Wings Of Halloween (Halloween Special)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Happy Halloween Everyone!
Moon walked through the halls of the academy, and noticed Michael and Trice watching a gathering of students.
“What’s going on?” Moon asked.
“All hallow’s eve is in a week, and the school just did an assembly on how we were going to handle it.”
Moon stiffened. “We’re doing all hallow’s eve?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Well… I was hoping we would skip that one?”
“What!” Qibli popped up behind her “That’s one of my favorites!”
Moon jumped. “Qibli, stop that!”
“Aw, but I love to scare the dickens out of my loving wife.” Qibli smirked and nuzzled her.
“No, no more of that.”
“Aw… fine.” Qibli chuckled. “I’ll just scare everyone else.”
Moon rolled her eyes. “Anyway, how are we supposed to do this whole holiday?”
Michael nodded. “Well, you are supposed to dress up, and give students with really good costumes sweets.”
“Well… Qibli can do that, I’ll be with him.” Moon replied.
“What do you have against it anyway?” Qibli asked.
“Well, I usually don’t like being scared, and have had enough of scary things for a thousand lifetimes.” Moon told him.
“But this is a good kind of scary, where we can have fun.” Qibli replied
“Well… fine, I’ll dress up, but no pranks on me.” Moon shot him a look.
“Alright, but if you happen to be collateral, it’s not my fault.” Qibli chuckled.
The group separated for the night, Moon and Qibli entered their room.
“So…” Moon spoke. “It’s in two days, what should I wear?”
“You could be Morrowseer.” Qibli said, before bursting out laughing.
Moon frowned at him. “Really?”
Qibli froze, then nuzzled her. “Bad joke, sorry.”
“Maybe a real idea?”
“We could either be each other, or maybe a cool… like… zombie couple?”
Moon laughed. “Each other?”
“I don’t know, it was just an idea.”
“I kinda like the zombie idea.” Moon replied
“I’ll get it done.” Qibli fell onto the bed.
Moon followed him, and they fell asleep.
Moon helped put on Qibli’s makeup. Hers was already done, and now she was helping to cover him in fake blood, and drawing some bones.
“You’re done.” Moon told him, stepping back.
“Thanks honey.” Qibli smiled.
They both looked over in the mirror.
“This is cute.” Moon spoke.
“Yep, now we should go before the academy starts.” Qibli walked out of the room.
Moon followed, and they made their way to Moon’s classroom. They ran into Starflight and Sunny on the way, both were smiling happily. They both were wearing matching sun and moon costumes, with Sunny wearing a sun around her neck and a golden gown, while Starflight wore a crescent around his neck with a silver and black gown.
“Well well well, don’t you both look scary and cute?” Sunny greeted them.
Qibli laughed. “Yep, and you guys look cool.”
“Thanks.” Sunny smiled.
“We should hurry.” Starflight told them, the staff meeting starts soon.
They walked into the staff lounge, and admired all the costumes everyone was wearing. Clay and Peril had opposite tribes costumes, as Clay covered in red paint and Peril covered in brown paint. Winter and Lynx were both skeletons, Webs was a wizard, Blue and Cricket were ghosts, while Willow and Sundew were some sort of plant monsters.
“Alright everyone.” Sunny called. “We have less than 10 minutes before the students will start our first traditional hallow’s eve celebration. I have been made aware that some of you are awarding extra credit points for those who have the best costumes, which is completely okay, but I would like to enforce safe and non-offensive costumes, so just make sure there isn’t anything that could harm someone else.”
Everybody nodded, and split off to their assigned classrooms, Moon watched as the first students entered her class, and started handing out sweets. As they handed out candies, they also snacked a bit, and chatted, enjoying the happy spirit of the holiday. Eventually, Kinkajou, Turtle, Anemone, and Tamarin finally arrived.
“Sorry, we meant to come here first, but got distracted.” Kinkajou told them. “Clay had a ‘catch a pumpkin’ game.”
Turtle and Kinkajou were both dressed as scarecrows, while Anemone and Tamarin both went for a flower princess look. Tamarin looked proud, while Anemone looked slightly annoyed.
“Zombies, eh?” Turtle nodded. “Cool.”
“Yeah, thought it would be fun.” Qibli replied.
Moon handed each of them some sweets.
“Thanks.” Kinkajou took them and started eating. “So… how’d it all go?”
“Good, some really cool and unique costumes, a bunch of Qibli jumpscares, and us fattening ourselves.” Moon told the rainwing.
“Ah, they really made it good, didn’t they?” Turtle laughed. “What did they call it again?”
“Peanut brittle.” Qibli told him.
“Yeah.”
Kinkajou leaned against Turtle, and yawned.
“Exciting night?” Moon asked.
