Winter landed next to the entrance of a cave, there were humans around, working on various tasks. He looked over at the imposing entrance to the cave, and Lynx landed next to him.

“Alright, let’s get this over with.” She spoke.

Winter nodded, and they walked into the cave. Winter was amazed at how the humans were able to survive down here for hundreds of years.

“So…” Lynx spoke.

“What?”

“Well… I was wondering, when we were getting married?” Lynx blushed.

Winter’s head snapped up and looked over at her. “Uh… you want to?”

“We already asked permission from the queen. Do you?”

“I do, maybe we should send a letter to Snowfall.”

“Are you sure you want to get married there? That means that all of our non-icewing guests wouldn’t be able to attend, expecially Qibli.”

Winter nodded. “Well, I do want to do it traditionally.”

“Oh, I didn’t know that.”

“Snowfall is my cousin, and I would like for her to officiate.”

“So, not Michael?” Lynx turned to him.

“Well, I want to do it in the traditional fashion of our tribes, but if you want Michael to marry us at the academy, I can accept that.”

“I want you to be happy too.” Lynx smiled.

“As long as you’re my wife in the end, I’m okay with whatever.” Winter smiled back.

“Let’s get it done traditionally, but maybe we can get Snowfall to do it at Jade Mountain?” Lynx suggested.

“That would be nice.” Winter nodded.

They walked for a while, before stopping to take a break.

“Not sure how long we’ve been walking.” Lynx told him.

“Few hours, three or four.” Winter replied.

Lynx nodded, and laid down next to him. “Let’s just go to sleep.”

Winter nodded, and Lynx laid her head on him.

“I love you.” She whispered.

“I love you too Lynx”

“The eclipse is tomorrow.”

“Oh, sorry we missed it.”

“They happen once every few years, we’ll catch the next one.”

Winter nodded, and they fell asleep together.

Tsunami led the Jade Mountain students out of the academy, there was some excited whispers, and many had made special devices that allowed them to see the sun without damaging their eyes. She looked over and noticed her brother and Kinkajou. She smiled as she saw them laying in the grass together, Kinkajou curled against him. She scanned the clearing, making sure there weren’t any problems, before turning her attention to Riptide.

“So, the nightwings are gone for a while, so the chances of getting a prophecy on a day like this are lower.”

“Starflight, Fatespeaker, and Moon are still here, even if they aren’t going to be moving around much.”

“Well, we have a year before I become queen, and the school year ends in a few months. There’s still a chance something might happen.”

“Just relax, enjoy the moments.” Riptide smiled. “Then when the time comes, we will be together in the seawing kingdom.”

“Well, I might get to see more of Auklet, before she convinces me to send her here.”

“Yeah, that’ll be nice.”

Tsunami laid down on the grass, and Riptide curled around her.

“Did your mother ever send word about our wedding?”

Tsunami blushed. “She didn’t, but she said she would after she sets everything up.”

Riptide beamed at her. “Well, I can’t wait.”

Everybody looked up, and noticed that the eclipse has begun.

“Hope Starflight and Moon are okay.” Tsunami spoke.

“They should be fine, they both have sandwings to be there for them.”

Tsunami nodded, then laughed. “They are a lot alike, it’s funny.”

Riptide nodded, then turned and looked around at all the students.

“I always thought the pairings have been cute, it was the thing that I least expected to happen.”

“Yeah, I found it odd too, our academy brought Moon and Qibli together, Turtle and Kinkajou, and so many others.”

“Where’s Anemone these days?” Tsunami replied, looking around.

“I think she’s been hiding with all the rainwings, I keep finding her asleep with them during suntime.”

“Wait, really?”

“Yeah, I found her two days ago curled up with Tamarin and the other rianwings, fast asleep, I think she does that most days.”

Tsunami looked over, and sure enough, Anemone was laying with the rainwings, talking and laughing.

“She looks comfortable.” Tusnami smiled.

“Yeah, I saw that too.”

Anemone noticed that Tsunami was looking watching her, and smiled brightly. Tsunami smiled back, and watched as Tamarin said something to her, making her blush.

“Next time you catch her during suntime, find me, I want to see it.”

Riptide nodded. “It’s adorable.”

The sun had been covered about halfway at this point, and Tsunami watched as the students used their devices to check its progress.

“So, I think Clay and Peril are supposed to be wed next.” Riptide spoke.

“Yeah, in a month or so.” Tsunami nodded, looking over at the two dragons.

Clay was, as usual, eating from a pile of food, while Peril laid with him and relaxed. Tsunami looked back at Riptide, and laid her head on him.

“It looks cool, but we shouldn’t be looking at it.” Tsunami chuckled.

“Yeah.” Riptide laughed.

