Dedicated to those soldiers who lost their lives at Fort Hood. When you read this story I want you to remember those who serve and give their lives to the cause they believe so we may have all the things we treasure.

If you pirate this, shame on you, that is all.

..........................................................................................................................................................

He walked down the old cobblestone street as he heard every one of his bones pop n' crack as he gingerly walked.

The old husky had seen it all in his fifty plus years on this planet. He had many loves, many losses, but plenty of things to remind him it was ok for him to smile once in a while.

At one time Travis Redcloud was a young vibrant husky with a wife and two kids. That was until he got the call he was going to go serve overseas in World War II. It was not easy for the husky and his family to accept the reality of he might not be coming back home if he got into trouble with no backup in site to save him if he got shot down into enemy territory.

Travis remembered the look on his wife's face the day he had to move his family onto a military base in Wichita Kansas from their home in peaceful rural West Texas.

His wife never wanted to move but was forced to because she did not work and could not run their huge ranch on her own with two young rambunctious pups to constantly watch over.

That's what Travis's life was like before he got called into service for his country in just a peaceful citizen who owned a thirty acre ranch with several head of cattle who grazed the land and made his family the money they needed to survive.

Travis never wanted to go over to another country and kill a man for his country's own revenge. Travis was just not that type of a husky who went around shooting people he wasn't too fond of. He wanted to live in peace and keep it that way for his family especially his two kids.

When the family had to raise spikes and move to a base in Kansas it was really hard on them all to give up the rich fertile Texas landscape they'd lived off of and made money off of with their cattle.

Travis didn't want to move them but he also did not want his kids to possibly never see their dad again either. He'd feel a lot more at ease if he knew his family was safe and could never be in danger of being evicted off the land or forced to sell it when the little money they did make ran out.

Travis was to report to the military commons area of his base on the 24th of June so that gave him only 48 hours to move his entire family and what little they had onto a house on the military base in Kansas.

They packed what they could fit in their station wagon and drove non-stop until they arrived in Wichita the night before Travis was to report for first roll call. The house they had chosen was within walking distance to everything the base had to offer its military families. There was a general store, a few restaurants, a military captain's lounge bar, and not much else. At least they weren't in the sticks in the middle of nowhere like Travis had feared when he found out he was being deployed to Kansas.

Once Travis and his family had settled into their house on the base the next morning at 0500 hours Travis reported to first roll call. From then on he counted down the days until the inevitable happened of being shipped out to a base in Spain to begin his official introduction into the world of war.

When the dreaded day finally came Travis reflected and shed a tear on the looks of deep sadness and worry in the faces of his family. He couldn't bear to remember the look on his two kid's faces of tears streaming down their cheeks at the site of their father about ready to board a plane for a place not as peaceful as the one they were living in.

"You two know I don't want to do this as much as I want to just go back to where we were and live in peace" Travis said softly to the two husky pups as they ran up to hug their father for possibly the last time.

"I'll write as often as I can, ok?" Travis said trying his best to hold back the tears threatening to flood out of his eyes.

"You two are going to need to be strong for me and watch over your mother, I know this will not be easy for her". Travis said in choked words as he looked over at his wife who had tear stains on her cheeks.

"I need all of you to be strong especially you two" Travis said softly. "I'm counting on the both of you to resume the role of men of the house while I'm gone" Travis said in a cracking voice as he lifted up the two pups to give them a long hug and last goodbye kiss.

"I love the both of you with all my heart" Travis cried as the tears he was trying to hold back refused to be locked in his eyes anymore.

Travis put down both of his kids and turned his now tear soaked face to his wife and both of them locked together in one of the deepest longest hugs anybody on the base had ever seen.

"I will miss you my love of the Texas plains for which I first laid eyes on you" Travis choked out. "You will always be in my thoughts and mind as I try to deal with this as best I can" Travis choked.

"Please don't leave my arms Travis, I can't let you go, I won't let you go" His wife cried as she shook like a leaf soaking Travis's chest with her tears.

"You know in your heart you must my beautiful wife" Travis choked. "None of this was your fault or mine but you must always believe I will be back here in your arms as soon as possible" Travis said in a choked voice as his ice blue eyes met the baby blue eyes of his wife.

