Spyro woke up and looked out the window, and watched as Michael talked with a bunch of generals. They had only been home for a few days before Michael started planning their next trip. Another dimension had lost contact with the ML, and they needed to go find out what happened. Today, they were going to depart to another dimension. Only this time Flame and Ember aren't coming, neither are Aura and Sam. Only five dragons will be leaving today. Spyro yawned, and looked over at Cynder, then nudged her awake. She smiled at him but didn't open her eyes.

“Time to go." He cooed at her

She opened her eyes and looked over at him, and yawned.

“Ugh, can't we do this later?" She groaned

Spyro laughed “If you don't wake up, Michael will leave without you."

They got up and stretched, then put on their armor. The stepped outside of the house and walked up to Michael, who glanced at them briefly before continuing his conversation. Bea joined them, and smiled at Spyro and Cynder. Trice stepped out of the house and stretched her wings, yawning. Michael stepped back and opened a portal. Michael poked his head through it, then reeled it back.

“Let's go" he said, then stepped through

They followed, and stepped into a city that looked like the ruins they had explored in Origin. Spyro gasped and looked around the massive buildings and hustle of the crowd. Michael looked around, and started walking down a road. The others followed, watching as crowds of people rush past them. Spyro received many strange looks as they walked down the street. Eventually, they reached a quiet building and Michael stepped into it. The building was empty, other than a table in the center. Michael looked around and stepped up to the table, then he blew the dust off of it. He reached out and tapped the table, and a projection burst forward. Michael watched the projection for a few moments, before it shaped itself into the head of a wolf.

“Michael?" It asked

“Yes, where are you?" Michael asked

“Adrios, we have been retreating."

“Retreating, why?"

“A little while back all of our interdimensional communications stopped working, then a strange plague started spreading."

“A plague, where is it's source?"

“Something just outside of this galaxy"

“It's a void plague, any detectable causes?"

“Nothing, everything that goes into the void vanishes, and is gone forever. Nothing comes out of that void, not even a magical trace."

“Should we evacuate the dimension?"

“We can't open any interdimensional portals, I'm not sure how you got here" The projection frowned

The projection vanished and was replaced by a map of the galaxy, a major chunk of the galaxy was black.

The projection kept talking “Our defenses only slow it down, and there is some sort of rift where we think the source is from."

Michael thought for a moment, then turned to the others

“We need to stop this, there are specific defense locations that we can use to create a wall to hold off the plague. Then I need to find the rift and close it, cutting the plague off from it's power source." He explained

“Where too first?" Spyro asked

“Let's start here" He pointed to a specific star “Then draw all the way down to here."

“The origin of this magic is the same as the other one." Trice spoke

“Indeed, it is, I think he might have sent it, or caused it, in some way." Michael nodded

Spyro looked confused, but Michael turned back to the protection.

“I guess calling for help is not an option, we need to establish some sort of communications with the ministry." He told it.

The projection turned back into a wolf. “Who should I call in."

“A bunch of knights, and as many sorcerers as we can." Michael replied

The projection nodded, and vanished.

“Alright, let's go see this thing up close" Michael sighed.

He quickly opened a portal and walked through; the rest of the group followed. It was night in their new destination, and Spyro gasped as he noticed that a huge chunk of the stars was missing. Michael's eyes flashed as he studied the black hunk in the sky. He looked over at a temple that looked far older than the rest of the city.

“This is the original capital of this territory, but it is being moved, that temple over there needs to be activated to start building the wall." Michael explained

They walked into the temple and found hundreds of refugees hurrying around, soldiers were stationed regularly, watching over the civilians. Michael walked to the center of the temple and looked at the collection of tents sitting on top of elaborately designed tiles.

“We need access to this whole thing here, I'm going to go find some soldiers to help me move, could you ask them to take their tents?" Michael asked

They nodded, and he left. Spyro stuck his head through one of the tents to find it empty, she moved on to the next and found it the same. On the third tent he spotted two young dragons asleep on a small bed. The yellow one opened his eyes and stared at them.

“Hey, what do you want?" He asked

The white dragoness opened her eyes when her companion spoke, and looked over at the purple dragon.

“We need to clear an area at the center of this temple, could you guys move your tent?" Spyro asked

“Oh, sure I guess." He noticed Spyro's armor.

