Revival Of Eternity CH 2

Josh stepped in front of his fiancée, blocking his mother's path. Michael held his claws out and froze her before she could even reach them. He flicked his claws and she was pushed back to where she was before.
“You will follow the law, Josh is an adult, and protected as such, go home, or you will be made too. If he wishes to return, he will do so, if not, there is nothing you can do." Michael growled
The red dragoness lowered her head, and cried. Josh's father covered her with his wing and shot Josh a glare before leading her out of the building. Josh sighed in relief and thanked Michael, who nodded and returned to his book. The group walked out of the building and into the main street. They spent the next few hours setting up more shields, Michael split the group up into five different teams, and whenever they had finished another portal would lead them to the next location. After Spyro and Cynder finished the last shield, Michael sent them a letter to relax for a while and that he would pick them up later. They were in a seaside city, so they walked down to the sandy beach and sunbathed for a while. Cynder laid on her back and enjoyed the warm sun on her belly. Spyro was swimming out in the water, diving occasionally and rising back up with a small splash. Cynder heard a portal open not far from her, and two dragons stepped through it. She knew it was Grace and Josh, and didn't react. Josh ran out and joined Spyro, while Grace chose to join Cynder, allowing the sun to warm her white scales.
“The last planet we were in was so cold I lost all feeling in my arms and legs." Grace mumbled, and closed her eyes.
Cynder smiled a little, and fell asleep with the sun on her face. Spyro laughed and swam with Josh, enjoying the cool water on his wings. Josh had never swum in anything bigger than the pond behind his home, and was not used to the waves. They laughed and played around for a while, before Spyro came to shore. He laid down next to his mate, and took a nap. Josh swam back to the shore, walking slowly back to Grace, and sat down next to her.
“Beaches are fun." She mumbled to him
He grunted in agreement, and stretched his wings. She opened her eyes and looked over at him.
“I love you" She mumbled to him
He jumped a little and looked down at her.
“I love you too, Grace." He leaned over and kissed her.
They broke up and looked at each other, then Josh laid down next to her. Cynder mumbled and yawned, her tail curled around Spyro's.
“They look so good together, I hope were like that when were mated." Grace spoke, smiling
“You can tell that they are together as soon as you see them." Josh replied
“They will be having the cutest babies, imagine a black one with his eyes." Grace smiled
“I never asked you, do you want to have kids?" Josh turned to her.
Her eyes flashed. “More than anything, like, ever. I want to give them all that I never had, and more."
Josh laughed “Well, lets get to it then."
Grace chuckled and nuzzled him, she cuddled up to him and sighed.
“I'm glad we left, now I get to have you all for myself." She said into his neck.
“You two are adorable." Cynder spoke
They looked over and noticed that Spyro had put his head on Cynder's belly, and they were both staring at them. Josh and Grace blushed heavily.
“Sorry" Grace spoke
“Don't be, you're in love, we were like that, we are still like that, but usually in private." Cynder smiled.
Spyro laid his head back down and fell back asleep, Cynder raised an eyebrow at them, and followed her mate.
“That was, embarrassing." Josh whispered
Grace chuckled, and closed her eyes, Josh nuzzled against her and fell asleep with her.
Spyro opened his eyes and noticed Michael laying down not far from them. He got up and groaned, Cynder opened her eyes and smiled at him.
“We need to come to the beach more often." She stated
Spyro nodded in agreement, Michael looked over at them and smirked.
“Time to go you guys, there are beaches at home." He told them
They stood up and stretched, looking over to Michael.
“It's night back where were staying." Bea said behind them “So you will just be going back to sleep."
They followed Michael through another portal, back into the main city. The headquarters were almost completely empty, only a few soldiers came and went. The group went into their rooms and settled into their beds.
“We should find a beach back on Triad" Cynder spoke
“Definitely, I love the sun and the sand." Spyro replied
She cuddled against him and fell asleep.
Michael walked into the war room and sat down at the head of the table. He sighed and looked around at the generals staring at him.
