This a short practical guide to the Metempsychosis series based off questions I get, explaining its concepts and developing on its lore. I hope you enjoy and that it makes sense to those familiar with the series.

METEMPSYCHOSIS – A PRACTICAL FIELD GUIDE

This is meant as an accompanying piece to the Metempsychosis series, further explaining the lore and concepts included throughout the series. As such, it contains potential spoilers.

Let’s begin with the beginning: just what is metempsychosis?

The hard translation reads as follows: “the process of transmigration at death of the soul of a human being or animal into a new body of the same or a different species”.

I’m going to go on a bit of an esoteric tangent here: metempsychosis is also quite a bit more than that, when you take into account concepts like Orphism and the Platonic definition of the term in Greek mythology.

To make it simple, it is also the correlation of the Self into the web of the astral plane (Swedenborgian space, deadalus hyperboreus; the concept that the planes of existence of one’s Self are like a spider’s web), interrelated through timelines and potentially accessible through the hyperconscience, accessible through a trained meditative state.

I was always, from a very young age, able to dream very vividly. No pre or retrocognition or anything like that (at least, not consciously) but from an early age, my nightly ventures would mirror my waking life and I later would find out they often correlate to my waking life, mirroring emotions, events, etc.

This small guide seeks to answer the questions I get most often:

  • So, what exactly are dreamspheres?

  • How do they work?

  • What are their repercussions on real, daily life?

Core definition of dreamspheres

The dreamspheres are a myriad of distinct metaphysical realms/archives that Jon can access through his metempsychosis ability. Each dreamsphere is its own separate entity — like individual soul-archives or parallel memory constructs — though some can be interrelated. They serve as deeply immersive spaces where past-life echoes, digitalized consciousnesses, and fragments of the soul interact, often with lasting emotional and physical consequences.

Appearance & nature

  • Neutral State : Every dreamsphere typically begins as a barren, deserted, and bleak landscape under a dark greyish-yellow or greenish sky.

  • Evolution : Over time and with repeated visits, elements are gradually added — landscapes, structures, people, and atmospheres develop organically.

  • Unique Vibe : Each dreamsphere has its own distinct emotional, atmospheric, and metaphysical tone, corresponding to different chapters or arcs in the Metempsychosis story.

  • Emotional Mirroring : The dreamspheres act as a sophisticated tool for Jon’s hyperconsciousness — used for emotional processing, personality development, and growth. They mirror waking life by containing the full spectrum: pain, tragedy, heartbreak, joy, healing, pleasure, and self-discovery.

Most notable dreamspheres

  • Seadragon / levyataan dreamsphere: Features Nevlaan , a seadragon (Levyataan) from Sirius. This sphere played a major role in Jon’s early emotional healing — helping him process his mother’s stroke, the temporary separation from his birth parents, and the difficulties of school caused by dyspraxia. It provided nurturing, supportive, and healing energy during formative years.

  • Nashim / Rubber dreamsphere: A darker, more intense sphere where Jon awakened to and embraced his dark side and aetheric nature. This sphere significantly augmented his activator powers and unlocked the Rubber alter ego / form (the black rubber naga as a representation of his kinkier, dominant, and uninhibited side).

  • Grianos / inflatable dreamsphere: Centered around embracing inflatable and vinyl themes. Grianos helped Jon connect more deeply with his playful and affectionate nature. It unlocked his activator orca form , complete with a dedicated exhaust inflation valve, strengthening his bond with Grianos and the inflatable/vinyl aspects of his identity.

  • Firestorm dreamsphere: Features Firestorm , an (initially) imaginary guardian originally created by Jon’s deceased spouse. This guardian took on a full, living form within the dreamsphere. It has been a powerful source of emotional support and has greatly helped Jon process grief and loss.

  • Raven dreamsphere: Features Raven and his mech Shadow. In the same vein as Firestorm, Raven served as emotional support after his mate of 25 years passed away suddenly. Raven had experienced grief previously and the two immediately understood one another. Shadow’s presence also reinforced Jon’s feeling of safety and emotional stability.

  • Storm matrix dreamsphere: The most emotionally charged and complex sphere. Contains the digitalized consciousnesses of Reiken , Alswaram , and Sorvaa’hr on the surface (appearing peaceful), while the original Storm’s profound sadness and reluctance (“I never wanted this”) lies beneath. Jon’s first major breach here (disobeying Nataniel’s rules) led to Storm overwhelming him with exhaust/energy, fully awakening his activator senses and cementing his deep affinity for everything mechanical.

  • Dragon rider dreamsphere: Still ongoing. Many new concepts were introduced here. Many emotional intricacies. The central characters are the dragons and they seem to be mirroring my own emotions or related to events of my current waking life. Quite a bit of symbolism as well. Flying on a back of a dragon could be interpreted as “flying on my own terms” or “flying free”, hence progressing through the grief process and perhaps finishing a chapter and beginning a new one.

Explanations of mechanical activator specifics :

I regularly get questions as to what mechanical activation is, how it works and what its impact is on both the dreamspheres and daily life. The background is explained in Metempsychosis III but I’ll go a bit into details here.

Core principles of mechanical activation

  • The bond is mutual, symbiotic, and deeply intimate.

  • Emotional authenticity, vulnerability, love, and desire are the strongest drivers of the bond between activator and machine.

  • Exhaust, scent, sound, and physical/valve contact serve as primary conduits for energy exchange.

  • Sexual and energetic release acts as a powerful amplifier.

Energy flow dynamics

  • Energy transfer between mech and activator varies significantly depending on the mech’s nature and the emotional state of the activator.

  • Some mechs have stabilizing, soothing, grounding energy (e.g. Emerald ). They feel safe and nourishing even during intense sessions.

  • Other mechs have high-drain, intense, overwhelming energy (e.g. Firestorm ). They push the activator harder and faster, which can be euphoric but also exhausting (pardon the pun).

  • The activator’s emotional relationship with the mech has a massive impact. Trauma, fear, or unresolved feelings can hinder or destabilize the link, sometimes making the energy feel predatory or consuming (as with Storm for Jon).

Progression stages

  1. Awakening — basic presence, vocal praise, light exhaust exposure.

  2. Intimate Feeding — direct exhaust inhalation (mask/choker), deeper emotional sharing.

  3. Transformation — physical rebirth into a mech-compatible form based on the activator’s inner self (rare).

  4. Perfect Sync — full emotional and energetic alignment. Activator can match or exceed mech scale, mutual inflation, (rare) group activation, and powerful shared control without full merging.

  5. Perfect Core Fusion — the activator merges directly with the mech’s core energy, achieving full control of the mech’s body and systems (meanwhile, the physical body shell remains in suspended animation, fed by the mech).

Key lore details

  • Rarity : true/natural mechanical activators are very rare. Most are genetically or artificially engineered. Jon is an exception primarily due to his metempsychosis ability.

  • Transformations :

Elements specific to Jon & Storm

  • Storm’s energy initially feels terrifying and predatory to Jon (“being eaten alive”) because of deep-seated trauma and unresolved dreams/events connected to him.

  • This emotional block prevents proper activation and bonding.

  • With time, trust, and healing, this could shift — but forcing it would likely be harmful.
