Wings Of Fire-Rise Of The Titans CH 10
Last Chapter, now give me a minute before I post anything more, I need to figure some stuff out.
Sunny woke and smiled brightly, today was the day they would leave for their wedding. She looked over at Starflight, who was snoring lightly in his sleep. She dived at his face and nuzzled him, making him laugh and open his eyes.
“Aren’t you excited?” She asked him.
“Of course, but we aren’t leaving for a while.” Starflight replied. “I was hoping to get more sleep before we left.”
Sunny sat back. “I’m just too excited.”
Starflight smiled at her. “We can do something if you want.”
Sunny looked up at the ceiling. “Want to go bother Fatespeaker?”
Starflight looked over at her. “You think she’s okay? She left in a hurry and returned in the middle of the night with no explanation.”
“Your right, we shouldn’t rub it in any more than we will be already.”
“What about Moon and Qibli?”
Sunny smirked. “Let’s go mess with them.”
They both got up and made their way to Moon and Qibli’s room, and poked their heads in. They both were also awake, working on various projects.
“Hey.” Starflight greeted. “What are you two up to?”
They both looked over at Sunny and Starflight, and smiled.
“Just finishing some grading.” Moon told him
Qibli walked over and nuzzled Moon. “Be right back.”
Moon nodded, and Qibli walked out of the room and towards the main entrance.
“Your dragonets are going to be so cute.” Sunny told Moon.
Moon promptly blushed. “I guess.”
“It’s likely you will be having little golden ones, like Sunny.”
“What about you?” Moon replied, still blushing.
Starflight looked over at Sunny. “I’m hoping her personality with my wings, or maybe just mini versions of her.”
This made Sunny blush, and lean against him.
“So, grandson of the old queen.” Moon replied. “It seems everybody finally knows.”
“How did you find out?”
“Mind powers, though I can’t seem to be able to read Starflight anymore.”
He was born on the brightest night, he has powers beyond what you can think, I should start training both of you soon.
“Train us?” Moon asked.
Starflight possesses the ability to completely control one’s mind. He can cast illusions, read minds, and control dreams. You can see the future Moon, but not very good.
Starflight looked stunned. “I can control dreams.”
Don’t worry about that for now, were leaving in a half hour.
“We are!” Moon jumped up, then started rushing around the room, packing for the trip.
Sunny and Starflight left her to pack, and retrieved their supplies before walking out the front entrance. Clay and Peril were already waiting there, and they smiled at the couple.
“You guys ready?” Michael asked.
“Yeah.” Sunny replied.
“I already sent an over-excited Kinkajou and Turtle there.” Michael told them.
Sunny smirked. “Of course, she was really jittery yesterday.”
Tsunami and Riptide landed next to them, soon followed by Glory and Deathbringer.
“Glory!” Sunny ran up and hugged the rainwing queen.
“Hey Sunny.” Glory smiled. “Your turn for a wedding?”
“Still can’t believe she’s the first of us.” Tsunami replied. “Her and Starflight.”
Starflight looked offended, but shrugged. Michael turned and stared at a random spot, Deathbringer noticed this and smirked.
“Don’t worry, it’s just the queen’s rainwing guard.”
“I told you not to bring one, I already am the most dangerous creature around. She’s plenty protected.”
Glory laughed. “I told him the exact same thing.”
Michael snapped his claws. “Gifts! I forgot I got a bunch of gifts, but I wanted to give them to you before we left.”
He pulled out two bracelets, each had a pattern of a night sky over a desert. Sunny and Starflight each took one and clipped it on, thanking him repeatedly.
The stone is skyfire, to hide your secrets from Moon, and possibly your own dragonets. Skyfire doesn’t work on me or Starflight though.
Sunny looked over to Starflight, who nodded slightly, and turned to talk to Moon and Qibli. Moon looked over and frowned slightly at Sunny, then smiled at Starflight when he said something Sunny couldn’t hear.
“Guess it works.” Sunny mumbled.
Michael chuckled, and Sunny went over to see Winter and Lynx.
“Hey, how’s everything?”
“Good.” Lynx chuckled. “Snowfall is freaking out about her wedding.”
“Have you ever even met her future husband?”
“Few times, here and there.” Winter replied. “No clue how him and the queen got connected. There’s no political purpose.”
Lynx shrugged. “Nevertheless, she’s constantly sending me letters, she even wants me to send a review of your wedding so she can use some of the same ideas.”
Sunny smirked. “It’s all Michael’s idea, so she should ask him.”
“You really let him do everything?”
“Yeah, we almost eloped, but Michael told us to take it slow and let him plan a wedding.”
