PART: ONE HUNDRED & FORTY NINE.

T he journey via a black SUV from the Moor Bridge city to the rendezvous had been uneventful, while it had taken several hours to reach their first of several destinations. The accompanying pokémon had been uncharacteristically silent if not outright behaved throughout the whole journey, their trainer was fast asleep thanks to the groups espeon. The SUV sowed to a stop at route six just beyond the Obscura Forest where a sleek black and red helicopter waited, Erillia made short work of levitating Jacks slumbering form out of the vehicle before transporting him in through the sliding passenger door.

“Shouldn’t be much longer now”

Ahsoka noted as she eased herself in next to the pilot, leaving the pokémon to clambering into the back though with only four seats in the passenger section Oni had to sit upon Bunny’s lap. Something Lucy had to do with Blaze, Toph had already curled up on Erillia’s lap leaving the last seat was left vacant for Jack who was being strapped in by Agent Stone who proceeded to slide the door shut before getting a safe distance.

Bracing himself Stone winced as he watched the helicopters engine start to whine with an almost chirping sound as the rotors cycled to speed, seconds later its landing gear lifted off of the ground as it started to move pitching forwards slightly as it did so.

Watching them leave into the distance from the SUV, Stone let out the breath he had been unaware of holding.

“Well not my monkeys or my circus for a while now, thank arceus!”

He whispered still feeling sore from nearly being crushed alive earlier that day, he made a mental note to get drunk when he got back to Moor Bridge City, he had more than earned it that much he was sure off. While up in the helicopter Ahsoka leaned back in the front passenger seat, her eyes closed slightly hearing the sound of the pokémon behind her in the rear of the cabin.

“Lop…Pun…Pun…Punny…Lopunny…Lo…Pun…Unny…Pun…Lop…Lopunny?”

[That felt weird, wonder if that’s how flying types feel when they leave the ground?]

Bunny mused, her fingers running though Oni’s grey fur. The Weavile for her part did not seem to mind the attention, she could hear a purring sound emanating from Oni, the lopunny had to silently concede the sound had a soothing sensation to it that she had not expected.

“Lu…Car…Rio…Cario…Lucario…Rio…Luca…Lucario…Rio…Lucario”

[It was like jumping but slowly, with the same lurching of the stomach]

Lucy piped up feeling Blaze’s arms wrapped around her, drawing her against the Blaziken’s muscular chest.

“Gardevoir…Voir…Gar…De…Voir…Gardevoir…De…Voir.”

[I must agree, compared to levitation…this…feels…unnatural.]

Erillia noted with a sense of unease, even Toph looked uncomfortable despite the espeon’s best attempts to look nonchalant.

“We…Vile…Weavile…Vile”

[Try to bear with it, for now]

Oni grumped trying to keep her last meal from exiting her body via her muzzle, with the human vehicles on the ground she could still experience the reassuring sensation of the ground as the wheels moved over it.

“Lo…Pun…Unny…Lop…Lopunny…Punny…Unny…Lopunny…Lop…Pun…Punny…Pun?”

[How does it even fly without wings; surly the spinning planks above cannot hold it aloft?]

Bunny Whined, her paws holding her long ears around her in an attempt to comfort herself as the helicopter sped through the air high above, the scenery below passing by at surprisingly swift pace as it offered up how a flying type pokémon might see the ground below when soring amongst the clouds and what might have taken months on foot was covered in just the best part of a couple of hours. Looking through the cockpit windshield Ahsoka could see the off shore island coming into view in the distance, the closer they came the clearer the team rocket base became. Running along the entirety of the approaching a runway strip could be seen; it looked even from that distance as though it could accommodate a cargo plane, alongside it a considerable sized facility of varying interconnected buildings that soon starting to become more noticeable.

“We’ll be landing soon, when you exit crouch and stay crouched until you’re beyond the big circle were about to land on.”

Ahsoka spoke into her head set, her words just audible over the din of the helicopter’s engines crackled over the small speakers in the rear of the aircraft, when at last the helicopter began to descend, with a jerk the copters skids made contact with the landing pad. The noise of the engines.

Though only Erillia and Blaze needed to crouch down as all six pokémon exited the helicopter bent down as overhead the rotor blades even as they begun cycling down continued to move with a lethal velocity.

“Lo…Pun…Unny”

[Thank Arceus…”

Bunny whined still holding her ears close to her head, the moment she was several feet away from the landing pad she stood up.

“Blaze…Aken…Blaziken…Blazi…Zi..Ken…Blaziken!”

[I’m not looking forwards to going back on that…thing!]

Blaze grumbled as she reached far enough to stand up right again just as Oni had started to comment on her thoughts of the ride; she started losing the contents of her stomach something that caused Lucy to accompanying her in a rather unsightly display.

“Gardevoir…Voir…Gar…De…Voir…Gardevoir…Garde…De…Voir…Gardevoir Devoir Gardevoir Gar De Voir”

[It is to far for me to teleport us back, even if it wasn’t; all of you would need to be in pokéballs, to mitigate the strain upon my mind to initiate an attempt]

Erillia noted with a sigh, she too had no interest in being aboard such a contraption for a second time, it was then Toph choose to speak for the first time during the whole journey.

