Everyone who was anyone had a familiar. From the most lowly sorcerers with bronze talismans to denote their rank to the most powerful gods to walk the earth, their familars noted their potential. Despite having so much power and potential, however, familiars were often hard to control and impossible to hide. In most cases, they couldn’t speak and often took out their frustration in the form of destruction. Whenever that happened, the Netherworld Haven’s owner’s name was always the first to mind—Dane.

He wasn’t just the owner, but the quirky creator of this otherworldly daycare for familiars. No one really knew exactly what he was capable of, but there wasn’t a soul who doubted his love for familiars and passion for caring for them. Somehow, he just had this way with them, a sense of control and familiarity over these otherworldly creatures that even their masters often grew frustrated with. It was the sheer idea that he never quite grew tired of being around them that sometimes made his visitors wonder if he was just someone else’s familiar. Despite the oddities, there wasn’t a single pair of more trustworthy hands than Dane’s.

“Coming!” Dane called to the lower floor as he finished sweeping away fur and trimmed claw pieces from the floor into a dustpan. At his side a netherwolf rested on its side, looking up to him with glowing purple eyes, her blackened fur turning the polished wooden floors around her black, as though her appearance sucked away light and warmth from her surroundings. He poured the contents of the silvery pan into a nearby trashcan before he began to sweep up the rest. The wolf watched his every movement, watching the broom grow closer and closer until he stopped over her. “Come on now, Osra, I’ve got another guest, you can’t just lay there.”

The wolf showed him a toothy, feral grin and continued to lounge in its trimmed fur, then there was another pair of thuds, this time far more desperate. “Dane! Please!” A muffled voice screamed alongside another pair of thuds. “You have to help me!”

He looked to the empty doorway then down to Osra. She looked up at him with one of those overly cocky grins, lifting her paws and laying entirely on her back. A loud barking growl came from the depths of her lungs, a sound that reverberated through the wooden floors. Dane wasn’t entirely sure what she said, but he had a pretty good guess.

“Oh hush, you haven’t won just yet. I’ll be right back” He nudged her with the bottom of his foot and she fell back onto her side. A smirk over his shoulder later and he was on his way out of the room. The hallway leading to the stairs was lined with doors, some open and others closed, places where he spent his time caring for some of the most powerful familiars in the world. Just as he reached the top of the stairs he could feel a rush of cold at his feet, then feel the wolf’s tail wrap around his ankle. He shivered and yelped, tripping over it before he began to tumble forward, right down the stairs.

“Ack!” His voice echoed through the empty hallway, but every spot on the hard, wooden stairs that his body was supposed to hit was replaced with a soft, furry landing. He tumbled down the stairs before landing with a gentle thud, a patch of black fur holding him up, gently rising and falling beneath him. “That wasn’t very nice, you know.” He started to pick himself up before the patch of fur rustled beneath him and began to rise up.

Dane rolled to the side and from the fur and surrounding blackness in the floor, Osra poked her head through the darkness. She laughed a choppy, throaty laugh with excessive breath, her teeth bared, then disappeared back into the hole and the floor returned to normal. There was another bang on the door as Dane picked himself up with a smile before dusting himself off and making his way toward the door.

The moment he unlocked it the knob turned and the door flung open, throwing Dane onto his back as one of his more familiar customers bolted into the room in a rush of heavy panting and sweating. Only a moment later the space in the reception room began to warp, the contemporary wall paper of blue and white flakes seemed to melt away from the wall while chairs and tables all around the room caught fire. A bright, sunny day outside turned pitch-black and twisted before a bony hand reached into the room from the door, grabbing a nearby desk and crushing it. There was a boisterous cackle outside and the house began to tremble—then everything returned to normal.

“Wha-?” Dane’s eyes widened as he looked around, just making sure that everything was okay before the sound or claws scratching floor caught his attention. Just as he looked over Vincent, his overly panicked guest rushed over to his side to help him up.

“Damn it...! S-Sorry Dane!” As Vincent bent down to help Dane up a small scroll fell from his dirty grey robe and onto Dane’s chest. Before taking Dane’s hand, Vincent took the scroll and stuffed it back into his robes before finally helping Dane up. “Y-yeah…sorry…about that.” He cleared his throat nervously.

Vincent was a man just as tall as Dane at 5’2, but a few years younger at 18. His hair was a ruffled and black compared to Dane’s long, shaggy black, even darker than night. He rubbed the back of his head and bowed to Dane, making a motion with his hand toward the doors before sighing hard.

