Sunny was helping three other seawings carry Tsunami back into the palace when she heard another explosion. She looked back to the village and watched a large flame rise into the sky. Starflight! She thought.

“Another one?” One of the seawings spoke.

“Wait, we need to go back.” Sunny replied.

“What about her.” The seawing motioned to Tsunami.

Sunny looked between the village and the sea, then sighed.

“Alright, lets get going, but quickly.” She replied.

They took flight and made their way back to the summer palace. He better be okay. Sunny thought He better be.

It took them longer than expected to reach the Summer Palace, but they eventually made their way through the underwater entrance. Queen Coral was sitting their waiting for them, and rushed up to her daughter.

“Take her to the infirmary immediately.” She ordered, then turned to Sunny. “What happened?”

“She was just talking with some skywings and other seawings when there was this… explosion.” Sunny told her.

Coral growled. “I’ll destroy those skywings.”

Tsunami gasped and jerked away from the seawings that were carrying her.

“Where’s Riptide?” She called.

“You were the first to get back, we don’t know where anybody else is.” One of the seawings told her.

“I have to go find him.”

“No.” Sunny replied. “Michael used his magic to heal you, he said you need to rest for two days, or you could hurt yourself.”

Coral nodded, and the seawings blocked her from leaving. “If Michael was there, Riptide is fine, now go rest. I’ll make sure he is brought to you as soon as possible.”

Tsunami sighed, and walked out of the room. Coral turned to some of the seawing guards.

“I want you all on high alert, send extra guards to every village.” She ordered.

They nodded, and dove into the tunnel to relay the news.

“I need to go back.” Sunny told the queen, and turned to leave.

“No, it’s too dangerous, your mother would have my head if you got hurt.” Coral replied.

“Starflight’s still out there.” Sunny replied. “And there was another explosion.”

Coral sighed. “All the more reason for you to stay, there could be more.”

“But he could be hurt.”

Coral gave her a slight smile. “I know how you feel, but he’ll be alright. For the same reason that Riptide will.”

“So, you trust Michael now?”

“I have too now, he healed Tsunami.” Coral sighed.

A few more seawings walked out of the tunnel with wounded, and they were rushed to the infirmary. Sunny watched them, and felt her heart drop when Starflight wasn’t one of them. Coral gave her a sympathetic look, before walking off to talk to the new seawings. Sunny laid down next to the entrance and waited for Starflight.

Sunny opened her eyes, and looked up at the roof of the cave. There was some light, which told her that it was early morning. She looked around, and started to panic. Starflight hasn’t come back yet, what happened? Is he okay? Is he alive? She waited for a few more hours, feeling her heart fall to her stomach, before Starflight eventually limped through the entrance. Sunny rushed up to him and gasped when she saw his condition. There were a couple long gashed along his left side, and he had a few burns on his snout and body. The gash on his leg was still bleeding, but he smiled at her when she approached him. She quickly nuzzled him, avoiding the burns.

“What happened? Are you okay?” She spoke. “I was so worried about you.”

“I’m okay.” He told her. “That second explosion got me, but I’ll be fine.”

Sunny took a second to look him over completely, and realized how tired he looked. His wings were drooped, and he sagged against his right foreleg. He must have been flying all night. She thought Just to come back instead of staying there to heal.

“Let’s get you to bed.” She told him.

Starflight nodded, and leaned against her while she led him to their room. Starflight fell onto the bed with a groan, but still opened his wings to invite her in with him. She smiled and settled in with him. He quickly fell asleep, but Sunny had already slept, and all the anxiety and worry kept her awake. After a few hours, she wiggled her way out of the bed and walked out of the room. She made her way to Moon and Qibli’s room and knocked on the door. A very tired Qibli opened the door, and smiled faintly at Sunny.

“Hey, did I wake you?” Sunny asked.

“No, we can’t really sleep right now.” Qibli replied.

“How are you, and Moon?” Sunny asked.

“I’m fine, but Moon got a little rocked by the second explosion. Michael healed her, so were going to rest for a while.”

“The rest of the academy leaves tomorrow morning.” Sunny replied.

Qibli nodded. “How’s Starflight?”

“He got hit pretty bad, Michael didn’t need to heal him though.” Sunny answered. “Did Blue and Cricket return?”

“Yeah, they’re fine, they were on the other side of the square than the explosion.” Qibli told her.

“Well, I just wanted to check on you.” Sunny told them. “I’m going to go to the feeding hall and stare at a plate for a while.”

“Alright, see you later then. We should be leaving with the academy.” Qibli replied.

