Pangoro vs Slowking

Pangoro and Slowking face off against each other, with Slowking getting a power up through some evolutionary means


Pangoro and Slowking stepped forward, with Pangoro wondering what Slowking was up to… He had heard that a slowking and a slowbro can go back from their evolution line in favor of changing into another one… Though he thought those were just rumors in the past, the former Slowbro was now Slowking.

“Tell me, how did you manage to change your state? That is impossible to do… Those are just rumors. Once you evolve, you can never go back!” Pangoro demanded to know as he looked at Slowking.

“There is no harm in telling you I guess… The simple, but not so easy part, is that the shell biting my tail simply had to be opened up and placed somewhere else…” Slowking explained to him.

Pangoro looked at the shell on his head, and finally put two and two together…

“Wait… You’re telling me that you removed that large shell from your tail and then…” Pangoro said, imagining what had happened next.

“Yes, I had my colleagues remove the shell… And so it turns out, I feel a lot stronger than before… While what helped me survive was my numbness and hardiness towards pain, I think it’s better this way. It was a painful process getting that thing to clamp on my head, it now feels more like a crown. And I can feel myself thinking on a faster level than before” Slowking stated.

“I see… Sorry but I have no grudge against you, but it doesn’t mean I’m not willing to beat you in this fight” Pangoro said as he held his fists up, his gauntlets radiating dark energy.

“Oh I actually did expect you to fight. It would be boring to me if you didn’t go all out” Slowking smiled as his body glowed, and suddenly sprouting from his back, were psychic type arms that got conjured from his mind, all making fists, and ready to beat Pangoro.

“Ngh…!?” Pangoro wasn’t expecting that… That was the power that Slowking had managed to awaken inside him?

Pangoro charged to close in the gap between them, but saw that the arms weren’t for short ranged attacks, Slowking wasn’t even going to let him get close!

Pangoro dodged a few blows before he had no choice but to try and blocking them… Only for the fists to roundabout towards his back and struck him there.

“Gah…!” Pangoro was sent rolling forwards, before getting right back up.

“It’s such a shame I never really had a chance to test the limits of my newfound power… At most, I could levitate things, but now, I can conjure so many objects with this. My imagination’s only the limit as far as I can tell” Slowking said before he retracted his hands and conjured a hammer with his crown.

“...!” Pangoro dodged the hammer, only to realize that a second hammer appeared right above him.

Pangoro dodged again, only to see a third one, and then a fourth, a fifth, it went on and on with each dodge that he had no choice but to retaliate against the attack by punching it directly.

The pink psychic hammer shattered into pieces, only for the shards of psychic matter to suddenly converge towards his head like a helmet.

“Not only that Pangoro, but I can see what you are made up of. I can see that you are even made of 60% water…Isn’t that fascinating? Speaking of which…” Slowking said before he conjured up water inside of the circular helmet that Pangoro was forced to wear.

“No… No…!” Pangoro tried to break the helmet, as the water was slowly suffocating him, only to feel his strikes being softer than before.

He realized not only had Slowking filled the helmet with water, but also that he had conjured up a thick layer of towels tied onto his gauntlets, thus, softening his blows too much to be able to break it like he did earlier.

Pangoro screamed inside the helmet, releasing precious air unconsciously as he tried to break free, his fingers being rendered useless as he tried to find a way to escape.

“Behave yourself. This is a monumental display of how I can change any matter to anything I want. Though it seems I can’t turn you into a fleshy blob, I can just drown you to unconsciousness” Slowking said as he turned the arena’s floor into mud, making Pangoro sink knee deep into it, thus slowing his leg movements.

“Oh no… Is he gonna drown?” Grumpig asked as he got worried.

“It seems so… Unless Slowking undoes this, I don’t think there’s anything Pangoro can do!” Gliscor said as he watched Pangoro struggle.

Pangoro was slowly losing consciousness… Was he going to lose? Was he going to die here? What about Pancham?

_He remembered… He remembered one time… One time that he had been tied up and beaten to a pulp when he was still new to being a mercenary for hire… _

He had overestimated the number of adversaries at the time, but he had to put food on the table somehow, and paid dearly for it when he had accepted a job request from Hypno himself, who had tricked him into a trap set up by several other ruffians looking to turn the tables on him.

