Zach finds himself establishing limits with his amorous coworker. Will he stick to his guns?
Zach and Dan's new routine changed very little for the next couple of weeks. Zach would arrive early, Dan would already be there with coffee on his desk, and at the end of the day they would go to the gym with the weekends being a break from each other's company. They would go through their workout 'motivating' each other when no one was looking, and they would part ways at the sauna. Neither party had ventured beyond the limit established on their first day at the gym. Zach kept his distance under the guise of maintaining his professionalism and Dan circled the fringes of the husky's boundaries in wait. Even now, he could feel Dan's eyes watching him in the locker room.
Zach had even sort of grown to like the attention, a flash of red often visible at the top of his sheath. It was like a game of cat and mouse, seeing who would cave first? Would Zach give in to Dan's persistent attention or would Dan lose interest and begin to pursue someone else? Zach groaned in pain as they entered the locker room earlier, paw rubbing his neck as he leaned it first one way that the other. Try as he might, there was a pain he just couldn't seem to shake at the moment. He had pushed harder than usual during his set today. Needing to buy a smaller pair of slacks for the first time in years, Zach had doubled down his commitment in joining Dan for their gym sessions. He'd even amended his “usual" with Gorbo" and started to focus on what he was putting in his body. As Zach stripped he caught his reflection in the mirrored wall.
It doesn't look like I've made much improvement but it sure feels like it. I mean, my old pants no longer fit and my jock doesn't make me muffin top anymore. That's gotta mean something, right?
Dan had stripped down to just a jock behind him, amber eyes watching Zach stare at himself in the full size mirror. His head cocked in curiosity as Zach held up his arm and posed in the mirror. Dan let out an amused huff and copied the motion behind him, Zach's eyes drawn from his own form to the bulging muscle of the wolf. When Zach tried to turn his head away and look over his shoulder to Dan, he winced and flinched with a gasp. Dan's smile was gone in a flash.
“Sir, are you in pain? You didn't mention it when we finished the last set. Soreness is good but pain is not."
“A little pain, yeah. I think I overdid it on the shoulder lifts. I don't think I pulled anything though, I should be fine."
“May I examine?"
“Uuuuuh–" Zach paused, thinking to himself for a moment. How close to crossing the lines was this? I mean it really wasn't any worse than sniffing Dan as they lifted, or the way Dan got handsy when they stretched. His thoughts were interrupted.
“Zach, Sir– One of my previous jobs was massage therapy, I think I can help. Please, may I?" The idea of not being in pain this evening was an appealing one. Zach nodded reluctantly and winced once more. Turning his back to Dan, he tried to relax and stop his hackles from rising as a breath tickled his neck. Large paws gently rested on his shoulder, another on his side to hold him in place. Fingers began to prod his muscles up and down his neck, his shoulder, his back, looking for a sensitive spot. Zach hissed aloud when Dan found it.
“I thought so, it seems like it's just a knot. Not unusual by product of workouts. There's a trick to fixing them though."
“Yeah? Get a thumb on it and crush it out, right?" Zach almost whimpered as Dan's thumb gingery pressed around the knot.
“Incorrect." Those massive dangerous instruments of destruction began to delicately message on and around the offending area. Slowly those fingers worked deeper into the muscle as Zach groaned in relief. Dan was so gentle and skilled in what he was doing, Zach forgot he was in pain and lost himself in the sensation of Dan's fingers releasing the tension. Thumbs dug into his neck and shoulder muscle as the husky closed his eyes, reveling in the sensation. Zach didn't even notice the other gym members come and go through the lockers, giving him and Dan a curious look or disgusted look. There had been wolfish flashes of teeth, lips pulling back and muzzle wrinkling to show fangs at the onlookers who got too curious, causing them to keep their distance. Dan wanted them to stay away from HIS husky.
“Sir, did you hear me?"
“Wha– huh?" Zach hadn't noticed the fingers had stopped. His eyes opened once more to see himself in the mirror, Dan standing behind him. The desire to have him wrap his arms around him was a strong one, that musky wolf scent dense in the air around him.
“I said that should take care of it, Sir. How do you feel now, are you still in pain?" Zach rotated his neck and lifted his shoulders and found no pain. In fact, his neck felt better than it had in weeks.