There was a thump and the rest of the group arrived. Trice walked up and stood next to her father, frowning at a random direction. Michael signaled, and they all took flight, the trip to the southern coast didn’t take long, but it was still a draining one as Michael chose not to use his magic to boost them. They eventually landed near a house on a beach that stretched to the horizon on either side. Sunny was amazed at the tranquil sea spanning on and on. She couldn’t help but watch it and feel calm as it’s waves slowly lapped at the shore. A dark red skywing walked out of the house and waved a greeting.
“Hey, you’re here!”
“As I told you we would be.” Michael replied.
“I still didn’t expect it.”
Michael rolled his eyes. “I hope you had prepared.”
The skywing looked around. “As much as I could, but probably not enough.”
“Guys, this is Rose.” Michael introduced them.
“Who’s the lucky couple?” Rose asked.
Starflight stepped forward, and held Sunny close, he was beaming, the happiest Sunny had ever seen him.
“You two are adorable.” Rose replied.
“How long have you been here?” Starflight asked.
“A couple decades, my mate is out at the skywing kingdom and won’t be back for another week.”
“I thought nobody lived down here.” Sunny replied.
“There are actually quite a few of us, outcasts, hermits, hybrids.”
Sunny shrank back, making Rose jump.
“Not that that’s a bad thing! They actually chose to be here instead of in one of the random towns. It’s a really peaceful place, hardly anyone ever comes here.”
Sunny looked up at Starflight, who looked like he was deep in thought.
“Have you had any dragonets?” Sunny asked.
“We did, but they grew up and left, now it’s just us.” Rose replied. “But that’s the life.”
Starflight nodded, and Rose walked over to talk to Clay and Peril.
“This place is beautiful.” Sunny spoke.
“Not as much as you, but it fits perfectly.” Starflight replied.
Sunny blushed. “I… uh… don’t know how to respond to that.”
“You don’t have to, just know it’s the truth.” Starflight smiled.
“That’s just adorable.” Kinkajou squealed, appearing out of thin air.
Both of them jumped.
“Kinkajou, how long have you been here?”
“Little while, we just got back from exploring.” She told them.
Sunny turned and noticed Turtle looking around, confused about where his girlfriend went, he spotted her and ran over.
“Kink, warn me next time.” He spoke, panting.
“Sorry.” She licked his cheek “Just wanted to say hi.”
“We talked to them yesterday.”
“Yeah, and tomorrows their wedding!”
“We know!” Winter called from nearby.
Starflight laughed. “Your more excited than we are.”
“This place is amazing! There is so much to do, so many cool places to see.” Kinkajou replied.
Turtle collapsed on the sand. “No more, tired.”
“Didn’t Seagull use to live around here.” Trice asked Michael as they were walking over.
“I think so, why?”
“Isn’t there a possible animus line here?”
“Probably, but they’re too scared to show it anyway.”
“Likely repressed, and forgotten.” Trice added.
“Of all the places.” Winter looked around. “Here?”
“It was here or an ancient battleground filled with thousands of skeletons.” Michael replied.
Winter snapped his jaw shut.
“Where is that?” Starflight asked.
“A pretty nice island two days south from here.”
“And what exactly happened there?”
“The unified tribes defended their lands from the nightwings.”
Starflight sat there, stunned. “What?”
Michael smiled, and for some reason it made Sunny feel vaguely terrified. “Where do you think nightwings got their power from.”
“Does all magic come from you?” Sunny asked.
“Most, I guard the balance between darkness and light, good and evil. Blah Blah Blah.” He waved his talons.
“Wait, why did the tribes have to fight nightwings?” Starflight cut in.
“The unified tribes were terrified of what the nightwings could do, so they tried to exterminate you. But they didn’t realize that they were more powerful then all the other tribes combined. Blah blah blah, war, blah blah blah, nightwings claimed Phyrria for themselves and their allies. Then the scorching happens, blah blah blah, this nightwing tribe is the last one on the planet.”
“And you’re telling us this, now?” Sunny replied
“It was so long ago.. doesn’t really matter.”
“The nightwing tribe has been dwindling for years, but they have a chance of going fully extinct!” Sunny replied.
Starflight shuddered a bit.
Michael chuckled. “Please, a species, or subspecies, hasn’t gone truly extinct in trillions of years. There are plenty of nightwings in the ML.”
“But I’m talking about on the planet.” Sunny looked over at Starflight. “I’m worried.”
Starflight smiled. “The nightwings beat every other tribe combined, I think they’ll be fine.”
“What about those unified tribes?”
“You know we are on a large planet?” Michael cut in.
“Yeah.” Sunny replied.
“With more than two continents.”
Sunny gasped. “Really?”
Michael facepalmed. “Let’s see, Starflight knew, Tsunami knew, Glory knew, Thorn knew, heck, even Clay knew, how did you not figure this out?”
