Well, I've got something really special here for you! A few months ago I saw an article on the trashy tabloid The Daily Mail about an upcoming Channel 4 documentary about the Secret Life of Human Pups - basically people who dress up as dogs for roleplay and fun. I was intrigued, of course, and watched the programme when it came out about a week later. The show left me certainly curious, and I wanted to learn a bit more, although at the time I did not pursue the idea further.

A few weeks ago, however, I joined Twitter. Well...following all those naughty furries also showed me the option of following a bunch of human pups as well, and among them was one other than Spot, the main character of the previous documentary. I was certainly surprised and had my doubts over the thing possibility that it could be an impostor, of course, this being the internet, but it seemed genuine enough. I took the courage to contact the owner of the account with a direct message, and was pleased enough to receive a quick reply. After a few chats with Mr. Spot, I voiced the idea that I could write something for SoFurry about human pups, and who could be the better subject for an interview than the Mr. Puppy UK himself?

Hence the idea was pitched, and here we are...I've got a full interview with Spot himself, and he was kind enough also to send a photographic greeting for all his current and future fans on SoFurry. I cannot say how pleased I am with Spot's cooperation, and his good nature and spirit in helping me with this little journalistic project. I ran a journal about the upcoming documentary before it aired and there were certainly a lot of curious people who wanted to find out a little bit more about human pups and Spot in general. Who are these people in doggie costumes and who is this guy who voiced them and gave them a face (both in lycra and with his human one, too, occasionally) and who got to nuzzle the host of the good morning television presenter?

Hence I am especially happy to be presenting this interview, and I extend my biggest thanks for Spot for taking the time to answer all my questions, and even to provide a custom photo to grace the cover of the story!

I hope you will have an interesting time reading, and I shall look forward to your feedback!

Spot himself can be found at https://twitter.com/ZentaiSpot and www.zentaispot.co.uk !

Cheers!

  1. Who are you and why are you famous?

I'm ZentaiSpot - but this can be written as Zentai Spot or shortened to Spot ... I've been a puppy for a while, and through my blog I'm well known in the puppy community. However, at the end of 2015 I won the first ever Mr Puppy UK title, and from that I was entered into Mr Puppy Europe - where I finished 3rd. Most recently I became the 'star' of a TV documentary on "The Secret Life of Human Pups" and I also had a small 7 minute section on live TV in the morning. So, not only am I know well known for my blog, but also I'm famous for being on TV!

  1. Where do you live?

I live in the UK about 30 miles from London

  1. How did you hear about human pups? How did you become involved with the play?

I fell into the world of Human Pup Play sort of by accident. My partner and I at the time were 'experimenting' with different things in our life, and we tried a dog collar and lead - which at the time felt right, but we didn't know why. Some years later my lycra fetish reched the point where I wanted full body coverage from head to toe, and at the time this could be achieved by wearing Zentai (Japanese for 'Full Body Tights') and so I wanted a Zentai suit… my partner and I settled on the Dalmatian look, as they could interpret it as 'dressing up' like fancy dress for a party. When the suit arrived it triggered the same feelings I had from when I tried the dog collar. I realised there were other pups out there when I went to a club that catered for skintight clothing and someone asked me if I was a puppy … so when I got home I researched it, and found there was a human pup culture out there … although back then there were only a tiny handful of us!

This also gave me my 'name' in the kink world - Zentai (from the type of lycra suits I was wearing) Spot (as in spotty dalmatian).

  1. How did you become involved in the Channel 4 documentary

about human pups?

The C4 documentary approached the puppy community wanting to gain an in-sight into who we were. They were put into contact with me, and after a couple of very lengthly phone calls, a start date for the filming was organised. This start date for filming was just before Mr Puppy Europe, so they filmed me getting ready in the UK, and then the 2 days out in Europe at the competition. There were many many more days of filming afterwards that we did together covering all sorts of areas about my relationship and puppy play to give a very sympathetic view into the world of human pups.

  1. How did you feel when you were asked to appear on national television?

As my puppy side I was really excited and looking forward to it … my normal side of me was scared to say the least - I didn't know if I'd made the right decisions or said the right things! I think this is why my puppy side has so much fun, as it most definitely is an alter ego to me, it's so different to my day-to-day personality!

  1. You live with a handler. How did you meet your handler and how long have you been together?

My handler and I have been living together for about 7 years and we met as he came down to take photos of me and a friend wandering round London in the Zentai suits, and shortly after that my relationship I was in went wrong, so I made a panic rebound relationship with someone as I'd basically become a stray puppy! That relationship lasted about 6 months, and in the mean time my handler and I were chatting quite a lot, and he offered to become my handler if the rebound relationship went wrong. On the day that I was de-collared, I let my (now) handler know and he came down on the weekend and re-collared me and since then I've been his puppy.