“Not one of you were able to contact me in any way when this happened" He asked
They shook their heads; Michael sighed and summoned a projection.
“This is an ancient, uncontrolled, corruption. These ancient shields are designed to block them, but they will not last forever." Michael told them
“Was this the Dark One's doing?" A younger wolf asked
“I think so, but I don't think he did it on purpose. This might be one of his attempts to summon more power." Michael answered
“Does that mean he was here?" A yellow dragon asked
“No, it means that something of great power was floating out in that void, and he grabbed it through the dark plane. But he was clumsy, and left the rift open." Michael explained.
Michael talked with the generals for a minute before he left, he walked along the halls and found his room. Trice and Bea were already asleep, Michael curled up next to his mate and charged his ethereal powers. His mind slipped from his body and he cast himself outwards and felt himself expand. He was able to look out at the whole galaxy all at once, he cast his vision to a pure darkness outside of the edge of the galaxy, and focused on its center.
'Cynder looked out at the burning village, the corpses of dragons from all ages laid scattered around. She smiled and looked around the wreckage, apes and golems were marching around, searching for survivors. Cynder saw a small snout poke out from under a block of wood. She snickered and walked over to the pile of rubble, and effortlessly cleared out the pile over the trapdoor. She opened the trapdoor to see a dozen or so hatchlings, with a couple of eggs. They flinched and recoiled at her as she smiled down on them. She charged a poison ball…
Cynder was back at Faun, but it was burning. Michael was staring at her; his eyes were red and he had his sword in his jaw. Spyro was laying on the ground, blood was poring from a wound on his throat. A fortress crashed behind them. Michael growled, his head held low in a battle stance, then he charged…
They were in a clearing somewhere on Genrir, Cynder looked around and saw Spyro staring at her with a fierce gaze.
“You left me, I gave you my entire life, and you left me?" He growled
“Wait, what?"
“I told you that I would protect you, that I would gladly take the pain from everybody else for you, because I love you."
“Spyro I…"
“Why did you go? Michael told you to stay, Aura, Trice, Flame, Lumi, and Jasper told you to stay, but you left anyway."
“I…"
“Did you think I would just move on? Let you go? Cynder, I can't live without you, the days that I spent without you hurt me worse than anything I have ever felt. I spent all this time worried about you, but now that I found you all I can feel is… Anger."
Spyro softened, his anger turned into raw pain, pain that made Cynder flinch.
“I, I can't trust you anymore Cynder, and if I can't trust you, there is nobody I can."
Spyro turned around and cried, tears fell from his face and hit the floor. Cynder felt as if she had hit an entire wall of pain and suffering. Spyro looked over at her, and he had a look of raw pain on his face, as if he had his heart ripped out and was replaced by a ball of poison. He shook his head and flew off, Cynder followed him.
“Spyro wait…"
“No, don't talk, it hurts too much." Spyro turned away from her.
“But wait…" She flew up and nuzzled him.
This was too much for Spyro, his heart gave out and he fainted, his wings folded as he fell from the sky. Cynder dived, but was unable to catch him, she watched helplessly as her mate hurtled towards the ground.
Cynder was back as her corrupted self, she was watching as her armies lit house after house on fire, she smiled as hundreds of burning bodies covered the landscape. She had put them there, and she was proud of it.'
“Spyro!" Cynder gasped
She felt her claws and tail wrapped around her mate, tight enough to cut into his flesh. Her breathing was fast and she opened her eyes and looked over at him. He was staring at her, his face deep with worry. Cynder untangled herself from him and ran out of the room. Spyro leapt after her and chased her out of the lobby and into the sky. Tears were streaming from her face as she flew as fast as she could away from the city and into the woods nearby. She spotted a pond and landed next to it, Spyro landed beside her and nuzzled her.
“Cynder, what's wrong? Is Dark Cynder back?" He asked her
“No, it's… Nevermind, forget it."
“No, I will not forget it, what happened."
“I think, I think I need some time alone, like really alone. Somewhere far from here"
Cynder regretted it the moment she said it, it was like her dream was coming to life. The pain was visible in his eyes, but he ignored it and nodded, backing up and turning around.