Sunny sat there for a moment. “What about these other continents?”
“Filled with other dragons, the only unique tribes are hivewings and nightwings, but that’s all for a later time, the sun is setting.” Michael flicked his tail, and walked away.
Sunny sat down next to Starflight, and sighed. “Aren’t you worried?”
“Not in the slightest, everything will be fine.”
Sunny set her head on Star’s shoulder. “Well, I hope you’re right.”
“Cheer up!” Kinkajou shouted from behind them. “It’s your wedding!”
Starflight chuckled. “She’s right, don’t worry.”
Sunny smiled. “Alright.”
They watched the sun set, before making their way into the house. Michael set out enough food for them, and they quickly ate. After they finished their meal, Rose led them to a large room with a few beds.
“Sorry, we only have five beds, and I have no clue what else to set up.”
“I thought I saw a nice piece of floor back there.” Michael motioned.
“I think I’ll join you on that nice floor.” Trice replied.
“Alright.” Tsunami stepped up. “Sunny and Starflight, Moon, Qibli…. Me and Riptide, Clay, Peril, Glory, and Deathbringer will take the beds tonight. We can shuffle it tomorrow.”
Everybody nodded, and settled into their sleeping positions. Sunny found it hard to sleep with all the others in the same room. Turtle, Anemone and Tsunami’s fluorescent scales all flashed faintly in their sleep. She looked around and realized just how many friends she had. The room was big, but the entirety of the floor was covered in sleeping dragons. All of the Dragonets of Destiny, the Original Jade Winglet, and a bunch of Pantalans were there, all for her wedding. Her mother would arrive early in the morning, and everybody would be there. She couldn’t think of a more perfect wedding. Michael lifted his head and looked over at her.
You are just bursting with joy; I can feel it all the way over here.
How could I not be?
This is one of the few timelines where I can see a happy future for you, you are an enigma, you know that?
Don’t know, don’t care.
Michael smiled. You’re learning!
Yeah, but I can’t sleep, so…. How about you tell me something about the nightwings I don’t already know.
Nightwings in general? Or just your nightwing?”
Either one.
Nightwings have created more art than any other tribe in the world, all the best musicians, painters, poets, and writers were nightwings, don’t tell Queen Coral.
Why is that?
Nightwings were always able to see the bigger picture due to their powers, and they always wanted to advance, more so than the other tribes.
Okay, now something about sandwings.
Golden sandwings used to be seen as ‘holy’ and were often worshipped and treated like royals. Your family line, the true sandwing royal line, has many golden sandwing ancestors because they commonly married into the royal family.
Sunny blinked. Wow.
Now go to sleep, and wake for the happiest day of your life.
Sunny smiled and cuddled up against Starflight, who responded by wrapping his wings around her and holding her tight. She felt her eyes droop close and quickly fell asleep.
“Sunny Sunny Sunny! It’s the big day let’s go.” Kinkajou’s voice woke up the golden sandwing.
“Relax, Kink, we have time.” Moon replied.
Sunny looked around, and realized all the boys had left.
“Look at that dress, it’s amazing.” Kinkajou replied.
Sunny turned and looked at the golden dress Michael had made, it was truly astonishing, even though she had seen it before. Lynx was smoothing it out while Peril was ironing the other dresses. Sunny was about to say something when Thorn burst into the room and hugged her daughter.
“Oh, look at you, my daughter.” The sandwing queen had tears in her eyes.
“Mom, calm down, it’s not like I won’t be your daughter.”
“I know, I know.” Thorn smiled. “Alright, let’s get you ready.”
Starflight looked over at his father, Mastermind was standing proudly as Clay and Smolder argued over Starflight’s suit. Starflight wondered how he was feeling, he did look kind of lonely lately.
“Dad?” Starflight spoke.
“Uhm, yes?”
“Did you love her?”
Smolder froze, and motioned for him and Clay to leave. They walked out of the room, and Starflight heard Turtle and Riptide in getting ready in the other room.
“My mother.” Starflight turned to Mastermind.
Mastermind sighed, “I did, though only she knew that.”
“You never got a chance to marry her?”
“No, as much as I wanted too, they took your egg, and she disappeared.”
Starflight walked over and hugged him. “I wish I had met her.”
“She really wanted to meet you, I had to stop her from killing Morrowseer.”
Mastermind stepped back and looked Starflight over.
“She’s a lucky girl.” He smiled.