"I will miss you more then you'll ever know" Travis said as his body shook out the rest of his own sobs as he gave his wife a deep kiss and tried to release her grasp from his.

Travis had to physically yank his wife off of him which tore him right down the middle of his heart. He knew that might be the last time he ever was in the arms of his wife as he turned to walk towards the huge prop plane bound for Spain.

Before the door closed to the outside world Travis turned around one last time to the site of his sobbing wife holding his two sobbing kids and said a lip sinking "I love you" to them as the door closed on the plane for the last time.

What made things absolutely worse for Travis was he had a window seat and he drew the shape of a heart in the glass of the plane's window with "I'll miss all of you and I love you always" as he saw his two sobbing kids running alongside the plane on the fenced grass departure side until they could not anymore.

When the plane was far enough off the ground Travis lost it and sobbed like an infant without its mother until the sobs eventually knocked him out until the plane arrived at the base in Spain.

Travis was not adjusting too well to life without his family being there everyday for him to come home to. In fact if you were to ask the husky how he felt about the situation he was in he'd probably give the government a piece of his mind.

Travis knew he could not change what had happened so he swallowed his depression and did his best to endure everything he was faced with.

He tried making some friends on the base to cheer him up but most if not all of them didn't want a thing to do with the husky. There was something about Travis they seemed to avoid. Could it be the fact the husky did not want to be here but was forced to? Or was it the fact huskies in the military were considered to be tail raisers?

Travis was not a tail raiser by any stroke of the word. He did masturbate a lot but then again so did about nearly everybody on base. Being far away from those you loved was very hard not only on the mind but the sex drive too. Lots of times the husky would go off into a secluded area of the base and paw off to naked images of his wife which he secretly packed before he left the base.

These images were of before Travis married her and had kids with her. She was just as beautiful back then as she was now but the images he took of her when she was still just a beautiful husky he called his girlfriend always got him off.

However, after the sessions were over Travis returned to his usual glum self as he knew these were just fantasies and a way to get his mind off the pain it felt for missing his family.

It had only been a week since Travis had landed on this base but it seemed like an ice age for as much as he longed to be back with his family as soon as possible. Travis yearned for holding his wife's body in his arms as the heat of it would always bring peaceful sleep to him. Now it was replaced by a miserable cold broken down pillow of an uncomfortable military bed.

When Travis dreamed he dreamed of him and his wife's first time they had sex together in the bed of his truck as they were trying to watch a movie at a drive in theater. They were the only ones there and were too busy being locked in each other's arms to care about what movie was being seen.

The stars, the moon, the atmosphere, everything was just perfect for a good round of love making in the back of the pickup truck.

Travis dreamt of how his wife's body felt in his paws and how soft and firm her breasts were as he cupped them in his paws. He dreamt of how tight and warm her vagina was as he rammed his throbbing doggy cock deep into her for the first time. He dreamt of how both of them squealed and howled in ecstasy as they both had multiple orgasms at the same time. He dreamt of how the world around both of them was spinning and the only sounds they heard was their own breathing and heartbeats. He also laughed as he dreamt about the movie drive in owner coming out to stumble upon two naked love birds with deep smiles on their faces and certain areas of the body still joined together to tell them the place was closed for the night. He dreamt and laughed when he saw the reaction of the movie drive in owner when he happened to look down at the site before him. He laughed in his dream as the owner of the movie drive in gave the two love birds the scare of their lives and both huskies were seen throwing clothes on and booking like mad in the truck to get out of there as fast as they could.

Travis smiled deeply as he dreamt about the deep kiss they shared before he dropped her off and the grope of bulge and a last snake into panties to rub a well used vagina before she got out of the truck and closed the door. He dreamt of him driving off towards home waving to her until she vanished out of his sight and then having to bury his paw deep in his slacks jerking himself off until he came so hard his seed made a big spot in the front windshield of his truck as he up the driveway timing his climax perfectly as he came to a stop in his driveway.

Then when he was about to get out of the truck to go shower off after his fun time that's when he'd usually wake up to find his bed sheet soaked with a huge sticky cum stain and his paw encircled around his still throbbing doggy cock to where he had to silently jerk off to get rid of the obvious boner in his cargo pants he'd be showing all day if he didn't.

