Visitors in the dark
When you are soul wandering, make sure you are always back when the time is up, else the consequences might be harsh.
It was a nice spring day outside. The Sun was rising in the east and the bird were singing their songs loud and proud to attract their mates for this season. The trees were just blooming and the air was still nice and crisp. Normally one would enjoy the feeling of the early spring sun on ones skin and revel in the feeling of its relaxing properties. But not him, he was in his basement, preparing for a daring attempt. He had trained months for it. Had countless discussions with his advisors and mentors about the foolishness of this adventure. He had used the arkane knowledge, gifted to him by his mentors, to create the perfect summoning circle, funneling the energy of the nearby ley-lines into him. The room was bristling with energy. So much so, that his inner demon was able to manifest himself out in front of him, instead of only ever speak from within his consciousness. They had had heated arguments about his plans. He knew it was a risky business, but he was determined he would make it across and back again in the time he had for it. The training attempts had delivered promising results and he had worked tirelessly on strengthening his bond with her, so he could indeed succeed in his endeavor.
He sat in the center of the room, in the middle of his summoning circle. He was completely relaxed and prepared himself for the astral projection he had prepared for today. His inner demon had manifested in front of him and was pacing up and down excitedly.
"You know how dangerous this is."
He hissed as he continued to pace up and down. His posture was extremely tense and he kept looking around. His host looked up at him and smiled.
"Yes. I know how dangerous these things can be. But we've talked about it umpteen times. I'm going to go through with it now."
He was the complete opposite of his demon. Calm, composed, at peace with himself. He knew that astral projection wasn't easy...
"So many things can happen. You can lose yourself, you can lose your way back... You know I can only keep your body alive for a limited time if its soul is not inside it."
The demon stopped and looked at him for help. He only nodded.
"Yes, I know. I have no intention of exhausting this time."
He replied calmly and closed his eyes again. The demon clutched his horns and squeezed a muffled cry of frustration from his throat.
"I can't protect you when you're out there. Your soul is defenseless. Vulnerable."
He opened his eyes again and shook his head.
"No it isn't. I'll take everyone's protection with me. No one will be able to harm me. And now be quiet. If you don't want to help, at least don't make it any harder for me."
The statement sounded final and he closed his eyes again, completely relaxed. His demon bared its teeth and waved its arms. Finally, he shouted his anger into the world without a sound. But there was nothing he could do. He knew he was basically powerless. He took a deep breath and sat down behind his host. He placed his clawed hands on his host's shoulders and spoke the ancient runes of protection so that nothing would happen to his body while his soul was on its wanderings.
He was completely relaxed. Nothing and no one else existed around him. He could only feel himself and his body. He could feel his blood flowing through his veins and hear the murmur of his subconscious forming a subliminal background. His heartbeat, which echoed in his ears like a steady, slow pounding, was accompanied by his deep breaths.
He felt himself slowly detaching from himself. How the weight of the world and his fears and worries fell away from him. All his big and small aches and pains left him. When he opened his eyes, he saw the world lying strangely desaturated and cold before him. He felt something on his shoulder and looked around. He saw the huge paw of his inner demon resting on his shoulder. He nodded and stood up. He felt strangely light. He already knew this feeling and he enjoyed it. When he turned around, he saw his demon. Its collossal form was kneeling behind his body, head bowed in deep concentration. He nodded again. He was glad to have him by his side. As much trouble as he was causing him, he was also helping him.
He turned around and closed his eyes. He concentrated on all the connections he had with other people and opened his eyes again. He looked at his hands and countless threads were connected to his fingers. They were all different colors and some were already broken. He took a deep breath and concentrated.
He felt a thread begin to tug at his finger. He concentrated on this thread and all the others first faded and then disappeared completely. It was a very delicate thread. He picked it up tenderly and looked at it. He could feel the delicate tug of the thread and nodded. Smiling, he looked around once more before giving in to the pull.
It was a strange but pleasant feeling as he was pulled along the thread. Through the wall of the room and the next and the one after that until he was out of the building. He gained height and passed over the buildings of his village. The pull of the thread increased slowly but steadily, gaining more and more speed. He could see the large river that flowed near his home village and the thread roughly followed the direction of the river. Soon he could see the big cities passing below him and he was still gaining speed. Soon he flew over the coast and the open sea rushed beneath him. It was a peaceful sight and an even more peaceful feeling. The silence in which he glided over the sea calmed him immensely.