Sunny nodded and walked out of the hall and into the hall. She grabbed a plate, and sat down at one of the tables. She sat there for a while, before a burly seawing sat down across from her.

“Hey.” He greeted her.

“Uhm, hi.” Sunny replied. “Who are you?”

“I’m Kelp, nice to meet you.” The seawing replied.

“Sunny.”

“Now what are you doing here eating all alone?” He asked.

“I… uh.”

“I just got back from my break at the deep palace to find the most beautiful dragon I’ve ever seen eating all by herself. So, I just had to join her.”

Sunny blushed. “Well… I”

“So.” He took a bite out of a fish. “You free later?”

“No.” Sunny shook her head. “Sorry.”

“You sure? I don’t have any shifts ‘till tomorrow.”

“I’ll pass, thanks though.”

“Alright.” He shrugged. “What are you doing here anyway?”

“I’m a teacher at the academy.”

“Oh, nice. My brother goes there, Pike, you may know him.”

“Yeah, I know him.”

“Maybe I should come visit on my next vacation.” He replied. “Maybe see you and him.”

“Uhm, I’m engaged.” Sunny replied.

Kelp raised an eyebrow. “Then where’s this lucky male?”

“Injured while helping others, during the attack.” Sunny replied.

Kelp’s face fell. “Oh.”

“Do you know the names of the Dragonets of Destiny?”

“Uhm, Tsunami, Clay… Glory…. Starflight… and…. Oh!”

Sunny smiled. “I’m engaged to Starflight.”

“Oh, well, congrats then.” Kelp got up, and walked away.

Anemone appeared, and walked over to Sunny, smirking.

“You sure scared him off.”

“I’m not sure if I did. I couldn’t scare anything. But the thought of crossing Starflight scared him.” Sunny replied.

“Really?”

“He’s a nightwing, some people still think they’re scary.”

Anemone nodded. “Right, you would have to meet one to realize that’s not the case.”

“Yeah, or grow up with one.”

“Oh, I wanted to thank you for helping Tsunami.”

Sunny nodded. “It’s nothing.”

“I heard what happened to Starflight, tell him I said to get well.”

“Alright, I will.”

Anemone walked back to Tamarin, and they sat down together at a different table. Sunny smiled at them. They look so cute together. She finally cleared her plate, and walked back into her and Starflight’s room. He was awake, and looked up at her when she entered.

“How long have you been awake?” Sunny asked.

“Since you left, but it’s hard to sleep without you.”

She smiled. “Corny.”

“What have you been doing?”

“I went to eat something, then got hit on by a random seawing, then came back.”

Starflight looked surprised. “What?”

“Yeah, Pike’s older brother just got back here apparently, and he chose to join me.”

“What did you do?”

“I shut him down, don’t worry.”

Starflight smirked. “That’s my girl.”

Sunny curled next to him again, and quickly fell asleep.

Sunny woke up again the next morning, and checked on Starflight’s wounds, he looked like he was well enough to fly back to the academy. She smiled as she saw his sleeping face, enjoying the peace. Eventually, he woke up and groaned.

“Ugh, it feels like I was skinned and dipped in rainwing venom.”

Sunny chuckled. “That’s pretty graphic.”

“Well, I’m not far off.”

“You think you can fly today?”

“Probably, we can start the trip back.”

Sunny nodded. “Then you can relax for a minute, before we leave again.”

Starflight beamed. “Let’s hurry then.”

He got up, and stretched, Sunny watched him for a moment before following him out of the room. They walked into the mess hall for a quick meal before they bade their goodbyes and left through the main tunnel. Once they had dried off, they took flight and made their way back to Jade Mountain. After a few hours, Michael flew up to them and used his magic to boost them the rest of the way. They landed in front of the academy and were greeted by many enthusiastic faces. A few students cast surprised looks at Starflight, and started asking questions. Starflight deflected mostly, and managed to escape to check on his library. Sunny walked into her classroom to prepare for tomorrows lesson.

Moon looked up from her scroll, and over to her husband. She smiled a bit at the thought; My husband. He was writing a letter to Thorn, giving her an update on the seawing village situation, and had a focused look on his face. Moon had always thought that his look was goofy, and couldn’t help but sneak a look every once in a while. She turned back to her scroll just in time to hear random scraps of thought in the distance.

Wonder what he’s doing, his winglet mentioned something about a secret.

It was Mindreader, and she was looking for someone. Likely Bloodshed Moon smiled to herself.

Where is he? Is he avoiding me?

She’s HERE! How did she find me? Another voice rose

Moon chuckled a bit at hearing Bloodshed’s thoughts.

It isn’t ready yet, I need to distract her.

Moon decided to shut out their thoughts, and turned to Qibli.

