyes flashed a blinding blue light and the ring's flames grew even higher. He lifted the two dragons into the air and they started to glow. Michael cast two massive ethereal bolts, and they took the shape of the two floating dragons. The ethereal shapes combined with the two dragons, and runes started to form all over their bodies. Suddenly, the magic pulsed brightly, sending a shockwave and causing them to get dropped on the floor. Aura was the first to wake, gasping and groaning, then Sam followed. Michael spread his wings and landed on the floor next to them. He smiled and nuzzled his daughter, causing her to giggle and squirm. She laughed and nudged her mate. He woke and smiled, making Aura's eyes sparkle. They walked around, testing their new ethereal powers, and their immortality, then Michael teleported them back. They flew home and landed back in the square, smiling and laughing. Bea walked out and greeted them, she nuzzled her daughter affectionately, rubbing her snout against Aura's. Then they walked into the house, chatting enthusiastically.