He only realized how fast he was going when he saw the next land mass approaching. It was breathtaking. The vast green forests rushed beneath him in a blur. He turned on his back and looked up into the night sky, the aurora borealis dancing above him. Their otherwise green glow seemed strangely cold, almost blue. He turned again and looked ahead. As the forests abruptly gave way to a mixture of taiga and tundra, he slowed down again. He could see the end of the thread.
He touched down on the ground in front of the house. Everything seemed peaceful. He picked up the thread and made sure he was at the right house. He nodded gently and came closer. As he touched the front door, he felt a brief, faint resistance. He closed his eyes briefly and when he opened them again, he was able to penetrate the barrier. It was old, hadn't been replaced for a long time. It was dark in the house, everything was quiet. He sensed a multitude of other entities cavorting in the deep shadows. Some he could see, others were too faint to see, they could only be felt. He closed his eyes and concentrated. When he opened his eyes again, he was surrounded by an aura of light.
"You should go into the light. Don't stay here. There is nothing more for you to do here."
He said calmly and the shadows receded. He nodded and continued to follow the thread. It led him to a locked door. He recognized his own sigil on the door and nodded. It was still intact. He renewed it and charged it with energy.
He passed through the door and found himself in a dark room. He looked at the bed that dominated the room. She was lying there, curled up, asleep. He nodded and looked into the corners. Despite his sigil, he still found shadows in the corners and in the alcoves between and under the furniture. He looked at them bored, he raised his hand and the shadows disappeared.
He turned towards the bed. With a gentle smile, he sat down on the bed with her. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. It took him a moment to gather enough energy. When he opened his eyes again, the room seemed different. Warmer, more alive. He placed his hand on her flank, it felt soft and warm.
He took her blanket and covered her carefully. She reached for the blanket and pulled it tighter around her. She mumbled something unintelligible before drifting off into the land of dreams again. He smiled and bent down to her and kissed her cheek gently.
"Sweet dreams my love..."
He whispered and stood up again. He was just about to leave when he heard her.
"Don't go..."
He looked down at her. She was looking straight at him. He knew she couldn't see him. It was impossible for her to see him. She pulled her hand from under the blanket and held it out to him.
"...Stay here...please..."
She whispered. He nodded slightly and took her hand, kissing it tenderly.
"I can stay with you for a while. But not for long."
He whispered. She nodded.
"It's OK..."
Her voice was almost toneless as she answered him. He climbed into bed with her and cuddled up to her from behind. He put his arms around her and pulled her close. She sighed softly and surrendered to his embrace. They lay still for a while and he listened to her breathing and heartbeat. She pulled his arms tighter around her. It was a bizarre feeling to feel him with her and know that he wasn't there. She didn't ask the obvious question. She was just happy to feel him with her. His warmth flooding her body, his breathing tickling the little hairs on the back of her neck and his strong hands resting on her stomach. She wondered if...
"Yes, that would be possible..."
He whispered as he felt her feel his hand and fingers. He could literally feel her blushing.
"Would you want it then?"
He asked softly. She took a deep breath and nodded slowly. He gave her another gentle squeeze and began to stroke her stomach. He carefully pulled up her pyjamas and slipped his hand under the fabric. The skin on her stomach was really hot.
She hummed softly and held his other arm tightly.
"We don't have much time, I'll have to go back soon..."
He said gently and stroked her stomach. The small, circular movements pushed further and further towards her pants. She nodded.
"Mmmmhmmmm... then please do it quickly... I want to feel you..."
She begged and literally pushed his arm into her pants. He smiled and enjoyed her willingness. He gently slid his hand under the fabric of her pants and underpants and felt the heat emanating from her. He felt the soft mound of her mons and climbed it. He stroked it tenderly and she sighed softly.
As he slid back down the other side, he could feel the little knob hiding under its hood.
"Hmmm such a cute little button..."
