Prologue: We start our own Modded Server
The prologue of what is hopefully just the first of many stories I'll be pumping out now that I'm back to writing. This introduces the main cast and a bit about what they're doing, as well as setting the stage for the rest of the story.
So, before we begin to my faithful readers who've been waiting for me to upload anything at this point, all I can say is I'm sorry. I've been hit by massive writer's block for a while, and this story finally dragged me out of a slump. That said, I hope you can all accept it when I say I THINK I'm back, and I will be working on this alongside my other stories. While also probably working on my original novels which I plan to get published in the next year or two. That said, I hope you enjoy and please comment, favorite, and follow my latest story Pokemon Dusk and Dawn: Tales of the Hybrid Mythos Clan.
Hello there, my name is Ross Lucas, and this is the story of my friends and I, known as Hybrid Mythos Clan. We’re a group of players in the new game Pokémon Dusk and Dawn, a VRMMO made by the Pokémon company with private servers. My Clan and I, who I’ll introduce shortly, pooled our money to get our own server, mods included, and more importantly paid the cash to get an 18+ only rating on our server.
There are 11 of us in the clan, and all but one of our members are located in the Silver City Arizona. The ten “Primary” Clan members, are my cousin, my best friends, and I. I Ross Lucas, a 25-year-old English professor and novelist, have been nominated the leader of the Clan, but that’s primarily due to me contributing the most mods to our server. My two seconds in command are my cousin Katrina, a 22-year-old professional streamer, and my best friend Dante “Dani” Shadow, a 25-year-old tech entrepreneur. The four Clan officers below the three of us are Anna Rose, a 29-year-old who joined the clan after I started working at her cafe, Eva Eridith, a 23-year-old baker for the cafe, Anna’s childhood best friend Carlos Nichols, a 27-year-old mechanic, and finally Megumi Kagebakuhatsu, a 24-year-old cosplayer who is a college friend of my cousin.
The four regular members of our Clan are Johanna Johnson, nicknamed JoJo, a 22-year-old waitress who works for Anna alongside Eva, JoJo’s adopted younger sister Calli Rose, an 18-year-old freshman at the local college, Lyra Thorn, a 26-year-old cosplayer who got my cousin and Megumi into cosplay and streaming, and “Zero,” a 21-year-old who we know nothing about, other than they loved the open world aspects of Scarlet and Violet. Zero of course is the only non-primary member of the clan due to the mystery of who they are.
Amazingly, between the eleven of us we were able to get the funds together to “buy” a lifetime subscription to a private server for the new Pokémon game, Dusk and Dawn, and on top of that it was a custom server that allowed mods. Dani was the one who suggested we make sure it was adults only, because all eleven of us were at least 18, and Dusk and Dawn already had some free servers that were adults only, even if they were age locked based on your credit card when buying the game. Of course, the 18+ version of the game was more expensive than a regular version, but it was worth it in our opinion. Although, being in the states, we were lucky that certain privacy laws had been put into place, otherwise some of our mods would be illegal.
That said, after we bought our new server, I requested everyone give me a list of three mods they HAD to have in the game, and that Dani and Kristina help me code out the mods, while I set up the server for us. It took the three of us a full two months to set up the server with all the mods, but by the time we were done I couldn’t help but grin at what we’d created.
To give you an idea of what the girls and I made, some of the mods were adding an RPG class system, alongside the natural job system of the game, adding a bit more realism to the world, adding two completely original regions, maximizing the effect of the Adult Content Filters being removed, and adding six extra Pokémon types that were completely original. We also added items and locations that could cause character transformations, hybrid Pokémon both humanoid and anthropomorphic hybrids, and even human and Pokémon relationships.
I’ll leave off the rest of the mods until they come up in the future, but besides all of that we also instituted a punishment system for if a character dies. The world will recognize the character’s death, and the player will be penalized by having to make a new character and having to suffer some kind of punishment. This is only possible due to the fact that when Game Freak and The Pokémon Company came out with Dusk and Dawn, they added the ability for Trainers to interact with the environment, and all Pokémon in a variety of new ways. Of course, with Dani, Kristina, and I’s tweaking this new element was taken to the extreme.
What that meant was that if one of our characters was hit by a Pokémon attack, it could seriously harm them depending on the strength of the attack. When the others found out about it, they cursed Dani and I out, believing we forced Katarina into it, which while not completely wrong is slightly inaccurate. You see, Kristina agreed but only because we allowed her to personally add her mods to the game, and because we agreed we’d take the blame.
Anyway, at midnight on January 1st, the year 20XX, my friends and I initiated our game, using a modified program Dani created, mixed with The Pokémon Company’s Dive Pods, we began playing on our original server, agreeing that we’d all play every night when everyone was done with work, and that those of us who were free could play while the others were busy.
On that day, The Hybrid Mythos Clan began our journeys, and little did we know, thanks to Kat, Lyra, and Megumi, we would become an adult streaming sensation. Because of that, we decided to write this novel together, each of us telling our story from our own perspective, so sit back, get comfortable, and strap in because this is going to be a hell of a ride told by 11 people.