“You done yet?” She asked.

“Almost.” Qibli replied. “I’m trying to be as detailed as possible.”

“Is it likely the sandwings will ally with the seawings?”

Qibli looked up. “Probably, the skywings aren’t too friendly with anybody.”

“Michael’s trying to stop a war, but with the skywings, it might just be inevitable.”

“I would have thought Ruby different, but then I found out that she has to follow the will of her people.”

“I don’t understand how Scarlet kept control all that time.”

“Fear, and lots of it.”

“It’s still hard to believe that Clay and Tsunami had to fight in that arena.”

“They pitted Starflight against seven icewings.”

Moon shook her head. “And Tsunami against her own father.”

“I don’t think Scarlet knew that, but it worked nonetheless.”

“They have been through a lot, and so have we.”

“Yeah, traveling to Pantala, saving the whole continent from an evil plant.”

“Now these titan things.” Moon sighed. “Will it ever end?”

Qibli chuckled. “At least one good thing came out of recent events.”

Moon smiled. “Yeah, I can see that.”

“And hopefully more to come.”

“Definetly.”

“I did want to ask you; what you thought about dragonets? I don’t mean now, but eventually.”

Moon looked over at him. “Little gold dragonets?”

Qibli looked confused for a moment, before smiling. “Yes, some of them will likely look like that.”

“I would like to have them, at some point.” Moon nodded.

Qibli beamed. “I can’t wait.”

“But I see a significant problem.”

“And that is…”

“How are we going to raise them at the academy?”

“I thought about that too, my thought was they could hang out with one of us all day, until they’re old enough to attend the academy. It will give them a head start in their academics.”

“And guarding their eggs for a year?”

“Didn’t you notice that Coltan has been wrapped around an egg since he got here? I imagine it won’t be hard to figure out. Things will hopefully have settled down by the time were ready.”

Moon nodded. “I wonder how Starflight’s doing, I heard he got hurt pretty bad.”

“He should be back by now, if not, soon.”

Moon walked over to the bed and settled down, Qibli signed the letter and set it to be mailed tomorrow.

“I just thought of another reason why the sandwings would ally with the seawings.” Qibli told her.

“Oh?”

“Sunny was there.”

Moon’s eyes widened. “Right, a sandwing and a seawing princess were there for the explosion.”

He settled in next to her. “Hopefully Michael can diffuse the situation.”

Turtle splashed back and forth, playing a game of tag with his sister. Kinkajou and Tamarin were chatting on the shore, watching their seawings. Anemone swiftly dived up and tapped him on his flank. He flipped around just as she vanished with a cloud of bubbles. He made chase, and eventually caught up to her and tapped on her tail as she growled in frustration. After a few more minutes, they finished their game and crawled out of the lake. Kinkajou smiled at him, and got up from her perch with Tamarin.

“You hungry, I’m hungry. Maybe they have peaches?” She spoke.

Turtle chuckled. “I hope so, they are delicious.”

Mastermind’s fish trap sprung, and it launched a fish directly at Turtles face. The others laughed as he picked up the flopping fish.

“These are good too.”

They walked over to the prey center, and noticed that Clay was struggling to catch a loose deer that must have escaped its encloser. Anemone quickly pounced the poor creature, and returned it to the fenced in area of the cave.

“Thanks.” Clay panted. “Those things are fast.”

Anemone nodded, and grabbed a salmon off the rack before joining Tamarin.

“Did we get any peaches?” Kinkajou asked.

Clay looked over to the pile of fruit. “You know, I think we did.”

Kinkajou’s scales changed to excited colors. “Yay, I’m so tired of the limited selection back at the seawing palace.”

Clay glanced over at Turtle. “Hey, I didn’t see you much during that trip, what did you do?”

Turtle shrugged. “Mostly hung out with my sisters and mother. Read some of her new stories, and talked with my brothers.”

Clay nodded. “Probably better you were away from the village then.”

“Yeah, I almost went with Tsunami just for fun, but decided to stay back at the last minute.”

Kinkajou hissed in a breath. “I’m glad you didn’t, I wouldn’t know what to do if you got hurt.”

Clay walked off to help another student, and Turtle turned to nuzzle Kinkajou.

“C’mon, you know me, I’ll be fine.”

“But how would I know that?”

“I walked away from my fight with Anemone with hardly a scratch.”

“Animus magic is gone, and Michael hasn’t decided if he is going to return his gifts yet.”

Turtle kissed the rainwing on her cheek. “I’ll survive, for you.”

Kinkajou blushed, and turned a nice shade of pink. They walked out of the prey center together, and found a quiet place to eat.