He whispered as he gently stroked it. The reaction was not long in coming and her little love button straightened up and swelled. She gasped slightly and rolled her pelvis backwards to give him better access. He applied a little more pressure to her clitoris and rubbed it a little harder. He could feel her twitching under his fingers.
"Hannn... oh fuck... hnnnn..."
She moaned loudly. Her hands tightened around his still free arm.
His smile widened as he moved his hand further down. He could feel her cleft parting for him. His fingers sank between her labia and slid further down to her entrance. He let his fingers rest on it for a moment and enjoyed her contractures under his fingers.
"Hmmm... please... hannn... don't make me wait..."
She begged him. He let his fingers circle around her entrance.
"Don't worry my little darling, your suffering has come to an end."
He whispered and very slowly sank his finger inside her. It was a bizarre sight as his invisible fingers sank inside her and her vagina practically opened by itself.
"Oh my God, you're so tight..."
He exclaimed as he pushed his fingers into her up to his knuckles. A lustful moan escaped her and she clung tighter to his arm, pulling him onto her chest.
"Hnnn... nyaaa... ri... right there... hnnnn..."
She gasped and pushed her pelvis against his hand. He pulled her closer and began to move his fingers inside her. He tenderly stroked her walls and used the heel of his hand to stimulate her clitoris. She moaned her lust loudly into the room and writhed and squirmed under his ministrations.
He grabbed her breast firmly with his other hand and began to knead it. He let his fingers glide over her breast and found her nipple.
"Haaannnnrrrrr..."
She gasped. He felt the nipple harden between his fingers and grinned. At the same time, he found this small spot on the upper vaginal wall and began to rub it.
She sucked in a sharp breath and clenched her muscles.
"Aaaaahnnn... right th... there... aaaahnnn..."
She moaned and bit her lip hard. Her whole body began to twitch. He continued to tease her vagina and nipple. He could feel her tension increase and her moans rise in pitch. Grinning, he began to kiss her neck and nibble on it.
"Hnnnn... don't... hnnyaaa... soon..."
She reared up in his arms and tensed her vaginal muscles. He pinched her nipple hard and pulled on it. That was enough to push her over the edge and she began to cum intensely.
She stuck out her tongue and screamed her orgasm into the dark room as her breast and vagina were worked by forces invisible to others. He jerked his fingers out of her vagina and she ejaculated hard. Her juices squirted out over the edge of the bed and onto the floor. She writhed and moaned loudly as her body gave itself over to the climax. He held her tight and let her enjoy her orgasm to the full.
"Good girl..."
He whispered and snuggled closer to her as her body slowly but surely calmed down. She breathed heavily and enjoyed his closeness. She stroked his arm and reached for the other to pull it towards her. He didn't resist and allowed her to do so when she brought his hand to her mouth and licked it. Before he could say anything, she put his fingers in her mouth and sucked on them.
Her little noises and the sometimes loud slurping made him infinitely horny and his cock felt like it was about to burst. He gritted his teeth, he had to go back. He couldn't stay any longer.
He carefully pulled his fingers out of her mouth and kissed her on the cheek.
"I have to go... my body needs me back..."
He whispered. He could feel, see and hear her disappointment. The way she exhaled, the way she turned her head and eyes towards him and the little sigh she couldn't hold back. But worst of all, he saw it in her eyes. That look of utter and boundless betrayal.
He was on the verge of resigning himself to losing his body and his life when she let go of his arm. She turned around in his arms. She couldn't see him directly, but she could feel him, feel his body, his warmth and his closeness. She buried herself in his chest, tears in her eyes.
"You have to go. I still need you."
She murmured, trying to keep the sadness out of her voice. He hugged her tightly and gave her another small kiss on the top of her head.
"I'll come again. I won't abandon you."
He whispered and she nodded into his chest.
"I know...now go already..."
She said softly and pushed him away from her. It physically hurt her to push him away, but she knew there was no other way. At least not yet. She knew she would be able to talk to him, she would be able to feel him, and when he really came over again, she would be able to spend time with him again. It was a temporary farewell, not forever.
He nodded, it was hard for him to say goodbye too, but he knew he would meet her again. It was only a matter of time. He stood up and looked down at her.
"Sleep well my angel..."
He whispered and before she could answer, he was gone. He let his body pull him back.