The buzz wouldn't last for long and like always he'd go back to his usual glum self once he was called out to roll call at 0500 hours.

That's how life was for Travis in the two plus years he was on the base and the three plus years he served on the battlefield before a wound plus an unseen condition granted him his wish to return home to his family.

He still hated the Japs for being the ones to grant him his wish but he wanted nothing more than to return to the arms of his wife and make up for the time when he was away.

A few days later after his final checkup confirmed he could no longer serve his country Travis Redcloud was officially discharged from the military and flown back to Kansas to reunite with his family.

Travis remembered the day he came home and the jubilation in his family's eyes when they realized he was never going to go back to that hell hole overseas.

Jubilation and happiness turned to sadness as Travis reflected on those he was with the day he got shot down who did not survive the crash or captivity in Japanese prison camps.

Travis cried for those fellow soldiers who were his brother's in arms who lost their lives before and after he got discharged. Sure, Travis had his family but there were families there on his base who weren't going to have as happy of a homecoming as him.

When the War was finally over in 1945 the military started to bring back some of those soldiers who were lost in the war including the ones who were in Travis's regiment. As the preacher at the church they went to in Wichita read off the names of those fallen the entire crowd wept but stood up and clapped when the preacher announced Travis's name and told him to come up and address the crowd.

For Travis it was both hard and rewarding to know so many people appreciated what he and others like him had done for the country. As he stood there tears of pain and happiness rolled down his cheeks as he said a "Thank you" to the people for their respect and acknowledgement of him and his fellow Brother's in Arms who gave everything they had to do what they believe was right.

Travis attended the funerals of all of his fallen Brother's in Arms and wept for each and every one of them. All of them were buried in one big memorial area in Arlington Virginia which was dedicated to those who did not make it in World War II. When all of them were laid to rest a 21 gun salute was performed along with a release of two doves which symbolized the spirits if those who lost their lives taking one last trip to where they deserved to be in heaven.

That was thirty years ago and Travis still wept for them everytime he made the walk up the cobblestoned street to where they were all buried.

He made a pilgrimage to the grave site on every Veteran's Day for the last thirty years since 1945. Now soon to be in his golden years the old crippled husky gingerly walked up to the graves of all of the fallen Brothers of his regiment who didn't make it and sunk to his knees.

As he prayed and shed a few tears saying words only a soldier would understand he felt a paw rest on his shoulder. He turned his tear soaked face to see there was nobody there. It was almost like the spirits of those who lost their lives in his regiment came down to console him and just be there to thank him for never forgetting them.

As he turned his head and resumed praying he heard some words only his ears could hear in the two words of "Thank You" from a voice only meant for him to hear.

As Travis got up to walk back down the street to his truck he said these last words before he turned his head to walk away:

"You guys are the real heroes, you made me realize just how important family and everything we have in life is" Travis said. "Thanks again my brother's in arms, may you rest in peace until we meet again'.

Before Travis was able to turn his head he saw a German Sheppard dressed in military uniform smiling back at him with a small tear of happiness running down his cheek. When Travis shook his head and closed his eyes for a second he opened them again to see the German Sheppard was gone.

Travis figured he was probably one of the soldiers who fought alongside him here to pay his final respects to Travis and wait for him to reunite with him up in heaven someday.

As Travis was getting into his truck to drive off he could of sworn he saw the outline of somebody sitting in the passenger seat waiting for him to get in and take a cruise with them.

Whoever it was Travis hoped they'd enjoy the beauty and peace they fought so hard for to be able to provide for future generations.

Travis started the engine up and said to the passenger spirit:

Come on solider lets go for drive so you can see the beauty you created for the last time".

Travis gunned the truck into drive as he and his soldier spirit friend drove off into the sunset together to enjoy a last ride together before the setting sun took the spirit of his soldier passenger with it for the last time.

...

Hope you enjoyed this dedication to the Fort Hood Soldiers. Always remember to thank those who serve your country because life is so precious and we don't really understand how lucky we are until we see what these guys do and deal with.

The true heroes of our world wear green camouflage and remember to always be thankful for what you have thanks to them
