Becomming Sailor Mercury
#58 of FM Bailey

Fallon receives a mysterious gift and soon learns that she's going to get more than she ever bargained for when using it.
Writing this took longer than I had expected it to as I had a few things I wasn't happy with and ended up rewriting a fair chunk of it. Thanks again to Vilani for the artwork.
A knock on the door prompted Fallon to pull a tools magazine from her muzzle and rub at her eyes as she was woken by it. The vixen had fallen asleep on her couch earlier in the day among the sunbeams on a very sunny Saturday. The knock repeated itself politely and she rolled off the couch and onto her hands and knees before standing and calling out that she would be there in a moment while straightening her over sized gray tank top and made sure she still had her long tattered jean shorts on. Yawning before she opened the door she came face to face with the a delivery boy from the Zippy Cheetah delivery company and grinned.
"Mornin Hex, come to rouse me from my sleep have you?" she commented at the scruffy looking gray wolf shading her from the sun.
"We do this every time I have to make a delivery to you Miss Bailey, I keep telling you to call me Hector." The older wolf said as she scribbled on a clipboard before handing to the much smaller vixen.
"Well just be thankful I don't tray and coax you inside with promises of foodstuffs what's not really food like Miss Galvis down the street keeps doing." The vixen accepted the clipboard and pen and started signing and scribbling on the marked lines. "We both know she likes ya."
"As nice of a lady as she is that's just wrong, she considers me more of a strippergram than an actual Delivery Boy but she makes a great opportunity to haze the new guys." He commented back with a laugh. "So you ever going to get that sightless socket fixed tiny?"
Fallon sighed softly and looked up at Hector with her sightless left eye and caught him start with her good one. "Hex, we need to work on your manners there a bit. 'Sides I prefer it like this, it makes you jump like a schoolgirl." She handed the clipboard back to him and leaned against the door frame looking up at him, the wolf a good two heads taller than she was. "So what showed up t'day?"
Hector took the clipboard back and shook his head as he marked a few things off on it. "Something new from FeMaus Corp, I took the liberty of looking it up before when I heard about it. Sounds like some kind of new Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality headpiece. The claim they only made a handful of these and were going to give them to some specialists in town but you're the only one I know of that got one around here. Wonder who you impressed enough to get one of these." he said as he retrieved a decent sized box from the delivery truck and handed it over to the small vixen.
Fallon looked over the box a moment and decided to accept it after deciding it was safe to do so and that it wouldn't explode on her. Flipping out a pocket knife from the back pocket of her jean shorts she started to open it up. "I can't say I was told by anyone that I was about to get anything as fancy as that sounds Hex. Let's see here ..." She trailed off and pulled the cardboard flaps back before digging around in the packing peanuts to fish out a fancy looking blue box with the company logo stamped on it. It was a rich shade of sea blue and as she set it on top of the packing peanuts to open it up she found a note tucked into the side of the first box. "Hellooooo what's this?"
Both she and Hector took a look at the note to skim it over since it only had a few lines on it.

The Gray wolf patted Fallon on the back and grinned. "Sounds like you get all the luck there short stuff. I've got other deliveries to make so I've got to run. Have a good day Miss Bailey!" Hector called back as he hopped back on to his delivery truck and drove off down the road.
Fallon shook her head and grinned at his antics, for all the five years she'd lived on the outskirts of town Hector had been her Delivery Boy and he wasn't much older than she was. She picked up the boxes and wandered back inside, closing the door behind her and flicking the lock out of habit. It's not that she didn't like anyone that lived out this way, it's that she always had to remember to lock her garage up before leaving and it just carried over to her home. Setting the boxes down she opened the smaller one to reveal a beautiful blue visor, curiously it was without charging equipment or even what could be assumed to be a battery. She looked it over and studied it carefully, impressed by the design of it but skeptical that it was merely a protective visor with fashion sense and nothing more. Setting it gently back in it's box with the lid up she went to get a snack and a glass of water while she mused over the lack of instructions and additional equipment, pondering how it worked and what it ran off of. Finally curiosity got the better of her and she wandered back to sit on the big couch in the waiting area out of sight and put the visor on.
Her vision just, exploded, that was the best word she could come up with as the sat up and shook her head. Things looked weird, very weird and that was pretty unsettling to her as she looked around the white room she now found herself in. There was a school desk and a shiny metal workbench, looking over the polished steel she discovered that both of her eyes were working and her left one was no longer the dull milky color she had grown used to. She found it hard to believe and even closed her good eye to see if it was actually true and she was still able to see her reflection.
"Unreal ... what is this? Where am I?" The vixen mused aloud.
"Welcome to the Iron Mouse educational interface." A computerized voice spoke out. "Is there anything that this system can assist you with?"
Fallon blinked and looked around, a small feral mouse made up of iron and the size of a softball was now sitting on the school desk and looking up at her with pink eyes. The company had really taken their logo quite literally by the looks of it.
"Well I was curious about the training programs that you had available and see what might be helpful to my business."
"Please wait while the system indexes and sorts the training materials for viewing." The mouse spoke and after a few moments a small stack of folders appeared next to it on the desk. Fallon picked them up carefully and flipped through them.
For the next several hours Fallon flipped through and reviewed dozens of training videos, explanations, How To's, and Disassembly/Reassembly for a number of cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters, planes, helicopters, and even military equipment for restoration of historical vehicles. She didn't feel physically tired but mentally she had misjudged the amount of information these programs had provided and all of the hands on training they were able to give someone without actually destroying a real component by accident. There were a number of accidents that she had gone through with the machines she was less familiar with and had it been a real world situation it could have been fatal. As she was going to lay the stack of files on the desk she noticed a paper near the bottom of the stack and pulled it out. The title of it was "Devices of the Magical Girl" and simply told her to look forwards. As she looked up above the top of the paper she was greeted with a number of shifting colors and after a while, once her mind had succumbed to hypnotic trance it was placing her in, a soft soothing voice spoke.
"Today, we here at FeMaus present you with a very special gift. Your latent powers will awaken and you will serve our owner and leader, Sailer Iron Mouse. You will obey her will and submit your magical prowess to her whims and desires. Speak. Speak the words 'Mercury Power, Make Up' and awaken as Sailor Mercury."
In the real world, Fallon uttered the words and a brilliant light shone around her as the transformation began. Her clothes turned into water as the ribbons began wrapping around her and forming her gloves, boots, and then the body suit, skirt, and tiara as well as reforming her hair and coloration. She was out cold by the time her transformation finished, the visor had switched off and a visitor came to retrieve her and the box the visor came in. For now, all that remained was a small metal mouse made of iron on the front desk.