The two dragons walked out of the tent and helped drag the others to the side, Michael returned with a few soldiers and they cleared a space. Michael lifted his paw and drew a rune with his claws, he took the rune and slammed it into the floor. The whole circle began to glow, and an obelisk rose out of its center. After the obelisk stopped, Michael pulled a set of crystals out of his inventory, and placed them each in specific slots on the obelisk. After he had finished, he started tapping on some symbols on one side of the obelisk, then it started glowing a bright blue. A beam of blue light shot out of the point, firing out into the sky. Michael stepped back and studied the runes that appeared on the sides, he smiled and nodded, turning back to the rest.

“That will do here, this city is protected for now, but we need to activate the others to strengthen the shield." Michael told them

“What was that?" The white dragoness asked

“A shield, it will hold off the void for the time being." Michael told her

“Who are you?" She replied

Michael looked down at the dragoness and squinted.

“You're an aether." He stated “We could use you, come with us if you want to help."

“If she's going, I'm coming too." The yellow dragon stated

“Whatever, we have to go though." Michael replied

They walked out of the temple and back out onto the street, Michael led them through the crowds of people staring up at the shield in the sky. The white dragoness walked up to Spyro.

“Hi, I'm grace. I've never seen a purple dragon before." She introduced herself “And that's Josh."

“I'm Spyro, and purple dragons only come from one dimension," He answered

“So, you are from another dimension." Grace replied

“Yep, I'm Cynder by the way." Cynder cut in “Is Josh your brother or?"

“He's my boyfriend" Grace blushed “We just left our homes and tried to start over, but the city we went to was being attacked by the void."

“You ran away?" Trice asked

“I never had a family, I was raised in an orphanage, and left it as soon as I was old enough to live on my own. Josh left his family a few days ago, they were pushing him to hard, and putting way too much pressure on him because of his boosted electric element." Grace explained

Josh blushed “You aren't supposed to tell them about that."

“It's fine, I have many elements, including a boosted fire one." Spyro told him

“I have multiple elements as well, and the others are literal gods." Cynder added

Grace's eyes went wide, and she looked over at the three dragons walking in front of them. Michael suddenly opened a portal and stepped through without changing pace. They stepped into a totally different terrain, they were in a city surrounded by sand, with another temple in the center. They easily activated the shield, its beam shot into the sky and connected with the original one. The group spent the next few hours setting up dozens of shields, before Michael took them to a city without a temple, and led them to a massive building filled with soldiers.

“This is Adrios, we are about to enter the command headquarters, we will rest here for a while before we continue to activate the shields." He told them

Spyro sighed, glad he can rest his tired mind, he had set up so many shields all he could think about was the successful activation runes. Michael got the group three rooms they can use as their home away from homes while they stayed in the dimension, and Cynder fell in into the bed. Spyro took off his armor, then helped Cynder with hers. He settled in around her and quickly fell asleep, allowing his tired muscles to relax.

Spyro opened his eyes when he heard a soft knock on the door to the room.

“Hey" Bea's voice softly called “There is a breakfast buffet open."

Spyro heard her walk away, and looked down at Cynder, she was still asleep, snoring lightly. He carefully got up and left the room, then walked down to the main floor. He quickly found the buffet, and grabbed a large meal. He spotted Grace and Josh sitting at one of the tables and sat down with them.

“Hi" Grace greeted him enthusiastically “Where's Cynder?"

“Still asleep, she isn't a morning person." Spyro answered

“Are you two mated?" She replied

“We are, closing in on a full year now." Spyro was a little stunned at his own words.

“Nice" Grace looked over to Jace “We want to be, but we have no idea how to have a mating ceremony."

“All you need is two witnesses that know you, and an officiator, Michael should happily be the latter." Spyro replied

“We don't have any friends" Grace looked down “I have no family and Josh's won't help us."

“Sam would" Josh replied “But getting him would be a problem."

“So, how did you two meet?" Spyro asked

“Josh was learning how to travel using lightning, and he flashed through my cave, nearly lighting everything on fire. I taught him how to communicate using our minds, and we kept in contact. Being an aether dragon, I can open portals, but I can only do them on the same planet, but I could come and go from Josh's family territory as I pleased." Grace smiled

“Why don't your parents approve?" Spyro asked

“They strongly believe in same-element mating, I was supposed to be with another electric dragon, so that there is a higher chance of passing on my boosted powers." Josh explained “My brother, Sam, has their fire element, and I keep hearing them talk about the 'options' for him and me in the area."

Spyro nodded “Why didn't you just mate without a ceremony? You could have stayed and they couldn't have done anything."