As he chased across the woods, he felt his body's pull weakening already. He had waited too long, given in to his passion for too long and now he was paying the price. He pressed his lips together and stretched forward. He would not give up so easily. He had lasted longer.
They had trained for this. But so far he had only ever been a few steps away from his body, able to return at any time. But this time he was on the other side of the world. Over 16,000 kilometers away. He reached for the fading feeling that was leading him back to himself.
He closed his eyes and tried to follow the pull faster. It was easier to follow the feeling with his eyes closed. He could already hear the sea rushing by beneath him. He didn't want to open his eyes for fear of losing his sense of direction. When the sound of the sea finally disappeared, the feeling disappeared almost completely. He could only vaguely determine the direction of his body. He opened his eyes and saw the land racing by beneath him. He was moving so fast that he perceived the details in his path as barely more than blurred shadows whizzing past beneath him. It was no use, he had to slow down or he would never see his house in time.
He took his bearings from the large river through whose valley he was currently thundering and followed its bends until he saw a familiar structure. He wasn't too far yet. He left the valley and flew in the direction of his home village.
He didn't slow down when he saw his house but flew straight through the walls and into his body. His body was still sitting there exactly as he had left it. The force of his returning soul, however, threw him backwards and so he flew out of his summoning circle.
For a moment, nothing happened. His body lay dead on the ground and did not move.
Then the releasing breath. He greedily sucked in the air, only to cough it out again. He groaned and laboriously turned onto his side, coughing some more.
He coughed up thick phlegm before pushing himself up onto his knees.
"I told you so. I prophesied it. Don't say I didn't warn you that this is what would happen!"
Ranted his demon, who had materialized in front of him again. He paced up and down in front of him, flailing his arms wildly.
"You almost didn't make it. It didn't take much... are you even listening to me? Hey, I'm talking to you!"
He literally screamed at him as he just sat there, breathing deeply. Finally, he waved him off.
"Leave me alone, I made it and it's what counts.... And it was worth every risk."
He replied, annoyed, but didn't look at his demon. He threw his hands up and shouted his frustration at the ceiling.
"You damn fool. You have no idea. Do you even know what would have happened if you hadn't made it?"
He turned to him again and let his anger run its course.
"Not only would your body die, your soul would be lost and you would no longer be able to help HER. Not to mention that you would take my host away from me!"
He finally yelled and tried to punch the wall, but since he had no physical body, his hand went through the wall without resistance. He looked up at his demon.
"Yes, I know, losing your host is the worst of the consequences, isn't it?"
He replied annoyed and stretched his back. His demon turned on his heel and came towards him with stomping steps, his hand already raised. He stopped only moments before putting his thought into action.
"You know that's not true. I'm worried about you."
There was real concern in his voice, but also a lot of anger and annoyance. He looked at him with tired eyes and tilted his head.
"You? You're worried about me? And you expect me to believe that?"
It almost sounded like mockery, but only almost. He knew it was unnecessary to argue with him about it. He was right. It had been reckless and stupid to waste so much time. It could all have been over very quickly if he hadn't been paying attention.
"Hell yes, I'm worried. And yes, losing my host plays a big part in that. I don't feel like looking for a new one again... who's to say I'll get one as good as you?"
He was still upset, but his voice seemed much calmer. He also knew that the discussion was completely superfluous, but he had to get his anger out somehow. He looked up at his demon. His smile looked genuine, but incredibly tired.
"Thank you for looking after me."
He finally said. He could see the tension in his demon, he could feel how he wanted to say something but finally let it go and his tension practically collapsed.
"You know I can't help it."
His demon replied and sat down cross-legged in front of him.
"Please be back sooner next time. It would be a shame to lose you over something like this."
He added. His host just nodded wearily. It was time to go to bed. He needed to recharge his batteries... She was counting on him...
The sun was almost setting when he came to. He lay on his bunk in his basement, had never made it back up to his bed. He still felt drained, but it was a nice and wholesome feeling. He softly got up and went upstairs to his chambers, turning on his computer to boot up his communication.
He smiled when he saw that there were some messages for him.
He opened up the channel and typed:
"I love you...“
It did not take long for the answer to arrive...