A shadow fell over them as the moon completely covered the sun. Tsunami looked up and was dazzled when she saw the ring of fire in the sky. She smiled over at Riptide, and they shared a kiss.

Winter woke up, having no idea what time it was. He looked over at Lynx, who was still sleeping soundly. He got up and stretched, before looking around the small cave they were staying in. After a minute, Lynx lifted her head and yawned, before smiling and looking over at him.

“Good morning.”

“If that’s what it is.” Winter replied.

Lynx looked around. “Oh, right.”

“Ready to go?”

“Sure.”

Lynx got up, and they made their way to the old underground city.

“So, the humans here used to survive off of the blind fish?” She asked

“Yes, and some weird fungi.” Winter replied.

They made their way through the main tunnel to the massive hole where the throne of the othermind was placed. Winter looked down, and saw the scarred rock where the breath of evil was once held.

“It’s around here somewhere.” Lynx spoke. “Let’s start looking.”

They searched for hours, but were interrupted when a set of voices rang from a nearby tunnel.

“I don’t know about this place Misty; this is where the othermind controlled all of us.”

“It’s fine, the plant is long dead, and even the humans left. This is the best place to hide.” A female voice replied. “Were alone.”

The two icewings peered around the corner and saw two hivewings walking through the tunnel. They stopped and the male, Hornet, turned to face Misty.

“In that case…” Hornet walked forward and nuzzled Misty.

Winter saw the serious expression on her face, and was worried for a moment, before Misty broke down and giggled at him. After a minute, she returned the affection, and Winter felt Lynx’s tail curled tighter around his. Winter could see the look on Hornet’s face as he nuzzled Misty, and recognized it, he had it once with Moon, and has it now with Lynx. He looked over at the other icewing, who’s eyebrows were wide. They watched as the two hivewings kissed and nuzzled for a while, before they eventually broke apart.

“Why did you have to start a war?” Hornet asked.

“You know why, they killed both of our families and burned down our home. They killed thousands.”

“I know… but it wasn’t all of them.”

“Yes, but they never punished the ones who did, they refuse to even acknowledge it. That is why they must go.”

“But… maybe… we could do something else?”

“Like what?” Misty turned to him.

“Maybe… we could… find a nice spot, I don’t know, settle down… maybe have a family?”

Misty’s jaw dropped, Hornet looked like he had prepared himself for rejection, and had closed his eyes.

“You… you want that?” Misty asked.

Hornet opened his eyes, and looked over at her. “I want it more than anything, I want to raise dragonets with you.”

Misty was stunned. “I… uh…”

Hornet looked down. “Look, I know you have this vendetta against all leafwings, and I’ll follow you wherever you go. But we don’t have to do this, we could move into a nice cave somewhere quiet, have a bunch of dragonets, live a happy life.”

Misty looked over at him sadly. “Look, they killed our families, I can’t rest until my sister is avenged.”

“I know.” Hornet sighed.

She put a hand to his cheek. “I love you, and always will, I want you to be happy too, I want that for us when were done.”

Hornet nodded, and Winter couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. Misty looked at Hornets expression, and smiled weakly.

“Thanks for staying with me.”

“Always.” Hornet replied.

“Maybe we can get started on your plan?” She smirked.

Lynx grabbed Winter’s paw, then pointed at something on the other side of the cave. Winter looked over and noticed that there was a hidden alcove in the large room, the alcove was the perfect size for storing a staff. The two hivewings walked out of the room, and Winter rushed over to the alcove. He reached into it, and pulled out the stone staff.

“I feel sorry for Hornet now.” Lynx spoke.

Winter nodded. “He really loves her, and she loves him too.”

“I just wish that they stopped, and thought for a moment that more violence is not the answer.” Lynx sighed.

“Yeah.”

“So… what now?”

“I think we should get out of here before Misty realizes we’re here.” Lynx replied

Winter nodded, and they started walking into the tunnel that led to the exit. After a few hours they emerged and blinked at the bright sun.

“Wow, seems brighter than I remember.” Lynx chuckled.

Winter nodded, and blinked more. It took them a while to get used to the sunlight, but eventually they took flight and made their way to Phyrria.

Cricket opened her eyes, and saw Blue looking over at her and smiling.

“What?”

“Nothing, you were smiling in your sleep, it was cute.” Blue blushed.

Cricket blushed back. “Oh.”

“So… what do we want to do today? It’s a study day for our students, so were free to do whatever.”

Cricket smiled. “Want to fly to the rainforest, maybe bring Bee with us?”

Blue nodded. “That sounds nice.”

They got up and stretched, before packing a few things and wandering over to Sundew and Willows cave. The two leafwings were eating with their adopted hivewing daughter. Bumblebee smiled at them when they entered.