They walked out into the other room, where a group of dragons were waiting for them. Michael smiled and nodded; Riptide followed suit. They walked out onto the beach and in front of an even bigger crowd. Everybody clapped and cheered as Starflight blushed and walked over to the altar. He stood there for a while, trying to ignore the stares from his friends and family. Feirceteeth was standing next to Strongwings in the back, and Starflight noticed that her general mood seems to have changed for the better. Starflight sat for a while, before Kinkajou, Tsunami, Glory, and Thorn walked and took their positions. Clay and Riptide stood next to Starflight, while Glory and Tsunami stood on the other side. Michael stepped up, and nodded at somebody, Sunny walked out from behind the house, and Starflight was stunned. She was wearing the most beautiful dress Starflight had ever seen, and she was blushing in her cute way. She walked up, clearly wishing that she wasn’t the center of attention. After taking her place in front of Michael, she turned and beamed at Starflight.
“Welcome, we have gathered here today, to celebrate the union between two dragons. Starflight and Sunny have chosen each other as partners for life, and wish to bind themselves in an eternal union.” Michael turned to Sunny.
“Sunny, do you take Starflight, as your husband, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad?”
“Definetly, without a doubt.” Sunny chuckled.
“Starflight, do you take Sunny, as your wife, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad?”
Starflight beamed brightly. “I do.”
“Then I, as the Ultimate Guardian, declare you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
Starflight leaned forward, and Sunny followed, they kissed and the crowd cheered. Michael snapped his fingers and fireworks launched into the sky. Sunny took Starflight’s side and hid her face behind his neck as the crowd clapped and whistled. Starflight led Sunny and the crowd into the forest, and into the elaborately designed clearing filled with food and tables. Clay immediately dug into the food, but Sunny nudged Starflight and they walked out of view of the others. Sunny immediately sagged against Starflight and sighed.
“I love you.” She mumbled into his neck.
“Are you okay?” He asked her.
“I’m fine, I just feel so happy.”
Starflight nuzzled her, and they stayed like that for a while. They were interrupted by Thorn, who found them sitting quietly.
“Hey, sorry to interrupt.” She smiled at them. “But Michael said he wanted you two to see something.”
Starflight nodded, and they walked back out into the clearing. Thorn led them into a different clearing, and Michael was waiting with a nightwing.
“Starflight.” Michael called. “There’s somebody I want you to meet.”
Starflight and Sunny walked up to them, and noticed that the nightwing was staring at him intently.
“Uhm, hi?”
“Starflight, this is your mother, Farsight.”
Starflight felt himself pale, his mind drew up a blank, and he just stood there in shocked silence. Farsight was watching his reaction, and after a minute of waiting, chuckled and motioned to Sunny.
“Why don’t you introduce me to your wife?”
Sunny, who had ducked away, stepped forward and waved.
“Uhm, Far… Mom, this is Sunny.”
Farsight smiled at her, and then turned back to Starflight.
“I’m so sorry I let Morrowseer take you, I wanted to hide you away, but there was nowhere for me to go.”
“What happened? How are you here?”
“I was trapped in the body of a skywing, Michael freed me, but I needed time to heal my mind.”
Farsight walked up and nuzzled Starflight, Michael stepped away and walked back into the other clearing.
“I’m so proud of you, and so incredibly sorry for everything.” Farsight whispered in his ear.
“It’s okay, you had no choice, I met Morrowseer, I understand.”
“You wife is beautiful, congratulations.”
Starflight stepped back and beamed.
“Michael wanted to wait longer.” She told them. “But I insisted on coming today.”
Starflight heard a gasp behind him, and turned to see Mastermind, Fiercteeth, and Strongwings. Mastermind was incredibly pale, and Fierceteeth looked like she was going to collapse.
“Mom?” Fierceteeth mumbled, before collapsing.
Farsight gasped as Strongwings leapt forward and caught his wife. He laid her down carefully, before walking up to them.
“Hello, my name is Strongwings, I’m her husband.”
Farsight nodded. “I heard about you, thank you for taking care of my daughter.”
Strongwings nodded, then walked back to Fierceteeth, and nudged her. Michael looked at her with a confused look, then shook his head.
“She was not expecting that.”
Michael’s voice shook Mastermind out of his shocked silence, he rushed up to Farsight and tackled her.
“Mph, Mastermind!”
Mastermind nuzzled Farsight with a fierce passion, holding his eyes shut and enjoying the felling. Starflight stepped back and smiled over at Sunny. She looked surprised, but also had a dreamy expression on her face. Farsight giggled as Mastermind hugged her tightly.
“Miss me much?” She asked.
“More than anything and everything.” Mastermind replied.
They both got up, and looked over at Starflight.
“C’mere.” Farsight grabbed Starflight, and pulled him into a hug.
Starflight could only feel joy while being surrounded by his parent’s wings. Fierceteeth woke up, and stumbled over and joined in. She hugged her mother tightly, and Starflight could see tears in her eyes.
They eventually broke up, and everybody walked back to join the party.