“Sorry about all that, really, it’s just that the past few days have been really stressful.” Vincent rubbed the back of my head. “I lost my apprentice’s talisman and had to sign up for a replacement, but wherever I go, Vixi makes those illusions and everyone goes crazy. I mean it, all hell breaks loose!” His eyes widened as he spoke and he threw his arms to the sides, as though simulating an explosion. “I just have too much stuff to do, and she won’t let me go anywhere…”

Dane raised an eyebrow, looking over to the door. “Vixi? Little Vixi? There’s no wa-“

His jaw dropped as the little kitsune he knew and loved stepped through the doors, but Vincent’s little Vixi wasn’t little any longer. Fully developed, she’d grown from a three foot tall kitsune of six tails to a six foot tall kitsune of nine. Her once purple gaze was an alluring pink and her eyes focused on him in a way that made her seem like some sort of oracle. Flames that once collected around her paws and on the tips of her tails were now freely floating about her aimlessly, not catching any on fire, completely controlled.

“Oh my…” A wide grin tugged at the sides of his lips until he was beaming. “Vixi, is that you!? When did you get so big?” He held his arms open for a hug, but Vixi paid his gesture no mind, looking to his face before retreating to the back of the house, toward his room. “Ah…”

Vincent cleared his throat. “I’m…honestly not sure why it happened, a few days ago she just kinda…transformed. She’s been acting like that ever since.”

Dane lowered his arms to his sides and dusted off his regular civilians clothing, jeans and a dark blue button-up. Afterward he pocketed his hands. “Well, you can go ahead and be on your way. I don’t mind watching her.”

“Are you sure?” Vincent immediately started to step toward the door, backing away from Dane the moment he made the offer. “I wouldn’t want to force such a responsibility on you, and I don’t even know what she’s capable of yet. It could be dangerous.”

“I’ll be fine.” Dane started toward the door and opened it for Vincent with a chuckle. “You just go ahead; take care of your business. We’ll be here waiting for ya.”

Vincent took Dane’s free hand and shook it hard and fast, nodding over and over. “You have no idea how glad I am for your help. I’ll have your money the moment I return! I promise!” He took off through the doorway and the door slammed hard behind him of its own will.

Just like that, the door to Vincent’s home was closed and Dane was alone again, or mostly so, in this rift in space created for him, his home, and whatever familiars needed housing. The door locked itself, then Dane unlocked it and opened it up revealing a bright and sunny day, the wind was blowing and the tall lush grass swayed back and forth, waving hi. Dane smiled as he stepped outside and looked to the sky, deep purple clouds set against an odd red background. It was like he was living in a fantasy world just for himself, and he was loving every minute of it.

He returned to his home and the door once more closed itself behind him. As he fell backward and leaned against it Vixi made a reappearance, standing at the hallway leading to his room. She stared him down with an all-knowing gaze, sizing him up without much of an expression.

“Well then, hello to you too, Vixi.” Dane stood up straight and stepped toward the middle of the room. Vincent’s words echoed through his mind again and he slowed to a stop. “I haven’t seen you since…three tails ago!”

Vixi narrowed her eyes as Dane’s smile grew wider and cheesier. She huffed before starting forward, one slow step at a time. She didn’t growl or make much of a sound when she walked, but that look in her eyes said more than any words could. Dane instinctively raised his hands in submission, starting backward.

“Hey! Come on now!” Dane felt the enchanted wooden door against his back and his mashed himself hard against it. “You know it was just a joke, right? R-right?”

Vixi didn’t stop until she was right in front of him, looking down on him with that peculiar judging expression. She stared him down for a long while before lowering her snout to his lose and poking out her tongue. It grazed over his lips and she smacked her own before backing away and sitting on her haunches. She tilted her head and smiled a feral smile, one that Dane had seen before.

“Ahh, jeez.” Dane sighed hard before stepping forward. “You really had me going for a moment there.” He stopped just in front of her before leaning into her and embracing her body, resting his neck against hers. The strange taste on his lips that her tongue left behind lingered for a long while, it was somewhat aromatic and sweet.

Vixi returned Dane’s gesture, leaning into him and wrapping her front legs around his body. Each of her tails gently swayed forward and began to wrap around Dane’s body, his ankles and upper legs, his waist and arms, his neck and chest. Warmth and emotion flowed from her body into Dane’s and vice-versa, leaving him to fall limp in her hold.