Word was that he was getting too good at his job, taking the bounties of several esteemed figures in the criminal world that they devised a plan to get him once and for all before they got hunted down by him.

And when they caught him outnumbered, they weren’t gonna let him live, so they took him to a lake and tied his ankles with some pretty heavy stones, before tossing him towards his supposed watery grave.

Pangoro struggled, but no matter how much he squirmed, he couldn’t slip his legs off of the chains holding his feet down as he sank to the bottom.

“Weak…I am… So weak…” Pangoro thought to himself, the ambience of the water making him almost feel at peace.

Was he going to accept this? Was he just going to meet his end here? He even promised his son he’d come back for dinner… Was he going to be a failure as a father too?

_Pangoro gritted his teeth, he wasn’t going to die here now… He’ll spit on the dead gods themselves if this is what fate had in store for him as he started to break the limits of his strength by trying to break the chains with his wrists by force… And with all his might, he was able to hear the chains start to break, until finally, his wrists were free. _

Now for his legs… He’d have to make a note to keep his whereabouts a secret when he got out of the predicament. At least until he managed to track down and dispose of the others who tried to drown him.

Simisear watched as Pangoro’s strength slowly faded, watching from the sidelines as he saw Pangoro dying a slow and painful death.

Simisear had promised not to interfere with the fight or give him assistance, as much as it was allowed, Pangoro still had his pride… But looking at what was happening now… He couldn’t stand by anymore.

Pangoro stopped struggling, planting his footing on the mud as stable as he could, no longer trying to thrash about.

Simisear thought this was it, it had been several minutes that Pangoro was drowning and trapped in that fishbowl shaped helmet, he had to save Pangoro before it was too late, he was just about ready to jump down from the stands with his Bo until Pangoro lifted one foot up right up to his knee.

Pangoro then bashed the psychic fishbowl helmet right against his knee, shattering it and finally letting him breathe as his head was finally free from the water.

“It seems Pangoro was able to get free after all!” Gliscor said as he felt a bit anxious to witness someone drown on land, that would have been a first for him.

“I was so scared. These guys are becoming scarier with each gimmick they use!” Grumpig said as he wiped the sweat from his head.

Simisear was glad that Pangoro had managed to get out of it somehow, and sat back down.

“Seems I underestimated you. I thought you were gonna die, though this just means that I have more use for you to test the limits of my unlocked power” Slowking said as he smiled.

“Don’t underestimate me…” Pangoro said before untying the muddy towel off of his hands with his teeth, giving him free reign of his arms again, and stepped out of the knee deep mud.

“I can see that…” Slowking said, making a large boulder from above and tried to crush Pangoro with it.

Pangoro destroyed it with a single punch, before turning towards Slowking.

“You thought since I’m a dark type, you can’t mind control me like Hypno there. I take it you thought since you couldn’t make use of your psychic abilities without the help of Hypno or some other bullshit he did with me, you sought some other way. So by using other objects against me, you thought you could use that instead of trying to get in my head” Pangoro said before taking his gauntlets off, having ended up too muddy and slippery to be of effective use to fight in.

“... Don’t act like you know how I think. I merely wanted to surpass myself beyond just making use of my abilities against you” Slowking said as he instead began to change the terrain into that of ice, with water just below it, causing Pangoro to kneel down to prevent himself from slipping.

“Do you think this will be enough to stop me?” Pangoro said, determined to finish things despite the disadvantage he was in.

“Do you? You can’t even reach me right now” Slowking said as he sat right on the ice.

“On the contrary, you’re within range right now” Pangoro said, before punching the ice in front of him, causing him to fall into the icy cold water.

Slowking wasn’t anticipating that move as the ice started cracking in his direction, and before he could try to change the terrain again, he felt the ice break under his weight and fell into the water.

Slowking can easily change the water back to land, but then he was worried… He was in the water, doing that right now would mean burying himself alive. So he tried to swim back up, and resurfaced, before turning water and ice back to land.

Then he saw Pangoro charging for him, so he decided to instead lock him in a cage, conjuring several bars of metal, before wrapping it in chains, and then adding whole square shaped steel’s worth that looked to be several inches thick, not being able to see a single thing from the inside.