“Wow," Zach said, taken aback
“Wow, Sir?." Dan's voice was low, strong paws were still on his neck. In fact, Zach noticed he was standing much closer than when they started. The sensation of Dan's breath on his neck tickled his fur, causing Zach to shiver. Claws began to rake through his fur and there was a rumble in Dan's chest as he watched Zach in the mirror. Zach looked back into those amber eyes, seeing the possessive look Dan wore upon his muzzle as he loomed over him. The wolf closed his eyes and pressed his nose into Zach's neck, scenting him with deep quick inhales. His eyes opened and teeth nibbled on Zach's neck as he felt Dan's sweat matted check push against his back. That overpacked jock pushed against the middle of his lower back and Dan stopped there, amber eyes meeting Zach's in the mirror as he waited for permission. Poised like the predator he was, ready to catch his prey. Waiting. Wanting. Hoping but needing permission from the husky. Zach shivered, so close to giving in. But instead he leaned away and out of the embrace. He'd expected a hurt look to appear on Dan's muzzle but a neutral mask overtook the white wolf's face instead.
“Thank you, Dan," Zach said. The wolf's eyes had never left his in the mirror, expression now unreadable. Zach took another step toward the mirror, breaking his gaze from the wolf to instead let his eyes roam over his own body once more. Six weeks into their routine and he was only just starting to see the results of his efforts under Dan's guidance. His love handles had faded, his old college jock fit once again, his stomach was on its way to being flat, and his shoulders were beginning to show definition. Dan watched him from where had been left, perking up as Zach's eyes found him once again. Zach's heart fluttered and he tried to clamp down on it.
The wolf rumbled, pleased, his tail swaying languidly behind him. “You're making good progress, Sir."
“Am I? It doesn't look like much," Zach said, turning to the side with a paw on his stomach. “I mean I know I had to get new pants and this certainly fits better," his thumb hooked his jock and let it snap against his waist. Dan let out a huff behind him.
“That's because you need to flex properly to really see the results., Sir."
“Yeah?"
“Indeed," Dan replied, stepping forward. “You know my relaxed appearance quite well but observe what the correct pose will reveal." He smirked, arms rising to a 90 degree bend as he rotated his wrists, elbows, and shoulders and tensed where he stood behind Zach in a double bicep pose. Dan had always appeared to have a bit of a hybrid build, straddling the line between swimmer and strong man. Suddenly, mountains appeared on Dan's biceps, cords appeared on his chest, and his armpit seemed to suck in on itself. Then he lowered his arms, knuckles digging into his sides level with his navel as he leaned back. Behind Zach, Dan was suddenly wide as a cobra head as the husky's eyes grew wide in shock. Dan chuckled as he relaxed out of his pose and one that emphasized his legs. Zach was mesmerized, a hot blush crossing his face as he bit his tongue between his front teeth. Dan was a hunk and Zach was soon using a paw to cover his bulge from any passing gym goers. Zach wondered what he would see if he tried it himself. Dan seemed to pick up on his train of thought.
“Would you like me to teach you?" Dan's tail was swaying behind him as. Zach nodded, silently consenting to have Dan's hands on him once more. The wolf approached and placed his hands on Zach's arms. With gentle pressure, Dan directed Zach into different poses and instructed him how to hold himself with the appropriate breathing techniques. Mimicking the poses Dan had just displayed, Zach was surprised to find he had much more muscle than he thought. He was far from as wide or defined but it showed just how far he had come while also reminding him of just how far he could go.
“See, Sir? It's all a matter of technique."
Dan's hands were on his hips, long powerful fingers poised to dip down into the jock. He wasn't looking into Zach's eyes this time, instead pressing his nose into the husky's head fur as he silently waited for permission. Hope for permission, rather. Zach found he didn't mind Dan being in his personal space, enjoying the warmth and scent of him. He quite enjoyed it actually, always had. The sensation of those claws gently scraping his hips was scintillating, Zach shivering in excitement finding that he wanted those hands to venture further into his shorts. The thought of his shorts falling away to allow Dan to nestle his sheath between his cheeks made him spill from his sheath. Images of the wolf raced through his head as Zach pictured Dan pushing him against the mirror and holding his hands up over his head. That wide and muscular body would be flexing as he huffed, hips working to force a prodigious member inside his rear as the husky drooled on the glass. The thought set his loins afire as he shuddered in desire, but that nagging barrier of professionalism forbade him from allowing more. Zach exhaled through his nose and stepped away, feeling those claws scrape on his hip. Dan was looking back at him in the glass, baleful amber eyes desperately trying to understand why he couldn't have just this one thing. And Zach found himself asking the same question.
“Thank you Dan, I really appreciate that." He turned and surprised the wolf with a tight hug, rubbing his face deep into his chest fur. The wolf wrapped his arms around him in turn, the pain of rebuke stinging slightly less.