“Ah…” His gaze went unfocused and his fingers found purchase in her soft snowy coat. There was so much going through her mind and flowing into his. So many emotions and memories, each of them like a flash of light in the dark, or a cool breeze of wind in the hottest weather. He remembered when Vixi was nothing more powerful than a normal spirit fox, and every moment onward as she grew tail after tail. “Vixi…”

She was a special case of familiar, and overwhelmingly powerful, and intelligent creature gifted to a sorcerer who hadn’t yet found his bearings in the world of magic. Some days, she loved his inexperience, and how human Vincent was, helping him discover his potential as he did the same for her. Other days, the same inexperience and humanity was frustrating, and during those times the Netherworld Haven had become a place of comfort. There was more going through her mind, but it faded away as she let Dane gently slip from her tails, letting his limp body gently fall to the floor at her feet.

Dane groaned softly, balling his fists then letting them relax before he started to stand up, shaking his head. As his own thoughts and feelings returned to his mind and body, Vixi turned away and started back into Dane’s room. He reached out for her, unable to speak, then she turned away and showed him a faintly humanesque smirk, before her tails covered her expression and she continued off.

His body tingled every time he moved and for a few minutes the only thing he could think about was Vixi. He knew that he had so much more to do, other familiars to care for and specialized lunches to make, but that smirk and that gaze in her eyes continued to return to him. When the odd tingles left his body and his voice returned to him Dane stood up tall and shook himself off. He cleared his throat and gave an audible sigh just to test his voice before making his way toward his room.

“Hey…err..” He cleared his throat again as he stepped into his room. “Vixi, have you eaten yet? This is about the time I serve l-“

He stopped just past the doorway, staring at Vixi sprawled out on his bed with her eyes closed. She looked peaceful, and more importantly, asleep, but he continued forward any way, being as quiet as possible until he was standing over her. She’d really grown quite a bit with her transformation, and her personality filled out her form rather nicely. Mysterious and alluring, almost a little intimidating, Vixi had it all. Dane resisted the urge to run his hand down her body and scratch her under the neck like he’d do when she was smaller before retreating from the room.

His day continued as normal, making several lunches for the familiars lounging about in their rooms. Osra pounced him as usual, even harder when she seemed to smell Vixi’s scent on him. Seraph, the snow Griffin, pinned him to the floor before eating her raw steaks off of his chest and face. She kept him there, squawking at him with a condescending expression before backing away. Seraph’s master was a goddess of unimaginable power, it was only natural for a familiar of similar strength to inherit her attitude.

Dane stood up with a cough before wiping his face. Seraph snorted at him before lifting her talons and shooing him away. He stumbled out of the room with a goofy grin before making his way into another room. Coral the Otter was next, followed by Orb the Sapphire Cat, then Sulfur, another familiar of a goddess. They were all special in their own way with vastly different personalities and powers, and bonding with them took a great deal of time. When he was finished, night had nearly fallen, and by the time he managed to hit the showers the darkness had set in. The lack of light was an easy fix with the help of a little magic, a skill that Dane was more than proficient in.

Following a few hours to himself, a break he took with Orb and Osra, two of the familiars who got along well with each other before seeing them off to make dinner. His home had grown even quieter since midday, with a few familiars noticeably preparing for their meals and bed above him. He found comfort in the sounds, the soft patter of feet and scratching of claws as he prepared their meals one by one before bringing each one out to a large table surrounded by a number of chairs. The meals were placed in order of who would receive theirs first, with Vixi being first in line, at least the first to be checked on—he hadn’t heard a sound from his room since she went into it.

He took up her dish filled with larger, dark red steaks before making his way toward his room, but upon nearing the door he could see the gleam of her flaming, pink eyes. The world started to melt around him again and she started forward as he backed away. Her gaze completely took hold of his own as he took one nervous step back after another, keeping up a particular goofy smile.

“Good evening to you, Vixi.” He backed himself toward a chair before falling back into it. “I…umm…hope you’re hungry.”

Vixi didn’t slow for a moment, she lowered her head and her simple walk shifted to a prowl. She stopped face-to-face with Dane, looking directly into his eyes with a gaze full of intent. Her tails splayed behind her and she lifted her front paws to the sides of the chair, looking down to him as the low light in the darkened room turned into a soft pink to match her color.

Dane lifted up her dish, but she put her paw to it and pushed it aside, back onto the table. She lowered her head just a little more and as Dane opened his mouth to speak she pushed forward, putting her lips to his. Caught off-guard, or mostly, he began to pull away, but only slightly. She pushed forward, closing her eyes and tilting her head to the side as she slipped her tongue past his teeth. Her tails began to enclose him in silence, bounding him to the chair and burning away his clothes with their magic.

Completely unharmed, Dane’s mind went to mush as she sucked his breath away and his clothes dissolved into nothingness. Soon afterward, he was naked and bound, breathless with his heart throbbing and his cock beginning to follow suit.