  1. What did your handler think about you appearing on television?

He was nervous, and was't too sure. He wasn't too happy about being involved with it, but we needed a bit of his story to be included to make my relationship dynamic work. My handler was happy to do what was needed, and to an extent not much more. His reaction to me being involved was also the 'are you sure you want to do this?' feeling - but I felt it right, and he was happy if I was happy.

  1. What do you think the new publicity has done for the puppy play

community? Do you think the effect is positive or negative?

The puppy community since the TV documentary was aired has become stronger and more public! There has always been a lot of pups out there who have been to scared to be honest to talk to others about 'who' they are and since the TV publicity occurred, they have found their voice and been more relaxed. This has had a huge positive reaction in the community and beyond.

I do know there are some pups out there who were not too sure of the documentary as it didn't cover certain aspects to the fetish community - but the producers were never planning to show the 'more adult side'. That said, we all know that for some, there is a wider spectrum to pup play.

  1. Do you make your own outfits? Where do you get your gear?

I don't make my own outfits - I buy the suits form eBay (or similar online shops) and these get used for the 'rough and tumble' of day to day pup play. Then I have my latex version for special occasions and when I know I'm not going to be running around on all-4's.

My hood and paws come from a company in America, and weren't cheap!!! but then that said, they are worth every penny :)

The rest of the gear mainly comes from pet stores - I try the stuff on in the store, and if it fits, then I will buy it! Yes, you do get odd looks, but then there aren't any fitting rooms in a pet store

Only a small amount of my gear actually comes from fetish stores!

  1. Do you have to be in your Spot outfit to become Spot, or can you simply get into the mindspace otherwise as well?

My gear doesn't hold an integral part to becoming Spot … I drop into the headspace very easily!

Sometimes just a well timed 'Who's a good boy?" from someone will case me to react by a polite *wuff*. A simple scritch behind the ears will send me all docile and puppy like too!

I won't deny the gear makes the bond between the headspace and Spot stronger though *wags*

  1. What would you say to anyone who thinks that puppy play is freaky?

Simple - we are a harmless group of people! Talk to us, we don't bite (and if we did, our owners would probably muzzle us!!)

  1. How do you identify sexually?

I would probably say my sexuality is bi-sexual, though probably very slightly more leaning towards preferring females. It's not that I'm shy of male on male play - but I do have more limits there.

  1. Have you heard of the furries and do you know any of us?

I have heard of the furry community and I know a few of you - “Static", “Volf" are 2 that spring to mind straight away. I know more, but off the top of my head I don't know their furry names :) *Paws over eyes*

  1. Do you think furry has a relationship with puppy play?

In many ways I can see the similarity - the escaping from normality and becoming someone / something else. Being more confident in a different

personality.

I also know that there are furry costumes out there that are of puppies / doggies and they will take that role on too at times :)

  1. Are you involved in any sexual interest groups such as leather and kink groups? (does not necessary mean organised stuff, just if

you're into anything people think is kinky :P )

These days it's mainly puppy play that I get involved with. When I first started out exploring the world of kink and fetishes I used to be part of something called the Zentai Project which did walkabouts in the skintight suits in the public - but since MorphSuits became popular, then the walkabouts died off as they were now seen as the 'norm' for stag parties etc.

I go quite often to an organised fetish night for skintight clothing (rubber, lycra etc) and that is held on the First Saturday of the month at The Backstreet in London.

Aside from the organised events, I'm love Electrosex play - and nearly all my gear for that is from E-Stim Systems, I also have a strong fetish for skintight clothing - mainly lycra - and I have absolutely loads of lycra gear!!! That said, if it's skintight, I like it, so that includes wetsuits and rubber too!

It's probably easiest to see my full kinky side at my blog! www.zentaispot.co.uk or search for me on many sites as “ZentaiSpot" - though be warned, it's not just about my puppy side of life ;)

  1. What would you like to say to anyone wondering about their sexual identity or their sexual preferences?

Be yourself!! It may feel strange with the feelings you have towards others and you may not quite understand it yourself - however, relax and enjoy life.

I know when I first had feelings for somebody, I found it slightly scary, but very quickly these concerns were washed away with affection and love. When that relationship eventually came to an end, I panicked as I was now a stray! I put a lonely hearts type of ad on a website, where I got approached by a male - I wasn't too sure at the time, but I took a gamble and gave it a try. I found it strange, and not quite as comfortable as I had been used to, but I didn't shy away from it, and over time I became calmer in myself. That relationship came to an end after 6 months or so. During that time though I had made a strong friendship with my current handler, and he came down and gave me my collar when the 6 month relationship stopped. Since then we have enjoyed many happy times together, and I'll be honest - I'm still getting used to it, but I'm no longer scared of my sexual feelings.