“You are welcome, Sir," he replied quietly.
~~~~~~
Zach and Dan returned to their regular routine, splitting sways as the wolf went to the sauna and the husky went for the shower. The air between them had remained charged with tension with what had happened between them in the mirror. Yes, Zach had brushed off the wolf once again, just as he always had. But unlike the previous times, it felt like he had willingly let the wolf a pace closer inside that barrier he maintained.
Zach stood off to the side of the shower head waiting for the water to warm. He turned to look over his shoulder and found the large white wolf was sitting alone in the sauna. Just as expected, he was watching the husky through half lidded eyes. There was a towel draped over his lap per custom, not that it made much of a difference with what Dan was responsible for concealing. That prodigious sheath and sack simply refused to be contained at every opportunity. As Zach's eyes wandered over Dan, the wolf's head lifted to observe him with more interest. Dan's expression was unreadable but the twitch of his tail however was a give away of how hopeful he was.
He's always talking about how good the sauna is for relaxing muscles after a workout. Maybe I should give it a try? Another 30 minutes couldn't hurt, right?
Zach turned back around and stopped the flow of water from the showerhead, thinking to himself. Looking over his shoulder he could see Dan was more than attentive now, ears forward in focus, his expression hopeful. Grabbing his towel, he padded out of the showers and instead to the sauna. Taking a deep breath, he steeled himself and opened the door. Immediately, he was assaulted by the heat of the steam but was surprised to find there wasn't an overwhelming smell as he expected. The only smell currently was one that Zach was familiar with, the pervasive woodsy musk of the wolf sitting on the bench.
“Well this is a surprise, Sir. But I will say, it is a most welcome one." Dan's tail tip was twitching behind him as Zach crossed the room. The husky maintained a calculated space between them as he sat and placed the towel over his lap. Dan didn't move closer but he did relax deeper into the bench, spreading his arms wide on the tier of seats behind him and spreading his legs wide. Zach took a deep breath and tried to mimic the position, breathing deep through his nose and exhaling through his mouth. The sauna was warmer than he expected. Had he not already been covered in sweat from their workout it would have surely caused a skin crawling itch under his fur. It didn't take long before Zach was quietly panting, eying Dan's curious lack of response to the heat out of the corner of his eye.
“I know it seems oppressive now, Sir, but the heat helps relax your muscles and increase blood flow. It also helps reduce inflammation, but the first few times are uncomfortable for newcomers. Let me know if you start to feel strange and we'll leave."
“Strange?"
“Light headed, dizzy, unable to catch your breath. I don't recommend staying more than 10 minutes." Dan closed his eyes and leaned his head back.
“Okay," Zach responded, doing the same. Dan breathed deeply, taking in not only his scent but that of the husky next to him. A pleased rumble began to emanate from the lupine as an amber eye cracked open in his direction. His nose turned and sniffed down at Zach's underarm. That rumble deepened as a fang peaked out from his lupine muzzle, Zach turning to look at him with his own black ears laying flat in embarrassment.
“You always smell so good after our workouts, Sir. It's… nice. To sit with you I mean."
“You– you smell nice too, Dan. Always have."
“Thank you."
“You're welcome."
Dan moved his arm, fingers now walking along Zach's arm as the husky slowly turned red. He placed his palm on his Zach bicep, squeezing the muscle as a thumb brushed his fur. “Sir, if you don't mind me saying, I'm quite proud of the results you've achieved from our workouts. You are doing excellent and it looks good on you."
“Thank– thank you Dan. I don't think I'll ever be as big as you though."
The wolf huffed a chuckle, flexing his bicep near Zach's muzzle. The pheromones wafting from under his arm made Zach swoon at the sight, his towel beginning to tent. “Probably not, Sir. Wolves are naturally bigger, it's to our advantage."
“Oh?"
“Yes, I'll always be bigger than you. But get us into a distance race and you will run circles around me."
“I'm not nearly as fast as you."
“That's true Sir, but that required years of work. You'll naturally be able to run at the same pace all day."
“I guess that's true."
Dan's hand was resting on Zach's though now, playing with his fur. Zach noticed the change in Dan's scent. It was a familiar spice, one that he had smelled on the bench press many times. With nothing more than a towel attempting to cover the wolf's lap, the spicy scent had intensified beyond belief. Zach looked at Dan to see fangs poking out in a coy smile as he rubbed his black and white thigh. Zach could feel himself throbbing and spilling from his sheath once more. Zach's gaze dropped, watching Dan's towel move as if a snake was moving across his lap. Pulse by pulse it grew larger and longer under Zach's gaze until eventually it was over the side of Dan's hip and beginning to lift the towel. Zach gulped as a long streamer of pre dripped on the bench near him. His own member was now lifting his towel off his lap and Dan's hand was slowly working his way towards it, stopping short as he awaited Zach's permission.