Vixi eventually pulled away, a string of pink saliva connecting their mouths. By then, her sex had begun to drip, the claws on her hindpaws impatiently scratched into the floor.

“Ah…” Dane’s vision went blurry again and he began to smile. “This wouldn’t be why you’ve been giving Vincent so much trouble, would it?”

Vixi showed him that peculiar feral smirk before lowering her head, breathing hot breath down his body. She took in breath after breath of his scent before reaching his crotch, putting her nose to his length and savoring the musk of a long day’s work. His cock throbbed and twitched backward at the touch of her nose, giving her a playful smack before resting against her. She snorted and gave it a slow lick, caressing from its base to the tip.

They hadn’t mated before, but she’d seen his cock once, walking in on him with a customer one day. She recalled it clearly, the shape and size of it all, but even now it seemed rather sizable. His scent melded with her own as she kissed the tip, then began to take it into her maw. Dane grunted softly, his toes curled and his hands balled into fists. Her teeth grazed the sides of it and her tongue tickled and teased every bit of him. She smacked and slurped his cock, turning her head this way and that, looking for just a little more room. It took some time, but she managed the whole thing in her mouth, squeezing it hard with her tongue before pressing her nose into his body.

Dane moaned out softly as she began to bob her head against the length of his cock, sucking on it gently. He turned his head this way and that, restrained by Vixi’s tails, clenching his teeth with a deep breath. His release was building, and without a word, he made sure Vixi knew.

A low grunt escaped the depths of Dane’s throat before he came, the ecstasy taking over his ability to speak as it left his body and made its way into Vixi’s mouth. Caught off guard by the sheer amount of it she recoiled just a bit, but latched on with her lips, looking up to him and keeping eye contact as she swallowed his seed, one gulp at a time. When Dane had finally finished, he was trembling and out of breath, his eyes were rolled backward and his body had grown even weaker, but Vixi grinned.

She brought one of her tails between her legs and slipped it across her swollen sex, growling softly at the feel of her furry tail collecting her scent. As Dane lifted his head Vixi brought the scent to his nose, sending another surge of ecstasy through him. His cock throbbed and his mind went blank, he choked on the scent then took another breath of it, slowly and desperately poking his tongue out for a taste, then she suddenly pulled it away with a snicker.

Dane chuckled weakly, the remnants of his last orgasm ran down the underside of his cock and dripped to the floor below him. “Damn it…”

Vixi picked him up from the chair with her magic and powerful tails, setting him beneath her. He began to sit up, then she pinned him down with her front paws. She lowered her head to his and touched their noses together as she began to straddle him. Her backside swayed then began to lower until her swollen opening kissed the tip of Dane’s manhood. She clenched her teeth and took a deep breath before dropping the rest of the way. Her eyes shut tight and she grunted, growling softly into Dane’s ear, gripping his body tighter with her tails as she clenched his cock inside of her.

When she opened her eyes they were rolled back, the white of her eyes was glowing pink. She opened her mouth to pant, rising and falling atop her caretaker, moving faster and faster. She clenched him tight, her fluids spilling over his pelvis and pooling beneath him. Her loins ached and her entire body throbbed, desperate for this release. In the rush of ecstasy she shut her jaws on Dane’s shoulder, dimpling his skin with her teeth and a following growl, but drawing no blood. She ran her tongue over his skin and took quick, short breaths of his scent.

She came with no warning, trembling about Dane’s throbbing cock, spilling her fluid as her eyes went blank again. She bit harder and her tails gripped and stroked his body. Only a moment later, Dane quelled a would-be roar into a loud grunt, shutting his eyes and balling his fists as his second orgasm came, filling his feral partner with a thick, sticky warmth.

Vixi remained on top of him until their orgasms had died down, then she laid down on top of him, leaving them connected. She unlatched her jaws and licked his cheek, smiling that strange foxy smile and clenching his cock inside of her. Finally, she relieved his arms of her tails, but when she did Dane’s first act was to wrap them around her to embrace her tight.

“I’ve missed you too, Vixi.”

That next morning, a couple hours after being chewed out for late dinner in the form of squawking, Vincent showed up looking a touch less frazzled than the day before. It turned out that wizardry school would be far more time-consuming than he thought it’d be. Despite the news that came with a frown, Vixi couldn’t help but smirk when he mentioned how much more time she’d be spending at the haven. Dane accepted the job with a soft smile, patting Vincent on the back in the process, but deep down, Vixi knew that Dane felt the same way.