“Hi.” She spoke.

“Hello.” Cricket smiled at her.

“What’s up?” Willow asked.

“We were wondering if we could steal Bumblebee for a fun day in the rainforest?” Blue replied.

Bumblebee’s face lit up, and she turned to her parents. “Can I? Can I? Can I?”

Willow nodded. “Go ahead, have fun Bee.”

Bumblebee squealed and rushed over to hug Cricket. Sundew smiled and yawned, before walking into the bedroom. Blue picked Bumblebee up, and set her on his back, and they walked out of the academy. Bumblebee hugged Blue, and they took flight. Cricket let Blue take the lead, and watched him as he talked with Bumblebee, and as they played together. She smiled as the little hivewing stood on Blue’s back, and couldn’t help but feel slightly proud of him. She couldn’t wait to have dragonets of her own. After a few hours of flying, they landed in the nightwing village. Cricket spotted Hope laying on a patch of grass nearby, Peacekeeper was playing in a patch of wild strawberries, and Cricket smiled at the sight.

“Hey.” Blue greeted Hope.

Hope smiled. “Hey guys, long time no see.”

“Yeah, it’s been a while.” Blue set Bumblebee down.

“Who’s this?” Hope looked at the small hivewing.

“This is Bumblebee, I saved her from Queen Wasp back in the Pantalan war. She lives with Sundew and Willow now.” Cricket explained.

“Who’s that?” Bumblebee pointed at the other dragonet.

“That’s Peacekeeper, my son.” Hope smiles. “You can go talk to him.”

Bumblebee nodded, and walked over to Peacekeeper. Cricket watched them talk for a minute, before turning to Hope.

“How’s the village doing?”

“It’s been nice, quiet since the eclipse, but nice.” Hope replied.

“Yeah, the academy has been silent too.” Blue replied.

“The tribe had many healthy eggs last year, and are hoping for many more this year.” Hope told them.

Cricket nodded. “Did you here; Sunny and Starflight are expecting.”

Hope gasped, then smiled. “Good for them, more sandwing nightwing hybrids.”

“I heard Fatespeaker might be pregnant too.” Blue added. “She came here for the eclipse.”

Hope nodded. “Good for her too, I only met her once.”

They turned and watched as the two dragonets started picking strawberries.

“That’s cute.” Blue chuckled. “Have you two been thinking about having any on your own?”

Cricket blushed. “A bit.”

“I’ll leave the subject then, why are you here today?”

“Were going to the rainwing kingdom to have a day of fun.”

Hope smiled. “Nice.”

After a while, Blue and Cricket called Bumblebee back to them so they could return their journey. It took them a half hour to make it to the rain kingdom, and landed on a tree platform near the center of a village. They walked into the fruit markets, while Bumblebee was sleeping on Blue’s back.

“That is adorable.” Cricket smiled.

“Yeah.” Blue replied.

“You would be a great father.” She added.

Blue blushed, and Cricket nuzzled against his neck. Blue felt overwhelmed for a moment, then they walked through the market. After buying some fruit, the group flew up to a sunbathing platform, and woke Bumblebee up for lunch.

“So… I heard you’ve been bothering Tsunami, Michael, Starflight, and Sunny about letting you join the academy.” Blue spoke.

“Yeah, I really really really want to go.”

“But you’re a little young.” Cricket replied.

“Your young, and you’re teaching there.” Bumblebee replied.

Blue laughed and looked over at her. “She might as well be our daughter.”

Cricket blushed heavily, and looked away. Bumblebee looked between the two parental figures before her.

“What just happened?”

“Oh, nothing.” Cricket turned back to her.

Bumblebee was confused. “When are you two getting married?”

“We don’t know yet, but I did here you were the flower girl at Sundew and Willow’s wedding.” Cricket changed the topic.

Bumblebee beamed. “Yeah, everybody called me adorable and I stood next to Sundew the whole ceremony.”

Cricket and Blue chuckled.

“But grandma didn’t seem to like me much.”

Both of their faces fell.

“You met Belladonna?” Cricket asked.

“Yeah, she seemed really grumpy for some reason.”

The two older dragons exchanged looks.

“Some of the other leafwings looked confused to see me, but they seemed to accept it.” Bumblebee added.

“Good.” Cricket nodded.

They finished their lunch, and got ready to go. Bumblebee climbed onto Cricket’s back for the trip home, and they started their return to the academy. On their way, Cricket kept catching Blue glance at her, and could see him hide a smirk every time he did. Bumblebee snuggled against the back of her neck as they flew, which filled Cricket’s heart with pride. Blue touched the tip of his wing against hers, and they made their way home.