  1. Have you ever had to doubt yourself and your puppy play?

I've had odd times in the past when I've almost stopped doing puppy play, normally it was down to not finding time to be a puppy! Looking back over those times, it was normally down to withdrawal symptoms from being a pup. The concerns at the time overcame me and I then had to almost force myself back into the mood! However, once back in the mindset of being a pup, I loved every minute of it *wags*

I've also had a few realisation moments recently as to what my pup life means to me - when filming the documentary, it became very clear to me that I need Spot and Spot needs me! Without Spot, I would never get time to relax and unwind, as I'm the sort of person who is constantly busy with something! The other moment of realisation I had was another filming moment when I was being interviewed in the mirror in full pup gear - though this time there was great sadness combined with happiness and proudness. I was happy and proud as I could see what other see in me when I am Spot, but greatly saddened by the fact that all I wanted to do as me was to reach out and hug Spot … but you can't hug your own reflection. This did however reinforce to me how much Spot means to me and to others!

The only other times I doubt myself is down to the discussions about puppy play being sexual. I got voted in as Mr Puppy UK and part of that is to represent the pup community, so when the TV documentary came about I was willing to be involved. The documentary was focusing on the social aspect of puppy play and not the sexual side, and this has unfortunately lead people to believe that Spot is a completely non-sexual puppy. This isn't true - Spot does have a small sexual streak to him, but it isn't the primary reason why I like puppy play - I like puppy play mainly for the social relaxing play time I get as a pup, and being treated as if I was a bio-pup. I don't deny that Spot has had sexual encounters, and probably will have more in the future, but then this goes for all fetishes or role play in connecting adults.

  1. What do you think is in the future for you and Spot and your handler?

Spot seems to be growing ever stronger, I find him as a way to be confident in life. I'm normally a quiet shy person, but with Spot inside me, I can sometimes over come these fears.

The future is something you can never predict - I don't thing Spot will ever 'die' - he is me and I am him and the 2 have to co-exisit. My handler and I are happy as we are with flexibility in life, and I don't think we'll ever take the next step into a full partnership/marriage. We are however soul mates and best of friends so we probably will never be apart, but to what extent we are together who knows!

It seems strange to not have a proper answer for this question, as so far I've happily answered all the others and probably written too much, but then I live life for the moment and just go out and have fun - so even I don't know what will happen.

  1. Anything you'd like to say to your fans and those who have heard about you - or not heard about you, but will hear about you now? XD

*waves a paw* *wuffs* :)

I've been a pup for quite a long time now, and I know that I'm well known in many circles - but never realised how far and wide my bark goes!!!

Aside from pup play, I do enjoy a few other kinks / fetishes *wags* … My main one being E-Stim (electrosex) and I am a sort of 'mascot' to E-Stim Systems. I also do other bits and pieces for E-Stim Systems, such as R&D with them or testing their equipment … but I'm not at liberty to disclose exactly what :-p You'll just have to wait and see what they next release onto the market. (Though shameless plug here … If you are interested on buying E-Stim Systems equipment, then head to my blog and click on the link to them - it gains me commission ;) )

PLUS QUESTIONS:

How often do you pup play?

As often as I can :) *wags* … The pup in me is around all the time, and a well timed scritch behind the ear or “who's a good boy?" said to me will trigger me to go all puppy like regardless of the location!!!

As Spot in full gear, I try and get pup time atlas 2 times a month - I know that doesn't sound all that often, but with the nature of where I work and the hours I do, it's not as easy to be a pup in the evening as I'd like … oh, and also I live with my dad - he knows about my puppy life, but I won't force it upon him, so I can't just be a pup when at home either :(

What was the last time you played?

Played in what sense :-p ;)

As a pup, the most recent time was at an E-Stim Systems demo night at Expectations in London

'Play time' ;) well, that was last night!!! By using E-Stim! *wags*

How often do you get to meet other pups and handlers?

Mainly I meet them at events that are organised for pups, though I do sometimes catch up with others on a more social level - the most recent being a friends birthday, where I was invited along. It was purely social due to the location, but at the same time, both he and I went puppy like at moments (mainly when he got given chocolate buttons as a present)

Would you ever consider being a handler yourself or having an 'omega' pup to your Spot?

I wouldn't know where to start being a handler! I'm not that sort of person in the kink world. I'm a sub in many situations, and so to be a handler to another pup just doesn't feel right.

To have an 'omega' to Spot - Again it's sort of not what feels right in me. I joke with many pups that I'm not an Alpha, but every-so-often I do have an Alpha streak to me - but then it only really is a short time, and normally the pup that I'll dominate, will also dominate me during the same pup time - I suppose in some ways I give as good as I get at times.