‘How crass, that one such as one’s self, must use one’s voice to commune, but if one must…then one must. While one’s self cannot use a technique to psychically transverse distance, one can boost any attempt made by Erilia'

The gardevoir turned her gaze on the small espeon for a moment, Jack still hovering by her hip as she considered this option carefully before replying to Toph.

“Gard…De…Voir…Gardevoir…De…Voir…Garde…Gardevoir”

[Yes, it is…possible and the mental strain would less…taxing]

Erillia mused, just behind her Bunny let out a frustrated whine as she found herself caught between wanting to Jack get the help he needed and her own impatience to get her hands on all the humans that had been promised to her. She was wide eyed with her mouth a gap as her eyes darted from one human male to another, every fibre in her body screamed at her to leap upon every last one of them, maybe drag them away somewhere no one would ever find them, where she might take her time in satiating her carnal hunger with every last one of her male human victims.

After the best part of three hours since disembarking from the helicopter, Bunny; Oni and Blaze had been led towards a different area of the island facility not that Erillia felt any interest towards her teammate’s activities, the gardevoir has her own agenda to contend with that did not coincide with theirs, primarily being that of her Jack’s well-being and safety. Who, for the last hour and a half had been lain out over a padded platform within a wide circular opening. Toph was with her continuing to ensure Jack remained in a state of unconscious throughout the process, both stood there with in the control booth just adjacent to the sterile room the MRI scanning equipment along with their trainer was located.

“Ah most interesting, you see this area of the spine”

A grizzled old woman mused to no one in particular, her thin finger tapping against the large screen much to the technologist’s distress at the treatment of his equipment. She was dressed in a long white lab coat over an old blouse was along with a tweed skirt that reached down to her ankles, Erillia could see a few long whisker-like hairs curling from old human’s chin.

“Let’s pretend I’m not educated in orthopaedical medicine”

Ahsoka grunted, she knew what a spine looked like as well the vertebrae, she had caused irreversible damage to enough of them when dealing with numerous targets in the past to understand what she was looking at, though that was about it. The old woman chuckled at this, a smile spreading across her heavily wrinkled features as she added.

“It’s, what is referred to a herniated disc, or in layman terms multiple slipped disks.”

The doctor noted as she noticed the gardevoir doing her best to try not to be obvious at how she was staring at how her dentures moved on their own whenever she spoke.

“It’s not a severe case, though I can imagine it will have left the young man weakened and having trouble being active let alone able to be on his feet for more than short periods of time, though I am perplexed as to why we need to treat someone outside the organisation, care to enlighten me?”

The old doctor continued to speak, though it was a little more complicated than she had explained to Ahsoka, yet at the same time simple enough in layman terms to be understood by what she considered to be little more than some brutish sub-human specimen. Still, what had her puzzled was why valuable resources were being squandered upon a young trainer outside the team rocket organisation. Under normal protocols this trainer’s pokémon would have been stripped from him, conditioned to be utilised as needed for the benefit of team rocket, however it was by regional director’s intervention that this was decision that this was bypassed. And while as foolish as she believed this to be, the director was in charge of all the operations currently going on throughout the anthro region alson with all the facilities in that area, as such there would be absolutely no wiggle room to argue against such a decision regardless of how logical a case she might put forward.

“The…Subject…is an essential means to an end, as such the subject’s ability to operate in a fully able manner is required, however your understanding as to why…is not required.”

Ahsoka noted cooly, while she could understand the doctors’ sentiments about pokémon being an exploitable commodity, the curiosity could see the old woman going inexplicably missing.

“HMMMPH, well regardless, we now have a treatment plan. Start off utilising a none invasive method via chiropractic means. Followed by a treatment of cortisone injections to reduce the inflammation, careful observation will be required to watch out for any of the more serious side effects.

I am positive that given said procedures along with adequate enough time to recover, he…uh…the subject should be in more than optimal conditions for whatever purpose is required of them.”

The old doctor noted dispassionately as Erillia kept her silence, the gardevoir fighting back the urge to reduce the old woman to a perfect spherical volume that could easily fit in a pokéball without the need for the digitization of physical matter. But Erillia still had some use for the doctor so she would tolerate the aged human…at least for now.

Toph looked up at the gardevoir for a moment and gave a slight nod I her agreement with decision to maintain a level of restraint, even while retaining her human in a state of deep slumber she could still pick up on the surface thoughts of the two female humans present without even trying. Time would pass with the two female humans discussing Jack's treatment when became aware of a psychic presence trying to slip into Jack’s helpless mind, of course she had shut that down straight away, she was even mildly impressed when Erillia repelled a second attempt.

She was not resentful for the attempted probing, just disappointed at how unsubtle the unknown psychic had been, that was when she felt a shudder fill her psyche. There was an intrusion in her mind, a second presence that she had failed to detect but it was now writhing in absolute agony, looking back up she could see the gardevoir smiling that cruel wide malevolent smile. Erillia had not stopped at repelling Jack’s psychic interloper, no she had gone on the offensive with what retaliatory action the gardevoir was bringing to bare... Toph had no idea but from the screams that had suddenly and disturbingly come to an abrupt stop in her mind the espeon found herself not wishing to know.
