Genetic Children-Log 11- Laxus Materia...
#11 of Genetic Children
I appologise PROFUSELY to those that have been waiting for more, I have had the most terrible writers block which was curiously cured when the neighbours cat broke into my house but that's a story for later, enjoy.....
Korm finished setting his computers back up, it could be hours before they were released from lockdown. After putting the crossover cable back to his second computer, he re-connected the modem and the router.
Â
â€Lockdown has been initiated, all guards to my office, all employees DO NOT attempt to leave you Lab.†The Director’s voice was still going on, as Korm slowly re-accessed the Lab’s secure network.
Â
As part of the Lockdown Procedure, the hardlines that connected the Lab to the outside world had been physically separated so he wasn’t going to be able to access the Internet or make any phone calls, but, he could check on his daughter if Emu’s computer was on. He navigated to his custom U.I that had the project interface and opened it.
Â
Thousands of lines of numbers, text and monitoring figures swept across and down his screen. He knew this might happen, when he unplugged his network he had been disconnected and his monitoring program didn’t keep a place marker, so his computer was displaying the logs from beginning up to the current line. He grabbed a pen and his pad and wrote.
Â
REMEMBER: Add Place holder to next version of Monitoring Software!!!.
Â
Then he scribbled countless lines under it. He then grabbed a jumper, threw it on the floor, and stretched out to take a nap.
Â
Â
Chunks of Sam Lester’s head splattered on the walls roof and floor as the sub-dermal explosive went off. A chunk of what seemed to be brain matter hit Korm’s shirt.
_Â _
â€Shit! They were listening. That means reinforcements we better go.†Korm holstered his weapon, and undid the straps for their guns. Meanwhile his wife was removing the hard drive from Sam’s computer.
_Â _
At the back of the room, there was a weapons locker with an M4A1 rifle and several clips of ammo, Korm discarded his sub-machine gun and grabbed the M4. There was also a few M-81’s and two boxes of .45 calibre ammunition. After they had stocked up, reloaded and searched Sam’s desk it was time to go.They were headed towards the door, when someone tried to open them from the outside.
_Â _
The door tried to move twice, before whoever was trying to enter realised it was jammed from the inside.
_Â _
â€BEHIND THE DESK!†Korm and the feline woman jumped behind the desk, just as the door exploded large chunks of steel across the room. Some of the embedded in the wall behind him.
_Â _
Chink…
_Â _
Korm pulled the pin on an M-81 and threw it over the desk he heard one of the assailants yell.
_Â _
â€SHIT!†Then the grenade went off.
_Â _
BANG!
_Â _
â€Now!†Korm yelled, they both fell sideways to a prone position and fired around the side of the desk hearing several meaty splats followed by screams.
_Â _
Both he and his wife rolled from their cover and sprinted to the entrance, taking up positions on each side of the door. Korm peaked, saw two men at the end of the corridor, and blind fired forcing them to take cover. Then he motioned to move out and take cover on the other side of the door. They ended up pressed against the wall, hidden by the door access frame.
_Â _
Korm motioned to wait, that the enemy would come to them and then pulled the pin from his grenade holding the pin tab in so that it would go off. Slowly they heard the sound of approaching footsteps and he thew it, hitting one of the men in the chest with the 1.5kg fragment grenade.
_Â _
BANG!!
_Â _
Chunks of the mans chest painted the wall and floor, and shards from the grenade tore the other mans body apart, leaving the corridor empty for them to advance.
_Â _
After running the several corridors the same as before, run, take cover, run again. They ended up back in the small building on the surface.
_Â _
â€Ok babe, almost out then we can go over those drives.†Korm and his wife were in a darkened room checking the outside of the building to see if there were people waiting for them. Korm holstered his pistol and ran a hand down his wife’s furred shoulder.
_Â _
â€Laxus Materia†Later we mate.
_Â _
He moved his hand to the back of her head, and drew it forward kissing her, tasting the unique feline flavour as their saliva mixed. Later as she had said, they would probably make love. They broke the kiss, stared into each other’s eyes and then braced for their Exfiltraion. They moved to the backside of the building, and Korm’s wife pulled Korm’s knife out of his holster.
_Â _
All that was heard was an extremely quite gurgle followed by a thud, as she threw the knife embedding it into the sentry’s neck. As she pulled it out the man’s eyes darted around. She used her claws to swiftly end the man’s life removing a large part of his neck just as Korm caught up to her.
_Â _
She grabbed a handful of the dead mans shirt and wiped her claws, handed Korm back his knife and then they sprinted off back towards the helicopter.
_Â _
As they neared the spot where they had left the helicopter, Korm felt a sharp pain in his back. He pitched forward and face planted on the ground. His wife jumped into the bushes.
_Â _
â€Lock-Down has ended…Lock-Down has ended.†The Directors blaring voice woke Korm up. His back was killing him, and he rolled over so he could see what he was laying on. As he brought his had around to feel his back it met with warmth, and wetness. The door to his Lab opened as he fell brought his hand around to his face.
Â
â€Korm!†Emu was standing in the doorway looking shocked, she raced over just as Korm lost conciousness.â€