“Try to escape your way out of that one” Slowking said, before conjuring several more chains out of thin air on it, wrapping it several times, he was not going to let him escape this time, and there was virtually no way to escape from this steel prison.

Slowking waited a few more seconds, he couldn’t hear anything from it… There was no pounding, he couldn't even hear any breathing. Could it be that his opponent gave up.

“It seems he has surrendered…” Slowking said as he realized there was nothing happening.

“Not quite…” Slowking heard a voice from behind him… What made his eyes widen was when he realized it was Pangoro’s voice.

Slowking turned around, seeing Pangoro reeling in for an attack.

Slowking instantly conjured more cloths wrapped around Pangoro’s fists, that way, he wasn’t going to be hurt as badly as he had hoped, and he could turn things right back around towards his favor again.

Pangoro however, wasn’t planning on using his fists, and instead, gave a vertical kick up Slowking’s chin, sending him flying up.

“Just… Just like we practiced! Finish him off Pangoro!” Simisear yelled, remembering how he helped Pangoro practice more with his kicks.

Pangoro heard Simiear’s voice and knew what he meant, and jumped after Slowking while he was still in the air from the forceful kick.

Before he could think of anything to conjure up, Pangoro had leapt up to his level and started juggling him with several kicks, making sure he had no time to recover.

“What a counter! And it seems like it’s not stopping yet!” Grumpig said as he watched in awe at the fast reversal of the situation.

“It’s so coordinated… I never saw someone fight this intensely with air combos!” Gliscor said as he was on the edge of his seat.

“Now for the finisher!” Simisear yelled encouragingly.

Pangoro grabbed Slowking in a tight bearhug before he could fall, and suplexed him headfirst into the ground.

With that one final move, Pangoro let him go, and stared down at him… He seemed to have lost consciousness, and while his eyes were open, his pupils couldn’t be seen… He might have overdone it with his combo earlier.

“Everybody get ready for a countdown!” Gliscor told the crowd.

“10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…!” The crowd counted down.

“0!!!! We got a winner!” Grumpig announced, as the audience cheered for Pangoro’s victory.

Grumpig and Gliscor went over to Pangoro and started to ask him some questions.

“Amazing work there big guy, how’d you manage to pull it off?” Gliscor asked Pangoro.

“Yeah, how were you able to escape from that cage?” Grumpig asked him.

“It wasn’t easy, I was banking on the idea that he’d lose sight of me, even for a seconds was just enough. When I broke the ice and fell into the water, I knew I had to swim back up fast before he decided the terrain wasn’t up to his liking. I’m just glad he didn’t decide to take the fight underwater. When I resurfaced, I immediately made an illusionary copy of myself with double team… I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off without him noticing, but it seemed to work thanks to him focusing on the copy I made of myself. I’m not very good at using the move yet and make several copies of myself, but I used that to my advantage and trick him into thinking I was charging at him from the front. Besides my gauntlets being an inconvenience, I was worried he would feel something was off if my copy’s gauntlets weren’t muddy, that’s one thing I couldn’t get the hang of yet, trying to pass on every last detail I have to a copy” Pangoro explained.

“I see, what a way of turning a weakness into a strength!” Grumpig commented.

“Though that was entirely knew, where did you learn to make those kinds of moves with those kicks? I figured we’d be getting more actions from your fists” Gliscor asked Pangoro.

“It was something new I practiced, I realized I couldn’t rely on my fists forever, and did some leg training. I wasn’t as flexible with my legs back then, but thanks to Simisear, he managed to give me some tips on how to stretch my legs properly and make good use of them. I didn’t think much of it at first, but I never thought it would come in handy until now” Pangoro told the commentators.

“And here we thought this was a stubborn old man folks! If we’re already seeing matches like this, I can’t wait to see the loser’s bracket 2 days from now!” Gliscor said as he laughed.

“O-Old man!? I’m not that old!” Pangoro yelled, annoyed as the two kept ignoring him.

“And without further ado… It’s punishment time!” Grumpig announced.

Pangoro turned towards the unconscious Slowking, as opposed as he was to punishing his opponents, he may have something valuable he could gain from having him help him in future matches.