“Because they would never let me live it down, they would be angry at me for the rest of my life, and I don't want to bother with it." Josh replied “My parents hold grudges forever"

“Speaking of which." Michael walked up to them “Your parents are ex-generals, they were discharged so they could start a family, but they can still use their status to find you."

“They can!" Josh jumped up “We need to leave"

Michael stopped them “There is nowhere you can go where they can't find you, but if you stay with me, I can protect you, my code requires me to help prevent a violation of the dragon law."

“You would help us?" Josh asked

“There are two parts; It is illegal to separate courting dragons, and dragons that are engaged are considered adults, and will have the rights of such. So, I can tell you are in love, the first part is in play, but you must be engaged for my full protection to work." Michael told them

“Engaged?" Grace replied

“Engaged to be mated, which means you aren't mated yet, but plan to be. It means you have found your mate, but haven't had the whole ceremony yet." Michael explained

Josh looked over at Grace and blushed. He led her to a quiet corner of the room and looked her in the eyes.

“Grace, will you be my mate for life?" He asked her

She laughed “Of course, that was the idea."

He smiled at her “Just checking"

They went back and nodded at Michael, who smirked.

“Well, they can't do anything, any attempt to separate you two will be treated as an attempt to violate the law, and it will likely lead to their arrest and expedition back to their planet." He told them.

They smiled at each other.

“Which is good because this is the first place they would come too; they don't know you're here but they would come to the headquarters to have a search put out for you." Michael added “And they will probably be here in a few minutes, they were seen walking out of a portal not far from here."

Josh paled, and looked over at Grace. Her calm expression solaced him, but he was still worried about the wrath of his parents. Cynder joined them at the table with a plate of food, and froze when she saw their expressions.

“Josh's parents are ex-generals, and they are coming here right now. You can eat, Michael can handle this." He whispered to her

“You know, I think I have become desensitized towards this kind of stuff, I don't really care because I know this will resolve itself in a good way." Cynder whispered back

“That's probably for the best" Trice smiled at Cynder “As a queen you will have to ignore a lot of drama, and as a friend of Michael, you will have to get use to stuff like this. He finds those in need and protects them, that's why he brought them with us."

“You knew who we are?" Josh asked

“The second I saw you." Michael answered, he had pulled out a book and was reading it.

Cynder finished her meal, then sighed in content. She glanced out into the main lobby and noticed red adult dragons with a red child rushing across the room.

“Is that them?" She asked nonchalantly

“Yep" Michael replied, not looking up from his book.

The smaller dragon noticed Josh, and smiled at him.

“They brought Sam?" Josh spoke, stunned

“Probably to recognize me." Grace replied, smiling back at him.

Sam quickly hid his smile and turned back to his parents, who were talking with another general. After a minute of talking, the general's face turned from surprise to confusion, he let them finish, then turned and pointed at Josh. The two red dragons turned slowly and their eyes went wide when they locked on their son. Josh paled even more, and Michael watched the scene with an amused expression. Josh grabbed Grace's tail with his as his parents approached.

“Samuel!" His mother called, “We have been looking for you."

Josh gathered his confidence looked at his parents.

“You need to look no further" He replied

Cynder chuckled, but hid it as a cough.

“We were worried about you." Josh's father stated

“You didn't need to be, with the amount of training you pushed onto me." He rolled his eyes

“But you ran off after some… Girl" His mother growled at Grace.

“Hey! We went together, he did not go after me." Grace replied

Both of the red dragons shot her a dirty look, then turned back to their son.

“You need to come home, your training is not yet complete." They told her

“Okay, we'll pack our things and be ready in an hour." Josh smiled

“We, oh no, no, she is not coming, she can stay here, with… Michael?" His mother turned to him.

“Sup" Michael spoke, still reading his book.

She shook her head, and turned back to Josh. “Nevertheless, she is not coming."

“Then I am not going." Josh smiled wider

“We don't have time for this." His father cut in “Let's go, now!"

Michael set the book down. “Are you aware of the Dracios Elementia Morality Code?"

“I… Of course," He replied, stunned

“Five dash three?" Michael looked at them

They both paled, looking down at their son. Josh's mother looked back to Michael.

“Nonsense, he is still a child." She spoked

“Five dash eight." Michael replied

“They aren't engaged, are they?" She turned to her son.

He blushed a little, which is all the answer she needed. Her eyes flashed with anger as she turned to Grace.

“How dare you…" She lunged