“I get it, far from me." He mumbled
“No, that's not what I meant, I feel like I never got time to solace myself about the things I have done while I was corrupted." Cynder explained “I need time to think."
Spyro looked back at her “What you did was not your fault, how many times do I have to tell you, we both did things we greatly regret, things that others would consider vile, and horrible. We both have to live with these things, and that's why we feel that we need to help all that we can, and Michael helps us with that, that's why he brought us here. If you want to go, go. But I don't want you to go."
Cynder kept crying, her legs gave out and she fell to the floor. Spyro called her name and rushed to her side.
“I feel like my past is going to catch up to me, and when it does, I don't want you getting hurt because of it." She told him
“Your past is going to stay where it is, Michael and I have made sure of it. You don't have to worry." Spyro nuzzled her.
She tried to get up, but her legs were too weak and she collapsed, she stifled a gasp and fell back against the ground. Spyro looked her over, before pulling out a letter and quickly writing a note on it, he signed the letter away and turned back to her. He nuzzled her head for a bit before Michael appeared next to them.
“She woke up from a nightmare and flew all the way out here, she says she wants time to herself, away from here, but she is too weak to even stand up." Spyro explained
Cynder groaned and laid her head back, her entire body was felling like she was about to die.
“She just put herself into a shock induced state, and now she is falling out of it, it will leave her weakened for a few hours, but she will be fine. This was caused by stress and worry about her past." Michael told him.
Michael cast a spell over Cynder, and she relaxed and passed out.
She woke up and looked around, she had enough strength to stand but still didn't want to. She saw Michael, but could not find Spyro.
“He went to go find some food for you." Michael explained
She nodded and sighed.
“Been having dreams of hurting all those you hold dear, and of your past?" He looked down at her.
“I did things that can not be forgiven." She replied
“Do you think you are the only one? Everyone who came to this dimension has done things just as bad, and I have done things that make what you did look like mercy. I have been forced to destroy entire civilizations, entire galaxies, in defense of others. I have killed more intelligent beings then you have cells in your body, a lot more." Michael gave her a cold gaze “You must stay by your mate, you hurt him when you told him you wanted to leave, but he has forgiven you because you were in a confused state. Everywhere you go, he comes with you, if you want to leave here, go somewhere quiet and take some time off, then that's exactly what you two will do, together."
Cynder nodded “I just had this urge to crawl up alone somewhere, and stay there until I die."
“Don't say that to him, it will only make things worse, you will live beyond your past. It will not come back to haunt you." He replied
Spyro landed back next to the pond and noticed his mate was awake, he rushed up and nuzzled her.
“Don't scare me like that." He said into her neck.
Cynder noticed that he had tears in his eyes, and nuzzled him back, he sighed and pulled her onto her feet. They flew home, Michael flying below them so he could catch her if she fell. When they landed back in front of the headquarters, Spyro saw that everybody else was waiting for them, confusion and worry on their faces.
“Cynder has had an episode, as a doctor I diagnose her with overstress and post-traumatic-stress-disorder, and I prescribe some time off. Doctor's orders, you will rest now and enjoy some peace." He informed them.
They nodded and walked out of the building, Bea opened a portal and they all stepped through.
“It's likely that you will be needed when we attack the rift, it will be a difficult fight." He told them, before vanishing.
Spyro led them back into their room and onto the bed.
“I'm fine Spyro." She told him, yawning.
He wordlessly curled around her and tightly cuddled against her. She yawned again and fell asleep, his tight embrace helped her into a dreamless, peaceful, sleep. Spyro couldn't sleep, he kept watching her breath, her earlier episode of guilt and depression had scared him. He thought that it might be the void plague that is reminding her of what she had done in the past, and is tearing away her pure smile and happy feeling. He wanted to see her smile again, a real, full, smile filled with love, or wonder, or pure happiness would wipe his worries away and reinstall his confidence that she is okay, and he promised himself that he would see that smile at least once before they returned to the fight.