“Yeah, there was some music and stuff outside the academy.” Kinkajou told her.
“Oh? I heard about that, but we decided to stay back and let the students run that dance floor for once.” Qibli smirked.
“Ah, I see.” Anemone laughed. “That’s your reason.”
There was a bell sounding through the school.
“Alright, that’s ten, time for everyone to go to bed.” Moon told them.
“Aw…” Kinkajou joined. “Can’t we hang out?”
“You have classes tomorrow, you’re not a teacher yet.” Qibli told her. “Once you graduate you can stay up as late as you want.”
“Ugh, fine.” Kinkajou sighed “C’mon Turtle.”
Turtle nodded goodnight to the others, and the classroom emptied. Moon smiled to Qibli.
“Let’s go get cleaned up.” She told him.
Qibli nodded, and they walked back to their room.
After all the dragons had fell asleep, and the academy was quiet, Starflight woke with a start. He looked around his room, and sighed. He got up, making careful sure not to wake up Sunny. He walked out of their bedroom and out into the teacher’s hallway. He didn’t know why he left the warmth of his mate to wander the halls, but he decided to look for the cause of his sudden wakefulness. He walked out into the main entrance hall, and watched as the moonlight shone into the large room. After a minute of sitting around, Starflight heard the pitter patter of small footsteps. He turned just in time to see the strange form of a human disappear around a corner.
“Hello?” Starflight called.
He followed the human down deep inside of the mountain, the tunnel got narrower and narrower. Eventually he reached a large cavern, with a pristine pool of water in a corner. Starflight spotted the human, and realized it was female by its long hair. She floated in the middle of the pool, before her head vanished under the water. Starflight watched for a minute, then walked up to the pool. He noticed with a gasp that there was nothing in the pool.
“Nope nope nope.” Starflight backed away.
He lookwed around the cavern, realizing that he had never been here before. Eventually he left, and started running. After an unknown amount of time, minutes or hours, Starflight couldn’t tell, he became lost in the tunnels. Eventually he arrived in a more familiar location, where Stonemover sat petrified in the middle.
“Oh, hello Starflight.” Stonemover blinked awake.
“Hi…” Starflight panted.
“And what could be the reason for this late visit?” Stonemover asked.
“I… have no idea. Some weird things are happening.”
“Like…?”
“I woke up, don’t know from what or why, then walked out to find a human. I followed it down deep into the mountain, and it disappeared in an underground lake.”
“Well… bit of an odd thing to see on all hallow’s eve.” Stonemover replied.
Starflight nodded. “I… am still processing it.”
“So, how are you and my daughter?”
“We’re good, she’s happy.”
“I’m glad, thank you for making her happy.”
“No need, she makes me super happy.”
“You should probably return to her then.” Stonemover sighed.
“I’ll tell her you said hi.” Starflight told him.
“Really? After telling her about your little adventure?”
“Of course, goodnight.”
“Goodnight Starflight.”
Starflight left and made his way back to the main part of the academy. He made sure that the human wasn’t back at the entrance hall, before returning to his bedroom. He paused as he walked through the door, watching as Sunny laid asleep on their bed. The golden sandwing was half covered by the sheet, and she seemed like she was uncomfortable. Starflight couldn’t help but smile and watch as his wife’s chest rose and fell, twitching her legs or wings occasionally. Eventually he snapped himself out, and crawled back up around her.
“Mphm” Sunny groaned
Starflight nuzzled her, and she fell back to her slumber. Starflight laid there for a while, before falling back asleep.
Sunny woke early in the morning, Starflight was wrapped around her as usual, and she gently nuzzled his snout. Starflight smiled and nuzzled back.
“Hey, time to get up?” He asked.
“Yep.” Sunny nuzzled her. “Sadly, I didn’t get much sleep.”
“You didn’t?”
“No, I had this weird dream where you weren’t with me, and there were these like… piercing eyes staring at me from the end of our bed.”
Starflight rubbed the back of his neck. “That might have been me?”
“What?”
“Something weird woke me up, so I got up and wandered about for a while, thought I saw a human but it disappeared, then saw your dad before coming back.” Starflight explained. “Then when I got back, I saw you… and couldn’t help but to watch you for a second.”
Sunny melted. “Aw, but that must have been a weird time for you.”
Starflight sighed. “Very weird, it makes me wonder if there are humans under the school, living in a settlement deep under the school.”
“Probably, this mountain is riddled with caverns and tunnels.” Sunny got up and stretched.
Starflight followed her. “Well, the first class starts in a half hour.”
“Alright, I love you, see you in a few.” Sunny nuzzled him, before rushing out of the room.
Starflight nodded and watched her leave, before making his way to the library.