“Dan," Zach said, cautioning the wolf. The wolf reluctantly pulled his hand away, his pleased growl stuttering to a stop as he leaned away from Zach.
“Sorry, Sir– side effects of a good workout, it's almost impossible to control. It also doesn't help that I have such attractive company sitting with me."
“Dan, I can't. I'm your Supervisor, it wouldn't be right."
“Of course, Sir. Just pretend it's not there." Dan closed his eyes, leaning back with a huff as he returned to his deep breathing exercises. However, his erection did not abate in the slightest and there was a puddle of pre slowly working its way towards Zach. The sauna stunk of wolf rut now and Zach's heart was racing as he throbbed pre into his own towel. Try as he might, Zach couldn't ignore it. Dan was ignoring him but Zach couldn't stop looking at the massive member, saliva filling his muzzle. He swallowed it away and stood.
“Dan, I think it's time for me to shower after all."
“I think that is a wise choice for us both, Sir."
Dan stood, standing and turning his back to Zach as he cleaned up the puddle of precum he had left on the bench. When he turned back around, he was blushing red under his ivory fur and struggling to cover himself with his arm as he concealed his tower of flesh from view. He refused to look at the husky. Zach was in a similar state of embarrassment as he opened the door and walked to the showers, tail low of his rear. When Zach stepped into the cold water, he bit back a yelp as his skin prickled with the temperature change. Dan occupied a separate shower head next to him, eyes observing Zach with a somber look. He was no longer erect, the cold water having done its job as intended. Zach was thankful that Dan didn't attempt to join him under the same shower head, or offer to wash his back. The wolf had pulled back and Zach was grateful. No words passed between each other as they continued their routine until they got to the parking lot. As they walked to their cars, Dan grabbed Zach's paw and stopped him. He looked unsure of himself, a shy look on his muzzle as he tried to think of what to say.
“Sir, I… I feel I should apologize. I don't want this to come between us."
“Dan, you don't need to apologize. You haven't done anything I didn't want you to do. I… I really do want… more. But I just can't… risk you losing your job over this. We can be friends… but that's all.."
Dan didn't respond at first, observing the husky. They both knew what they wanted, but the husky was still holding him at arm's length. He nodded dejectedly as he thought.
“Friends. I…respect your professionalism, Sir," his expression downcast. He thought furiously to himself, how to break this awkward stalemate.
“Dan–"
“Brunch," the wolf interrupted, his tail wagging as he brightened.
“Excuse me?"
“I said brunch, Sir. Tomorrow is Saturday, there is no work. Would you have brunch with me? With a friend?"
“Brunch?" Zach asked incredulously.
“Yeah, it's a late lunch. Breakfast and lunch. Brunch!"
“I know what brunch is, Dan." Zach could see right through the wolf and he smiled to himself. Even if he had denied the wolf's sexual advances, the wolf was changing tactics. He could let the wolf play this game. “Yeah, that sounds nice. Let's do brunch. It's not a date though, right?"
“No, not a date."
“Okay."
“Hey, you… you meant it, right, Sir? What you said earlier? We can stay friends through all this? Are… are we friends, Sir?" Dan was almost whimpering as the question hung heavy in the air. The question caused Zach to pause and he actually appraised the wolf. Dan genuinely looked concerned, almost on the verge of tears. His tail was twitching towards tucked and his ears were back in submission. He avoided Zach's eyes as he stood there, fingers toying with the gem of his shirt. “I just… I really like you, Sir. I know this might make me sound… pathetic but, I don't want to lose you." A whimper threatened to crawl out of his throat as it constricted tightly. “If…if all I can be to you is a friend, then I'll accept that. I will try–"
Dan was surprised by a firm hug, Zach wrapping his arms around him hard as the husky buried his head in his chest. Dan couldn't avoid the salty tears that spilled from his eyes and down on the husky's head. The one person who treated him like he held any sort of value, who saw him as more than just a predator or someone to avoid. When they broke the hug the wolf looked sad but he no longer looked like such a kicked puppy.
“Dan, I would be a fool to say we couldn't be friends. Yes, of course we can be friends. Tell me more about brunch.."
“Well, Sir, there's this place not far from here that I found a few weeks ago. Have you ever had eggs benedict?"
