You are about to begin your pokemon adventure at the grand old age of 21 years old. Initial chapter contains nothing explicit.

The loud beeping alarm from your bedside clock rings, startling you awake. Clearing the dreamy haze from your mind you quickly realise what the day was. Today was the day you had been waiting for, the day several years in the making. Today you would get your first pokemon and become a real trainer. Most first time trainers are usually twelve to thirteen years old, except for you. Unusual circumstances withheld you from chasing your pokemon trainer dream in your younger years. Those issues, however were behind you and today you were meant to visit the local pokemon professor to receive your first pokemon. You struggle to dress yourself in the morning light. Nervous hands making the usually simple task much more difficult. You choose to wear a pair of warm pants and a long sleeve shirt. Your region had gone through a bit of a cold snap recently so you decided to also wear a warm coat to try and stave off the morning frost. The trip to Professor Willow's lab was only a short one through a patch of wild grass, or a longer journey that stretched around the aforementioned grass. With an air of excitement and recklessness you set off through the grass, much too eager to meet your new friend than to worry about the dangers of the route 1 wild pokemon.

Making your way through the tall grass you hear movement to your side. As you turn, you lock eyes with those of a Spearow. The Spearow looks at you quizzically before it crows out for help. You should be able to take on a single bird, but if reinforcements appear you doubt you would be able to defend yourself. Sensing that you might be in trouble, you try to flee the pint sized bird. You quickly rush through the grass away from the Spearow. You can see the professors lab in plain view now. Suddenly you feel your legs catch on something and fall. You look at what felled you to see that a group of Tangela had grabbed your legs and were holding you down. You struggle against your bindings, desperate to escape but to no avail, the grass pokemon have you trapped. As the panic begins to set in, a set of hooves can be heard in the distance. At once, the obstruction at your legs is loosened as the Tangela abandon their prey and run off through the grass. You gain your bearings and get to your feet to see who, or what just saved you from becoming plant feed. Your eyes meet those of a Blitzle, this cute little zebra was your saviour. You go to pet the creature but it turns away before you could reach it. The Blitzle walks on through the grass, every so often it looks back at you beckoning you to follow it. You look at the direction the zebra pokemon is heading to see that it is making its way to the laboratory that was your original destination.

You follow the Blitzle to the professors door and go to knock. Before your hand meets wood, the door opens and you are met with the warm smile of Professor Willow.

"Ah! There you are, right on time"

It seems the time you had 'saved' with the shortcut had been lost.

"Well--" The professor continued "-- come on in and you can meet your new pokemon!"

You go to thank the Blitzle one more time before you enter the lab only to see that the pokemon had vanished. With nothing else to do you enter Willow's lab eager to meet your new friend.

You sit anxiously before Professor Willow as she goes over the basics of caring for pokemon. You let the information slip by as you daydream about which species your new friend will be. A cool dragon type? Maybe an Eevee? Maybe even a Scyther!?

"--you're not even listening, are you?"

The professors question sobers you from your thoughts.

"Well then lets do something that might interest you--" Willow points to a table at the far end of the lab. "-- You're welcome to any one of the pokemon over there"

You rush over to the table to check out what options you had as a trainer. You pick up the ball on the far left and examine it. It reads Wartortle

"Wartortle is a very loyal pokemon that evolves into Blastoise" speaks the professor

You replace the ball, wanting to know all the options before you choose. You lift the second ball. It reads Bagon.

"Bagon is a very hardy pokemon that first evolves into Shelgon and finally Salamence"

You again replace the ball and pick up the third and final ball on the line.

"Blitzle, evolves into Zebstrika, I believe you two have already met"

This time you don't put the ball back, Blitzle the pokemon who helped you back in the grass will be your first pokemon.

"I want this one please" You speak, sounding like a child asking a parent for sweets from a candy shop.

Professor Willow has a sweet smile on her face as you made your choice. She hands you a device which you take eagerly.

"This device can record the data of each pokemon you see-- it can also contact the lab if you need help--" The professor pauses "-- Now if you follow me outside, I can show you how to catch wild pokemon...

The rest of the day ticks like sand through an hourglass before finally you are freed from the tutorial like grasp of the professor explaining all the intricacies of being a trainer. You are dismissed from the professor and finally are able to meet your new friend. You hit the button on the pokeball and become blinded by a bright light. It soon passes and you are left looking down at your hero of the hour. You fall to your knees and embrace the little lightning zebra in a hug. Blitzle just stands there until you break away, where it plants an affectionate lick on your face. You giggle as you stand, and beckon the pokemon to follow you back to your home, where you are eager to pack and begin your gym challenge.

By the time you have fully packed enough clothes and necessary belongings for the road the sun has moved to an uncomfortable spot in the sky and the moon has appeared. You look at the time and with a frown you realise it's too late to start the trek to the next town. You resolve yourself to set off early tomorrow morning after getting a good nights rest.

This night was much like the previous nights, cold. You wonder if pokeballs are cold resistant or if your buddy was suffering through the night chill. Your gut wrenches in guilt, you have a warm quilt, but as far as you know (not much due to ignoring the professor) pokeballs have none such niceties. You call your Blitzle from its pokeball by hitting its button. It looks up at you with a goofy-cute grin on its muzzle as it pounces at you. It knocks you over with surprising strength for such a little pokemon. At the first touch of its fur you realise that your suspicions were unfounded, the Blitzle actually feels warmer than you. With confidence in the devices ability to keep your pokemon safe, you hold out the pokeball for the Blitzle to re-enter. That was until you see the look on the Blitzles face, the soul crushing look of sadness. You feel like you are kicking a puppy, your gut wrenches worse than before. You suppose it wouldn't hurt for your friend to sleep in your bed, just for tonight.

You lay down on the bed and motion your pokemon to join you under the warm covers. It makes a half whinny in joy as it bounds onto the soft mattress and snuggles into your chest, resting its head on your neck as a pillow. Sighing at the actions of the adorable little creature you relax, gently stroking your arm up and down the Blitzles mohawk like mane. You fall asleep like that, both in a happy contentment.
